9:30 p.m. Ark Valley, Kansas. January 31st, 2006…
A man and wife were driving on the road. The drive was silent, the man looked over to his wife.
She had tears streaming down her eyes.
"Honey…we knew this could possibly happen, but we can still look into adopting."
"I don't CARE about adopting Jerome…I just wanted a child of my own."
Jerome was silent, they were returning home from a doctor's appointment.
They had been trying for months to have a child, but they unfortunately couldn't ever have one.
He hoped for her sake that maybe a miracle could happen, but life worked in funny ways…
Corinna said, "I delivered 3 babies in the past month alone, seeing them so happy, holding a child, being a family…something I can't have."
Corinna had been deemed infertile and therefore was capable of having kids, she barely mentioned it, but it tore her up inside.
Jerome simply put his arm around her shoulder and comforted her, there wasn't much he could say, sometimes silence was the answer.
They continued their silent drive until they saw a bright light.
Jerome shrugged it off, 'Probably just a meteor shower….'
He didn't think much until he realized it was getting closer.
With a swift motion he swerved out of the way as he saw what looked like a flaming ball coming straight towards them.
The meteor landed, almost knocking the car over in the process, Corinna swiped the hair from her eyes, "The fuck was that…"
Jerome panting said, "I don't know,"
He then got out of the car, grabbing his shotgun just in case, he didn't know what this was and didn't want his wife in danger.
He slowly made his way to the glowing object, each step felt heavy.
Corinna got out of the car and followed him slowly, she was scared beyond belief.
As they got closer, Jerome held up his shotgun while Corinna was behind him and they slowly walked towards the object.
As they got closer, they saw what looked like a spaceship, once they got within 5 feet it opened, letting out steam.
Jerome on instinct immediately aimed his gun at the ship, he was about to shoot the ship until…they heard crying.
They were confused, until they got closer and saw a crying baby.
Jerome mumbled, "What in the hell…"
Corinna went towards the baby, picking it up and cradling it, soon it stopped crying and it went to sleep.
Jerome was in utter confusion, he didn't know what to think, this child was something not of this world, only time would tell what this would bring.
16 Years Later…
"Jamari….JAMARI….JAMARI ANTHONY!!"
'Jesus, there it is.'
The morning had barely started and Jamari was already regretting waking up.
As he was getting up the door was suddenly kicked in.
His mom was standing in the doorway, "Oh you're up, that's good,"
Mari stammered, "Mom w-why? I was already up."
"Well if you're up then respond next time."
As she walked out of the room, Mari slumped back into his bed, he hated school with a passion.
But, he didn't have a choice so after taking a quick shower, brushing his teeth, he got dressed.
Downstairs….
Corinna had been making breakfast while watching the news, as the news broadcast continued.
"Here we are on the grounds of Aeon Industries, the world's leading energy producer, and here we are with its creator Quinn Floyd…"
Quinn Floyd had walked on screen, he had blonde hair, was about 5 '10, and was wearing shades and had a smug grin.
He said, "Hello ladies and gentlemen, as you know I'm Quinn Floyd and here at Aeon Industries we seek to make the world a better place and usher in a new era, and clean out the old."
As the news continued Jamari had walked down the stairs, he was wearing Black Jeans, a White and Black hoodie, and Black and White Adidas.
As he went to grab his plate he saw his mom was staring at the tv screen.
He looked at the screen and saw how Quinn Floyd was bulldozing an old apartment building, and was making space for his new building.
Corinna said, "This is an absolute disgrace, and a waste of resources."
Mari was indifferent, he said, "I don't see what the problem is, it's an abandoned building."
Corinna retorted, "It wasn't always abandoned, it was only abandoned after he bought it and made everyone move out."
Mari nodded, "I mean that sucks but these new technology improvements could be useful."
Corinna immediately grabbed him saying, "Jamari, yes these could be important but never and I mean NEVER put greed over human life, I know you'll be great one day, you have amazing talent, but THAT is not the way to use it, in this world there are those who have power who don't care for the people on the ground."
