"Eggman!"
Super Sonic, Super Shadow, and Super Silver golden light illuminated the black abyss of Egg Horizon, the mad doctor's newest world-conquering invention.
By using the space-time altering power of the Chaos Emeralds, Eggman created a gravitational singularity in the center of his newest fortress, the Neo Death Egg. Inside the singularity, Eggman was able to manufacture a seemingly endless supply of Horizon Badniks without having to worry about the laws of physics, space, or time, making them much, much stronger than the typical Badnik. Sonic had to call on every friend he knew in order to keep them from taking over the world.
After collecting the Chaos Emeralds, the three Super hedgehogs invaded the Neo Death Egg, destroying the newest wave of Horizon Badniks. All that was left was to defeat the doctor, and destroy the factories that were creating the super-powered Badniks. That, however, was easier said than done.
"Where is he?" Super Shadow grunted as they floated through. The trio had been flying through the Egg Horizon for hours now, but that hadn't caught a glimpse of the doctor yet.
"You think we could be flying into a trap?" Super Silver asked, a cyan aura covering a wide area around the hedgehog. With his heightened psychic powers, he should be able to detect Eggman from a mile away.
"Nah. With all three of us, the doc can't take us by surprise. He's probably getting ready to take out all of us head on," Super Sonic said, crossing his arms and grinning excitedly as he waited for Eggman to show his face.
"How very astute of you, rodent!" All three hedgehog's flinched and scattered. Where they once floated, space-time was shattered so irreparable, Super Sonic's speed alone wouldn't be able to restore it. Despite that, Sonic grinned as he turned upside down and met Eggman's hateful gaze, a wide grin splitting the doctor's face as he piloted his most powerful mech to date.
"Welcome, heroes!" Eggman greeted the Super hedgehogs, a blue light illuminating his face. "Have you enjoyed the festivities yet? I assure you, the best is yet to come!" He exclaimed as his new mecha began to glow, revealing its true form.
The Egg Azathoth was perhaps the largest mecha Eggman was created, being nearly half the size of Perfect Dark Gaia, and that wasn't the only point of inspiration from that particular deity. Multiple draconic heads came from the mech's back, seven in total, each one made out a sleek black metal with golden light coming out their eyes.
The Azathoth's torso was a rough humanoid shape, its proportions matching the egg shape of the infamous doctor. The lower half, however, had a long, slithering tail that had a black hole at its tip. And instead of typical arms, there were two large heads floating next to the mech's body, each one depicting Eggman's ugly mug.
"Heh! You sure know how to throw a party, Eggman!" Sonic jeered. "But it's a bit late, and people are trying to sleep. Why don't we call it quits here before somebody reports you for disturbing the peace!" Eggman chuckled as he grabbed the controls on his console, making the oversized mech move back slightly.
"I'll do more than that once I'm finished with you three! Once I send you all to the end of time, I'll conquer the planet, and then, the entire universe will be mine! HAAA HA HA HA!" Eggman laughed. Super Sonic smirked and readjusted his gloves; Super Shadow crossed his arms over his chest; Super Silver's aura flared as he outstretched his hands.
"Fat chance of that happening, Baldy McNosehair!" Super Sonic taunted, causing the doctor to fume. The hedgehog turned his head back, his gaze briefly meeting the crimson gazes of his companions. "Let's finish this."
Super Shadow and Super Silver nodded. A moment passed before they all teleported away.
"What the–!?" Eggman muttered, a shriek coming out of his mouth as the Egg Azathoth was suddenly sent flying backwards. The tail of the machine whipped forward, but the three Super hedgehogs scattered before the event horizon passed through them.
Super Sonic suddenly teleported in front of the Azathoth's cockpit, a shit-eating grin on the hedgehog's muzzle as he drew his fist back and tried to punch the glass partition. Before he could, a draconic head reached over and fired a temporal distorting beam at the hedgehog, space and time ripping apart as it flew toward its target. Super Sonic flew away and taunted the doctor with rude gestures and names. Eggman growled and flew towards the glittering rodent and forgot about his super powered compatriots.
Super Silver flew above the Egg Azathoth, his target being the heads sprouting from the machine's back. He raised his hand, multiple golden Psychic Knives appearing around him and flying forwards on his command. They exploded upon contact, each strike causing the metal to bend slightly. Frowning, Super Silver to thin necks and pulled, causing the heads to slam together and shatter. The left Egg Head turned around and opened their mouths to attack, but Super Shadow flew by and let loose a barrage of Chaos Spears. The Egg Head flew back as the Spears exploded inside its mouth, leaving it open to a barrage of world-shattering attacks from Super Shadow.
