Mirage could go back to prison. He doesn't need to become Thundercracker's concubine or share quarters with Starscream and Skywarp as a decorative kept-mech. He doesn't have to do a Primus-damned thing to help the Seekers save the life of their sparkling. He doesn't have to, but he will.

In this story, we take a new direction in which Optimus Prime's Lieutenant Commander, some of the other transformatted humans, and the Nightowl Trines rely on their similarly different origins, including Smokeedge being a Cybertronian first, a Quadwal Cluster human second, and back again, to ensure that the Autobots make smarter choices.
