Justice League X RWBY :The Scars we never let heal, Chapter 2
"I wouldn't worry too much about it, that Batman guy was pretty smart last time I met him, I'm sure he'll track down the dust in no time," Jaune said optimistically as the two walked down the street slowly making their way downtown.
"We can't afford to take a risk like that," Jessica replied as she pulled her hood on her jacket over her head.
"You said they could use it to go to Remnant… but why would they want to do that?" Jaune asked.
"There's two possibilities that concern me, first, they came for the dust, which means they had to have been listening into the Justice League's communications, which means they could get ahead of us and try to make the Grimm Pathogen immune to the dust's ability to destroy it. Secondly, dust is an energetic enough particle that it maintains its state after traveling between universes." Jessica explained.
"And what's the significance of that?" Jaune asked.
"It means unlike everything else that came over to this world from Remnant, the Dust will stay the same, so they can use it to put a track on your universe and make a portal to there," Jessica explained.
"That does sound scary, though I still can't figure out why they would want to go there," Jaune asked.
"Uhg, the leader of the Red Lanterns doesn't just want my world to become a hellscape of rage, but all worlds in all universes, they grow stronger the more they claim, are you telling me your world is in a position to stop a Red Lantern invasion?" Jessica asked.
"Certainly not, to be honest we have been losing pretty badly to the villains we already have," Jaune replied.
"I'm… I'm sorry to hear that," Jessica said, feeling guilty of taking him away from his friends for this long.
"Soo what's the plan?" Jaune asked.
"We're going to see a friend of mine first,"
The two walked for a while not talking much as Jaune could tell Jessica's heart was heavy.
"Jessica, if you need to talk about something with me you can," Jaune said as he peaked down a bit so he could look into her eyes that were hidden under her hood.
" Sigh, I try to put on a front, that I'm not like the insecure wreck you met in the simulation, but… I just almost died… to a rookie level threat… they are right to think I'm a incompetent Green Lantern," Jessica said, sounding angry with herself.
"What that's nonsense, first off, that was no rookie level threat, no civilian or even military could have dealt with them." Jaune said passionately.
Jessica crossed her arms as they walked, still frustrated as she tried to listen to him.
"One thing I've learned being a huntsman, the stories are all wrong, the heroes don't always win, in fact they lose a lot, but we keep fighting." Jaune explained.
Jessica finally removed her hood and gave him eye attention to pay attention better as his words of encouragement started to make her feel warm inside.
"When I started, I cheated my way into Beacon academy, had the worst huntsman scores, I hadn't even unlocked my aura, I was the least qualified person in the school," Jaune said, turning to face her as they stopped at a crosswalk and waited for the traffic light.
"What happened," Jessica asked softly.
"I trained, I studied, I had friends that believed in me, but most importantly… I lost, I lost a lot, a whole school year of nothing but the worst scores. But I didn't quit because I had people counting on me. So lose at times, it's okay, it doesn't make you anymore or any less of a person if you do or don't fail… what defines who you are is what you do after you fail, and judging by where you are now, I'd bet you have a pretty good record on what you decide to do after you fail." Jaune explained with a kindness that made Jessica almost want to cry.
"Thank you Jaune, you're a really good friend," Jessica replied while wiping her eyes.
Jaune smiled back at her, happy to see her smiling at what he said. "Oh the light is green," Jaune said as he noticed the crosswalk sign.
"I guess crosswalks are the same in your world," Jessica stated, trying to lighten the mood a bit.
"Yup they are," Jaune replied.
"Is that a giant Hospital?" Jaune said, dumbfounded at the size of the complex.
"Yes, this is actually a relatively small Hospital," Jessica replied as she led him towards the entrance.
Jessica then led him through hallway after hallway of the hospital, it seemed like a giant maze to him.
"This way," Jessica said as they got in an elevator.
"So… Umm just be cool, and try not to mention anything related to you being from another world," Jessica said, seemingly kinda nervous.
"Keep it cool I can do," Jaune replied, sounding really corny.
"Kehk," Jessica chuckled as she led him out of the elevator and down another hallway.
"Knock knock," Jessica said as she peeked her head into a long-term recovery room.
"Jessica! How's my favorite pain in the ass doing?" A dark skinned middle aged man who was laying in the hospital bed with a cast around his leg.
"Hey Simon, Good to see you two," Jessica replied as she walked into the room and gave him a hug. Jaune then slowly stepped into the room behind Jessica.
