Chapter 9: New Discovery and Changes
A week had passed ever since school started and currently, it's the month of September. In his dorm, Kappei woke up early and with a smile. "The time has come. For the class to witness it." He went to check his phone and noticed a new notification. "Hmmm...bring a towel and some toiletries for PE class later..."
After reading it, he freshen up, suited up and went down to get a bite. For Gumchi, he was last seen eating cup noodles for his breakfast. Now in the dining hall, he was served white rice with a scoop of corned beef mixed with onions and potatoes and a handful of scrambled eggs. He also helped himself to 2 chocolate chip muffins and a glass of milk.
Once done, he sat with his friends as they ate and chat about some manly topics. After breakfast, he got ready for school gathering what he needs for today and once ready, he left the dorms and Gumchi is watching movies from the PC. (He was taught how to switch on and off the computer that's why)
Later in class, everyone waited and mingled with each other. Emma is teaching Vega and Maeve some basic street dance moves as they observed her footwork, Jeong is gaming on his laptop with Slick and Hank watching the gameplay and Declan is chatting with Kolton about forming a rock band.
For Kappei, he decided to check this week's class schedule as he opened the app and looked through for today.
Math-9 to 9:45am
Chemistry-9:45 to 10:30am
Physics-10:30 to 11:15am
PE(Swimming)-11:15 to 12pm
Lunch-12 to 1pm
Ninja Training-1 to 3pm
"Wait, we have swimming class during PE? No wonder the message I received this morning..." Kappei had a perplexed look on his face and not just him, a few of the boys were also looking at today's schedule and they had the same look as him. Kappei then took a glance at Emma as his eyes were darted at her- "Hey...are you looking and thinking about Emma's chest size?"
He almost coughed in shock as behind, Shane is snickering as he adjusted his fedora. "What are you doing here Shane?"
"One, my seat is behind you and I sit here all the time. Two, I sort of wanted to take a quick peek at today's class schedule from your phone."
"You do know you can check from your own phone right?" Kappei asked.
"Sorry. Charing it right now with my own portable charger. It died today because I forgot to charge it overnight." Shane replied.
"Okay..." Kappei then continued to watch Emma who's now supervising Vega and Maeve as the 2 girls tried to do the dance moves.
Exactly at 9, Sensei Tatsu entered the class and he has some important information to explain today. "A week had passed since all of you started so today before I begin, I will explain something regarding this school." All paid close attention as he began. "Firstly on your first term, you have exams to study for so better start hitting the books and I do not mean it literally."
"Why is that?" Midori asked.
"The previous class I taught before you guys are all seen hitting their textbooks and notebooks with weapons. Be it from their own hands or from their awakened powers." He answered and the whole class burst into laughter. "Very funny. Now your exams will be on November on the last week of the month followed by your Christmas break in which you guys can choose to stay in your dorms or visit your family and other friends of yours outside during the holidays."
"Yes! This is my chance to pay the kids a visit!" Emma thought.
"After that, you have your second term and it's where we'll prioritize the ninja training because around early April, we'll have a Ninjala Tournament for all the freshmen." Sensei Tatsu announced.
"YEAAAAAAAH!" All cheered because one, they can get into more action and second, no exams. After all, it's a ninja high school. "More details will be revealed once we begin the second term. Now, I marked your homework and some of you appeared to be dumbfounded in the equations on fractions and algebra."
That stunned some of the students as the first lesson begins.
3 lessons later...
At the swimming pool located behind the school, the class arrived and Coach Spruce was waiting for them and he wore black swim trunks. Not to mention he really has a muscular physique that's visible for the first time. "Good timing boys and girls! I hope you brought your towels and your toiletries! Now take these small bags and get changed. Inside are you school issued swimsuits and goggles. One pile for the boys on my left and one pile for the girls on my right."
Everyone took the bags and went to get changed. In the boy's restroom, Kappei checked his black swim trunks. "Looks like the size is okay for me." He then got changed into it and, "Dude! You look ripped!" Declan pointed out. "More ripped that Cruz, Davis, Hank, Kurt and several others!"
"Me?" Kappei asked as, "Not bad. You got an eight-pack abs and your arms are well-developed like mine." Bull described as he flexed his muscles. Due to his large and buff frame, he can be considered the most muscular among the boys and the majority are decently fit in terms of their body structure.
"Based on my observation, Bull, Kappei, Davis, Yamikage, Shane and Slick have 8-pack abs. The rest of us have 6-pack pabs." Jeong thought and he got changed already.
A minute later, the boys are gathered in front of the pool as the girls showed up.
"Dudes! Hot chicks at 9'o clock!" Marcel whispered as some of them looked to their left and got excited.
