"You're master Kyo's friend aren't you?" Tohru nodded. "Yes, my name is Tohru. I was wondering if I could talk to his father?" The maid looked worried and then nodded. She opened the door and allowed Tohru in.
Tohru walked to the study where his father was sitting there in silence. "Mr. Soma?" called Tohru. He turned and looked at Tohru. "What are you doing here? Here to talk to me about my pathetic excuse for a son."
Anger boiled in Tohru. "I don't understand how you can talk about Kyo the way that you do." she said with anger in her voice. He looked at her. "You weren't there, girl. He embarrassed his mother and me. He killed his mother. I bet that he didn't tell you that."
Tohru shook her head with a frown. "He didn't have to. You did it for him." He looked at her. "Let me guess, you believe him when he says he didn't kill her." Tohru nodded. "And I do. He didn't do this to his mother. He didn't cause his mother to kill herself."
His father scoffed. "What do you know!?" He screamed, throwing a glass across the room. Tohru flinched slightly. "I may not have been there that day, but I know that Kyo didn't cause his mother to die. Her death isn't Kyo's fault. And you have no right to blame him for it."
He rolled his eyes. "Get the hell out of my house! I don't need a sympathizer for a killer!" he screamed. Tohru nodded. She stopped and looked at him. "Your son is the most compassionate, caring, and protective boy I know."
"And I thank God every day that Master raised him to be that way. Because it's obvious he didn't get those traits from benign raised by you. Cat or not, he is your son. And you shouldn't blame him for anything that happened."
"You blamed him because it was easier to blame him than to accept that you had a hand in her death. I heard Kyo that day. That you had called her and Kyp both failures and that you wished they weren't around."
"Thank God Kyo was raised by the right Soma." she spits out. She turned and walked the hall. "You think that I will let that disgusting monster live his life together with you, you are mistaken! I will never let Kyo know peace as long as I live!" he screamed.
Tears fell from Tohru's eyes as she walked the streets to return to the main estate. She couldn't understand that the boy she loved with all her heart was hated by his own father. She couldn't wrap her head around it.
"Tohru?" came a voice. She looked up and saw Kyo walking toward her. She looked at him in surprise. "You're here? What are you doing here?" he walked to her. "It was late and I was wondering what you were doing here still. I was surprised to come and be told that you weren't at the main estate."
Tohru looked at the ground with a frown. She fought back her tears. "Hey." He picked up her head with his hand caressing her cheek. "What's wrong? Did Akito hurt your feelings?" she shook her head and she just hugged Kyo and cried.
Kyo wrapped his arms around her and rested his chin on her head. "What happened, Tohru?" She picked her head up and looked into his eyes. "I went to see your father." she said. Kyo looked at her in shock. "What? Why?" he asked.
"I wanted to see if I could understand his hatred for you. Because I can't imagine having a parent that despises me as much as he does you. And then I gave him a piece of my mind and left." Kyo smiled and kissed her head.
"I'm sure you did." He separated from her and looked at her. "But I still don't understand why you went there without me." Tohru looked at the ground for a moment and then back to Kyo. "I just wanted to understand. But I don't."
"The boy I love is hated by his father, and it doesn't have anything to do with you being the cat again." Kyo took her hand and sat her down by a fountain. "Tohru, my father has hated me my whole life."
"He hated me since the moment he knew I was born the cat. I was the disgusting child. I was the abomination. I was the embarrassment of the Soma Clan." Tohru shook her head. "It shouldn't matter. That's your son."
She looked at him. "If we ever had kids and our child was born a member of the Zodiac, I would love that child unconditionally." Kyo locked eyes with her. "That's because you are just a beautiful person, Tohru."
"You are the most loving and understanding, compassionate person that I have ever known. But not every parent is meant to be a parent. Not every parent in the zodiac loves their kid. I'm sure bunny boy told you that."
Tohru nodded and sighed. Kyo took her hand. She looked at him. "I have made my peace when it comes to my father. And I'm starting to realize that the death of my mom isn't my fault anymore. She made her own decision."
"But I want to do one more thing, and I will be free from him forever. I'm telling him Im leaving and Im living my life my own way, with you." Tohru smiled. "So," she looked at him. "You're already thinking about having kids?" he asked, blushing.
Tohru started to panic. "I mean not right now! By I was thinking maybe sometime in the future! I assumed that we would still be together! But I was hoping someday!" she panicked. Kyo shut her up with a kiss. "Calm down." he said with a smile.
He stood up and helped her up. "Do you want me to come with you?" Kyo looked at her and nodded. "Did he throw you out?" she blushed and nodded. Kyo laughed. "Finally, we have something in common." he said laughing. Tohru laughed and she took his hand. "Let's go."