"Oh um, this is my former work partner Simon Baz, and Simon, this is a friend of mine, Jaune Arc." Jessica elaborated, introducing them to each other.
"A friend you say? Nah nah I don't believe it, Jessica doesn't make friends haha" Simon teased.
"Don't be so dramatic Simon," Jessica replied.
"Come here Kid, where ya from?" Simon asked as he offered his hand out to shake.
"Nice to meet you Simon, I'm from… Um… Mexico," Jaune replied as he accepted the handshake offer, only to be intimidated by how firm Simon's handshake was.
"Mexico!? haha Forgive me but you don't exactly look the part, I'm not sure I buy that." Simon replied with a laugh.
"Well you see…" Jaune muttered trying to figure out what to say.
"His family is from the northeast, but work in the tourism industry down there," Jessica said, cutting Jaune off.
"I see, Hey if you can get me any discounts on hotels down there let me know, I might bite on a little vacation south of the border," Simon replied.
"I'm not sure I can do that but I'll let you know," Jaune said nervously.
"I didn't mean to be rude, you don't have to do anything, especially if it's gonna get you in trouble," Simon explained.
"Sooo… I brought Jaune here because he has something to offer I think you will enjoy," Jessica said.
Jessica then gave Jaune a nod as he walked over and gripped Simon's cast. "What are you… Ooohh that's the stuff…" Simon said as he felt the sweat relief of his leg healing as Jaune started using his powers on him.
After about a minute he was done, Jaune stepped back taking a few deep breaths, tired from using his abilities.
Simon then began taking all the monitoring sensors off of himself as he leaned over and got out of bed.
He put his feet on the ground, first his good leg, then he forced the other lag straight as the cast strained and broke.
"Damn, Ain't that something, Simon said as he marveled at how well his leg healed.
"Now you can go back to being her work partner again," Jaune said with a sorta childish glee.
"Nah nah nah, She with the Justice League now, going back to working with me would certainly be a downgrade," Simon replied.
"You're probably itching to get back to solo missions without me dragging you down," Jessica said with a small chuckle.
"You kidding, Hell yea I am… But no in all seriousness you were never slowing me down, even though Hal fusing out power lanterns together was a dick move," Simon said.
"I think he knew we both would prefer solitude to working with each other," Jessica reasoned.
"Yea, and in the end she saved my butt a few times so it all worked out for the best," Simon said.
"I recall you saving me more times," Jessica replied.
"It's not a scoring competition, who saved who how many times doesn't matter. You having each other's backs is all that mattered," Jaune spoke up, interjecting his opinion.
"I couldn't have said it better myself," Simon replied after a brief pause of thought.
"So you've been ordered to stand down?" Simon said as they sat in the cafeteria now, Simom all dressed now and out of hospital garbs.
"Yes… I just, feel like I have to do something… Like, how am I upholding the oath I took to the Green Lantern corps if I'm just standing around letting others try to find assailants that I already know how to find," Jessica replied as she placed her forehead into the palm of her hand.
"Why don't we just tell the others how to find them? They didn't say you couldn't talk to them," Jaune said.
"I can't, my idea for finding them… Would break a few rules," Jessica explained timidly.
"Break rules? When did you become a Rebel Jessica!? Hahaha" Simon said, teasing her.
"The ring Sinestro gave me… I still have it…" Jessica explained sheepishly as she fiddled with her hair nervously.
"What! Wha… I thought you destroyed that…Wha…What are you thinking Jessica," Simon asked, deeply concerned.
"With that ring I could sense their fear to get their location immediately," Jessica replied, leaning in closer to them and speaking a bit more quietly.
"But at what cost?" Simon asked, his tone almost pleading with her to reconsider.
"Wait, what does this ring do?" Jaune asked curiously.
"What powers are Green Lantern rings is will power, it is generally seen as the greatest force of good in the universe. The Yellow ring on the other hand" - "Is Fear" Simon explained before Jessica cut in and finished his sentence.
"That seems kinda risky," Jaune replied.
"That's a hell of an understatement… Jessica, why would Sinestro give you that ring and not ask anything of you?" Simon asked.
"It was the only ring he had to offer me so I could fly back to Earth," Jessica replied.
"You really believe that?" Simon asked.
"I…I don't see why it's relevant to what's going on now," Jessica replied.
"Jessica… he knows your struggles with fear, he gave you that ring because he knew it would tempt you to his side," Simon explained sternly.
