Author's note: Wow! I didn't know how long ago it was since I last published anything, but I got an idea and ran with it and I just can't keep it to myself. For those hoping (if there is anyone left) that I will update my story Foxhound, I'm sorry to disappoint you but that won't be happening anytime soon. You never know though. So, onto the characters!
Phoenix is based on Porsche from the series KinnPorsche, except he's american, he just has the same sort of hair style, body shape and some of his attitude. If you haven't watched it, I highly recommend you do (unless you don't like BL's and reading subtitles. It's Korean with English subtitles) I thought I wouldn't like it but it's much more than just two gay men haha. I thought it would be full of smut, which it isn't.
I'm not sure on the age of Leon in this story, but I know Phoenix is 5 years younger than him and this is a slight AU (alternate universe). The italics are either Phoenix's inner monologue, or Leon's point of view. I hope it doesn't get too confusing.
-Phoenix Rising-
Chapter 1 - Blame it on the Whiskey
Leon, Ada and you were all on a well deserved vacation on a tropical island, after battling the latest terrorist threat. You are agents working for the government, secret service if you will.
The moon was beaming down brightly, like a torch focused on a target, never waning in the clear sky. The palm trees were still on this night, barely even a breeze crossing them, the sand was white and in the sunshine, the sea was the brightest of blues, however the darkness made it look a silky black with glittering shimmers. Ada had to back to her job after only 4 days there, so it was only you and Leon. It was a warm night when you both went to the tiki bar, dressed in plain short sleeved shirts, yours was a baby blue making your sapphire blue eyes shine in contrast against it and Leon is wearing a shirt that surprisingly matched your eyes, with charcoal shorts, whereas yours were khaki. You are wearing brown sandals (it's too hot for you to wear your Converse that you loved) and Leon was wearing some slip on shoes.
Leon had reserved a table right by the window, where you could clearly see the moon and the stars shining above you both in the dark night sky, it was a breathtaking sight. You both sat down and began to talk. Around forty minutes later, Leon was already through three quarters of a bottle of whiskey. He stared out the window as he downed some more of it, lost in his own thoughts while you drank modestly from a bottle of beer. He looked over to the waitress and called her over.
"Another bottle," he slurred, just able to form words.
She looked at me and I shook my head. "Maybe some cola, please?"
Leon turned his head and looked at me in annoyance. "Hey..." He started before I cut him off.
"I think you've got enough there, don't you?"
"Pshhhh!" He looked away from me and gazed out the window, muttering. "Where do you get off..."
I ran my hand through my jet black hair, which was slicked back in a messy fashion today, one strand dangling down onto my forehead. I smirked at him and his attitude. I was slumped in my chair, relaxing, looking at my partner, my superior, drunk and acting like a teeneager. I laughed internally to myself at the thought. Imagine what they'd say back at the office? I banked it away for later.
I finally broke the silence and the waitress brought Leon's cola to him. I thanked her and turned back to Leon. "Are you OK?" My low voice on the edge of concern, not wanting him to shut me out before I even had a chance to speak. He turned his head to look at me, his icy blue eyes glassy from the alcohol. "Yeah... I'm fine," he replied, not really looking convinced himself.
Shit. You think, believing he'd somehow locked you out already.
"Just needed some time off," he started and I took another drink from the bottle of beer I was holding, waiting for him to continue. "Work. Life... My own head," he stopped, maybe thinking he'd said too much.
That last statement set off a nerve inside my own head. I knew just exactly how that felt. I cleared my throat and attempted to keep the conversation flowing. "Well, drowning your sorrows in too much whiskey isn't going to help."
Leon chuckled softly, taking another swig from his glass, pouring another and one for me too. "Maybe not," he admitted with a shrug. "But it's damn good stuff," he gestured at my drink.
I pick it up gratefully, setting aside my unfinished bottle, raising my glass. "Here, here!" I chanted and took a swig. It burned on the way down, I wasn't really used to drinking whiskey on it's own and a small, short cough escaped from me before I could help it. Leon didn't seem to notice. I looked at him carefully. "How long have we known each other Leon?" Leon's eyes narrowed slightly as he looked over to you.
"I dunno... A few months?" It was actually almost six months now, but who was counting really? "Why do you ask?" He took another drink before setting it down on the table next to him.
I took a breath. "It's just... even in such a short time, I feel like I really got to know you. I mean it's normal for partners to get to know each other, but still..." I took a drink from my glass, finishing it and Leon refilled it. I raised it in thanks and took a sip. "There's something on your mind, I know it. You can talk to me. I know I'm your inferior but that shouldn't matter."
