CHAPTER SIXTY-NINE
Website where all photos of all outfits mentioned is on my profile. Have to say that the season premiere of Sons didn't excite me as much as I thought it would. It was a little anticlimactic for me. Though seeing Charlie shirtless is always good, apart from the whole blood splatter thing.
Derek comes home from work that night and tells Cam that the only opening she has if she wants to use the plane is for Wednesday, and if we all agree he needs to know within the hour so he can get the flight manifest lodged and the pilots notified. She doesn't even turn around; the heads of the four Sons nodding furiously behind her unnoticed when she says that it'll be fine.
Bright and early Tuesday morning Al, Donna, Ellie and I are woken to go dress shopping by Cam tapping on each of our doors till she gets a response. The guys are set to go be measured for their suits later in the day but they're also on baby duty while we're gone, ignoring all the chain stores Trish leads the way in the Cobra that I've been itching to take for a drive since it arrived, but keep being put off, Cam follows her in the Mercedes straight to one of Trish's friends who has a small boutique store and the five of us walk out 2 hours later with dresses for the charity dinner. Trish makes us dawdle over lunch, knowing that if we got back before the guys left at 1 we'd be left with the two boys even though their fathers had agreed to take them.
With the dresses that I'm sure we'll only wear once safely tucked in the wardrobes of the bedrooms the five of us take the rest of the day to lounge around downstairs, watching TV while Trish goes to the office for the afternoon.
The guys arrive back just before 6 looking exhausted, all of them sitting down on chairs or in Jax's case collapsing across the loveseat I was on and dropping his head in my lap.
Happy looks over at Cam "This one suit better be good for every single thing that you ever expect me to go to that needs me to look like a monkey."
Cam bursts out laughing and gets to her feet, bringing back a tray of beers and a bottle of whiskey with a stack of tumblers "I'm sure it wasn't that bad."
Happy looks over at her through narrowed eyes "The guy came within an inch of touching my cock babe. No one with a dick should be that close to me."
I snicker and Jax looks up at me with a smirk that tells me he has some story about what happened that he can't wait to share with me. "How were the boys?"
Opie sighs "Abel was fine; we found something for him at a store as we walked past. Kenny, well he wasn't so good."
Kenny looks up from his seat on the floor and pouts at his mom "Dad wouldn't let me get the totally cool purple suit."
Derek chuckles "Eggplant. It was eggplant."
Donna shakes her head "Eggplant is just dark purple isn't it?"
Derek nods and Opie groans "You could have had the purple suit, but there was no way you were having a purple suit and a bright green shirt."
Jax shudders "Seriously D, the shirt was lime green."
9am the following morning we're back on the plane for the 2 hour flight to Wisconsin so we can go to the museum. Landing in Milwaukee at 10am local time the guys all hurry off in search of a couple of taxis for the 11 of us, Derek and Trish having stayed behind to organise final details of dinner, and do normal boring work stuff we'd been told when Happy had asked if they were coming.
The drive to the museum isn't long and by the time we get there all five males in the group are practically vibrating with excitement. Donna grabs my hand as we walk towards the entrance "Don't suppose we could leave them here and go have coffee then a really long lunch, to conveniently be back here at 6 when we need to leave?"
Opie answers for me by grabbing Donna's hand and pulling her towards something just inside the door exclaiming that she 'has to seeā¦'
With the huge amount of bikes to look at I'm not surprised when we're still there at 12 and the kids all start getting ratty. Looking at the map I've got I drag Jax to a stop "Us girls are going to take the kids to get some food and have a drink. Are you coming?"
Jax looks around, his eyes drifting over the rest of the stuff he hasn't looked at when his stomach rumbles and he laughs "I guess I'm coming."
All of us end up at the Motor restaurant and between the 11 of us we end up ordering a huge variety of things. Donna makes me laugh when she almost stabs Opie in the hand when he reaches for one of her onion rings but it takes my mind off Al and Juice who are being sickeningly sweet at the end of the table and feeding each other from their plates. Kenny takes one look at them and announces he never wants to have a girlfriend. He then proceeds to dive into his sloppy joe with a relish that makes me cringe. Opie's order of a full slab of baby back ribs makes me laugh when it should be attached to the side of a Fred Flintstone car but he manages to polish them all off, and half my fries that came with the fried chicken sandwich I got.
Much to the kids disgust we bypass dessert but the promise from Uncle Jax of a present from the shop before leave brightens them both up.
The next 2 hours we get around the rest of the museum, the camera's that both Donna and I had brought with us being used on each of the Sons and multiple exhibits. As we're going into the shop Jax stops beside a bike with a frown "This is almost the same as JT's."
I compare the picture I have in my mind of the teal bike that Jax and Opie rebuilt and the black one in front of me. "It may be almost the same baby but it's not JT's."
Jax chuckles "I know. It's just amazing how different they look given they're both the same year bike."
I look blankly at him and he chuckles again, tossing his arm around my shoulders and pulling me fully into the store "Doesn't matter Darlin'."
Neither of us buy a heck of a lot, I pick up a bag that looks like an old saddlebag, complete with studs, but is the size of a handbag. Jax picks out four t-shirts for himself, one for Kenny and a jacket for Ellie that she shoves her arms into and refuses to take off, even though it's about 5 sizes too big. Donna agrees with a silent nod and Opie crouches down beside his son and whispers in his ear, which makes Kenny's face split into a huge smile as he runs to the jackets and picks one out as well. Ellie pouts till her mother tells her quietly that they'll buy her one shirt as well and the now smiling girl hurries to join her brother.
Donna shrugs when I look at her "Can't have one having two things and not the other, that's what causes sibling rivalry which would be worse with them already having to share a birthday."
I giggle and put my arm around her neck "No need to explain D."
