DANGANRONPA: REBELS OF PARADISE
Introduction – The Search Begins
…Whirling and sounds of engines could be heard as a massive heli-carrier was preparing for takeoff. The whirling became louder and louder followed by explosions and gun shots. Suddenly, near the ground in the distance, a gate bursts open as police officers and cars enter. "FREEZE! YOU ARE UNDER ARREST!" Helicopters were approaching in the distance as well as the heli-carrier lifted into the air… … and slowly started shimmer and fade from existence. And before long, sounds of engines were gone… and the heli-carrier disappeared.
An older police officer cursed and threw his gun onto the ground with a curse. "GOD FUCKING DAMMIT!" His fellow officers flinched slightly as the man sat on the hood of his car. Sounds of a vehicle approached closer and closer as he rubbed his eyes. Parking in front of the officers was a stylish vehicle with the symbol of Hope's Peak on the front. The side door would open as a lavender haired detective in a suit would move towards the older officer. He would look up and sigh. "…So… they sent the Ultimate Detective as well? Miss Kyoko Kirigiri?"
The woman would nod and look at the officer. "It's Kyoko Naegi these days… But you are correct. This case is Hope's Peaks business after all… … what is your name officer?" The older man stood up and sighed as he rubbed a hand through his grey hair. "…Lars O'Sullivan. Police Captain in these parts." Looking at the detective he frowned. "…When we were called in for a kidnapping case on missing individuals, I was not expecting to find a god damn heli-carrier flying away and disappearing. And now that I have seen that, I don't think I can sit this bullshit out." Kyoko would stare at the man for a solid minute before sighing. "…Very well. You'll be brought onto the case."
Lars would nod and turn to his men as they headed out… dejected and frustrated. The helicopters would continue to search for the heli-carrier as best as they could… however for now, the police all knew one thing. They lost their chance.
Having his deputy take the reigns as he headed with the detective, Lars found himself in the back seat of the stylish vehicle. "So… mind telling how exactly this is Hope's Peak business? The news would have a fit if your students had been the kidnapped individuals." The detective had a serious expression as she nodded. "You are correct. After the 'Train Game'… security has ramped up. We've kept an eye on all our current students, future prospects, those who chose to transfer elsewhere, and past graduates."
Lars looked at Kyoko for a moment and pondered… before his eyes snapped open. "…Wait a minute…" The detective had a mirthless chuckle. "Well I'll be. It seems you found the loophole, didn't you." A small screen in the vehicle showed the list of the kidnapped individuals as well as a file attached to each one. Lars immediately saw the connection and cursed. "…So I was right."
On each file was a large symbol stating a single word.
EXPELLED
"…We never once believed that an individual would go after our expelled students. But despite everything, we were blindsided once more." Lars could hear the frustration in the detective's voice. And to him, it made sense.
Ever since the reconstruction of the world from the now named "Enoshima Event", things have been difficult for Hope's Peak. Trust in the school was at a low once the world slowly started to reform as Makoto Naegi, the Ultimate Hope, attempted to bring back it's luster. …However fiction is far from reality.
Distrust in the school was still large but slowly over time, things began to reform. There were a good number of Ultimates expelled and things were bumpy… but the school slowly began to reform. …And then the "Train Game" incident occurred. Years after all was said and done, another killing game occurred. All information on the game itself is now classified to a point where only the World Power of the governments know the truth and Hope's Peak.
Trust fell once more in the school and protests began. Many ultimate students would transfer out, funding had been shifted elsewhere and what was once a rising phoenix was slowly dying. …And now… this would be another hit to them.
Lars would sit there for a moment and take in everything… before sighing. "…Well I've always been called a stubborn bastard. So looks like I'm in for something much more fucked up and bigger than I expected." And for the first time since entering the vehicle, the detective smiled.
Walking through the halls of Hope's Peak was a strange experience. Lars could see the few protesters out in the front of the school while the halls themselves were eerily quiet. But he followed the detective into a small meeting room where Makoto Naegi sat. He had a tired smile. "…Nice to meet you, Captain O'Sullivan. Kyoko told me about you joining our group with this case… I'm sorry I couldn't meet you on better terms." Lars simply nodded as Kyoko moved over and placed a hand on Makoto's shoulder, which seemed to calm the Ultimate Hope down.
Sitting down at one of the chairs, Lars opened up a folder which shocked him slightly. A lot more information than what the higher ups gave him before… From names, last seen locations… and one thing that shocked him to the core. A letter.
Dear Fallen Angel,
Are you filled with regrets? To have been tossed outside the 'Eden' known as Hope's Peak? To have your talent taken away from you? To have fallen from grace?
They say that Hope's Peak is the place where all your wildest dreams come true… yet it is but a collapsed mountain now… unable to reach the skies.