Leon rolled his eyes and let out a soft sigh, leaning back against the window frame. He knew Phoenix wouldn't give up asking. Always asking questions, never missing anything.
"Fine," he grumbled. "You got me. I'm not usually this open about this stuff," taking yet another swig out of his glass. Against my better judgement, I blame the alcohol, I ordered a small bottle of whiskey for us to share, rather than the big one Leon had right now. I adjusted in my seat and gave him my full attention, thanking the waitress when she brought the bottle to our table.
Leon sighed again, more heavily this time. "It's just..." He ran his hand through his long, brown bangs and they fell down to his face again parted to one side. "Work has been really stressing me out lately," he began slowly. "I just never stopped and now that I have, I don't know what to do with myself except drink and lounge around battling my thoughts. Then there's some personal stuff too." He took another drink you offered him and looked up at you with a sheepish grin.
My curiosity increased, I leaned forward holding my glass. "Personal stuff?"
He snorted, "I'm not telling you."
"Aw c'mon! What's personal between partners?" I said almost whining. "You have to tell me now," I grinned playfully at him.
"No!"
"What if I said please?" I pouted. The whiskey was getting to me now, the bottle of beer stood forgotten.
"No," he tried to be firm with me, but it just fueled my curiosity.
"Is it a girl?" I cocked my head to the side still grinning.
"Not exactly," he said slowly.
"Aw c'mon now I have to know!" I paused and then with another grin, "pleeeeeeeease?"
"Alright, fine! Just stop that, people will look."
I stopped, turned my head slightly still looking at him with an eyebrow raised, smirking.
He took a breath, considering me thoughtfully. "Well... I guess you could say there is someone I like and I'm really... attracted to them." He rolled his eyes at himself in embarrassment as he confessed, running a hand over his face. "It's a man."
My brain jammed, slowing down. I sat back shocked. I wasn't expecting this. "Riiiiiiiiiight..."
"And I'd really like to, well, ya know."
My brain finally caught up. Did he mean me?! I sat there dumfounded, my mouth open slightly in shock. Leon smirked slightly at your reaction. "So, uh, what do you say? Do you want me too?"
I could hardly believe it. Leon Kennedy was confessing to me! The baby of our team, the one who was constantly getting teased and giving it back, silently watching my superior, imagining what he was like in a personal way. I fantasized over him many of times, sometimes at work (which got me into a bit of trouble with the Captain) sometimes at home, relieving myself to the image of him in my head. I was five years younger than him, I never thought he'd be interested in someone like me; the troublemaker, rulebreaker, the new blood. Heck, I didn't even know he was interested in men, the women at the agency always fawned over him, much to my jealous annoyance.
I came back to reality and realised Leon was waiting for my answer. "I- Maybe... Sort of... Yeah," my face flushed at the admission.
"You know," he leaned forward seductively, his icy blue eyes never leaving mine. "I could help take care of that for you if you like?"
"I didn't even think you liked me, like at all!" I blurted out.
"Well, I do," Leon replied with a confident grin. The grin I loved so much. "And besides, it's not just about liking you. It's about wanting to make you feel good," he finished, taking a large swig from his glass before setting it down onto the table in front of us again.
"So does this mean you're gay?" I asked before I could stop myself.
Leon chuckled softly at your question. "I've never really seen things in terms of labels," he admitted. "If it feels good and you enjoy it, then who cares what you call it?" His eyes met yours again, filled with sincerity and curiosity.
I swallowed hard, cheeks still pink, biting my lower lip slightly. "I've liked you for a long time now, ya know. I think about you all the time."
His eyes widened slightly as he listened to you, his heart began racing in his chest. "Seriously?" He asked incredulously. "You're actually into me?" He couldn't quite keep the surprise out of his voice. I looked away slightly before looking deep into his eyes, showing him how serious I really was. "Yes," I breathed. Leon felt his heart thudding in his chest so hard he thought it was trying to escape, as he stared into your eyes. The desire he'd been feeling for you suddenly flared up even more intensely, making it hard to think straight. Well, that and the whiskey.
"Upstairs?" He stood up suddenly, taking my hand and dragging me behind him. I laughed at his impatientness, letting him lead the way. We stumbled to the door and Leon removed the key card from his pocket, opening it and pushed me, both of us almost falling through. He snapped the door shut and turned to face me, reaching out slowly, tracing a finger along my jawline, bumping across a scar on my right hand side, before leaning in closer.
