Ghost Hero Phantom
Chapter 1: Goodbye Amity Park
Danny was sitting on the roof of Fentonworks staring up at the night sky. His eyes were red from all the crying he had done over the past couple of days. The past 48 hours were some of the worst Danny had ever experienced.
It started out like any other day in his 14 year old life. Danny got up all groggy after a night full of ghost hunting and he met Sam and Tucker at school. Tucker was all over his tech while Sam and Danny were making awkward small talk.
A couple months ago, after the camp incident with Wulf and Walker, Danny and Sam tried dating for about a month after they told each other that they had feelings for each other. But that made Danny suddenly become a little too overprotective of Sam during the ghost attacks and got seriously hurt after a Skulker incident when he was trying to protect her and keep her out of the way of the fight. Sam finally had enough and broke up with him after a huge fight. Tucker was the middle man in all of this and helped the two forgive each other, but both Danny and Sam realized that they were just meant to be friends. Danny was still hurt by the break up, but understood Sam's feelings. His ghostly obsession with saving people went overboard when he was dating her. So they were just working on getting their friendship back to where it used to be.
Danny did feel that Sam, and even Tucker, never truly understood him as a ghost and hero. Whenever they had talks about their problems, Danny felt that they never understood how he felt with everything that has happened to him and the struggles of being a superhero. Danny thought that maybe if he found someone who was in the same position as him, then maybe he would have someone to talk to and understand him better.
Anyway, as they were talking, Danny's ghost sense went off. Groaning, he quickly hid behind a bush and transformed into Danny Phantom. He looked around for the ghost until he saw him. Vlad Plasmius. But something felt off about him. He had a crazed look in his red eyes. Danny asked, "What do you want, Fruit Loop?" Vlad chuckled, "Why you, dear boy." Danny was shocked and asked, "Come again?" Vlad laughed maniacally and said, "I want you. Your intervention with dear Danielle cost me my new clone! I tried to develop a new one, but to no avail. So I decided if I can't clone you, then I'll just take you and force you to be my son!"
Vlad charged in and attacked Danny head on, with Danny barely able to dodge and parry Vlad's attacks. "He's literally gone insane!" Danny thought. Vlad hit Danny with a powerful ghost blast that sent him hurtling to the ground. Sam and Tucker came running, but Danny shouted, "Stay away! Vlad's gone crazy!" Vlad flew down and grabbed Danny by the throat and Danny struggled to get out of his grasp. But he hit Vald with an ice beam that made Vlad let go.
But Vlad charged in again and he and Danny were neck and neck with their attacks. "We got to help him!" Sam shouted. "How?" Tucker asked. "Danny's right. Vlad is acting more crazy than usual."
Suddenly the Fenton RV pulled up and Jack and Maddie got out and pointed their weapons at Danny and Vlad. "Freeze, ghosts!" Jack and Maddie shouted. Vlad chuckled, "Oh, look. The dimwit is here." Danny looked over at his parents and groaned, "Not now." The Fentons started firing off their weapons and Vlad just threw Danny into them and Danny screamed in pain. "Nice one, Maddie!" Jack shouted. "Thanks, honey," Maddie replied. Vlad groaned at the sight of his love showing affection with the dimwit.
Suddenly Vlad was hit in the back with a blast. He hit the ground hard. The shot was fired from Valerie, all decked out in her ghost hunting armor. Vlad tried to get off the ground, but found himself suddenly too weak to move. Valerie chuckled, "Like it? I got a new upgrade to my weapons system. This little beauty makes you weak like a baby. Easy enough to show everyone who you really are." She said this as a crowd of people had started to gather.
Suddenly two black rings emerged from Plasmius and he transformed into Vlad Masters in front of everyone. People were murmuring, "It's the Mayor. He's a ghost?" Jack and Maddie were the most shocked. "Vladdy's a ghost?" Jack asked. Maddie realized, "The accident from college. It must have made him like this."
Danny floated over to Vlad as he was getting his strength back from the attacks from his parents. "Well, this is an unexpected sight. But now it looks like your secret's out, old man." Valerie walked over with her weapon still pointed at Vlad, "I saw you after the incident with Dani. I saw you transform into Plasmius. You are just another one of those ghosts who won't leave Amity Park alone. You are going to pay for everything that you have done to our city."
