Prologue: Setting the Mood

It is a world of darkness we are living in.

Vampires. Descendants of the first murderer, Cain, seek the blood of mortals in order to survive unless they let their Beast consume them. They slowly manipulate what the mortals see to prevent any breaches of their Masquerade in order to secure their place in every pocket of human society.

Fera. Avatars of Gaia's wrath. Shapeshifting creatures that are waging war against the servants of the Wyrm and those that would destroy the natural world around them. Massacres done by them are blamed on wild animals in order to explain the gruesome murders of the servants and the traitors. The most fearsome of them all are the Garou, the Werewolves, as they let their rage consume them when on a hunt.

Ghosts. Spirits of the dead. There are many different kinds that lurk within the living world as they traverse between Earth and the Shadowlands. Some are trying to come to terms with their death. Others seek a second chance at life.

There other creatures and powerful mortals that control the world from the shadows. Mages that are in a war between resurrection the ancient ways of magic and the rise of technological revolutions such as the Technocratic Union and the Council of Nine Mystic Traditions. Many Kithain, fairies, fled from their home in Arcadia in order to survive on what little Glamour they can gather hidden in plain sight before losing to the Banality. Demons slowly escaping into the realm of the mortals, Mummies have started to rise from their slumber, mutated humans have started to rise, the Wyrm continues to spread its corruption.

The only defense against such threats are the Hunters. Mortals who have banded together by fate or common threat, they are the secret ones that hunt down the terrors of the night. Some are on the force of good. Others hunt monsters for more perverse reasons. They are neither heroes or villains as they kill anyone or anything that cross their path. But are they enough to deal with what will come next?

On the year 2020, the first signs of the apocalypse have been sighted as one of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse have been seen galloping. Pestilence was unleashed upon the world that has spread a worldwide epidemic that mortals call, the coronavirus, as he spread his vile influence to let the world know how fragile mortals and their civilizations are. Spreading even more mutated variants to remind all that he still exist.

War has been seen even more so after Pestilence as he oversees the new wars that have been cropping up. Reveling in the hatred, the suffering and the desperation of man in gleeful spite. Many say he is galloping faster and faster as a big, epic battle will take place sooner in the not so distant future.

Famine is slowly following behind. Not because of the starvation of the children of Adam and Eve. He is focus on the starvation of the supernatural beings. Kithain slowly dying from a lack of Glamor, Vampires constantly need to feed on Vitae, the Wyrm wanting to feed on more than just corruption. Soon all will die hungry as the cataclysm reaches its final hour.

Death has been galloping around the world nonstop as he continues to release souls from their moral coil, pass judgment on innocent and guilty alike, and the eternal mediator between heaven, hell, purgatory and the living. Many claim that he is galloping faster and faster as the time of judgment draws ever closer and closer. Once he has stopped, there will be no death for all in the living world as many beg for him to end their suffering after the final battle.

Soon, the Gates of the Abyss will be torn from their hinges. A final battle between the Fallen and Elohim will ensue as the mortals and non-mortals will suffer from whatever nightmarish end times they will face. Apocalypse. Gehenna. Judgment Times. Doomsday. Whatever happens, the End of Days will happen with all of life being extinguished with the living world becoming a hellish wasteland as there will be no differences between the worlds as they all become one with endless agony and suffering for all. All shall face judgment as the lush world will become barren. Waters stagnant and toxic. Minds shattered and insane. Cities turned to dust and ruin. There will be no hope in a hopeless future as all shall become nothing more than shadows of their former selves with madmen as kings, savage brutality is the norm, and there will be no innocents in a world of survival of the fittest.

Is there any hope of stopping it? Is there anyway to prevent such a bleak and grimdark future for a world that is already dark?
What or who has the power to stop such insanity?
