Chapter 8: The Six

"So you can see fine in the dark?"

Pale yellow light lit up the cave in all directions, the source being a small ball of energy in Turles hand. The torches of blue flames went all the way down the length of the tunnel, but apparently, that light was still too dim for Turles. He'd created his own light source pretty quickly upon entering.

These cave tunnels were much larger than the one that Leeku and I took back from Atross mountain. They were easily four or five times my height, and even more so wide, so if we got attacked I knew that we'd have space to fight and not cramp each other.

"Yeah, I grew up on a very dark planet, so I got used to it," I answered him.

"That must be pretty useful," He said.

"Yeah, I can hunt at night, and in places that are super dark to others, with no problem," I said. "Like my cave. It's pitch dark in there."

"Can she see in the dark too?" Turles asked, looking down at Undecided. She replied for herself, shaking her head.

"She probably uses her other senses to know where I am," I informed him. "When you're in darkness, improving your other senses is easier."

"That's true," Turles agreed. "So, what made you leave Omato village?"

"What do you mean?" I asked him, confused.

"Well, the people in Omato Village specialize in weapons. It's not common to see Saiyans casually going around with weapons unless they're from Omato Village," He explained to me. "Or at least trained there for a while."

"Oh, well, to be honest, I wouldn't say that I specialize in a sword," I said honestly. "I just made it, and thought that it couldn't be too difficult to use, you know? It's just swinging it around, and stabbing stuff."

Turles looked at me with an amused expression, before chuckling. "Nevermind, the people in Omato Village would destroy you in a sword fight."

"I mean, I'm not bad at using it," I countered quickly. "I killed a Wyvern with it yesterday."

I decided to leave out the fact that I'd actually abandoned the sword in favor of finishing it with my bare hands. It didn't matter, anyway, because the look that he gave me showed that he didn't believe me anyway.

"Yeah, now that's straight bullshit," He laughed to himself. "There hasn't been a Wyvern on this mountain in more than 20 years."

"Yeah, you're probably right," I said. "It followed me back from Atross mountain and I killed it on the way back."

"Mhmm, yeah right," He hummed to himself. I could tell that he still didn't believe me, and I half wanted to pull out the Golden Egg to show him, but that was right when I saw several red dots heading our way on my small map.

"We have company," I told Turles. He clenched his fists and his expression hardened in an instant.

The Meta-Wolves didn't seem to know that we were there yet, because when they saw us both, they paused for a second and scanned us. Their eyes roamed over Turles, before landing on me. All of them froze with wide eyes for a second or two, before they began snarling violently.

There were about five of them, all cubs. I bent my legs, ready to spring into action, but before I could, Turles flattened his hand out towards them, and the yellow ball of energy flew at them, before exploding once it reached their center.

The explosion seemed contained somehow, shaking the tunnel around us in the slightest. However, the Meta-Wolves who were caught in the explosion were thrown so violently into the surrounding walls that their bodies imploded and painted everything in blood.

"Wow…" The words left my mouth before I could even think to stop it, not that I would have if I'd noticed.

"You can't use your Ki like that?" Turles asked, clearly a little confused.

"Not really?" I hesitated. "I can shoot energy out of my mouth, and I only learned about using it in other ways yesterday."

He frowned slightly, before going silent for a few seconds. When he did speak again, he said, "Are you sure that you want to keep going with me? The cubs aren't very strong, but the further we get in, the stronger that they're going to get."

The words felt like a slap in the face. It took me a few seconds to wade through the shock and budding anger, before replying, "Are you calling me weak?"

"No," Turles said quickly. "You could be the strongest person on Planet Plant, but if you don't know how to properly control your Ki, you won't be able to defend yourself against things that can, let alone hurt them. Most of the cubs and teen wolves don't know how to use Ki yet, but all of the adults do."

My anger simmered away once he began to explain himself. Leeku said the same thing too, but that didn't make it any less frustrating. While earlier in the day I was content with learning how to control it slowly, now I wanted to figure it out as soon as possible.

That answered my question from earlier neatly. I'm not strong enough to confront my family just yet. Until I can control my energy, I'll always be too weak.

"Alright," I replied, before continuing to walk down the tunnel. "Well, I'm not backing out now. I told you that I'd come with you, so I'm not leaving until we find your brother."

I couldn't see his reaction, him being behind me, but I did hear his slight dry chuckle. Footsteps approached me quickly, and Turles was walking beside me again.