"You irritating rodents!" Eggman growled as he turned the Egg Azathoth away from Super Sonic. A portal opened up beneath Super Shadow, and a dragon head lunged out, its maw glowing bright with temporal energy. The super hedgehog only flew inside and began spinning rapidly. He spun so fast, the temporal displacement energy had no effect on him, and the spinning force ripped the dragon's head from its neck.
Super Shadow grabbed the robot head and tossed it at the Egg Azathoth's torso. The pointy jaw managed to pierce the mech's armored torso, causing Chaos Energy to seep through the new;y made hole. "Why you little…!" Eggman cursed as he slammed his fist on the controls. The remaining heads roared loudly. Super Silver created a blue aura around himself and Super Shadow, grunting with effort as the dragon heads tried to send both of them to the beginning of time. Luckily, Super Sonic flew to the heads and Spin Dashed through one.
The force of the blow caused the Egg Azathoth to lurch forward, which moved the time-displacement waves away from Super Silver's shield. Both hedgehogs teleported and reappeared behind the mech and sent a volley of Psychic Knives and Chaos Spears into its back. Two more heads were cut from the back, leaving only one dragon head attached to Azathoth's back.
The Right Egg Head opened its mouth and started inhaling with the force of a black hole, dragging the Super Hedgehogs towards it. Super Shadow flew out of the vortex and slammed into the head's right cheek, and Super Silver grabbed the head with his powers. With a loud shout, the super psychic launched the dragon head embedding in the Egg Azathoth's stomach. The head exploded, ripping a large portion out of the Azathoth's body and causing even more Chaos Energy to spew out of the wound.
The Super Hedgehog's regrouped in front of the damaged Egg Azathoth, Super Sonic smirking as he looked down at the doctor. "C'mon! Is that the best you can do!?" Super Sonic taunted the Egg Azathoth and tried to correct its flight path. Eggman snarled at the hedgehog, but after taking a few breaths to calm himself down, he smiled sinisterly.
"No… in fact, I'm just getting started!" Eggman shouted.
A portal emerged behind the hedgehog's and the last dragon head consumed the three super-powered hedgehogs. It sealed its mouth shut as its eyes glowed violently, the temporal energy firing at full power inside its mouth.
Super Shadow grunted in pain as all three hedgehog's visions were covered in a blinding yellow glow, their crimson eyes being the only things they could see. Super Sonic shivered from the sensation, his eyes widening as he felt time move backwards around him.
"Oh, this is very unpleasant!" Super Silver exclaimed time warped around them. He tried to pry open the dragon's mouth, only to realize it wasn't there anymore. Looking back, Super Silver let out a gasp as he saw their past play out right in front of their eyes.
"Shadow! How do we get back to our own time?!" Super Sonic exclaimed as they saw their entire solar system devolve back into a cloud of space dust.
"If all three of us use Chaos Control at the same time… We should be able to prevent the dragon head from ever consuming use!" Super Shadow explained. "We have to time this perfectly, though! If we make any mistakes, we could tear the space continuum apart!"
"Are you serious!? I've barely had any time practicing Chaos Control!" Super Silver exclaimed.
"And I'm out of practice," Super Sonic grumbled. "Shadow, you might need to take off those inhibitor rings to pick up our slack!" Super Shadow nodded in understanding. The golden bracelets around his wrists disappeared from view, and his entire body surged with energy.
After sharing a look, the three hedgehogs put their hands together. The thought about returning to the fight with Egg Azathoth, and the Chaos Emeralds surged inside of them, transforming their thoughts into pure, Chaotic energy.
"Let's do this…!" Super Sonic exclaimed as the Big Bang exploded before their very eyes.
"CHAOS… CONTROL!"
Tails hummed worriedly as he stood inside the control room of the Neo Death Egg. Sitting before him was the Egg Horizon, though the only way he even knew that was how light acted irregularly around it.
"Tails, did you hear back from Sonic yet?" The fox turned around to see Amy looking worriedly at the Egg Horizon, her hands clasped over her chest.
"I won't be able to know anything until Sonic and the others come back. A gravitational singularity is causally separated from the rest of the universe, so we won't know anything until they win," Tails informed her. Amy bit her lip but nodded nonetheless. She walked back to Cream and Gemerl, each of which were standing to the side.
Tails took a moment to examine the room, taking note of just how many people it took to stop Eggman this time around. Team Rose were off to the side; they couldn't find Big in time, so Gemerl had to take his spot. Team Dark, sans Shadow, stood next to them. The Chaotix were rummaging through files on the computer, deleting anything that the doctor could use to rebuild the Egg Horizon. The Diamond Cutters stood to the left of the room, Tangle fidgeting in place while Whisper and Lanolin talked in hushed whispers. The reason for their conversation were the Babylon Rogues; the birds sat on their air boards as they examined the mysterious metal Eggman used for his Horizon Badniks, wondering how much they could be sold for.