"Sigh…Listen when I used the ring to get back to Earth, I could tell it was not as simple as his side and our side…fear has been around a lot longer than Sinestro. Yellow Lanterns usually only use their powers to intimidate and control people, yet I used it to help people." Jessica replied, her eyes pleading for him to trust her.
"So did Sinestro turn to the power of the yellow ring to "help" people, Jessica… whatever you do, please don't put that ring on…" Simon said.
"Bye see you later," Jessica said as she and Jaune waved to Simon as he drove away from the hospital.
"He was nice," Jaune said.
"Yea he is, he can get a little inpatient at times, but he's a good person," Jessica replied.
"So where to now?" Jaune asked.
"Should we go back to your HQ?" Jaune added.
"Sigh, no, they've already made it clear they want me to stand down…I just need something to take my mind off all this madness," Jessica replied.
"I get that feeling, it's hard to know when you or your team needs a break at times, especially when the world is on the line," Jaune said.
"Makes it harder when someone else decides for you," Jessica replied.
"Maybe in a way, but trust me, it's not easy being the leader and making those calls either," Jaune explained.
"How do you do it?" Jessica asked.
"I normally just follow my heart, but not without listening to my friends first," Jaune replied.
Jessica blushed with a small smile as she thought his replied was a kind answer,
The two headed downtown from the hospital, Jaune having a blast while Jessica gave him a tour of all the sights of the big city.
Normally Jessica would be extremely uncomfortable with being around so many people in the downtown area.
She used to find it incredibly hard to go to the grocery store or any place of business, as her anxiety attacks would strike often in those situations.
However, for the last few years she had made enough improvement so that day to day life was easier but she still avoided large masses of people, not wanting to push her comfort level too far.
For some reason being with Jaune distracted her from her own anxiety enough to make her totally forget about it even existing.
"You like coffee?" Jessica asked as she gestured at the coffee shop, asking if Jaune wanted to stop there.
"That sounds great, I wonder if coffee is different in this universe," Jaune replied.
"You'll have to be the judge of that," Jessica said.
Gulp… Jessica felt her chest tighten as she saw the inside of the coffee shop be jammed packed with people.
"It's okay Jess," Jaune said.
Jessica's attention shifted to his eyes, she didn't notice Jaune taking her hand as he saw he start to walk backwards with a look of fear on her face.
"Um…Sorry, I…" Jessica stuttered as she leaned in close while they waited in lane, getting comfort from leaning into Jaune's shoulder.
"You don't need to apologize about everything," Jaune replied.
After a few minutes of waiting they ordered and grabbed a couple coffees and a few slices of lemon cafe, taking the order outside as there was no room to eat inside.
"Jaune, come this way, I got a secret spot I think you will like," Jessica said while tugging on his sleeve, leading him into the alleyway on the side of the coffee shop.
"Here please hold these," Jessica said, handing him the paper bag with the cakes and one of the coffees.
"Um… is this it?" Jaune asked, unimpressed by the alleyway.
"What, of course no haha" Jessica laughed.
Jessica then summoned her Green Lantern uniform and put a force field around Jaune, "Hold on to that coffee," Jessica said as she then flew upward carrying Jaune in the force field.
"Woohwooh!" Jaune exclaimed as they flew up about forty stories.
"Here," Jessica said as she stopped at a platform near the top of the skyscraper.
The platform had no doors or even windows leading to it, the only thing that was on it was a large stone gargoyle that overlooked the corner of the building.
"Interesting spot, um…" Jaune stuttered as he looked over the edge.
"Can't beat the view, plus I don't have to worry about people disturbing me up here," Jessica explained as she sat down on the floor with her legs crossed.
"The height doesn't bother you?" Jaune asked as he sat down next to her.
"Not really… Oh but does it bother you? Shoot I'm sorry, I didn't even ask…" Jessica replied feeling guilty.
"No no it's okay, I used to not like heights, still don't particularly enjoy them, but with all me and my friends have been through and seen. Heights just don't feel like something to be afraid of anymore compared to what we've seen." Jaune explained.
"I wish I was like that…" Jessica replied as reached for one of the lemon cake slices.
"What do you mean?" Jaune asked as he pulled out the other one.
"I mean, I wish my fears would have just gone away as I mature and experience things," Jessica replied.
"They will eventually… you just need to, keep pushing forward, one step at a time, little happy chips at the fear," Jaune explained with enthusiasm.
"Thanks Jaune you're really sweet, but I don't think it's that simple with me," Jessica said.