Mari nods, "I understand," Corinna said, "Promise me, you'll never forget that."
Mari looks her in the eyes and says, "I promise, though I don't know what I wanna do," Corinna kisses his cheek, "You'll figure it out, I know you will."
As they finished talking Corinna's phone went off, she said, "your breakfast is on the table, I gotta take this."
Mari grabbed his food and started eating, as he was about to finish, he got a text, it said, "BROOOO, I'm at school, today might be the day."
A smirk appeared, if that was what he thought it was, he had to be there.
He grabbed his belongings and gave his mom a kiss on the cheek and left out.
As he continued to walk he saw a car in his driveway, as he stopped by the car, an aura of sadness came in.
All he could hear was the flatlining of a beating heart.
As he continued to stare, he suddenly felt this weird feeling, like something was calling to him.
He looked around until he was staring at the old barn.
Funny thing is he's never been inside of the barn, his mother forbade him from ever entering, the feeling continued.
But, he just ignored it and started walking to school.
As he walked he put his headphones in and started walking, on average it took him 20 minutes to get to school if he walked.
Now if he ran it would probably be 10, he wasn't exactly athletic, but he was still pretty fast, so he did a light jog.
As he was jogging a car pulled up beside him, the person rolled down the window and said, "Mari my boy, how are you?"
It was the Sheriff of Ark Valley, Sheriff Monroe. Mari gave a small wave.
"I'm fine, I'm just on my way to school."
"Oh, would you like a ride?"
"No, I'm good,"
"You sure?"
"Positive."
10 minutes later, Mari was in the car as Sheriff Monroe was recounting details from his past.
Deever and his mom had gone to the same college when they were young.
Mari said, "You know you didn't have to do this, I would've been fine walking."
"But then you would've been late to school and you can't have that."
"With all due respect, I don't really care about being on time these days."
"Why not? This is your Junior year, one of the most important years of your life.
"Yea I know, but I still don't really care, I'm gonna pass, I'm gonna graduate and move on with my life and I guess start looking into colleges."
"That's great and all, but you gotta have some passion, anyone can do what you just said."
Mari just nodded and just patiently waited for them to arrive at the school.
He honestly didn't care much but he kind of dreaded school, the school itself wasn't bad it was better than most around the area.
Now the people who went to the school, that was a different story, and one he'd rather not talk about.
They finally reached the school, Mari thanked Monroe and stepped out of the car with his belongings.
But before he could leave, Monroe grabbed his shoulder saying, "If you ever need anyone to talk to I'm right here."
Mari nods, "Thanks, but I think I'll be good." Monroe nods "Just a suggestion."
He then pulled off.
Jamari didn't really like him that much, he was always around and kept asking him multiple questions and it annoyed the hell out of him.
Though ever since his dad died he started helping out, to which he couldn't help but be thankful.
But, now was the most stressful part, he was at school, he took a deep breath and walked inside the building.
Inside The Classroom...
"And that is what we call a Genus, Lizards and Salamanders, both members of the same reptile family, both with tails, both cold blooded….."
The teacher Ms. Holland was currently teaching the class of different types of reptiles, barely anyone was paying attention, but she still kept going.
Jamari himself wasn't even paying attention, he had his headphones in and was drawing at the same time.
Any words the teacher was saying he certainly wasn't paying any attention to.
That was until he heard, "Mr. Watkins?"
"Huh?"
At that moment almost every student in the class was staring directly at him, he was utterly confused on what was happening.
Until Ms. Holland said "Mr. Watkins, could you please tell us the difference between Lizards and Salamanders."
'Well I know a little, let's see what they think', Jamari says" Uhh well, Lizards can be found anywhere while Salamanders need a steady environment."
Ms Holland nodded and said "Good Mr. Watkins, anybody else?"
Nobody raised their hand, so Mari just thought 'Might as well go all the way, since I'm already in the mood.'