Vlad chuckled, looked up and said, "If I am being exposed for what I am, then so will he!" He grabbed Valerie's arm and fired her weapon multiple times at Danny, shooting him backwards a few yards. Two white rings appeared on his body as he transformed into Danny Fenton before the crowd. Everyone was shocked, most notably his parents. "Our son is a ghost?" Jack asked. Maddie nodded. Vlad shoved Valerie away as his strength came back and he transformed back into Vlad Plasmius, "Your weapon may have worked, but not for long. But I will take advantage of this and collect my prize." He turned to Maddie and said, "And you will join me as my wife and we will raise our son Daniel together, like we always should have!" Maddie stepped back in shock.
But suddenly Jack ran and stood in front of Danny, "You are not taking away my son!" Danny looked up at his dad, "Dad? But…." "What?" Jack asked. "You thought I would disown you? Blast you to kingdom come? Maybe if you were just a ghost, but you're not. You're a ghost and my son. Never forget that." Danny started to tear up as Vlad groaned, "Well, boo hoo. I am still taking what I want. Especially from the dimwit who took everything from me!" He fired a blast at Jack, Danny tried to get up and his powers weren't coming back as quickly since Vlad fired multiple shots of Valerie's weapon at him. But then Maddie ran and pushed Jack out of the way and took the blast full force. "Mom!" Danny shouted. "Maddie!" Jack shouted as Maddie fell to the ground with blood starting to pool underneath her. Vlad took a few steps back in shock, "Maddie…." Maddie coughed some blood, "Vlad, you will never be the man I love. He's already right here." Jack started to tear up. Maddie looked back at Danny, "I always had a feeling you were Phantom. Call it a mother's intuition. But I am proud of the man you have become. My son."
She then closed her eyes and died right there. Danny sat there in shock. Vlad stood nearby in shock. Jack looked up and glared at Vlad, "You monster!" Vlad shook out of his shock and shouted, "Bring it on, dimwit!" Danny shakily stood up as Jack charged in at Vlad. Danny tried to run after him, but he wasn't at full strength yet. Valerie flew in and grabbed Jack away before Vlad could get him, "Mr. Fenton, I understand you are upset, but Plasmius is dangerous!" Suddenly Vlad blasted Valerie out of the sky and landed on the ground as her suit became damaged. Jack landed nearby and Danny ran up to him. Sam and Tucker ran up as well. The two friends looked over at Danny with somber looks in their eyes, silently telling him that they were sorry for his mother.
Vlad flew in at them, but was suddenly stopped by a hand covered by a Ghost Gauntlet. It was Jack, who smirked, "What? I was prepared for a fight." He threw a punch that sent Vlad flying back. Sam took out a Fenton Thermos from her bag, "We can try to catch him in this." Danny felt his powers coming back and said with a vengeful look in his eyes, "Fine by me."
He transformed back into Danny Phantom and flew in and charged right at Vlad. He got in some good hits until Vlad one upped him and blasted him away. That distraction caused Vlad to get hit by Jack again, but Vlad got a hold of one of the gauntlets and tore it off of Jack, causing massive pain in Jack's hand. Vlad glared at Danny, "I can't have Maddie, but I can still have you!" He flew at Danny who started to put up a ghost shield, but Jack suddenly ran in front of Danny to protect him and took the full force of the attack. "No!" Danny shouted as Jack collapsed in front of him. Vlad laughed evilly, "My bitter rival is finally no more! What a delight!"
Danny blasted Vlad away and knelt down next to Jack, trying to stop the bleeding. Jack's hand came up to Danny and he said, "Son, it's OK." Danny shook his head, "Dad. I was putting up a shield to protect myself. You didn't…" Jack chuckled, "Half-brain idea, I know. But it's what a father does. I was protecting my son." He closed his eyes and died in front of Danny. Tears started to stream down his face.
Vlad chuckled from where Danny blasted him away, "Aww. Your loved ones are dying one by one. Maybe your friends should be next. Then I will track down your sister!" Danny's eyes started to glow green as he shouted, "Never!" He sent a powerful blast that Vlad couldn't block before Vlad could hurt Sam and Tucker, who were trying to hit Vlad with some attacks from the dropped Fenton weapons. "No one else is dying today! Not on my watch!" Danny flew in and attacked Vlad nonstop and Vlad was now the one who could barely keep up. It ended with a ghostly wail from Danny and Vlad fell to the ground, barely conscious. Danny flew down next to him and raised his glowing fist to finish him once and for all.
But then a hand pulled his arm away. Danny turned to see Jazz, his sister. She was in the high school taking some AP classes when all of this was going down and followed the crowds outside when she saw her brother's secret exposed and tried to reach him, but was too late to save her mom and dad. She had tears in her eyes and said, "Danny, killing him won't bring them back." Danny's eyes started to tear up as Sam and Tucker ran over. Sam handed him the Thermos. Danny looked down at Vlad, "I will never forgive you for what you have done. You are now just another ghost to capture and put away for life." He opened the Thermos and Vlad screamed as he was sucked in. Danny closed it.