I closed the gap kissing him softly, letting out a small moan, my hands running through his hair my own desire seeped out. It felt amazing and his lips were so smooth and supple; I could taste the whiskey too. Leon's body shuddered slightly at the feel of your lips against his, his mind momentarily blanketed by the sensation. His hands found their way to your waist, pulling you closer as he deepened the kiss, their passion igniting like wildfire. I put my arms around his neck, kissing him still, feeling the toned muscles of his body against mine. Time seemed to stand still, only us in this moment, all of our pent up emotions releasing like a burst dam.
Leon felt his heart thudding in his chest, the desire he had been feeling for you suddenly flared up even more intensley, making it hard to think about anything other than what they were doing. It felt like I had been waiting for this moment for an eternity and I hated to pull away from him to speak. "Why don't we go somewhere more comfortable?"
Leon's breath was ragged as he broke the kiss, eyes locked on to yours. "Yeah," he managed to say, his voice thick with passion and arousal. We continued the firey kiss, as we clumsely made our way across the open plan hotel room, falling on to one of the double beds together, Leon on top, both of us breathing heavily. He pinned you against the bed, his hands interlocking yours with a firm grip as he started kissing you again, before running one of them all over your body, exploring every inch of skin they could reach through your clothes. He nipped gently at your lower lip before pulling away to catch his breath. "God."
"I've been waiting so long for this," I revealed to him.
He growled softly in response, his body pressed tight to mine. "So have I," he whispered into my ear before nibbling lightly at my lobe. I moaned, my arousal becoming apparent through my shorts, arching slightly off the bed. Leon growled again, a bit lower this time, as he felt the hardness pressing against him.
"You're so fucking sexy," he muttered between his ragged breaths. He removed my t-shirt in a swift, fluid motion, pushing me carefully back onto the bed and began trailing kisses down my neck and chest. His eyes were gleaming with infatuation and I become more animalistic as his hands started working on my belt buckle and zipper. I yanked off his own t-shirt, throwing it away somewhere, beginning to track hot kisses down the side of his neck and bit him delecately on his collar bone, snarling slightly.
Leon's breath hitched in response to your bite, the slight pain mixed with pleasure sending shivers down his spine. He pulled back slightly to look into my eyes, seeing the lust and hunger mirroring his own. "Just let me be the one to touch you."
"Ok," I surrendered to him, beaming handsomely at him. Leon's heart raced, his hands shaking slightly with anticipation, pushing my pants and boxers down to my ankles, leaving me exposed and vulnerable before him, his own erection still caged in his own shorts. His eyes traced the lines of my body, drinking in every curve, scar and slope. I watched him carefully, wondering if the scars would bother him at all, my heart hammering waiting to see what he was going to do next.
This is more than you'd ever hoped for; dreamed of, although you'd had some very explicit dreams about the two of you. This was real though. This was actually happening!
My thoughts were interuppted when Leon swallowed hard, his mouth watering as he scanned my naked body, the air was heavy. He took a deep breath before moving down me gracefully and knelt down between my legs. My breath hitched and I propped myself up somewhat when I realised what he was about to do. Leon's hands tembled a little as he reached out to touch me, his fingertips tracing over my skin like a feather agonisingly slow. I shivered in anticipation. He leaned forward, kissing the inside of my thighs before moving up towards my cock and then moving away again. He did this a couple of times, kissing around it too until it was too much for me to take.
"Leon, p- Please!" I pleaded with him. He smirked slyly, clearly enjoying my torture and then without warning took my length into his mouth. My eyes grew wide before shutting with a flutter, sighing. "Damn, your lips are so soft."
Leon moaned around it, feeling the warmth of my praise against his cheeks. He took in more, sucking gently as he began to rythmically bob his head up and down. I tangled my hands in the brunettes hair, shuddering with delight, tingles travelling up my spine. I was lost in the bliss, there was only us in this room, nobody else existed, not the Earth, the moon or the stars. Just us.
My hips bucked as Leon began to suck harder now. "Fuck!" I cried out and upon hearing my cry, it only served to increase Leon's need, his mind clouding again lost in the moment. The pleasure increased and I was starting to get louder. "Oh my god- DON'T STOP!" I couldn't help myself, I was seeing spots of light dancing in my field of vision, my eyes clenched shut, waves of satisfaction travelling through my body. My hands were still gripped in his hair tight, Leon groaned once again around me, his body trembling with the effort to keep up the pace. Somehow he increased the intensity of his suction, drawing a deep moan from between my lips as he continued.