While the boys wore black swim trunks, the girls wore one piece black swimsuits as some of them noticed the boys staring at them.
"Sometimes they can be creepy..." said Chantelle.
"Can't they look at something else?" Nichelle asked with Miyumi nodding in agreement when Emma noticed Kappei. "Oh my gosh...he's so hot! Those arms...legs...even the abs...they're so manly..."
At the same time, "Emma looks beautiful in that swimsuit. Even though her...uh...chest is pretty big, it still fits her well..." Kappei couldn't take his eyes off Emma as, "Okay! I trust that all of you know how to swim?" Coach Spruce asked. All nodded as, "Perfect! Get into groups of 3 or 4 and swim 10 laps in the pool! After that, you swim freely for the rest of the time till lunch!"
All obeyed and began forming groups. Kappei and Emma joined up and then, Archie and Maeve joined them. Now the pool has 8 lanes based on the layout design underwater as everyone took up positions. Diving occurred first followed by the freestyle swimming as everyone swam and practiced their formations.
For Kappei and his group, Emma went first as she dove it and swam with grace and elegance. "Nice. My turn!" Maeve dove next as the boys waited. "So which girl is the hottest in our class?" Archie asked.
"Beats me." Kappei replied. "And I kinda like my swimming attire. Better than the ones the academies provided."
"Oh yeah. I do remember the black and white striped swimming costume." Archie recalled as the girls finished their first 2 laps. Archie dove in followed by Kappei. "Wait, he forgot to wear his goggles." Maeve noticed.
But somehow, "Whoa...I can see underwater?" Kappei then remembered the laps so he swam his way to the end and back forth and as he got up, "How are you so fast?" Emma asked.
"Yeah! You seemed to be flowing with water in perfect sync!" Maeve brought up as Archie swam in. "Dude. By the time I finished my first lap, I saw you finish your 2 laps!"
"That's unusual..." Kappei thought. "Unless..." So after swimming another 4 laps, he decided to test it. He went underwater and looked around. He then stopped after a few minutes. "I can breathe underwater?" He then felt the flow around him as he resurfaced. "Better finish my remaining laps."
30 minutes later, the whole class completed their 10 laps and they're now frolicking around the pool. Some are using the diving board for some freestyle diving while others splashed each other or play chicken.
Now Kappei and Emma are just sitting on the ledge of the pool dipping their legs as they talked with one another. "Turns out, I might be feeling the flow through power." He told her.
"So it explains how you're fast in swimming?" She asked.
"Not only that. I can also see clearly and breathe for some time underwater." He revealed.
"Wow...how is this possible?" She asked.
"I wish I knew..." He replied as he summoned some of the pool water with his right hand and suddenly, "SPLISH!"
"Did you just splash my face?" Emma asked as he grinned. Then, she pushed him into the pool with one hand and grinned gleefully. In response, he resurfaced, swiftly grabbed her by the arms and pulled her in!
That was some splashing fun as the 2 of them ended up having a splash fight while laughing.
Time skip to ninja training...
In the dojo, the class is gathered as Sensei Tatsu began the training and there are crates on the floor. "Before anything, has anyone have something to do first like use the bathroom?"
"Wait sensei! Our mate here still hasn't awakened his power yet! I wonder if he doesn't have it at all?" Davis brought up as he smirked at Kappei. To his surprise, he smirked back. "Witness it everyone."
In front of the class, Kappei ignited fire on his arms and shot a fireball hitting the wooden dummy as it began burning away. Next, he created water and formed a few orbs tossing them onto the burning dummy putting out the fire. Then, he charged up some lightning bolts and fired one at the dummy blowing it into pieces and finally, he created a small whirlwind on the palm of his hand and it grows bigger until he sent it whirling onto the floor as the wooden pieces were sucked into it and he ended up cancelling the whirling.
Everyone's mouth dropped open at the awakened power as some started commenting randomly.
"How is this possible?!"
"Incredible! He's OP!"
"Wow! We got ourselves a powerhouse!"
"More like a secret weapon or an ace up our sleeve! Who knows?"
Even Davis for once was impressed. "Mate, it seems you've proven me wrong. For now."
"It's up to you." Kappei replied humbly and the next thing it happened, "Hey mates! Who nominates this sky blue dude to be our class representative? Because I do!"
"Same thing!" said Avitus.
"Count me in!" Colette supported.
"My vote's for Kap!" said Jeong and already, everyone agreed to this. "But what about the vice class representative?" Emma asked.
"We're looking at her now." said Vega.
"Agreed." Maeve supported her and likewise, the rest of the students. "Me? But why me? I...uh...don't have what it takes to assist in the leadership or-"
"Because they trust in you." Kappei answered her. "And they know that we're close since we're from the same academy."
