Kendall was ecstatic to be at Hogwarts, sure finding he was a magical wizard was a shock, but nonetheless cool as hell. The best part was that his two best friends; James and Carlos were also wizards! Both of James's parents were wizards, but since the divorce, he mainly lived with his mom and his dad moved overseas somewhere. On the other hand, Carlos was called a half-blood, when a wizard marries a non-magical being or muggle as it was commonly called. His mother was a wizard and his dad was (the world's awesome) a cop. Kendall had no idea if he was what was known as a muggle-born, a wizard who was born from two muggles or a half-blood. Kendall suspected that he was a muggle-born as there was no way his dad would walk out on them if he was a wizard.
Kendall was worried about his mom and little sister, as his mom was already struggling to pay the bills and his Hockey lessons, unfortunately, converting muggle money into wizard money was a lot more expensive than they originally thought and while the goblins did offer a student debt to students like him, both Brooke Diamond and Silvia Garcia had both insisted to pay for Kendall's supplies, not only that but put some money aside in a separate account just for Kendall for his future studies. While Sylvia had taken the boys to buy their robes gone to buy their robes, Brooke had stayed behind with Jennfier and opened a bank account for Kendall at Gringot's and put some of her own money (she had insisted) into the account, she had put in 1,000 Galleons, 300 Sickles, and 100 Knuts which was way more than what Kendall needed, but both Brooke and Sylvia had insisted he needed to money not only to buy stuff from Diagon Alley, but also in Hogsmede when they were allowed to go. What Kendall and his mom didn't know is that the amount Brooke put in was roughly worth $10,000 in Muggle Money. Brooke then gave Jennifer a key, explaining that was how they could access their vault, the key was shiny and gold and had intricate designs that made up the bow of the key, James explained that every key was goblin-made and each key was unique, meaning no two keys had the same bow. It was how they prevented people from breaking into the bank. This had caused to Kendall to relax slightly, knowing that his mom didn't need to provide a lot of money for his education and was therefore able to hopefully give Katie a good present for her birthday this year. Once they had their robes, the boys had excitedly dragged Kendall around Diagon Alley to get their supplies before going home and counting down the days until the train left for Hogwarts. But Kendall was worried that the school had made a mistake as he watched his friends excitedly tell tales of when they had accidentally done magic as kids and Kendall couldn't remember any sort of event that had happened in his childhood that would've been explained by magic. What if they kicked him out? Would James and Carlos still be his friends? And what about Logan? How was he supposed to explain this to him? What if the school was haunted like that movie he had watched last week? Those doubts plagued Kendall's mind for the next few weeks until it was finally time to board the train, he had almost backed down from leaving as he hugged his weeping mother and said how much she was going to miss him, but Carlos and James had dragged him onto the train and into a compartment and chatted excitedly throughout the journey, leaving Kendall alone to his thoughts.
Once Kendall, Carlos and James arrived at Hogwarts, all his fears and doubts were pushed away at the sight of the magnificent castle, the gigantic man known as Hagrid (who Kendall immediately liked) knocked on the giant doors where an elderly woman opened the door, Kendall immediate knew that she had a high authority in the castle and was quite well respected. She had a stern look in her eye but Kendall sensed that she had a good heart.
The woman, Professor McGonagall led them to the great hall to be sorted, Kendall was amazed by the ceiling, Carlos kept moaning about how hungry he was, while James checked his hair
Apparently, to get sorted they had to put on an old hat, which apparently could talk. Kendall waited while his peers sorted, James was first, and he got sorted into Gryffindor, the house of the brave. Carlos followed soon after and got sorted into Hufflepuff, the house of the loyal, which, from what Kendall read, suited Carlos.
Soon Kendall was up and as soon as the hat was dropped over his eyes and voice in his ear said "Hmmm, you are quite an interesting young man"
"Hey! Stay out of my head!" Kendall said to the hat
"You have the bravery of a Gryffindor, the loyalty of a Hufflepuff, the smarts of a Ravenclaw and the cunningness of a Slytherin. Anyone of the houses would suit you quite finely"
"does it really matter what house I'm in? Either way, I'm going to get judged and people focus way too much on what they are, rather than who they are"
"is that so?"
"well yeah, I mean everyone claims that everyone in Slytherin is evil, but maybe that's because they were already treated as such. Everyone outcasts them, leaving them alone and angry in the world, so in order to get rid of the pain, they do the wrong things. Make the world feel their pain, make everyone know what it's like to suffer"
"quite right you are. For too many years I have been forced to sort many students into Slytherin not because they belong there, but because they have to be in there. They feel like they do not belong anywhere else because of the way their parents were treated. I believe you could change the way things are. I know exactly where you should go…SLYTHERIN!"
The Slytherin table clapped as the hat was lifted off his head, as Kendall hopped off the stool, he noticed that his plain black robes now had green lining and he had the house's symbol on the right side. Kendall sat down and watched the rest of the sorting, Kendall was confused when whispers were exchanged when some kid named 'Harry Potter' was called. Kendall didn't see what the big deal was, he looked like a normal kid, a little shorter than average, with messy black hair, green eyes and a scar shaped like a lightning bolt. Harry potter. Why does that name sound so familiar?