It was silent around as the crowd started to come close to the group. Suddenly crying could be heard from Danny as everything came crashing down on him. He knelt to the ground and sobbed loudly. Jazz, Sam,and Tucker wrapped their arms around him and held him. The crowd held their heads low in respect.
Suddenly a ghost portal opened above them as ghosts poured out of it. But they didn't start attacking. Instead, they floated silently and stared at Danny. Danny was confused and angry at what was going on. The Observants floated out of the portal right to Danny, "Young Phantom, you have done a great service to the Ghost Zone. We will take Plasmius and he will answer for his crimes as he has broken the cardinal rule of the Ghost Zone. All of the Zone pays their respects to you." They took the Thermos from Danny's hands as they floated back into the Zone. The other ghosts still floated there in silence. Skuler actually spoke up, "Listen, punk. We mean you no harm today. Consider this a truce for this place. We will stay away for now." Then all the ghosts flew back into the Zone and the portal disappeared.
"Danny?" Danny shook out of his thoughts as he returned to the present. He looked over and saw Jazz walking up to him. Danny sat up a bit as Jazz sat down next to him. "I just got off the phone with the lawyer," Jazz said. "Mom and Dad's will is pretty straight forward. Everything is ours. Some of the assets were willed to…him, but after what happened, that is now void. He was also listed as guardian, but that is also void. Our aunt was the second choice. But since I just turned 18, I can apply for guardianship of you." Danny looked over at Jazz, "But what about your college dreams? Do you want to be stuck taking care of someone like me?" Jazz hugged Danny, "I have been taking care of you since you were born, silly. You are my little brother, I will always love and care for you. No matter what." Danny leaned into Jazz as the tears started to flow.
Jazz pulled away and asked, "Any ghost attacks?" Danny shook his head, "No. I guess Skulker was right. They all are staying away from Amity Park. But who knows how long that will last." Jazz nodded,"At least they are being honorable. What about Sam and Tucker?" "I asked for space," Danny answered. "They argued with me about it, but conceded. Valerie too. They are at least helping to keep the press away. Even the GIW." "That's good," Jazz replied.
"I should have saved them," Danny whispered. "If I was stronger, they would still be here. Especially now that I know that they accept me for who I am. Why couldn't I….." Danny started to sob and Jazz hugged her brother again. "It's not your fault," Jazz said. "It's his and his alone. You did everything you could to help them. We all did. I understand. I wish I could have gotten there faster. So I feel guilty too." A couple tears fell down Jazz's face.
She pulled away and said, "One last thing from the lawyer I forgot to mention. We have to decide what to do with this place. Do we want to keep it? Sell it?" Danny sighed, "I know it's been our home forever, but I can't bear being here any longer. Heck, I don't think I can be in Amity Park anymore. But where would we go? Who is going to protect this place if the ghosts decide to return?"
"There is a way for both of those, young Phantom." The distant voice startled both Danny and Jazz, but then Danny recognized who it was. "Clockwork," Danny muttered as the time ghost appeared in front of them. Danny's eyes glowed green with anger as he shouted, "Where were you?! Why didn't you warn me that this would happen? Why didn't you stop it from happening?!" Jazz held Danny back from attacking Clockwork, who sighed, "I am sorry, Danny. Yes I did know it would happen, but I could not intervene. I already broke that rule during the Dark you incident, and couldn't again. I am sorry that you had to experience this. I truly am."
Danny slumped his shoulders as Jazz asked, "What do you mean by what you said?" Clockwork answered, "I'll start with the second one. Skulker was correct that the ghosts will stay away from Amity Park. The higher ups are making sure of that. Out of respect for you and your sacrifice. As for the first part, I can take you to a world that has heroes like yourself and you can thrive and grow there. If that is your choice." "What do you mean by world?" Danny asked. Clockwork smirked, "As you know, there are many portals in the Ghost Zone. But what you don't know is that some of those portals can take you to another Earth, different from this one. There is one in particular that you can go to where you can start a new life there, if you choose to."