"I like you," He said simply. Looking at him, I noticed a small smile on his face when he said, "Alright, here's the plan. I'll take out any of the adults that come along, and you and Undecided take out the smaller ones. Deal?"

"That sounds alright."

It wasn't long before we came across our first branch. Either we could keep going straight, or we could go right. On my minimap, I could see that going right would lead us to a cavern, where several red dots were waiting. I wasn't entirely sure what color Turles' brother would come up, so there was a possibility that he was in there.

"Let's both go this way," I said as I turned right and started down the slightly tighter tunnel. "Expect some trouble."

Turles nodded his head while following next to me. "How do you know? Can you hear them?"

"Actually, yes," I answered truthfully. They weren't particularly loud, but even at a distance, I could still hear the clicking of their claws against the ground. As we got closer, I began to bear the panting of their breaths. I didn't hear Saiyan breathing though, but at that point, my desire to prove myself was too strong to turn back now.

It took a minute or two to reach the cavern, and when we did, six meta-wolves turned their head to face us. Two were adolescents, and the rest were cubs. This time, when they flinched, I didn't waste my opportunity.

Dashing at the closest adolescent wolf, I took advantage of its shocked state and swung my sword at its leg. Teeth dug easily through its armored fur, through flesh and blood until I reached a bone. Violently jerking my sword in the opposite direction, the weapon tore its way out of the limb, sawing off the majority of it on the way out.

The meta-wolf fell to the ground howling in pain, with its health already dangerously low. Before I could finish it off, however, two cubs jumped at me from my front. Compared to when I first arrived on the planet, they felt much slower. Lifting my arm up to block their attack was effortless, and I grinned wildly when their claws collided with my armored sleeve but did no damage at all.

One of the meta-wolves bounces off of my forearm and behind me, while the other jumped backward, and right in my path. I took the opportunity presented to me and threw my sword at it head-on. The spinning blade of metal teeth and bone hit the cub right in the center of its forehead, where its armor was the least present. It hit the ground like a ton of rocks, and I didn't need a critical hit notification to know that it was dead.

Strangely enough, though, I didn't get a notification for any experience. I ignored that in favor of turning around just in time to react to the same cub that had jumped behind me just seconds ago, who was coming in for another attack aimed at my head. I stepped to the left, its claws missed my cheek by an inch, before catching it by its tail and throwing it straight up into the air.

Once it was in the air, I released a mouth beam that completely obliterated it. Chunky pieces of its flesh rained down across the cavern, painting the walls in steaming blood.

The downed adolescent wolf groaned from a few feet away, trying to stand on its remaining three feet. I flew over to my sword, yanking it out of the skull of the dead cub, before walking over and finishing the adolescent off with a quick slice that caused its gut to spill out. This time I got some experience points, but not as much as I'd expected.

Now, free from being attacked, I looked over to watch Undecided fight. I was unsurprised to find that both of the cubs were dead, their bodies crumpled next to a wall. The third wolf, which was the second adolescent, stood in one spot while Undecided ran around it so fast that it didn't know where to attack.

In the blink of an eye, Undecided dashed in, slashing the other Wolf across the face and blinding it. It howled in pain, but that pain was quickly shut up by Undecided smacking it to the ground with her rough tail. Once it was on the floor, Undecided went for the kill, biting down on its throat and tearing it out.

The room was silent for a solid few seconds before Turles whistled and came over to me.

"That was ruthless dude!" He said, a smirk on his face. An odd, positive feeling bubbled up inside me. It was the first compliment from someone other than Leeku, and I couldn't stop the grin that formed from that positive emotion.

"You didn't tell me that Undecided knew how to use the Ki in her body!" Turles added once she'd walked over to us and spat out her opponent's throat. "She's about the size of the teen wolves, so I thought that she wouldn't be able to use it yet."

"I didn't know that she could do it either until today. I'm not entirely sure how she managed to pick it up so quickly, really," I said, looking down at her, a little jealous. "But she's smarter than the other wolves, so maybe that's why."

"That might be it," Turles agreed, before gesturing for us to walk with him back to the main tunnel. "It could also be because most animals have some sort of an instinct and just know how to do stuff. Maybe once any Meta-Wolf unlocks their Ki, they automatically know how to filter it through their body properly, without being taught it."

"Hm," I hummed as we exited the cavern and went back into the tunnel. "I wish I had that instinct."