I started to thrash around, my hands now gripping the bed sheets like a vice, he pinned my hips with surprising strength to the bed with his hands so I could barely move. My hips were bucking wildly under him, barely able to speak as I rasped out. "I'm- Going to-" I didn't even finish my sentence. Leon felt the first hot spurts of cum against his tongue and swallowed all of it down greedily. He removed him mouth with a pop and moved back to me, leaning over, his breath coming in ragged pants.
"You taste good," he praised, licking his lips seductively. I lay flat on my back, enjoying the waves of after pleasure coursing through me still, looking at Leon with droopy eyes. "Holy... Shit," I said huskily. "That- You- You're amazing."
Leon stole a kiss from me, his breathing still laboured as he stood up, his eyes locked onto mine. He couldn't help but feel a rush of pride at your words. "Thank you," he murmered, reaching out to brush a stray lock of your hair from your face.
"For what?" I tilted my head slightly.
"For letting me do that," he replied and leaned in gradually, pressing his lips against yours in a gentle, yet passionate, kiss. As our tongues danced together, I could taste myself on him and it wasn't that bad.
Damn, I actually taste alright. Strange.
I ran my hands all over his chest, yearning for more. I wanted to return the favour, the heat between us radiating as I could still feel his erection pressed against me. I put a single finger on his lips to stop him from kissing me. "My turn," my voice still husky. I swapped our positions so that Leon was on the bed now and I was above him, kissing his neck moving painfully slow in attempt to tease him. It seemed to be working as he moaned softly, egging me on. I used my right hand to pinch and caress his nipple, building up to what he really wanted.
"Phoenix, please," he begged. My heart jumped as he used my name and I began to reach for the waistband of his shorts, unbuttoning them before taking them off in one quick motion, freeing his cock from it's clothed prison. He let out a sigh of pleasure as it stood proud, his eyes closing as he arched slightly in relief.
I kissed around it, getting closer and closer each time, never quite touching it, smirking as I hear Leon moan in protest. His hips bucked slightly off the bed as I tormented him so skillfully. His hands tangled in your hair now, pulling on the strangs as he arched further into your touch. "Please," he breathed, his voice thick with want and need.
"Since you asked so nicely," I hummed and gradually began to stroke his cock, faintly at first then gripping it properly with my right hand. He let out a long, low moan when you finally took him in hand, twitching and throbbing under your skilled touch. My left snaked up his perfectly chiseled body, rolling his nipple whilst leisurely pumping his manhood, his back arching yet again, hips jerking forward into your touch. "Fuck."
"Do you want more?" still caressing him as I asked.
"Yes," Leon gasped, his hips jerking up into your hand. "I need more." His eyes shined with need as he looked at you, dark and heavy lidded, full of lust.
"As you wish," I quoted a line from one of my favourite movies, before lowering my mouth around his pulsing cock, taking in his full length.
Leon's head whipped back against the bed as you took him, hands still gripping your hair, pulling slightly as he moaned long and low once more. You carried on through the slight pain, Leon arched into your touch over and over. "Fuck... Ah!" He whined. I moved rapidly now, sucking and licking as I reched his tip before crashing back down on his full length, his hips twitching up into my mouth, his cock throbbing harder between my lips.
My right hand sneakily made it's way up his thigh, relishing at the feeling of his muscular legs, so flawless, until I reached one of his balls. I carefully took it into my hand and began to caress it.
Moans echoed throughout the room as I played with him, pinning his hips with my arm as my hand pumped his cock, as my mouth worked the rest humming against him. His body writhed in pure bliss. "Oh, God!" His breathing was erratic, hips bucking wildly, fingers digging further into your hair, holding with a pincer like grip. I coughed but kept up the pace somehow, increasing my speed to edge him further to his climax.
"Fucking hell, Phoenix!" Leon was thrashing around violently now and I pinned his hips with my hands, I was surprisingly strong. I expertly worked my mouth around him and with one final cry of pleasure, Leon reached his limit. Jets of his seed shot into my mouth as I finished him off, lapping up the taste of him not letting any spill out and swallowed hard. I crawled over him shakily, my arms weak now, so I could gaze into his eyes. Oh how I loved those icy blue's.
I lowered myself on top of him, snuggling into his neck. "You taste amazing too," I sighed in content. Leon's eyes were heavy lidded with satisfaction as he wrapped his sturdy arms around you, a slow smile stretching across his lips. "I'm glad we can both say that," he reached out to brush the hair from your face once more.