Mari continued, "And Salamanders are more aggressive, more dangerous…. So to speak, one species, they're pretty poisonous actually."
As he was talking a kid named Issac who was known for causing trouble started giggling in the middle of Mari's monologue.
Also, the girl who sat in front of Mari named Chelsea turned around to look at him as he spoke.
"Lizards don't really care for their young, once they're born the mothers leave them to live on their own; they eat things like maggots."
The teacher clapped and said "Good job", Mari felt a little proud, and thought maybe this wasn't so bad, until he heard, "hmph...fucking nerd..."
Mari mentally sighed as he knew who it was and turned to see Issac laughing up a storm, 'Of course, always him.'
Mari put his headphones back in, his enthusiasm crushed within seconds, he and Isaac never got along, it was mostly a one sided rivalry.
He never paid him any mind, Isaac and his crew bullied him for years, it got old real fast.
He then heard a "psst, pssst," he looked up to Chelsea and was confused at first.
She said " Don't worry, smart guys end up ruling the planet."
Mari smiled and said "Thanks, your name is Chelsea right? Y'know you and I have never really talked like…..ever."
Chelsea chuckled and said "Well it's nice to finally meet you."
She held her hand out in the form of a handshake, Mari shook her hand saying "Nice to meet you as well."
Chelsea asks" So you actually pay attention to this."
Mari shakes his head "No, I don't think anyone does, I just study a lot."
She nods, "well that's good, I mean you're ahead of the curb when it comes to this stuff."
"Nah I mean this isn't rocket science it's actually pretty easy to learn."
"Well it was nice talking to you." Mari nods and says "same." He then proceeds to get back to drawing.
Lunchtime….
Once the bell had rang, Mari basically jumped out of his seat, it was time for lunch, now he wasn't hungry but it was time to see if "He" pulled through.
Mari ran to the bathroom, pulled out his phone and texted, "Bro, it's lunchtime wya?"
10 seconds later, he got a text back, "I'm omw to the Lunchroom, hbu?"
"Currently hiding in the bathroom, I'm bout to head out."
Jamari swiftly made his way to the cafeteria, he went to get his food in which he questioned if it was actually "food".
He then walked to his table and proceeded to pull out his notebook and start drawing until he heard, "MARI."
Once he heard that he turned around with a smirk on his face. It was his best friend Noah.
He honestly didn't remember how the 2 of them even became friends, they just met one day, Noah spoke to him and he spoke back and it's been history from there.
Noah instantly dapped him up and said, "Bro, I haven't seen you all day."
"Well yea that's bound to happen, we have 2 completely different schedules."
"Yea cuz you're a fuckn genius."
"Ehh not really, I'm a little slow to be honest."
"Nigga, you're a genius," "Again, I'm not a genius," "Bro, YOU ARE."
"Look, we can argue about this later, now how did 'You know what' go?"
Noah instantly grew a smile on his face and Mari already knew the answer, "I GOT THE NUMBER."
Mari felt like a proud brother, this was a 2 year endeavor but it paid off.
Mari instantly pulled Noah in for a hug and said, "Fuckn finally."
Noah said, "Yea, it took about 5 minutes but it fuckn worked, but you don't know how good this feels man."
Jamari couldn't help but smile, his friend was finding his happiness.
Now Mari was gonna eat the food until he looked at it and thought, 'Ehh no, i'll just wait till i get home.'
As he went to throw his plate in the trash he accidentally bumped into someone.
He instantly apologized saying, " Oh sorry my bad," but the voice said the same, "Oh sorry my bad."
As they locked eyes, they both froze, Mari had bumped into Chelsea.
Jamari had started to stutter, "O-oh hey hi, w-what's going on?"
Chelsea gave an awkward laugh, "Uhhh nothing much just having what i assume is steak but i don't think it's supposed to be green."
Mari chuckled, "No, i-it's definitely not supposed to be green."