"Tell me about it. It took me a year to properly master filtering my body with energy," Turles revealed, much to my dismay.

"A year?" I asked in shock. "It's going to take me a year?"

"Not necessarily," He said. "I was a kid when I started, so probably not."

"Hopefully not," I said under my breath.

When we got back to the main tunnel, I noticed that Undecided wasn't with us. When she had separated, I wasn't sure, but my small map said that she was coming towards me quickly from the way that we came. I wasn't sure why she stayed behind for so long, but it didn't really matter, so I forgot about it once she caught up.

From there on, we encountered a few more caverns like the first. Eventually, Turtles got bored of waiting and we started to take turns clearing out each area. It was fun. Not in the, being victories against all odds kind of way, but still fun.

We cleared out about 10 more before we heard a childish scream of delight, and we rushed to it.

It led us right to another cavern, but this one was clearly different. It was much larger than the rest, and there were plenty more wolves walking around. About 25 in total, not including the ones that were already dead. Surprisingly, the number of Meta-Wolves wasn't the most shocking thing in there. It was the thing flying around.

A small Saiyan kid was flying between them, expertly dodging their scratched and bites while simultaneously hitting them every so often. A smile that stretched from ear-to-ear was on his face and his childish giggling filled the cavern with sound. They couldn't touch him as much as they tried, and once I caught a proper look at him, I knew why.

Level 17

Kakarot

Race - Saiyan

Gender - Male

Age - 7

Reputation - Neutral

HP - 18,275

Ki - 10,200

Power Level - 1,275

Kakarot is the last son of Bardock and Gine, and the youngest of three brothers. There isn't much that he cares about other than his family, fighting, and food.

As of lately, he's been running out of fun things to do, so he thought that picking a fight with some Meta-Wolves would be fun.

He is currently having a blast, although he's way more tired than he'd like to admit.

He's that strong at such a young age? I stared at the kid as he zoomed around the room, now resorting to throwing energy balls down at the wolves, killing some and greatly annoying the ones who'd dodged in time.

That was when I noticed that the wolves that he was killing varied in levels, and some of them were higher than the ones that Turles, Undecided and I had been killing on the way here. The highest ones that I could see were level 10, and they were much larger than any that I'd seen so far. Out of the sides of their closed mouths, steam billowed out without end.

"And that's my suicidal little brother, Kakarot," Turles grumbled under his breath, motioning to the boy.

"He looks like he's handling himself pretty well," I noted as we both watched.

"He always does, until he doesn't," Turles said. "Like right now, he doesn't realize how tired he is, or even that the biggest one is hiding and waiting for him to run out of energy before it picks him out of the air."

"The biggest one?" I asked, having thought that the strongest one was out in the open. "Wher- Oh…"

That was when I saw it.

Level 15

Prince

Nymerio

Race - Meta-Wolf

Gender - Male

Age - 10 Years

Reputation - Neutral

HP - 7680

Ki - 9600

Power Level - 960

Nymerio is one of the six children of the Queen, and therefore a Prince of the pack on Coronett mountain. He is the youngest, and laziest of his siblings, preferring not to fight if it isn't necessary.

Engaging in combat with it will lead to serious consequences.

He is currently waiting for his prey to exhaust itself so that he can barbecue and eat it.

It crept in the deepest shadows of the room, and I could imagine that from a normal eye, it would almost be invisible cloaked in said darkness. Its body was at least twice as big as the level ten wolves, and its fur looked like a blanket of swords. Most captivating was its face, which didn't have the same violent appearance as the others. It was completely calm, and its eyes never left Kakarot for a second.

I started to move to enter the cavern but was stopped by a hand grabbing my arm and pulling me back. Another hand grabbed Undecide's tail tightly, stopping her from moving forward too. On her face, a look of pure anger flared, and lips peeled back so far that all of her teeth were on full display. She wasn't looking at the person holding her though, but rather at the Prince.

"Why are you stopping us?" I asked. "Same plan as before should work here too."

"Not exactly," Turles warned me. "That right there looks like a leader of the pack. A Prince. We can't kill it."

"Why not?" I asked, now looking between Turles and the large Meta-Wolf. "It looks killable."

"No, we obviously can kill it, easily in fact. But it would be a bad idea," Turles began to explain. "The Queen doesn't care too much about most of the pack, but she doesn't take it lightly when one of her main children are killed. She'd sent the entire pack after us, including all of the royalty."