"What do you mean?" Jaune asked.
" Sigh… I mean, one hour I can be one upping Superman, then by the next I'm crumbling mentally not sure if I can do anything. It doesn't seem like it ever goes away, sometimes it feels like my greatest fight is getting out of bed in the morning." Jessica replied.
"But I've seen you, you're way better than the last time I met you, it's clear that you are making a lot of progress," Jaune said.
"I… I try to keep my mind distracted, keep busy helping others so I don't have time to think and be afraid, It definitely helps… but when I'm not, distracted, it honestly doesn't feel like I've made any progress." Jessica explained
"Well then let's enjoy some cake and stay distracted then!" Jaune said with enthusiasm.
"Kek, sure I guess," Jessica replied.
"What ever works to help you I'd definitely say it's working, you are quite the brave person if I say so myself, so if distraction is what you need then keep it up, you clearly are getting better," Jaune said kindly.
"Thanks," Jessica replied, trying to keep a blush down.
"And I didn't totally understand the conversation, but from what I heard about your discussion with Simon and that…"Fear ring," doesn't sound like something someone who is not brave would consider," Jaune said.
"Again… Thanks…" Jessica thanked him for the compliments with a soft tune.
"This cake is really good!" Jaune exclaimed.
"Yeah it is," Jessica replied.
"Soo, about distractions, you want to go catch a movie or something?" Jessica asked.
"I could go for that, it's been a ,well really long time since I actually had a break," Jaune replied, almost exhausted just thinking about how long he was stuck in the Ever After.
The two sat and chatted for a little while longer as they ate their cake and enjoyed their coffees.
"I totally forgot that it's close to Halloween," Jessica said as they looked at the list of movies showing.
"You don't like scary movies?" Jaune asked.
"I mean, there are some I have liked, but it's not my preferred genre." Jessica replied.
"I enjoy calling out what's going to happen in them, they are always so predictable," Jaune said with giddy excitement.
"Oh, well if you see something you will enjoy I'm fine with that," Jessica said mildly sheepishly.
"How about this one?" Jaune asked.
""No Witnesses" Well it doesn't look like it would be too raunchy based on the rating, so I'm okay with it" Jessica replied as she stepped forward and bought the tickets for them.
We gotta keep them cops off our trail Bobby, there's a reason we do what we do, and it ain't to be cool or hip or whatever you young punks think!
Jessica sat quietly watching the movie with Jaune who seemed to be enjoying it a lot.
"Distractions"… Jessica thought to herself as she looked over at Jaune having a good time. All the stuff that wanted to flood her mind seemed to fade away whenever she thought about him instead.
She felt a strange happy feeling in her chest as she didn't feel any fear of the crowds around her in the theater or have stress from any of the predicaments happening with her work.
She just felt peace around Jaune, even the movie which wasn't really to her liking, it didn't bother her, the low budget film had been nothing but a mafia drama so far.
That's why I've come to tell you Bobby, you've forced my hand, the score gotta stay settled, and the trial gotta stay cold DADADADA!
In the movie a middle aged man pulled out a tommy gun and unceremoniously cut down a group of four young gangsters.
The sight shocked Jessica, she promptly looked over to Jaune's face to see his reaction. While his face was shocked, his reaction was surface level and it didn't seem to affect him emotionally at all.
" Distractions… distractions…" Jessica thought to herself as she closed her eyes and took a few deep breaths.
Opening her eyes she still felt normal, she wasn't freaking out and still felt calm. " Phew… see you got this," she thought to herself as she resumed watching the movie.
All of a sudden the room went still as the movie went quiet after the burst of murder.
As soon as the silence hit her, Jessica started not feeling right, first each breath became harder to breathe, then her head started feeling dizzy and stomach queasy.
"Shit…" Jaune heard Jessica snap out quietly as she abruptly got up and started walking towards the exit.
"Jess?" Jaune said as he got up and promptly followed her.
Jessica hot footed it outside of the screening room, making her way to a bench just outside the room.
Her breath stuttered as she tried with all her might to take deep breaths, curling her knees up to her head, she clung onto her ring like it was the one thing that was keeping her sane.
Her thoughts started going gray as her chest tightened like a vice grip, her worst memories coming back all at once.
"Jessica!" Jaune said jogging over to see if she was okay.
"I…it's, okay…" Jessica said quietly as she gripped her ring for dear life. She said it like there wasn't any issue, like she had dealt with this before.
