Thor is not all knowing. Which is why he didn't know that the tumor in Joyce Summers head was the result of a massive memory spell undertaken to integrate Dawn Summers into the memories of those she'd been given into the protection of. Nor did he know that Dawn herself had been artificially created using Magic. He knew she had an energy in her body that should not be there and intended to discuss its presence with the other gods, but by removing the cause of Joyce Summers headaches, the tumor, he also removed what the tumor was caused by. The memory spell itself.

Which is why everyone promptly forgot Dawn Summers existence. Everyone except himself, that is, since the spell hadn't been cast on him. Unfortunately Dawn was also affected by the memory spell and forgot her own existence as well. Murphy was having a great big belly laugh.

"Oh, that feels so much better." Joyce said. "Thank you." She slowly sat up, testing whether she would feel nauseated or dizzy as she had before. She felt neither. She really did feel much better. Then she saw the girl standing next to Thor.

"Excuse me, who are you?"

"Um, I don't know. I think I'm lost."

Thor immediately realized something had gone very wrong. His healing of Joyce Summers should not have affected her memory. As he looked around, he realized everyone in the room had no idea who this girl was. Everyone except him. This clearly needed to be investigated and he would need the other gods help to do so.

"Do not concern yourself, young one. I will help you." He assured her. "We should go. Remember, if you have need all you must do is ask." He quickly transported himself and Dawn to the area adjacent to the land of the gods and sent Dawn to sleep.

"What is going on?" Artemis asked.

"I seemed to have caused a problem. Joyce Summers was ill. A tumor. I advised her of the Accords and her right to ask a god for help. She asked and I healed her. Somehow in doing so, I erased the memory of Dawn Summers from everyone as well. Herself included."

"Dawn Summers? Who is Dawn Summers?" Artemis asked.

"I had intended to discuss that with everyone. She seems to be a sibling of Buffy Summers. One Alexander never mentioned. But Rupert Giles informed me that Alexander was quite fond of the child. If that is so, why did he never mention her? In all the time I spent training him in the use of his axes, he spoke often of the people of Sunnydale who mattered to him. But he never mentioned her. And with the healing of the tumor in Joyce Summers head, they have all forgotten her."

"Which suggests Magic was used to create those memories and the tumor was caused either by the spell itself or by the insertion of those memories. But just healing a tumor shouldn't have had this effect. What exactly did Joyce Summers ask for?"

"She asked me to help with what is causing the headaches she was experiencing."

"The word cause. That is why this happened. If the spell is responsible for the memories and the memories are responsible for the tumor, it is all connected. You could not heal the tumor without that affecting what caused the tumor."

"That makes sense. What does not make sense is Dawn Summers existence. She must have been created separately and then inserted into their lives and memories. That is a massive working of Magic. This energy I saw in her, that may be why someone went to all this trouble. We should speak to Alexander, perhaps he has some idea as to who could have done this. "

"You call him, I will explain what is going on to the others."

Thor quickly contacted Alexander and explained the situation.

"I don't remember her in our reality, but we have met her in another reality. Buffy was told that Dawn was made from the Slayer and given to her to protect. She assumed that meant they made Dawn from her."

"But Faith Lehaine is the Slayer." Thor pointed out.

"Something Buffy has a hard time acknowledging in any reality. We never got the entire story, we were trying to help them with another problem they were having and the thing with Dawn was long over anyway. But what we were told is that a Hell goddess wanted the energy to use to return to her own dimension. But since the energy had been made part of Dawn, she needed to bleed Dawn to get it. Buffy declared them one blood, mystically binding them together, though she didn't know it because she believed Dawn was her sister and threw herself into the portal. It closed and she died. Willow resurrected her. Which caused all kinds of problems on its own."

"A Hell goddess is not subject to our Accords. And unless our help is asked, we can not help them deal with her. Our own laws bind us. She would be severely weakened in this dimension, your friends may be able to deal with her themselves. I will keep an eye on the situation. I did remind them they can call for help at any time. We will need to figure out what to do with the girl. I will let you know what happens. In the meantime, Duncan McCleod consents to you being Clan McCleod."

"Thank you. If there's anything we can do to help, just call. And thanks for helping Joyce, even if it didn't turn out how you expected it to."

"We will. And I have a need to help just as you do. Take care, my son."

Even gods can make mistakes. Thor knew he'd made plenty in his time, but this one ranked right up there. Poor child, what were they going to do with her?