"Okay, I can see the problem with that," I said slowly. Even despite the logic, the idea excited me. However, I also knew that I wasn't ready, considering that I couldn't control my energy properly yet. Once I could do that, though…

Turles let go of me and I took a step back. Undecided took several step-backs too, although the ferocious look on her face never left. "So what are we going to do?"

"It's better that we're in and out. I'll grab Kakarot, and we head back," Turles presented the plan simply. "If any of them follow us, we'll kill them. And if the Prince follows us, make sure that you don't attack it."

"Alright, let's do it."

It took Turles less than five seconds before he was next to me again and flying down the tunnel back to the entrance. I was right next to him, and Kakarot was whining in Turles arm.

"Let go of me Turles! I was having fun with those wolves!" The little ball of energy growled loudly as he kicked and punched at Turles, who ignored him outright. I immediately noticed that Kakarot was literally a carbon copy of Bardock, even more so than Turles.

"Do you guys all look the same?" I had to ask as we escaped. Kakarot finally seemed to notice me, his eyes going wide in interest.

"You'd think so. My dad just has really strong genes," Turles responded. "Raditz managed to get some of mom's genes, so he looks a little different."

"Who are you?" Kakarot asked me. All of his violent nature melted away into childish curiosity.

"I'm Sprout."

"I'm Kakarot," He continued to stare at me. "Wanna fight?"

"No, Kakarot, he doesn't want to fight!" Turles grumbled, clearly annoyed. "You can't just think about fighting all the time, idiot!"

"Why not?" Kakarot pouted. "Come on! Why else are you here if you don't want to fight?!"

"We did plenty of fighting on the way to get you. Besides, I'm getting a little tired too," I said. "But I'll fight you one day, alright?"

"Deal!" He beamed immediately, a large grin on his face. Turles shook his head and sighed, and I simply smiled.

None of them pursued us, but when we got to the exit of the cave, a piercing howl called out from deep inside of the cave. My hair stood up on edge, and my body trembled. I looked back through the tunnel, and although I couldn't see her, I could almost feel her presence. She called me.

I'll be back. I promised myself. A second later, the howl came to a pause, and we were all left in silence.

Turles threw Kakarot off of him, but the smaller boy caught himself in midair and giggled, before flying off, going back to the top of the mountain.

"He's pretty strong for such a little kid," I said as we both watched him disappear over the flat surface of the mountain.

"Yup, definitely stronger than I was when I was seven," Turles sighed. "Dad thinks that he's going to be a super-elite by the time he's an adult."

"You don't agree?" I asked, curious.

"I think he's going to get himself killed before that point," Turles said, a frown on his face. "His love of fighting is extreme, and he doesn't care if what he's fighting is much stronger than him. Somehow, he's survived so far, and that's only encouraged him to keep going. The Zenkai's don't help either."

"Zenkai?"

"You know that thing when you heal after being in a hard fight and you're stronger than before once you heal? Only Saiyans get them, and we call it a Zenkai," He told me. "It's also what makes us stronger as we grow up because our body is in constant strain. The boosts are small, until puberty, then the boosts get bigger and are at random until we're fully grown."

"Hm… Alright," I said slowly. A headache began to form because, the more that I thought about it, the more I was certain that I didn't get these Zenkais.

All my life, I was the same strength. That was only confirmed when I met my dad, who said that I hadn't increased my strength much at all since I was sent away. Healing myself after my recent fights hadn't changed my power level at all. My recent increases in strength weren't from healing from being hurt, either, it was from leveling up and stat points.

"Do all Saiyans get them?" I asked after a few moments of thinking.

"All full-blooded ones do," Turles revealed. "The less Saiyan blood you have in you, the bigger the chance that you won't get them, though."

"Are there a lot of half-blooded Saiyans on this planet?"

"Oh yeah, or so my Dad says," Turles said. "Saiyans in the past were known to go to different planets and look for strong women to take back to our original planet. People still do it nowadays."

"What does bringing back powerful women to the planet have to do with half-bloods?" I raised an eyebrow, confused.

Turtle's face turned a shade of pink, and he stuttered out his response, "W-Well, uh… You know what, I'd better get back home. I have some chores to do and my Mom's going to freak out if I don't get back and do them."

"Uh, okay?" I said, eyebrow still raised but now due to his weird behavior. "By the way, you kind of owe me one, and I think I know what I want you to help me with."