I chuckled. "This isn't the way I imagined my day going, although I'm so glad it did." Leon let out a smooth laugh, I enjoyed the sound coming from his chest as his breathing slowly evened out. "Me too," he rolled you both over so he could see your face, him on his side and me on my back. He lay on his arm above your head and traced lazy circles on your chest with his fingertip. "This was... more than I could have ever hoped for."
I turned my head to look at him. "Have you been waiting a long time to do this?"
"Yes," Leon admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. "I've wanted this for so long... but I never thought you'd feel the same way." He hesitated before adding softly, "You really are everything I could have ever asked for."
I grinned. "Well then, I'm glad the whiskey got you talking." I paused, frowning slightly as a thought occured to me. "What does this mean for us though? Are we official? Doesn't the agency forbid agents from being together?" I bit my bottom lip.
Leon turned his head to look at you, locking his eyes on you. "I think we should take things slow. I think the whiskey helped us into this tonight," he considered his next words. "We both have a lot to deal with right now... I don't want us to rush into anything."
I smirked. "You call this taking it slow?" I laughed airily. "I agree though, we shouldnt rush this." Leon chuckled softly, his fingers trailing up and down your arm. "I guess it's relative then," he shrugged. "I'm glad you agree," he leaned in for a kiss, which I accepted. He pulled back, his face turning to one of thought.
"What is it?"
Leon lowered his voice. "Do you trust me?" He met your gaze intently, waiting for your response.
"Yes... Why?" I held my gaze to his.
Leon's lips curled into a seductive smile. "Because," his fingers returned to tracing patterns on your chest. "I have plans for us. They involve keeping this a secret between us for a little while longer."
It was my turn to smile now. "Like secret lovers? How scandalous."
Leon's smile turned into a wide grin. "Good," he purred, pressing another kiss on your lips. He rolled off the bed, pulling on his boxers and shorts. "I think we both need a drink." He threw my pants to me, which I caught deftly and propped myself up onto one elbow, watching him with a little smile on my face. "You haven't drank enough already?"
"Never enough," he replied with a grin. "Maybe later I could make you a drink? One of my specialties?" He paused, reaching over and offering his hand to you, to help you up from the bed.
I smiled fully, nodding. "I'd love that," I took his hand gratefully and pulled up my boxers first then my shorts.
"Great," Leon's eyes twinkled with mischief and I eyed him suspiciously. "I'll make sure it's perfect for you." He went to the kitchen and grabbed a couple of beers from the fridge.
"Can't wait," I followed him and took one of the bottles from him.
"Me neither," he twisted the top off his cap and threw it on the counter. I did the same. "To secret lovers," I raised my bottle in the air and motioned him to do the same. He chuckled and raised his bottle to clink yours. "To secret lovers," he echoed, taking a long swig. From what seemed like nowhere, he produced the small bottle of whiskey we started drinking downstairs and placed it on the counter, retrieving two short glasses from the cupboard.
"I thought we left that downstairs," I raised my eyebrows in surprise. He poured the drinks, handing you one. "I brought it up with us," his heart raced slightly at the memory of your intimacy together. He took another swig of beer and I looked at him incredously. "You really are full of surprises."
He tried to maintain his composure and not look smug, not taking his eyes off you. "Thanks."
I downed the whiskey in one gulp, satisfied by the burning sensation this time. We moved to the table in the kitchen, sitting opposite each other in a handsome padded chair each, our eyes never leaving one another. Leon felt a rush of excitement at spending time with you like this, as he took another drink of his beer. I considered him for a moment. "What are you thinking?"
He tried and failed miserably to hide the nervousness in his voice. "I was just thinking how lucky I am to have you here with me," he said honestly.
I laughed inwardly at how odd it was to see the agent before me getting nervous. Who would've thought something like this would make him feel like that. "We got lucky Ada had to leave. If it weren't for that, we would never have had the chance to do this," I grinned devilishly at him.
Leon couldn't help but return your grin. "Yeah, I guess we did." He poured us some more whiskey and leaned back into his chair, trying to appear casual despite the butterflies in his stomach. He's terrible at hiding his feelings when he's drunk, it's so cute.
We talked long into the night about this and that, learning more than ever about each other. What we had been through, what we wanted to do and random small talk, getting drunker by the minute until the whiskey was gone. I was trying to build up the courage to ask him something, so I just came out with it. "So... I, erm... I was meaning to ask," I slurred. "You said you weren't gay but that you wouldn't put a label on it. What I was wondering was... Have you ever been with anyone else?"