"I see...alright. I'll give it a shot." Emma agreed.
"Same. We don't know where to start but it's best to do our best and improve on our leadership skills!" Kappei declared as the class cheered for them. "Excellent. Now that it's official, there's more to it." Sensei Tatsu spoke to the class. "For the first time in the history of ninjala. Recent analysis reveals that Kappei is the first student to ever awaken an ancient-ranked awakened power."
"EHHHHHHH!?" Everyone was flabbergasted at this. "How is this possible? No one ever had this ranking until now?!" Ting Ting exclaimed.
"Yeah! It's so hard or difficult to achieve such rank!" Slick added.
"Well...do you guys remember the massive explosion that occurred last week?" Sensei Tatsu asked.
"I think I do. Because it sounded like an atomic bomb." said Harry.
"Just like yours when you take a dump in the toilet!" said Kolton as some of the boys laughed at Harry.
"Yes. There was this massive explosion but in truth, it was your classmate awakening his power." Sensei Tatsu revealed to the whole class. "Whatever happens, we must help each other and work together especially for him." All got the message and with this settled, "Now today there's no physical training. Instead, l will teach you something new but firstly, do you guys remember your ninja gum weapons that you used in the academies back then?" Sensei Tatsu asked and it hyped the whole class.
"I used the SK8 Hammer back then! Smashing fun!" Bull stated.
"I used the Matsuri Board for fighting and riding!" Archie stated.
"I used the Drill Beast as my main weapon!" Kappei stated.
"I used the Sushi Axe and it was fun!" Lucia stated.
"I used the Paw-xing Gloves and practiced boxing with it!" Slick stated.
"I used the IPPON Katana! My preferred weapon of choice!" Davis stated.
"I used the DJ Scratch to swing around during battle!" Emma stated.
"I used the Shinobi Spinner to fight and spin in style!" Vega stated.
"I used the Trick Ball but it's in the appearance of a soccer ball!" Cruz stated.
"I used the Ninja Yo-Yo and mastered the skills!" Anais stated.
"I used the Camu Camu Plate and victory is served to me!" Kurt stated.
Sensei Tatsu smiled at this as everyone talked with one another about their times in their respective academies. After that, they settled down. "I'm pleased to see you all have good memories back then. Alright, the ninja gum weapons you used can be considered child's play. The real deal here in Advanced WNA High is this!" He opened a crate and took out a katana with it's sheath. "This is the main weapon for the shinobis and kunoichis. The katana consist of 4 components. The handle or hilt to grip your weapon, the crossguard to connect the parts, the blade forged and sharpened to slice anything with lethal force and the sheath to keep the weapon."
Everyone paid attention as Sensei Tatsu drew out the katana and performed a bit of swordplay swinging the weapon around. "In the past, we have to memorize 32 components of the katana. Now, they cut it down to 4 to enable us to understand the weapon better."
"How astonishing..." Yamikage thought.
"Good they made it easy for us..." Dedrick thought and for some reason, Mikelus is chewing gum during class because Vega just started handing out chewing gum to her classmates in secret.
"Besides the katana, ninjas also must have a secondary weapon equipped with them during missions and battles." Sensei Tatsu then opened a few more crates. "Inside are nunchuks, sais, kodachis, kamas, tantos, kunais, shurikens, rope darts, chain sickles, chakrams, chain whips, tonfas, jittes, wakizashis and many more."
"That's a lot of real weapons!" Avitus exclaimed as Marcel took a nunchuk and swung a bit when, "PAK!"
"OW! You thwacked me on the body you fool!" Joey exclaimed.
"My bad." Marcel apologized and placed the nunchuks back. "Now next thing, I will explain more about other weapons." Sensei Tatsu then begun more theory lessons for the rest of the time and with the remaining crates opened until some of the students are this close to dozing off.
"Through our teacher, the first thing we'll do is practice using wooden katanas called bokkens for our sword fight training ..." Kappei thought as he stifled a yawn while trying to pay attention.
So after ninja class...
"I never thought the whole class nominated us to be representatives!" said Kappei as he fixed his locker.
"I know right? It appears they can trust us to lead them. Though our leadership qualities are still limited." said Emma as she listened to her music while fixing her locker.
Just then, "Excuse me, are you Kappei?" They turned to see, "It's the Student Council President, Coral Grayman!" Emma thought as she noticed Kappei staring at her dreamily. "She knows my name..."
"Ah so you're the one! Heard about the rumours that you're the first to awaken an ancient-ranked awakened power!" Coral spoke up. "Say, you wanna hang out with me and my friends? We really should talk."