"Jess, don't worry we don't have to go back into the screening room if you don't like it," Jaune said, confused about what was going on with her.
"I… I nee… I need to get out of here…" Jessica stammered as she started looking around like a rabbit that wants to bolt.
"Jess no," Jaune said as quickly grabbed her, hugging her to stop her from taking off. "I need to go… I…" Jessica continued to say.
Jaune felt her heart racing incredibly fast as he pulled her in close. "Shhh shhh shhh, it's okay Jess, you're okay," Jaune said while brushing her hair trying to calm her down.
Jessica slowly began to slow her heartbeat as she kept trying to take deep breaths as she melted into Jaune's hug.
"I… I… I'm ok… I'm okay" Jessica said, her breath slowing down finally to a point where she could breath normally.
"You sure?" Jaune asked
"Um… yes I'm okay" Jessica replied, her voice muffled from her head being buried in his chest.
"We can stay here as long as you need," Jaune said, continuing to hug her.
Jessica then slowly lifted her arms and pushed away from Jaune gently to break the hug. Her face still looked pale, "Phew I'm okay," She said, catching her breath she looked wobbly like she might throw up.
"Here take a seat," Jaune said as he sat down on the bench and gestured for her to join him, which she promptly agreed.
"I'm sorry, as you can see like I said, I'm still a mess," Jessica said.
"Nonsense, Listen, I might not know exactly what you are going through, but I have definitely had my share of scars in my mind. Some, I don't think I can ever heal from, so I understand." Jaune replied soberly.
"Now what happened?" Jaune asked.
"It's probably best for me not to talk about it, I don't want another panic attack, not here, not now," Jessica explained.
"I think talking about it would probably help, people panic about their fears, I would think putting our fears outside by talking about them might ease it," Jaune said.
"I don't get that logic, but I suppose I can try," Jessica replied.
"That's always a start," Jaune said, smiling to encourage her.
"I think that movie reminded me of a very traumatic, incident that happened to me a long time ago. At first I thought it didn't, that I was okay with the film, but it must have subconsciously triggered something in me." Jessica explained.
"What happened?" Jaune asked. Immediately Jessica turned and looked at him, defensive about why he would want to pry into her past, but as her eyes met his and saw the compassion in them she couldn't help but calm herself and answer him.
"Um… this is really difficult for me to talk about, but, I'm going to try…" Jessica paused as she took a few more seconds to collect her thoughts.
"About six years ago I was on a hunting trip with some friends I had and… uhg I'm sorry I don't think I can talk about this…" Jessica said, her eyes starting to well up just begin to talk about it.
"Aww Jess come here," Jaune said, pulling her close again.
"We ran into two people who were burying a body…" Jessica said as Jaune pulled her in tighter, knowing that she probably lost someone.
"They captured me and *cough* my friends and held us all at gunpoint," Jessica continued, explaining as she choked up from restrained tears.
"They were gonna kill us all so, I… I saw an opening and I took it, I ran, I just ran… I heard them killing my friends as I ran, but I just kept running…" Jessica explained, as tears started flowing from her eyes as she buried them deep into Jaune's shoulder.
"Ooh Jessica, I…" Jaune stuttered not knowing how to comfort her.
"Have you told anyone about this?" Jaune asked.
Sniff " Some of the team at my work know, it's on my file," Jessica replied.
"That's not the same as talking about it," Jaune said in a more serious tune.
"Then no, no I don't talk to anyone about this,"
"Well… I'm glad you told me, you can't keep this stuff locked inside… trust me, I know," Jaune said.
"That wasn't even the worst thing that happened to me…" Jessica said, lifting her head to look in Jaune's eyes.
"Well I don't know, maybe it was the worst, what happened after that wasn't in my control really… but that doesn't make it feel any better, " Jessica explained, turning away from Jaune in shame.
"Please Jessica, you can talk to me about it." Jaune said softly.
"For the next three years after that incident I stayed in my apartment and basically never left, I was terrified of the outside world, terrified I would be found, and they would finish me off like my friends," Jessica explained.
Jaune then put his hands on her shoulder and encouraged her to sit down next to him while talking, not wanting her to get light headed again.
"Anyway while I was hiding in my room, the Justice League was fighting an invasion from a mirror universe where there was an evil version of each of them," Jessica explained.
"What, that's really weird, but kinda cool I guess," Jaune replied with a little levity.
Jessica shot him a menacing glance in response to his light hearted comment.
