Tohru got on his motorcycle and drove out of the school, in disgust. It was clear as day that he hated the school's injustice and every student and faculty that went there. Aoyama High School was a famous and prestigious school and was known for being one of the hardest secondary schools to enter in Japan. But, anyone who was familiar with how the school worked, would have to acknowledge the extreme stratification amongst the students. The school is divided into four ranks; with the bottom three being, "failures," "outcasts," and "average." Though an "outcast" student would still be treated the same as an "average" student in the faculty, they would still be bullied and treated like "failures" by the higher ranks. Tohru was an outcast student but saw himself at the bottom, the weird kid who hung out with the other unpopular kids. At the very top were the "aristocracies," students who either came from a background of wealth and fortune, were preppy, gifted with high intelligence, or were popular with the other students.
Tohru drove around the city for a while to cool himself off. He knew the bullying and torment from Akio and Yu wouldn't stop anytime soon, let alone die down a little, good thing he was a third-year student and he would graduate next spring. Back in his first year, Tohru was a popular student but not at an aristocratic level of popularity, he was even on the school's soccer team. But, that all changed following the second year, Kizuna had started a rumor that Tohru was in love with men and he began being referred to as a "faggot," and that's where the bullying started.

Flashback:
September 19, 1983.
In the school's bathroom, Tohru was washing his hands when two third-year students approached him.
"Hello Tohru. Any money?" one of the students asked.
Tohru tried to walk away when the other student grabbed his shoulder.
"Listen to my friend when he's talking to you, homo." the other student commented.
"Just leave me alone, guys," Tohru said, not wanting any trouble.
The student next to him shoved him to the other. His face then twisted into an evil grin. "Want us to leave you alone? Well, not today."
They began to fill the sink with cold water and shoved his head into it. After they did that, one of them kicked Tohru's middle area and threw him to the ground like a ragdoll. He wasn't found till another male student saw him, unconscious. He reported the bullies' assault and they were expelled and arrested for assault against a minor.

Tohru arrived at his house, with a copper plaque with the word "AKAGI" engraved on it and a wooden door leading to the interior. Tohru unlocked the door and walked upstairs to his room. His room was quite dreary, lacking a single poster or decoration. The walls were filled with large steel bookshelves that stretched to the ceiling. The bookshelves had anime magazines and manga, much like one would expect to find in a high school student's room, but one corner seemed rather out of place. That shelf next to his desk was filled with books on the two World Wars, Nazisim, politics, racism, and both the US and Japanese governments. On the top of the shelf was his private journal entitled, "The Darkness Around Me. A Manifesto by Tohru Akagi." next to it were two books; "How to Win Friends and Influence People" and "A Clockwork Orange." Tohru pulled his chair and plopped himself on it. He then grabbed his journal and a pen and began writing on a blank page.
"April 21, 1984. Today, I was thrown into the System's water fountain by Akio and Yu, Everybody in the System was laughing like little hyenas. I hate all you people... who have better lives, parents, friends, and love. I fucking hate you people that think you're better than me. What is it gonna take for you naive, vile, and nauseating vermin to open your eyes and see me as an equal?! Will I have to do something that will shock Japan? Will I have to bomb a city like Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Will I even have to shed blood and force myself to attack the school just to get my point across? I hope to god it doesn't get to that, but at this rate... I'll probably throw myself off the roof of the school to get away from all of you people."
Tohru stopped right there as he needed to calm down. Thankfully today was Saturday as he didn't have school tomorrow. He waited a few hours till it was dark, he went outside into a black BMW that he got for free at a motorcycle show a year ago. He drove around Kobe just admiring the city. It was there he saw a man with a backpack and a coat on, trying to hitchhike. Tohru stopped his car and the hitchhiker gestured for him to roll down his window.
"What are you doing out on the streets?" Tohru asked.
"Oh, I'm not homeless. Say, can I get a ride? I am a university student and I've been trying to get a ride to the train station in Shibuya for my sister's wedding, would you happen to be going to Shibuya?" the hitchhiker replied.
The hitchhiker told Tohru that he was heading to Shibuya Station and his train was leaving at 9:30 pm. Tohru thought for a moment.
"Hey, how about we go to my house, drink some beer and I can get you to Shibuya Station at about 9:20," Tohru replied.
"Perfect! Thanks, man!" the hitchhiker said with enthusiasm, then headed inside the car. He then asked Tohru for his name and he replied with a fake alias, "Geraldo Basil," and a cover story about him being a foreign exchange student from France.
"Nice to meet you, "Geraldo." I'm Kouji." Kouji replied as Tohru began to drive back to his house.
Going to his house, Kouji and Tohru drank sake cans and talked about themselves. Tohru made up lies, saying his parents were on a date and he had a girlfriend. It was then Kouji got up from the couch to get another sake, and Tohru put his hand on his left cheek, sexually. But Kouji pushed Tohru away, shocked and somewhat disgusted at the gesture.
"Why you do that?" Kouji asked.
"Was just joking around," Tohru said, unphased.
"No! I didn't like that. I thought you were hitting on me!" Kouji yelled.
Tohru didn't say anything and drank his sake. Kouji walked to Tohru and slammed the can out of his hand, causing it to land in the trash can. He then looked at the clock, it said 9:29 pm.
"Goddamnit I'm gonna miss that fucking train now! You stupid asshole!" Kouji shouted.
As Kouji started to gather his stuff, Tohru grabbed a hammer from the drawer and charged at Kouji with it, letting out a scream as well. He struck him in the back of his head with the claw and he fell to the floor, dazed but still alive. Tohru threw the hammer on the floor as Kouji struggled to breathe. Tohru took the shoelace off one of Kouji's shoes got down on the floor and tried to get him to "snap out of it," however Kouji began to fight back and choke Tohru but the latter wrapped the shoelace around his neck and strangled him half to death. Though Tohru got up thinking he had killed Kouji, he was still alive barely. Tohru went upstairs and got a trash bag and a baseball bat. He put Kouji in it, began beating him with the bat and he would die shortly after.
After beating his body, he grabbed the body and took it with him outside. It was the middle of the night and Aoyama was known to be a town where everybody would be inside after dark. Tohru walked to the Nosaka Public Bridge on the other side of town, where he threw the body into the river and it made a loud splash sound. Without any thought, Tohru began running back to his house, hoping nobody saw him. But he was sure 100% nobody saw him throw a body-filled trash bag into the river in the middle of the night, let alone a Saturday night.