Kendall was snapped out of his thought by the Gryffindor cheering loudly, apparently, the Potter kid had joined their table, and everyone on Kendall's table grumbled as the last few students were sorted, with only 2 more joining them. The Gandalf look-alike (yes, he read Lord Of The Rings. Mainly because Katie wanted it as her bedtime story and Logan had made them watch the movie) stood up and told them to tuck in, immediately the tables were filled to the brim with more food than Kendall had ever seen. Kendall ate and listened to the chatter of his fellow housemates
"So, Kendall. I don't think I recognise your name. Are you a half-blood?" Kendall turned to see an annoying blonde kid talking to him, Kendall immediately didn't like him as he got a feeling of smugness from him.
"I don't know. My mom's a muggle and my dad walked out when I was 6" Kendall said, Malfoy gave him a strange look, but before he could say anything, desert replaced the empty dinner dishes and he got distracted by a chocolate cake. Kendall sat back and looked around the hall, he noticed that both James and Carlos were quite happy with their houses, and the teachers were conversing with each other. But Kendall noticed that the teacher with the long black hair was not talking to anyone, instead glancing around the hall, he must have sensed that he was being watched as his eyes turned to Kendall. Kendall stared back at the teacher's cold eyes for what seemed like an eternity before the teacher seemed to give him a small nod, before looking away. Shaking his head at the weird behaviour, Kendall waited patiently as the last of the dishes disappeared and Gandalf stood up, and addressed the school before everyone started to sing one of the weirdest songs Kendall had heard. He saw that the Slytherins were mostly mouthing the song with sour expressions while some didn't sing at all.
Soon the song was done and they were dismissed, Kendall tried to get to his friends but was unable to get through the sea of the students. 'oh well' he thought 'I'll try again tomorrow. Kendall followed his house down to their common room, which was apparently in the dungeons. Under the lake. Thankfully Kendall wasn't aquaphobic, but he was still terrified at the thought of sleeping UNDER A LAKE!
The next day, Kendall arrived early for breakfast, knowing that Carlos was a morning person and would definitely be early for breakfast and sure enough, sitting at his table with the few other early risers was his best friend.
"Carlos!" Kendall called, getting his friend's attention, who grinned as Kendall ran up to him "hey"
"hey, Kendall! Isn't this place awesome? Look! They have pancakes. They're not as good as my mami's, but they make nice fried eggs and jam. This jam is delicious like it was freshly made, do you think it was freshly made? Because I think it is and…" Carlos said in one breath
"Carlos. Breathe" Kendall gently reminded his friend, an amused smile on his face, Carlos took a dramatic breath before grinning
"Sorry. It's just that I'm excited"
"me too" Kendall grinned "mind if I join you?" Carlos nodded and Kendall sat down next to him, filled up his plate and continued to talk to Carlos, both boys oblivious to the strange stares they were receiving from the rest of the students as they came in, or the fact that the Hufflepuffs that were sitting near Carlos had shifted. after an hour or so, James finally wandered in and sat down on the other side of Carlos.
"hey guys," James said around a yawn, Carlos smirked
"hey sleeping beauty. About time you got up"
"shut up. You can't rush perfection" James indicated his perfectly combed hair as he made himself a fruit salad "so, this place is crazy. Isn't it?"
"yeah, how are your common rooms?" Kendall asked his friends, apparently the Gryffindor common room was at the top of the west tower guarded by some weird singing portrait, while the Hufflepuff common room was in the basement guarded by some barrels.
"Hey, has anyone noticed that everyone is staring at us?" Kendall asked glancing around
"Now that you've mentioned it, I have noticed everyone giving us strange looks" Carlos nodded, looking at his peers, who were all squished together, sitting as far away from them as possible
"they're probably jealous of this," James said, getting his lucky comb out and brushing his hair, his friends rolled their eyes and Carlos ruffled his hair "ah! My hair! Carlos!" James brought up his comb to fix it, only for Kendall to start tickling him
"hey!" James said as he began to laugh, he gently pushed them away and quickly scrambled to his feet and ran out the door with Kendall and Carlos hot on his heels
"Guys stop it!" James said in between laughs as they ran out the door, leaving everyone staring at them.
After breakfast, Kendall found himself waiting outside snape's office waiting for his schedule, due to him getting up early he didn't get his schedule with the rest of his peers.
"come in Mr Knight," Snape said, his voice cold and empty, Kendall entered the office and sat down at the chair in front of Snape's desk "I couldn't help but notice you sitting with a Hufflepuff AND a Gryffindor. Why?" Kendall frowned at the way he said the houses as if they were a disease
"they're my friends. We made a promise that no matter what house we would get into, we would remain friends" Kendall said strongly, glaring at Snape
"does it occur to you that the only loyalty Slytherin shows is to its own? How long before you're so-called friends ditch you?"
"they won't. We made a promise that no m what house we get into, we would remain friends, and they don't care that I'm a Slytherin, James's mom used to be a Slytherin and she's pretty nice, a bit controlling, but nice. Plus, the only reason half the house turns evil is that everyone treats them as if they are already evil. Half the kids here are only in this house because they think it'll make their parents proud of them. malfoy was already going on about muggle-borns and how they are a disgrace, but he always said 'my father says…', he never once puts his opinion about them. So that begs the question…just how many Slytherins agree with their parents?" Kendall locked his fingers and rested them on his knees leaning his chin against them, Snape frowned at him.
"that is quite an interesting perspective Mr Knight" he eventually said, before handing him a slip of parchment "I'll be seeing you in potions after lunch" Kendall took the parchment and left the office.
ok, so this is going to be a bunch of one-shots about BTR at Hogwarts, here are the ideas I have:
the mirror of Erised-I need ideas for they would see
they become Animagi (in the mobile game, you can become one in 3rd year, and I do think the boys would be driven enough to become Animagi ASAP)