Leon's heart missed a beat, not expecting the question yet appreciating your honesty. "I- Well..." He was slurring too, although more than me.
Shit. Why did I ask that? That was stupid. Apologise to him you idiot.
"I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable. I was just curious," I drank the last of my beer, setting it aside avoiding Leon's gaze, scratching the back of my head.
"No, it's ok," he reassured you. "It's just- Not something I usually talk about. He took a profound breath, looking at you directly. "I've been with a few women, but never anyone like you."
I blushed profously. "Wh- What do you mean?" I stammered.
"I have to admit. I find you incredibly attractive."
"You're not so bad looking yourself," I teased, gaining a chuckle from Leon. He reached across the table, grabbing my hand, holding it in his. My head shot up to look at him. He gave it a gentle squeeze. "I think there's something special between us." This was the most sober he sounded all night. My heart pounded. "I've never connected with anyone the way I have with you. I've never even been in a proper relationship before."
"Well, maybe it's time to change that," Leon suggested, beaming at me. He leaned in closer to you, his hand still holding yours tightly. "I think we could have something really special together." I rested my forehead on his and closed my eyes for a moment. "You're so brilliant Leon Kennedy," I managed before slumping down on the table, passing out still holding his hand.
Leon's heart swelled with warmth at your words and genty lifted you into his arms, cradling you against his chest as he carried you to the couch. I sighed contently in my sleep. I felt so warm.
He gently laid you down, making sure you were comfortable before stepping back. He watched over you for a minute with affection, stroking your hair, his mind racing with the events of the night. He grabbed a thin blanket from the wardrobe and placed it over you gingerly, not wanted to wake you. As you continued to sleep, Leon couldn't help feeling a sense of contentment wash over him as he watched you still, taking in your peaceful expression and the gentle, rythmic rise and fall of your chest with each breath. You twitched once but slept on, Leon deciding to get some sleep himself. He slumped back onto the pillows and drifted off almost immediately.
I was dreaming. It started wonderfully at first. Leon and I were relaxing on the powdery, white sand at the beach, sunglasses on, bathing suits with no shirts. It was bliss. The crystal blue water waving leisurely at us and there was not a cloud in the sky. A cool, gentle breeze ruflled through our hair but suddenly turned menacing, starting to whip around us as the sky turned black. Leon disappeared in an instant and I was alone. Or so I thought. A sludge green monster four meters high, gargling and grotesque, slunk from the water, with purposeful stomps towards me, dragging it's long, spindly arms behind it, nails as sharp as knives. My breath quickened, getting ready to run. It was slow. I could outrun it. Regroup. Fight it off. Without warning it lunged towards me, quicker than lightning, it's nails aimed at my neck.
Leon woke up with a start as he heard you whimpering, his heart racing as he realised you were having a nightmare. He moved to your side swiftly, gently shaking your shoulder to try and wake you.
I jolted awake with a sharp gasp, sweaty, breathing heavily as if I'd just ran a marathon. The blanket that covered me slid onto the floor, I stared around wide eyed and realised where I was. I relaxed back onto the couch, frowning. "Hey," Leon whispered softly, his voice filled with concern.
"Leon," I mumbled, looking at him.
"It's just a dream," he reassured you, his voice calm and soothing. He pulled you in for a hug, rubbing your back soothingly as he tried to help you relax. "You're safe here with me."
I leaned into him, relieved to be in his arms. "Sorry I woke you, it was such a dumb dream," I rubbed my tired eyes with my hand.
"Don't worry about it, it's natural to have nightmares sometimes. Especially in our line of work. Even I do," Leon said softly. He held you close for a few more moments before pulling back slightly, his eyes searching yours. "You know if you ever want to talk about anything... Or if you just need someone to listen, I'm here for you." He gave your shoulder a squeeze before letting go, his expression softening.
I smiled warmly at him. "Right now I just need sleep," I sighed. "Mind if I join you in bed?"
"Of course not," he replied. You climbed into bed together, Leon pulling the covers back for you and tucking them around you once you were settled. He scooted beside you, spooning up against your back. I sighed in satisfaction, enjoying his warmth. "Thank you," I muttered sleepily before falling back to sleep.
"Any time," Leon whispered, his broad chest rising and falling rythmically as he drifted back to sleep. His arm snaked around your waist, pulling you closer to him for comfort, both of you filled with joy as you let the night overcome you.