What would you do to get it all back?
I can offer you the chance of a lifetime. A risky chance but a chance none the less.
A game like never before scene! Full of risks and prizes! A chance to finally achieve the dream you so desire! All you have to do is take my hand and accept!
The paper attached with this letter holds the number to contact. Memorize the number. Burn it. For it is the forbidden fruit that shall show you the truth and help you return to the true Eden.

Lars was shocked at the letter. For it changed the case entirely… for it wasn't a kidnapping. But rather… they all agreed. The officer shook his head as he looked up from the file… only to blink and realize the change.
Sitting around the table was the remaining survivors of the Enoshima Killing Game. Aoi Asahina, Byakuya Togami, Yasuhiro Hagakure, and Touko Fukawa. However, not only that, but a large television screen also displayed and showed a group he never expected to see. …The Remnants of Despair. Right there on the screen…
Lars blinked and looked around before holding his head for a moment. "…What the fuck did I get myself into?"

Hello everyone! VoidRebirth here!
And welcome to my second SYOC story… Rebels of Paradise!
Now… to answer a few questions.
1. Am I stopping Off the Rails? No. Off the Rails is still going to be worked on. However, I've been wanting to write a second story alongside it.
2. Do I need to know Off the Rails for this story? No. While in the same universe, the two stories are not connected in that way. This is not a sequel… but a story in the same world.
3. How long do I have to submit a character? A month at minimum. This will be open until September 7th and even after the seventh, you can still submit while I am deciding.
4. Why are you doing this story? Simple. I've had this idea for a while and despite the difficulty, I know I'm up for it. So yeah… here is the new story!
So we have this new story. As from the clues, this story is going to be more escape room themed with expelled ultimates. Why were they expelled? Depends. That said… I hope you all enjoyed the introduction!
Lars O'Sullivan will be a sort of 'anchor' that I will be using for the epilogue scenes that will take place around the staff of Hope's Peak. (I think I'm getting into the groove of things.)
Now… onto Ground Rules and the form!
GROUND RULES-
1. No overpowered characters. In other words… no Mary or Gary Sues. No one wants a character that just breaks the story. So try to make your character have those flaws, weaknesses and all that stuff that makes them seem real. Like a real character/person.
2. I will only be accepting one character from a person for the most part. However, you are allowed to submit up to three characters. Depending on how things go, I may accept up to two characters from a single person but that may not happen.
3. This world is in a science fiction setting, so please be considering that when it comes to talents. I like to have crazy possibilities with the cutting edge of science and technology! HOWEVER! Something like an "Ultimate Necromancer" or "Ultimate Space Princess" would not fit. If you want a wacky ultimate talent as a title that fits sci-fi… eh, why not? If you want "Ultimate Mech Builder"? Simply explain how it came to be.
4. I want to keep talents unique from my other story, Off the Rails. That way there's the most amount of creativity available. So that means no-

7. Unlike Off the Rails… this story is a little more… unique. It's full of craziness, twists and turns, experimentation, and overall? A lot of freedom with how it is run. Any role is open from Protagonist to Traitor to Mastermind. Not only that… if the cast expands or shrinks? Who knows. It depends on what cast meshes the best together.