Danny thought for a minute, and looked back at Jazz, who asked, "Is this something that you want to do, little brother?" Danny sighed and said, "I think so. Maybe a new world will help me." Jazz smiled, "Then I'm coming with you." Danny's eyes widened, "What? But…." "No," Jazz said. "I am your guardian now, and where you go, I go. I could use a fresh start too." Clockwork smiled, "Of course. As I knew you would." Danny sighed, "I figured you'd say that. So, when can we leave?" "You will leave in three days," Clockwork answered. "A portal will appear to the Ghost Zone right here. I'll be waiting." He then disappeared back to the Zone. Jazz sighed, "Well, I guess we have to get our affairs in order and say our goodbyes then." Danny nodded solemnly.
Three days later, Danny and Jazz were back on the roof and Sam, Tucker, and Valerie were with them. Danny had told them about the plan. Sam and Tucker immediately said they were coming too, but Danny put his foot down. They still had their families here and if Amity Park gets attacked by ghosts, they were the logical choice to protect the city. Valerie agreed and told Danny that Amity Park would be safe in their hands. Jazz got their affairs settled with the lawyer. All of the assets were put into a trust and Fentonworks was shut down for good. Danny himself closed the Ghost Portal in the basement and turned it off so no ghosts could get through it ever again.
Suddenly a portal opened and Jazz said, "I think it's time." Danny nodded and looked back to his friends, "I'll miss you guys." Sam and Tucker hugged Danny tightly. "We'll miss you too, man," Tucker said. "We'll be here when you need us," Sam added. Valerie nodded in agreement. Danny pulled away and wiped the tears that were about to leak down his face. Danny then transformed into Phantom and grabbed his sister by the waist. Then he floated them up to the portal. He looked back one last time at his friends and his former home. "Goodbye, Amity Park," Danny whispered. Then he and Jazz went through the portal and then the portal vanished.
Danny and Jazz floated through the Ghost Zone for a while until they were met by Clockwork and a bunch of other ghosts, Skulker, Technus, Desiree, Ember, Frostbite, Johnny, Kitty, and even Box Ghost. Danny was surprised by the turnout. Ember answered Danny's unspoken question, "We just wanted to see you off, baby pop. Since this is the last time we all will be seeing you for who knows how long. We may not be enemies anymore, but we will still miss the beatings we all gave you." Some of the other ghosts laughed at that. Frostbite then said, "We shall miss you greatly, oh Great One." Jazz looked puzzled at Danny, who just shrugged, "I'll tell you later."
Clockwork floated to them, "Through this portal is the new world waiting for you." The portal showed a city brimming with activity. "This is a city very close to Tokyo, Japan, your new home." Danny was shocked, "Japan? But we can't speak Japanese. Wish we could." Clockwork nodded to Desiree who floated toward them, "Your wish is my command." She used her genie magic on Danny and Jazz. Technus then floated toward them, "I, Technus, have used my ghostly powers to create new identities for you in this new world. Any document you need, you got it. Money, check. It will be like you two have lived in this world for your whole puny lifespans. With some aide from Ms. Genie here." Desiree nodded in agreement.
Clockwork pointed his staff to the portal, "Look closer." Danny and Jazz looked at the portal and saw people in costumes running/flying around, chasing criminals and whatnot. "This world is filled with people that have powers known as Quirks," Clockwork explained. "They manifest in different ways. Some are more physical than others. You, young Phantom, will be registered with the Quirk: Ghost." "Registered?" Danny asked. Clockwork nodded, "Yes. In this world, you have to register in order to become a superhero. It's like needing a driver's license. Otherwise, no hero work for you. Unless you want to get arrested." Danny groaned as Jazz asked, "What about me?" Clockwork answered, "Your quirk will be Empath. You will be able to detect emotions and feelings in others and give them emotions and feelings in return. Since you wanted to become a psychologist, I felt this was appropriate. So just wish it." Desiree floated over and Jazz made the wish, with Desiree granting it.
Clockwork waved his staff and a folder appeared in Jazz's hands, "Everything you need will be in that folder. Documents, credit cards, even keys to your new apartment. When you go through the portal, you will land in front of where you two will be living." Danny looked up at Clockwork, "Thank you. And I mean that to everyone." Clockwork nodded as Danny took Jazz's hand, "Ready, sis?" Jazz nodded, "Ready, little brother." Then they floated into the portal and it closed behind them.
The Observants appeared next to Clockwork. One of them asked, "Why didn't you tell the boy about….." Clockwork stopped him, "I know what you want to ask. But now is not the time for him to know. He will learn about that at a later time. For now, he needs to adjust to his new home, along with his sister." "But he needs to prepare!" Another Observant shouted. Clockwork shook his head, "Not for that. But don't worry. He is preparing. Just not in the way you think. He will grow and become the greatest ghost hero the Zone has ever known. Because as you know, I know everything."
