Chapter Four:

Hedgehog Reunion

Note:

I'M BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!

Been a few years, but after focusing on other stuff and getting sidetracked and after talking with a friend on Twitter, I've finally decided to return to this story. I planned to go back to it eventually, Epic Sonic was on my mind somewhere and I was never going to scrap this. At last, without anymore delay, LETS GET INTO CHAPTER FOUR! And don't worry about the next chapter of the Sonic x Vampirella story, folks, that story is far from finished!

"Are you really there?!" Sonic called, "I hope it's not a trick by someone we know!"

"Sonic, if it was a trick by Robotnik, we'd see it coming from a mile away." Sonia told him in a half-chiding voice.

"Your sister has a point, sonny." Chuck's voice called, "I am very much real, and I want to help you! We don't have much time, Robotnik may have fled, but his forces are active in this place. I just barely managed to avoid a couple of Swatbot patrols, but it won't be long until a platoon of 'em will be upon us! Now, hurry up so we can see each other!"

Sonic looked at Sonia. "It sure does sound like him." He quipped, "But what do I do. Go fast or don't go fast. I missed the guy, and this is one of those 'gotta go fast' scenarios."

Sonia gave the hedgehog a somewhat encouraging, but eye-brow raised look. 'Just go fast.' The pink piano-wielding hedgehog told the speedster wordlessly. Sonic nodded, then he spun his legs and his hand gripped the magic paint brush that he still had with him. The blue blur built up enough juice, then he blasted through the cobblestone castle halls at high speed.

'Please let it be real. Please let it be actually him.' Sonic thought.

He turned around a corner and skidded to a halt, finding a blue hedgehog with a mustache in a coat waiting for him, leaning against the wall with a smile. Sonic's mind exploded like a firecracker, and he was flooded with several emotions all at once. He recognized that twinkle in the mustached hedgehog's eye, and it had been so many years since he last interacted with him.

Who cared if he wasn't created by the Japanese branch and was only made to be part of a cartoon that didn't follow the lore of Sonic's video game series, who cared if he was also strictly in a comic and two cartoons, Charles "Chuck" the Hedgehog would always be Sonic's uncle...

"Hey, sonny boy." Chuck said, saying the words Sonic never thought he'd hear again after all this time.

"Uncle Chuck!" Sonic ran towards the hedgehog and hugged him tight, laughing with happiness, and he danced around while picking up Uncle Chuck. Sonia came running in, and she stood back, watching the reunion with a smile.

"Told ya I was damn close." Chuck told Sonic.

"And darned right you were." Sonic said, "I haven't seen you in so long, can't believe you wound up in this world. I thought you'd gone on a long overseas trip or had gone to an elderly retirement home, it was hard to not think of you, no matter how hard the Japanese representatives tried to erase you from our memories."

"A shame people like us are forgotten, eh?" He heard his uncle remark, "I've been alright. It was a while before I wound up here, but things weren't too bad at first, and I often heard about what was going on in your world. Word has it you have a movie coming out, I hope it's real successful, sonny boy."

Just then, an alarm wailed and a robotic buzz rang out: "HEDGEHOG PRIORITY ONE! CAPTURE HEDGEHOG! PREPARE FOR ROBOTICIZATION! NEUTRALIZE, CAPTURE, ROBOTICIZE! HEDGEHOG PRIORITY ONE!"

Sonic and Uncle Chuck turned, Sonia primed her piano blaster, and, for the first time in what felt like literal decades, the blue blur found himself laying his eyes upon a legion of bulky humanoid robots as they ran through the halls toward the three hedgehogs with their red eyes staring ominously at the group, their sights locked onto Sonic just like the old days.

'I didn't think I'd be facing those guys again.' The speedster thought, 'Looks like Saturday Morning Robotnik really means business.'

"Okay, Sonic!" He heard Sonia say, "Its spin and wind time!"

'Spin-and-wind time.' It had been years since he heard that, he never forgot that line, and neither did he forget the saying 'let's do it to it'. Sonic was tempted to say that part. And without a word, as the Swatbots came closer, the hedgehog ran towards them and smashed into the first batch with a spin-dash, knocking them to the ground in a heap.

Sonia leaped into the fray, unleashing her piano blaster, and Chuck, to Sonic's surprise, joined the fight as well. The elderly hedgehog pulled out a wrench, and he knocked over a Swatbot so hard, it exploded in a pile of scrap metal.

The blue blur grinned at his sister and their uncle, then he faced the next batch of Swatbots. It was on like Antoine...