An awkward silence came over them as they just stared at each other, before Mari could say anything else, one of Chelsea's friends had called her name.
Chelsea turned and said, "Well, i gotta go", Mari nodded, "Y-yea me too."
Chelsea gave a smile, to which Jamari did the same, as she walked away, Mari felt his heart calm down, he started feeling a sense of relief but, another feeling.
Before he could think he heard laughing behind him.
He mentally sighed and turned his head to see Noah trying to hold in a laugh, Mari said "I swear to god..."
Noah couldn't hold it in, he just bursted out laughing, Mari had an irritated look on his face.
Noah put his hand on Mari's shoulder and said, "Bro, I can teach you how to talk to a girl."
Mari smacked his hand and said, "I don't need you to teach Anything."
Noah still couldn't stop laughing, he said "Oh my god that was priceless, look if you wanna impress her, how about speaking full sentences."
Jamari was starting to get heated, Noah continued his lecture on how to get girls, Mari was getting more annoyed by the second.
Noah said, "Look getting girls is a pretty easy thing, well if you're me."
Mari gave him an annoyed look and said, "Didn't it take you 2 years to confess."
Noah said, "Ard first fuck you, second that ain't fair."
Jamari retorts, "Oh yea, it really is, I had to sit through 2 years of you constantly talking about her and going on and on about how cute she is and shit like that."
Noah said, "Ok, it wasn't that bad," Mari just sighed.
The bell rang, Noah said, "Welp it's time to go, later man."
Mari said, "Yeah whatever, I might leave or what not."
Noah said, "Heh, all right then, hey i think i have class with Chelsea," Mari stopped dead in his tracks.
Noah continued, "I might just tell her a few things."
Jamari said, "I swear to god, if you say anything or do anything embarrassing…"
Noah put his hands up in defense, "Relax, I won't say anything."
Noah had his classic smirk, which meant he may or may not be trustworthy.
Noah said, "So that means you like her?"
Mari said, "Look, I don't know man, I think she's cute and what not, but I just met her today, and almost embarrassed myself."
Noah said, "Just give it some time man, she'll come around."
Mari retorted "Ehh, i'm not gonna give myself hope, we'll see what happens."
Mari grabbed his bag and his notebook and headed off to his last class.
This day was already shaping up to be a pain in the ass, luckily it was almost time for it to end.
After School….
School had finally ended, it was a long and tiring day and Mari couldn't wait to go home, as soon as he got out the door he got a text.
It was from his mom, "When you get outta school, go straight home and feed the cows."
Mari groaned but he understood, he knew from the text his mom wouldn't be home for a while, her job gave her long hours and she was almost always tired.
He put on his headphones and then started on his long walk home, as he walked he looked at the scenery, he saw billboards of Aeon Industries, they'd be moving into town.
They were big on global distribution, the main building was located in Highway City.
He saw the fields of wheat and soaked in their beauty, he had never lived in the city and honestly he kind of appreciated that, he learned how to appreciate nature more.
He had finally reached home, he opened the door and walked into an empty house.
He walked into the kitchen and saw a note on the door, it read, "Sorry sweetie, had to work late, dinner is in the fridge."
He sighed, ever since his dad passed, she had gotten a new job to make ends meet.
He got his food out of the fridge, he ate his food, he then got in the shower, cleaned up around the house, and even took out the trash.
He then went to his basement to grab the cow food, the cows needed to be fed, he grabbed 3 bags and went outside.
He reached the cow pen and the cows immediately started making noise when they saw the food.
Mari said, "Calm down, I'm right here, don't worry I'm gonna feed you."
As he finished pouring the food, he was getting ready to take the bags inside the house, until the strange sensation came back.
Mari stopped dead in his tracks, that feeling of something calling to him had come back.
He didn't know what it was, he looked around until he was staring at the old barn, he had it in his mind, he wasn't gonna go.
But, the pull was becoming stronger, it was like someone was pulling him towards it.
