The sequel to Warrior Ethos, this is a retelling of ME2. It has ManShep x Tali and FemShep x Garrus, and is designed to be very realistic, etc. A little bit AU. You don't need to read the first story, but it helps. It uses Calinstel's ideas on the quarian culture. Focuses more on the relationships and less on the missions. Given her reputation, her subsequent, forced "ascension" into Reaperhood leaves her becoming a key part of the new Reaper's mind. The reapers are gone. The council, and its citizens, are in limbo as they rebuild, but a new power grows in the terminus. And they aren't afraid of the council and its armies. Saren's gone. Sovereign's gone. The Reaper invasion has been stopped, and the Galaxy's safe… for now, at least. So, it looks like it's back to normal - whatever THAT was - and C SEC for Garrus Vakarian. My long overdue third installment is here. So, hooray! Shepard Doo and the gang are on a mission to save the galaxy from Saren and the Reapers.

AU: Zaire Shepard has been on Earth to prevent a war between the Alliance and the Batarians for 5 months, since then she has had no contact with the outside world, or so the Alliance believes. Shepard has been coordinating Cerberus Ops. changing Citadel politics with the Shadow Broker and building an Army on Omega. Now the Batarians have gone dark and Shepard needs to leave.

Garrus liked to think that his assignment on the Normandy wasn't just something that happened without reason. The spirits had aligned things the right way for him; just as his job at C-Sec ended, he made eye contact with a woman who looked like she knew exactly what she was doing. The most interesting thing about her that he noticed was, oddly enough, her red lips.

In this story we see the old world meet the new thanks to a civil war, shady government dealings, and political prisoners. The story of "In the Presence of Ghosts" focuses on the journey of a jaded old soldier who goes from political prisoner to one of Commander Shepard's most trusted friends and ally. The story touches on hopefully just about everything. All rights to Bioware etc.

Being an Ardat Yakshi DNA carrier in a universe that doesn't want you, where you are being constantly hunted, is a death sentence. Ayla can't find a safe harbor anywhere, and she is stuck with a guard that doesn't like her. Life is incredibly difficult. Disclaimer: I don't own Mass Effect, Bioware does, lucky them!