"Sorry, sorry, go on please," Jaune said.
"Anyway from this evil Justice League, there was Hal Jordan, only this Hal had an evil ring that fed on fear like an oni demon or something. So when the good Justice League defeated them, evil Hal Jordan was killed, but his ring was not," Jessica explained.
"Interesting, but how did you get involved with all this?" Jaune asked.
"When a Lantern dies, their ring seeks out a new barer, but because this evil ring fed on fear, not will power it came to me. And it did not ask for my permission to become its new barer. It forced itself on me and took over my mind." Jessica elaborated, her tone sounding more angry now then sad.
"I… I hurt people, I felt like someone was taking my body for a spin while I was locked in the trunk of the car," Jessica said.
"Then it wasn't you that hurt people, you are good, you would never do that," Jaune said trying to comfort her.
"I didn't feel good when that ring was in control of me,"
"How did you get back in control," Jaune asked.
"The Justice league found me, Cyborg was able to short the ring's connection, allowing me to regain consciousness for a moment. Batman helped me a lot, told me that I didn't need to be afraid anymore.
It was all during a battle, some other people were trying to kill the Justice League, and so, I decided I wasn't going to die afraid. As the ring started to regain control over me I pushed my will back in control just long enough to push myself in front of an attack that was gonna kill the Flash.
That act that I did, broke the evil ring, and would have killed me too, but the Green Lantern corp said it proved I was worthy to have a ring of my own, and so a new ring came down and saved me. And that's what I have today." Jessica explained.
"I've been a Green Lantern now for four years. It's definitely easier than when I first started… but, just like this movie… when my mind cracks with fear I become an absurd emotional wreck." Jessica added.
"Jessica, it's okay to have internal battles like this. I think it's totally understandable that you do have these battles with what you've gone through. But… you don't have to fight these battles alone, that's what friends are for," Jaune said with empathy as he brushed a tear off her face.
"Um… Thank you," Jessica replied, her voice sounding kinda melancholy as she was mesmerized by his eyes.
"Jessica, anything you need, you can always call me, even if I'm back on Remnant, if you ever need to talk or anything, you can call me anytime," Jaune explained.
Jessica's eyes locked on Jaune's eyes, the two froze as Jaune waited for a reply to his offer while Jessica wrestled with what she wanted.
"Jess…?" Jaune asked quietly, wondering if she was okay.
Before Jaune could finish saying her name she pushed up onto her toes and locked her lips around Jaune's as she desperately held onto a kiss.
Jaune's face was a look of shock at first, but finally after a few seconds he closed his eyes and reciprocated the kiss as she pulled him closer by grabbing his shirt collar.
Finally after a few more seconds, Jessica felt Jaune gently pushing her away, encouraging her to break the kiss but not breaking it himself.
After noticing him pushing on her chest, she promptly broke the kiss and stumbled back, taking a deep breath as she wasn't breathing much during the kiss.
"I'm so sorry, that was uncalled for. I shouldn't have been so forward!" Jessica said, her tone one of embarrassment.
"No no it's okay," Jaune replied, scratching the back of his neck nervously.
"I'm sorry, I just really like you," Jessica said with a good amount of passion.
"I know Jess, and I like you a lot myself…" Jaune replied sincerely as he took her hands with his and looked her in the eyes.
"You do?" Jessica replied, her eyes growing wide with hope.
"I do…" Jaune replied.
"But?" Jessica asked, sensing the change in his tone.
"I just, don't think I'm ready for this yet." Jaune replied sincerely.
"I understand," Jessica said timidly.
"A lot has happened to me since we last met, more than I can say… and, well if there was anyone that I would want to open myself up to love again, it would be you Jessica." Jaune explained.
Jessica turned her eyes away from him as his kindness made her both blush and want to cry at the same time.
"But my heart still feels brushed and bruised and with us literally fighting to save Remnant, my heart just can't take anymore beating right now." Jaune explained sadly.
"I understand," Jessica softly replied.
Sigh" We should go back to the hall of Justice, see if they've made any progress." Jessica said after a deep breath to clear her thoughts.
"Okay, I'll follow you," Jaune replied.
"AHHHH!" The two's attention was snagged as they heard a panicking scream coming from the entrance of the movie theater.
Running to investigate they were shocked at the sight they saw.
"That's really not good," Jessica said as her heart sank, seeing dozens of people running around outside, their eyes looking like the red eyes of Grimm as they fumbled about in rage like undead zombies.