Turles's face slowly shifted back to its normal ashy color, and he said, "What's that?"

"Controlling my Ki," I told him. He seemed to think about it for a few seconds, before shrugging his shoulders.

"I mean, sure. I had to teach Kakarot and Raditz, so I'm a decent teacher," Turles hummed, with a hand on his chin.

"Alright, when can we start?"

"Well, I have some things to do today, but we can start tomorrow," He crossed his arms over his chest while he spoke. "It'd have to be in the morning, though. Most of my chores are later in the day, so that's the only time I have for myself."

"Sounds like a plan," I said, glad that he accepted my idea. In any case, if he had refused, I could have asked Leeku. At the same time, though, Turles was much stronger than Leeku, so he was probably a better teacher.

"Where can I find you?" He asked.

Considering that my cave would probably be hard to find for someone who'd never been there before, I said, "You can find me at the big lake that's nearer to the base. Actually, I can probably see it from here… Yep, there it is."

You could barely see it, consider how high up we were, but a small splash of blue surrounded by trees was there. When I pointed it out, Turles nodded his head and stared at it, probably committing it to memory.

"Alright, I'll be off then," I turned to fly off, but stopped halfway when I saw Turles extend his fist towards me. I stared at it for a few awkward seconds, not sure what it meant, or if he was trying to fight me.

"It's something I do with my brothers," He explained. "It's a sign of friendship."

"Friendship?" I asked, having never heard the word before.

"A friend is someone who you have fun with and enjoy hanging out with," He clarified, fist still raised. "I don't have any myself, apart from my family, but today was one of the most fun days that I've had in a long time. I think we can be friends, right?"

Today was fun. I thought about it, realizing that spending more time with Turles would inevitably lead to more fun, just like swimming with Leeku led to stealing the Golden Egg. I replied after a second or two, saying, "Definitely."

Turles's smile was short, but in that slightest moment, I saw great joy. It was the first genuine one since I'd met him. Not a smirk, or a grin after a particularly gruesome kill, but a smile; which prompted me to do the same.

I extended my fist to meet his and they bumped, before parting quickly. And with that, I said goodbye to Turles, him flying up to his home and Undecided and I going down to ours.

Tired from the day's events, I lay down and stare up into the roof of the cave. My heart pounded due to the excitement of the day, and for what was to come.

I was stronger than before, that was certain, but the way that Turles tore through the wolves in the cave with extreme ease, as if it was as natural as walking… That's the power that I desired. That was what I needed.

Speaking of powers, I just completed another mission and got no experience for it?

Thankfully, when I thought about it for longer than a glancing thought, a bunch of words popped up and answered my question.

Claim Rewards?

Wow, missions really seem like a good way to gain experience. I get the experience of doing what it says, and even more by doing extra things. I wasted no time in 'claiming my rewards', and the experience points came flooding in. I'd earned a decent amount of EXP from the Meta-Wolves I'd killed during the mission, even if the cubs didn't count for anything anymore, so even before accepting the experience, I was close to leveling up. Adding that on top though…

Level Up X2

12 Stat Points Awarded!

Stat Sheet

HP: 2800

KI: 5400

Strength: 34 +

Endurance: 10 +

Charisma: 2 +

Intelligence: 10 [Basic] +

Available Stat Points: 12

Power Level: 600

I immediately moved to apply my points directly to strength and endurance but was stopped by Undecided slapping my arm with her tail. With my hand paused in front of the strength stat, I turned to her, who glared at me, and then down at my stats.

"What?" I asked. It was also then that I realized that she could see in the dark. Maybe not as well as me, seeing as my superior sight was formed by years of adjustment, but it was enough to at least see me well. She didn't look nearly as confused as the first few times that she followed me in here. When did that happen?

She dipped her nose towards my strength stat again, before shaking her head. Understanding, I said, "You don't want me to put more points into my strength stat?"

She nodded her head, before again dipping her head and pointing at the endurance and intelligence stat. She gave more emphasis on the intelligence stat, even attempting to click the plus sign with the tip of her nose. A little annoyed, I pushed her away and said, "I'm smart enough already. What I need is strength and maybe a little bit of endurance."

I went to click on my points but was stopped by her powerful jaws clamping onto my arm and stopping me. I tried to pull it out, but the harder that I tried, the stronger her grip became. I could tell immediately that she wasn't trying to hurt me, simply trying to stop me from pressing the plus to increase my strength further.