"Yeah! I love to!" Kappei then walked with her and it shocked Emma making her feel uneasy. "This is gonna take a while..." She thought as she fixed her locker and left.
Soon enough, they reached the cafeteria and nearby, there are 6 other students around Coral's grade all seated and waiting. 3 boys and 3 girls as they sat with them. "Heh. So this is the one with ancient awakened power huh?" The boy who appears to be lanky spoke first. "This better be worth it Coral." The other boy who's somewhat overweight and is eating a hotdog spoke next.
"Don't worry about it." Coral replied as they sat with them. "These are my friends. Lasher is the lanky one, Speedster is the one eating the hotdog, Dennis is the one reading some book about magic and Peggy, Jannie and Opal are members of the cheerleading squad."
"Hi guys. I'm Kappei and nice to meet you." He greeted them as they nodded at him. "So tell me Kappei, is it true that you have that power?" Jannie asked while filing her nails.
"Prove it to them and don't sweat it a lot." Coral encouraged him and even winked at him. Kappei smiled from the wink so he confidently made his moves. "Whoa...can you use your fire to heat up some food?" Speedster asked
"Probably." He replied as he zipped off and returned with another hotdog. "Yeah I have something called, Dashing Speed and my treat for you."
"Same for me." Lasher then extruded out his right arm and soon enough, he had a donut as he handed it Kappei. "Extrusion"
"Nice powers." Kappei exclaimed as he ate the snacks. "What about the rest of you?"
"I have something called Intense Magic because I can shoot out magic blasts and bolts." Dennis stated with some British accent.
"I'm known to use Clone Army. I can create 9 clones of myself and thus, there's 10 of us." Peggy then clapped her hands and 9 clones of hers emerged out. "What's up!" All of them greeted Kappei.
"So cool!" He exclaimed as Jannie went next. "I can summon whips at will so I call my power, Whip Summon." She then summoned one revealing a cat o' nine tails
"And I can turn myself invisible." Opal then vanished and then, appeared behind Kappei. "Invisibility."
"Wow! It seems like some of you guys have either unique ot legendary ranked powers!" Kappei exclaimed as he looked at Coral. "What about you?"
"I'll show you now." She took out a smartphone and smashed it on the table! "Are you kidding me? That might cost ten of thousands of credits!" He exclaimed.
"Observe." Coral got her hands ready and sparks came out and instantly patched the phone back. "Legendary..." He described as, "You're so lucky to be invited by Coral. You see, our clique is full of students with only awakened powers that are ranked unique and above." Peggy stated.
"In other words, we're the most popular clique ever and you're the first freshman for this year to be offered a membership to join us." said Dennis.
"Really? Wow...I didn't expect the winds of change..." Kappei exclaimed.
"No need to worry, we're all fair and square. For you're free to hang out with us anytime! It doesn't need to be everyday." Coral assured to him. He was relived as they continued hanging out and chatting with one another.
Outside the school...
"Well, did you enjoy yourself hanging out with us?" Coral asked.
"I sure did!" Kappei replied.
"Great! Like I said just now, you are free to hang out with us anytime! You can also sit with us during lunch or go out with us after school and on the weekends if you feel like it!" She replied with a thumbs up. "Well, see you again."
"Yeah...see you...again..." Kappei smiled brightly as he watched her leave for the dorms. "Something tells me that I've just earned some popularity points! Man, what an awesome day I had!" He thought to himself and headed back to the dorms.
It appears Kappei is starting to earn some popularity points especially when his ancient ranked awakened power is being known to the seniors like Coral and her friends. Even so, he discovered something calm and unusual when he's feeling the flow with water.
There are new ninja weapons to be utilized soon in training and preparation for the tournament next term.
However, Emma felt worried when the SCP took a bold interest in her crush. Will she get the chance to tell him? Time will tell...

Profile
A student of Class 1-A, Maeve is nice, calm, kind and only takes on the bad guys when necessary or if there are no other options. Her family owns a ski resort in Switzerland and there, she was raised and trained in the ninja arts and the cold never bothered her. Besides, she's into skiing, cooking and has a sweet tooth for cakes.
Also, she attended the academy in her home country before being enrolled to USK for the high school journey.
Awakened Power: Mirror Image
Maeve's awakened power enables her to create mirror images from organic or inorganic targets even herself. By touching her target, a mirror image identical to it will phase out and she can create up to 3 of them and they remain present until they vanish from being attacked or fading away at her will.
This comes in handy to confuse attackers trying to attack the real target when there are 4 copies of the same thing but only one is real and the rest are illusions. It also enables her to escape attacks and the images can do all sorts of actions to confuse the enemy.