Jamari just started walking, he just let the pull do its work, but as he got closer he thought, 'Wait no, i'm not supposed to be doing this.'
As he reached the door, he saw it had a lock.
'Ok, yep that's the end of this story.'
All of a sudden his hands started punching the lock, Mari was confused, his hands were moving on their own until the lock broke.
Mari thought one thing, '...shit.'
The door swung open, Jamari was nervous now, he had never been in here, but he would take the opportunity to look around.
He pulled out his phone and turned on his flashlight and looked around.
He was about to leave until he looked down and saw something red glowing through the floor, he thought, 'Ok, what in the absolute fuck is going on here?'
Mari continued until he saw a hatch on the ground, it was locked.
Mari thought, 'Of course.' He then looked around until he saw a rock and started hitting the lock repeatedly until it broke, there was no going back now.
He walked down the dust covered stairs, he was thinking, 'Ok so either something broke in here or my mom is a supervillain with a secret lair, please be a secret lair.'
He continued until he found a metal door. "Just what the hell is down here?"
He tried to move the handle but it was rusty, he tried harder until it snapped.
The handle flew off the door, while the door opened, Jamari slowly entered the room and his jaw dropped to the floor.
He said out loud, "I-is that a fuckn spaceship", he did a double take to make sure he wasn't hallucinating or dreaming because….. a spaceship……how??
He got closer to it, now by the looks of it, the ship had been here a while, dust covered the whole thing.
But, the strangest feeling came, he felt as if he was connected to this thing.
He decided to touch the ship, and once his finger made contact, he immediately felt like the connection had gotten stronger.
'So this is what was calling me, but what the hell is this thing? And why's it down here?'
He didn't know what to do but he decided to touch it again, but as if the ship was alive, it went online, Mari jumped back but the ship didn't attack him.
The ship shifted its front plate into what resembled a hand print.
Against his better judgment he put his hand on the hand reader.
Within seconds a pulse of electricity was being shot through his veins.
He saw flashes of a dying world, 2 people and something called...The Churzu.
He then fell onto the floor as he was violently convulsing, the electricity was swirling throughout his body, he then passed out.
The last he saw was the ship's eerie Red Glow…
7 Hours Later….
Jamari had woken up in a cold sweat, he looked around and saw he was still in the basement, he then turned his head to see the ship had returned to its normal state.
He just stared at it, he remembered its eerie red glow, and whatever the hell it did to him, he felt fuzzy but he felt…great, like nothing ever happened at all.
He looked at his phone, it was 3 am, he saw Noah had texted him, "Bro, I need to talk to you."
Mari cursed himself and texted him back, "My bad bro, i wasn't feeling good at all last night, we'll talk at school."
Jamari, after giving the ship one last glance, hurriedly ran outside the barn.
He went outside and realized, 'Oh shit I broke the lock.'
He was panicking until he ran inside of his house and found a spare lock and put it on the door and got away from the door as quickly as he could.
He didn't want any part of it.
He looked at the clock, it was 3:15 in the morning, he had some time to sleep, so he just laid down and tried to get some sleep since he knew just how tired he could be at school.
4 Hours later….
Mari had been laying in bed for 4 hours and he couldn't fall asleep, he had resorted to watching Youtube videos to kill time.
As he got up to get dressed, he found he wasn't tired at all.
He thought to himself, 'Hmm, that's weird.'
He brushed his teeth and put on his hoodie and walked downstairs, he made himself a bowl of cereal and once he finished, he found he was still pretty hungry.
So he ate another bowl, and another, and one more. After the 4th bowl he stopped eating and thought, 'Ok, what the hell is wrong with me.'
Once he finished he put his bowl in the sink and got ready to head to school.
Before he could step out, his mom came in the door, Mari said, "Hey mom, i'm just leaving for school."
Corinna replied, "Hey sweetie, before you go the lawn needs to be cut."
Mari said, "The lawn mower's broken," "No it's not, I used it the other day, now hurry up."