Kyo nodded and they walked back to the house. Kyo opened the door of the house. "Master Kyo, you shouldn't be here. And neither should she. You will only anger him more." she begged, chasing after them.
Kyo walked to the study and stood there. "I won't be here for long, because I have packing to do. But I'm here to say something." His father whipped his head around and glared at him. "Get the hell out of here! And take your bitch with you!"
Before Tohru could move or blink Kyo's father was on the ground. He had a red mark on his face. Tohru gasped as she looked at Kyo. "You can say anything to me. Call me whatever you want, but leave Tohru out of it," he said, a dark look in his eyes.
Tohru walked over to him and put her hand on his shoulder, that look leaving as soon as he looked at her. His father stumbled to his feet and leaned on his desk. "You dare to strike me in my own house!? YOU!? The cat!" he screamed.
Kyo looked at his father. "I'm just here to tell you that you will never see me again." His father gasped. "Since the curse is broken, I'm leaving this place. And I'm never coming back again. I am allowing myself to live."
"I tried to run for my whole life, blame others so I don't die from the guilt and Im done doing that. I am going to live my life on the outside world with Tohru. I am going to make a life with Tohru. And I will never give you another thought. After today, you don't exist to me."
Kyo's father went to slap him and Kyo caught his hand. "You will never strike me again. I will be free of the guilt that you pushed onto me. I am going to live my life with the love of my life. And there is nothing you can do about it."
He pushed his father away and his father looked at him, terrified. "You are dead to me, father." said Kyo. He turned and took Tohru's hand and they walked out of the room. "Like I told the girl, I will never allow you to live a happy life. You are too unforgivable!" he screamed.
Kyo and Tohru walked out of the house and Kyo looked at the sky. He looked down at her with a loving smile. He leaned down and kissed Tohru long and lovingly. Tohru smiled into the kiss. They separated. "I'm really and truly free," he said with a smile. Tohru smiled and kissed him again
Tohru wiped her window and she sighed. "Alright. I'm all done." Kyo looked at her and around the room. "Wow. It's so empty now." Tohru nodded. She turned and frowned. "Are you okay?" asked Kyo.
Tohru fought her tears. "I'm just a little sad. Saying goodbye to all the memories that I had in this house. Meeting Shigure and Yuki. Them asking me to live with them. You crashing through the roof." Kyo blushed.
"Okay, not my finest moment." Tohru smiled and she looked at him. "I wouldn't change any memory that I've had in this house." Kyo smiled and kissed the side of her head. There was a knock on the door frame. They turned to Yuki standing there.
"Oh Yuki, welcome home," she said with a smile. Yuki returned the smile and looked at Kyo. "I was hoping to talk to Ms. Honda," he said. Kyo looked at Yuki and nodded. Tohru walked over to Yuki. "Would you mind coming outside with me?" she shook her head.
They sat on the porch. "So tomorrow's the big day, huh?" asked Yuki. Tohru smiled. "Yep," she said. He looked at her. "I guess that's the last "welcome home" I'll get from you then." Tohru frowned and looked at the ground.
"But even so, I'm happy." She looked at him. "Happy for you, but also happy for myself too. The "me" I've become. Before, I was weak. I wanted to connect- to be needed and loved. I yearned for it so badly and for so long."
"But I didn't know how to reach out to get it. Then one day out of nowhere, here you are, coming into my life. You appeared, and made it all come true. You granted my deepest wish, and asked for nothing in return. You gave me so much."
"I'm the strong person I want to be, because of you. You helped me become a person. You accepted every weakness, every flaw, and turned it into strength. You were always there. Giving me and protecting me, like a mother." Tears filled Tohru's eyes.
Yuki smiled and looked at her. "I was finally able to tell you how I feel. How much you mean to me. And I'm sure that the others feel that way about you too. We all love and care about you, and we will always think about you."
He stood up. "We will carry you with us in our thoughts and our hearts, always. Thank you." Tohru gasped, wiping the tears from her face. "Thank you for everything you have done for us. Thank you for allowing us into your heart."
He held his hand out and helped her up. "Thank you so much…..Tohru." Tears of happiness streamed down her face. She walked over and hugged him. "So long, Tohru." He said with a smile. Tohru smiled and nodded. "I'll see you again, soon."
Yuki walked away, meeting Machi. Tohru wiped her eyes and she walked back up the stairs. She walked to her bedroom and stood in the doorway. Kyo walked over to her. "Are you okay?" he asked, thumbing the tears from her face.
She nodded. "Just saying goodbye to Yuki." Kyo kissed her. "Are you ready to go tomorrow?" Tohru looked at him and nodded. "I'm ready. I'm ready for my future with you." she said with a smile.