Blaze sat on the floor, breathing heavily as she regained her stamina from using the Sol Emeralds against the Neo Death Egg's defense systems. Without her, they never would have made it to the control room, and the hedgehogs wouldn't have been able to go Super and fight Eggman in the Horizon. Standing behind her was the rusted Mecha Sonic; his crab arm was wrapped around the encapsulated sunflower he took care of back on Scrapnik Island.
"Don't worry so much Amy!" Rouge reassured the pink hedgehog. "Those boys are some of the toughest people on Earth!"
"Yeah! Besides, they have the Chaos Emeralds with them! There's no way they can lose to Eggman!" Tangle exclaimed as she sat on her extendable tail.
"Uh, guys? Some funny numbers are showing up on the monitor," Charmy suddenly piped up. Tails titled his head in confusion and walked up to the Chaotix. Gemerl and Omega turned to the Egg Horizon, their scanners going through multiple calculations.
"What the heck do you mean 'funny numbers?'" Wave said, pushing her air board over to the monitor and hovered next to Tails. The two quickly read through the readings they got from Egg Horizon. Simultaneously, Tails and Wave's eyes widened, Gemerl's and Omega's eyes brightened, and Blaze's eyes snapped open.
Immediately, the cat summoned the seven Sol Emeralds and transformed into Burning Blaze. She thrust her hands forward and created a sphere of fire around the Egg Horizon, preventing a powerful gravity wave from bursting out of the singularity and destroying the entire station.
"What the heck! I thought you said nothing can come out of the singularity!" Jet squawked in surprise, dropping the scrap metal from his hands.
"An enormous amount of Chaos Energy is spilling from the Egg Horizon. This should be causally impossible," Gemerl informed the group. "This can only mean Sonic, Shadow, and Silver are using Chaos Control."
"However," Omega interrupted the reformed Badnik, "The amount of Chaos Energy being emitted is higher than anticipated. Shadow must have taken off his inhibitor rings. It is also likely that Eggman has interrupted their combined Chaos Control in some way, thus leading to the destabilization of the Egg Horizon."
"Can any of you speak English!? What's going to happen to the rest of us if we don't stop this!?" Vector demanded to know.
"The entire solar system will be wiped off the map!" Wave revealed, drawing a gasp from each of the Sonic Heroes.
Whisper slowly turned her head to Tangle, as did Lanolin. The lemur let an embarrassed chuckle as she looked away, and she began to whistle as though she didn't just jinx their entire operation the moment she opened her mouth.
"Blaze, we long can you keep Egg Horizon stable?!" Tails shouted. Burning Blaze grunted as the fires around the Egg Horizon started to expand.
"Not… long…!" Burning Blaze breathed out, the strain of keeping an overwhelming amount of energy quickly draining what remained of her energy. "But… I can try to mitigate the effects, limit them to just the Neo Death Egg." She opened her eyes and looked back at the group. "However, at this rate, there will not be enough time to evacuate…" Burning Blaze's words seemed to physically weigh down the Sonic Heroes, making all of them pause.
"I guess we don't have a choice, if it's the only way to save the world!" Everybody turned around to see Cream, the youngest of the Sonic Heroes, stand up, a fire in bright cyan eyes.
"...She's right," Knuckles spoke up, squeezing his eyes shut and taking a breath. "And it's not like we can just jump ship now."
"He's right about that…" Lanolin mused, placing a hand on her hips. "Blaze, do what you have to do."
"Feh… this is the last time I'm going on an adventure with any of you," Jet grumbled. Somehow, that wry comment managed to get everybody in the room chuckle.
"Don't worry, I'll do my best to save all of you. You have my word," Burning Blaze reassured them. She turned back to the Egg Horizon and clenched her hands. The fires pulsed and moved closer to the singularity. However, one strong pulse of gravity waves mixed with Chaos Energy was emitted from the Egg Horizon, causing Burning Blaze to stumble.
Space and time were torn apart as the Egg Horizon spun rapidly as Burning Blaze's fire suppressed the energy bursting from the singularity. Even a small portion of that energy distorted reality to an incredible degree, causing the Neo Death Egg to flicker in and out of existence. Seconds, centuries, minutes and millennia all passed in the span of a few moments.
The Neo Death Egg flickered in the night sky and disappeared from view. After all, Eggman never built it in the first place.