Jamari sighed, he went outside and tried to turn on the mower, he pulled the motor once, and again and he continuously kept going.
As he was pulling the switch over and over he thought, 'And she didn't believe me.'
But, as he was pulling, he suddenly tossed the lawnmower 50 feet into the air.
It took him a minute to process what just happened, 'The lawnmower….just flew…50 feet.'
As he stood there, he saw that the lawnmower had finally turned on, but it was upside down. He walked over to it as hundreds of thoughts were running through his mind.
As he stood over the lawnmower an intrusive thought came into his mind.
The saw blade was spinning, his eyes became entranced with its movement, He then without thinking it through, shoved his hand into the moving blade.
He winced as he expected his hand to be torn to shreds.
But, to his surprise his hand was completely fine, but the saw blade was now broken beyond repair. He just looked at his hands thinking, 'What the hell is happening?'
He would have to think about this later, he saw the time and ran to school.
In The Classroom…
During the civil war, as you know 2 sides were battling for what the 2 of them believed was right, of course these 2 sides were the United States and the Confederacy…"
The history teacher Mr. Angelo was doing his daily lecture.
Once again like in every class, nobody was really paying attention, then you have Mari in the back having a mental breakdown.
'I threw a lawnmower and I shoved my hand in the blade and I'm unscathed.'
Millions of thoughts were running through his brain, just what the hell is going on?
He feels funny like his body feels different. He couldn't figure it out but he's panicking.
As he's panicking, he feels someone tap his shoulder, he looks and sees Chelsea looking at him concerned.
"Jamari, are you okay?"
Mari snaps out of his trance and says, "Y-yea I'm fine, It's just really hot in here."
Chelsea says, "Umm really? cuz it's freezing here."
Mari turns his head and sees Mr. Angelo's infamous air conditioner that makes the class feel like it's 20 degrees.
Mari wiping his sweating forehead, just gives an awkward laugh and says, "Well it's just hot to me."
Chelsea then looks at the board and says, "So, you know what he's talking about up there?"
Jamari says, "The same thing we've learned since elementary school, that the Civil War happened because 2 sides of the same people had different views on things."
Chelsea finishes, "So that leads to a war."
Mari nods and laughs, "See, was that so hard?"
Chelsea, while laughing, punches his arm and says, "No, but I'm still impossibly slow when it comes to things like this."
Mari says, "You're a lot smarter than you give yourself credit for," Chelsea says, "You really think so?"
Mari says, "I know so."
As they are staring at each other, the bell rings and to others it was the normal annoying bell.
But, to Mari it felt like someone was playing music on 1000 directly into his ear, he fell to the ground clutching his ears in pain.
Everyone in the class backed up and started laughing, thinking Jamari was having a breakdown or something.
The bell eventually stopped ringing and the pain subsided.
Mari feels immense relief, 'W-what the fuck was that.'
When he was able to stand again, Chelsea ran up to him and asked, "Oh my god, are you ok?"
Jamari with his ear still ringing, just nodded his head, he then wobbled out of the classroom.
As he was walking throughout the hall, his eyesight was changing, he started being able to see through things.
People were walking by and he could see their insides.
He held his hands over his eyes but that didn't help, he ran to the bathroom but the door was locked.
As he pulled the door, it suddenly came off the handle, he didn't know what to do so he just set it on the ground.
He went into the bathroom and looked in the mirror, he was sweating bullets and didn't know what was happening, all he could think about was the ship.
He thought, 'The ship, that has to be the reason, it's changed me, I have fucking superpowers, honestly this is kinda cool, but it hurts like hell.'
He then took out his phone and started texting Noah.
With Noah...
Noah was currently sitting in math class staring at the paper, 'Bro I don't know what I'm looking at, I'm bout to cry.'
That was until he heard, "Noah are you alright? You've been staring at the same problem for 15 minutes now."
Noah turned and smiled, it was Sarah the love of his life, or that's what he thought in his head.
"Nah, you know I don't know math like that, in fact I hate it with a passion, like who thought some of this stuff was ok."
Sarah chuckled, "Relax, it's not that hard, you want me to help you?"
His face lit up, and he accepted wholeheartedly, and was about to speak until his phone went off.
He looked and saw the message from Mari, he was confused but texted back, "Ight bro, just wait till lunch."
He then got back to work with Sarah.
With Chelsea…
She sat in her engineering block but couldn't get her mind off Mari, he was fine one second but seemingly had a mental breakdown.
She was stuck in her deep thoughts until she was hit in the head with a piece of foam.
She turned her head to see her best friend Stacey, who was holding wires and looking irritated.
Chelsea was confused, until Stacey said, "We're Supposed to be doing a project you know, Mr. Lennix's scheduled presentation is in under a month and we still don't have anything."
Chelsea said, "Oh shit, I'm sorry I'm just thinking about something."
"What, thinking about your boyfriend?" She said with a smirk.
Chelsea said, "THAT'S NOT MY BOYFRIEND, me and him barely know each other."
Stacey continued, "I saw the way you 2 were at lunch yesterday, he's an awkward nerd, just like you, HE'S PERFECT."
Chelsea said, "We just met yesterday and we don't know each other that well, so don't jump to any conclusions, w-we'll just see what happens."
Stacey squeals, "AWWWW, you're adorable, I've been trying to get you to date guys for as long as I've met you but, you were always being difficult."
Chelsea retorts, "Because every guy was an asshole, and I didn't want to be around them."
Stacey chuckles, she wasn't wrong, there were a LOT of assholes in this school, but it seemed like her friend was finally finding her happy place.
With Mari….
He was going through it, he constantly had his hands over his ears since the smallest noise was painful to him.
He had to concentrate his eyes, as with the x-ray thing, he saw…things, things he'd rather not talk about.
As he was walking, he realized he was thirsty and saw the water fountain.
He tried to drink water but as soon as he grabbed it, the whole thing came off the wall.
He then put the now broken water fountain on the ground and ran away, he had come to terms with the fact that he had super powers.
Now these powers were cool, but they were annoying the hell out of him.
Soon the bell rang again, Mari had to resist the urge to fall to the ground in pain, but the bell finally stopped, and everyone was leaving, it was lunchtime.
With Noah…..
When the bell had finally rung, he literally jumped out of his seat which surprised Sarah, and scared everyone else.
He said awkwardly, "It's lunch time."
He then grabbed Sarah's hand and asked, "You uhhh, wanna sit by me at lunch", she stared for a moment, like her brain was processing what he said.
She eventually said, "Y-yea, I'd like that."
He jumped for joy and basically dragged her out of the room, as he got to the cafeteria he and Sarah were sitting and talking.
Until, out of the corner of his eye he saw Mari walking in but he looked spooked, he was shaking and there was a door handle attached to his hand...huh?
Jamari had sat by them, he said "Hey man, oh hi Sarah."
She waved back but was a little confused, Noah then walked to Mari and said, "Bro, what's going on?"
Mari grabbed him and said, "I don't know man."
As they were talking, all of a sudden they heard, "Jamari, I'm glad you're ok?"
They turned to see Chelsea and her friend Stacey, "Oh yea, I'm totally fine, just wasn't feeling good earlier, but I'm great now."
Chelsea gave a confused look, while Stacey gave a Suspicious look, and Mari just gave his trademark awkward smile.
While Noah and Sarah were still utterly confused.
That's when Noah said, "Hey, Mari I need to talk to you for a second."
Mari nodded and they both left the cafeteria and went to the back of the school.
No students were allowed back there, but no one really cared anyway.
As they got outside, Noah then asked, "So what's going on, cuz you've been acting weird all day man."
That's when Mari said, "Dude, I don't fucking know anymore."
As he starts waving his arms, he accidentally hits one of the cars, now normally that would hurt someone's hand, but instead it was sent flying about 7 feet.
Mari said, "Dammit, that's the 5th time today," while Noah just stared.
Noah stuttered out, "M-Mari, how t-the fuck did you do that?"
Jamari says, "I think...I have superpowers..."
Noah was just staring at the now broken car and back at Mari who was standing there looking scared, he didn't know what Noah was gonna say.
All of a sudden Noah grabbed him and hugged him, which caught Mari off guard.
He said, "DUDE, YOURE A FUCKN SUPERHERO."
Mari breathed a sigh of relief but said, "Yes, I have powers, but I don't know about being a Superhero."
Noah continued, "Can we at least test your powers? I know they don't stop there," Mari nodded, "Sure, I need to figure this shit out too."
They both agreed and then started to head back into the building.
With Chelsea….
She had been worried about Mari all day but he seemed to be fine, although he could've been lying.
He seemed like he was feeling better, but it's like he was hiding something, she didn't know and didn't have a clue either.
But, she then realized, they had the same class and she would just ask him there, though she hadn't seen him in the halls, she hoped he'd be there.
With Mari….
He had finally started to get used to the constant ringing of the bell, now it still hurt like hell, but it was bearable.
As he was walking to class, he thought, 'I'll talk to Chelsea later, she's probably weirded out now and doesn't want to talk to me.'
As he walked into his last class, he saw Chelsea sitting there, '…shit.' To make things worse they made eye contact.
Once she looked at him, she then patted the seat next to her, basically telling him to sit next to her, since that was the only seat left, he took the seat.
As the teacher was talking about anything, Neither Mari nor Chelsea were paying attention.
Mari was once again drawing in his notebook while Chelsea was doing the same, that's when she asked, "You draw?" Mari nodded his head.
He showed her his drawings, which were of characters from different anime, from Dragon ball Z, to Naruto and a few others.
She then said, "Oh you're one of those." Mari felt his heart drop, "Oh do you not like anime?"
"Oh I do, it's just I've seen one, and I didn't think anyone would like anime."
Mari felt his heart calm down, "What anime was it?" "Jojo's Bizarre Adventure."
As soon as the words hit his ears, he immediately put his head on the table, he thought in his head, 'Of course.'
Chelsea said, "Is that bad?"
"Nah the show's actually good, but that goddamn fanbase makes me hate it altogether."
She let out a small chuckle, Mari then let out a smile
After School….
Mari had run out of the building, since school had ended he had time to find out exactly what he could do.
As he started to jog, he was suddenly propelled forward. He looked back and saw he was half a mile away from the school.
He did it again and he went another half mile in 2 seconds, he then got an idea, he then got into a crouching position, and with that he took off.
He was like a blur, he was just running around, he felt the cool breeze against his face, and he had to admit he loved it.
He'd been running for 5 minutes at this point until he finally stopped, he looked and saw his shoes were on fire, he quickly kicked them off. "Damn, I really liked those."
Another thought came into his mind, he's got all these powers but, where'd they come from and why now.
That could only be answered one person, his mother or even if that was his mother.
Either way, he had questions and she had the answers he needed. He once again crouched and took off running towards his house.
Once he reached the house, he opened the door, no one was home, he looked around, he thought, 'She must be working late again.'
Damn, so that was a dead end, that was until he felt that all familiar sensation.
The ship was calling to him once more, he then figured if she wouldn't tell him, then the ship that did this to him would.
He walked out of the house and towards the barn, the door was locked, but he just ripped it off and kept walking.
He walked down the long stairs and once again was in the presence of the ship.
He thought, 'Just what the hell are you?'
As if the ship was reading his thoughts, it activated and once again shifted into a handprint.
He once again against his better judgment, put his hand on the switch and instantly he saw the same things, a dying world, 2 people and what looked like a huge war. He saw those things and it continued.
Then all of a sudden, a needle was formed and it was shoved straight into his forehead, he then saw bodies and he was suddenly shocked with electricity.
This continued until he felt himself losing consciousness.