"I can understand endurance, but what's so important about intelligence?" I asked, genuinely curious, albeit a little annoyed.

She seemed to be thinking for a few seconds, her eyes staring off into the distance before flashing. Her sheet appeared in front of her. She clearly got to level up twice too, because she had 12 attribute points to add. Without hesitation, she added five points to her intelligence stat, bringing it up to 20.

I noticed the change within a second. Something inside of her changed, just as the [Basic] next to her intelligence changed to [Average]. She let go of my arm a moment later, and I stared at her in anticipation.

She opened her mouth, and a strange wheezing sound came out. However, when she closed it and tried again, the next thing that came out of her mouth shocked me greatly.

"It's nice to finally be able to speak with you, Sprout," Undecided had a voice that was as calm as a lake, and delightful to hear. I hadn't expected to ever hear her speak. The only creature that I'd ever heard speak was Raphalos and that Wyvern that Leeku had fought, so I didn't even think it was a possibility. I stared at her in shock, not sure what to even say.

"You seem surprised," She went on, as she sat down and looked up at me. "Meta-wolves all have the potential to speak, but we don't usually learn languages until we are much older. Cubs very rarely interact with Saiyans, so there is no need. In my case, once my intelligence stat reached 10, and the world opened up to me in ways that I never thought possible, I knew that I could, and needed to if I was to stay a good partner for you."

I remained speechless and wide-eyed. Eventually, I managed to ask, "The intelligence stat helped you to speak?"

"Not exactly," She said. "But it did speed up the process. If I hadn't been raising my intelligence stat since you gave me this strange power, it would have taken me many more months before I could even attempt speaking. Once I passed intelligence level 10, I could understand the language enough to communicate with you using body language, but I still couldn't speak. I'm sure if I'd tried to learn, I could have, but it would have taken much more time. Instead, getting my intelligence to 20 gave me the understanding I needed to speak well, immediately."

"That's… That's amazing…" I said slowly, still shocked.

"Now, do you see my point about putting more of your points into intelligence?" She asked, tilting her head at me. I frowned and looked back at my strength stat.

"I mean, it helped you to learn how to speak, but I already know how to speak, so I'll be fine," I told her. She shook her head at me and a long sigh left her mouth.

"You don't understand, so let me try to explain in another way," She began. "It didn't just help me to speak. It increased my ability to understand information and how to use it. Before I got to stat level 10, I was trapped and forced to follow my animal instincts. Eat, sleep, listen to Nymerio's orders, and then repeat."

"Wait, you know that big wolf from earlier?" I asked, referring to the prince that had been a few minutes away from having Kakarot for lunch.

Her eyes darkened and her next words were spoken with a flash of sharp teeth, "I do, but that's a story for another day."

"Okay," I said, not wanting to push her any further than that. "So, it helped you to break out of your instincts and think for yourself?"

"Yes. It gave me my own mind, and showed me that life was more than simply following orders, and then following the boy who'd brought me back from the dead," She looked me over, her eyes scanning me from head to toe. "In a nutshell, it helps you to get smarter, which you're lacking in."

"Hey, wait, I'm plenty sma-"

"Did you honestly think that my name was No Name? And then Undecided?" She asked. Her head tilted slightly to the other side and a small smile showed me that she was enjoying my confused expression.

"Isn't it?"

"No, Sprout," She chuckled. "It was because, as a cub, I wasn't given a name. So under my name, it had nothing to put down, so it put down that I had no name at all."

"What about Undecided?" I asked, eyebrows creased.

"It was because, with my newfound intelligence, I realized that I wanted a name, but I hadn't decided on one yet," She continued to laugh. "But because your intelligence stat is so low, you took what you saw and thought that it was literal."

I grumbled, my annoyance coming back at full force. "It isn't that low."

"Sprout, if it was one point lower, you'd be as smart as a toddler," She said. "It seems to increase you slowly, and then at certain points, like ten and twenty, rapidly increase your intelligence to a certain level."

"So my ship really did only teach me the basics. Just enough to not be a complete idiot?" I frowned.

"You're still smart in certain ways," She rubbed her head against my arm. "In combat, your intelligence shines. Like when you found this cave for the first time and killed the meta-wolf using the fact that it couldn't see in the dark. You have combative intelligence, likely due to the fact you've killed an entire planet, and therefore have a talent for killing. It isn't necessarily intelligence, moreso skill, and quick thinking."

"I think I liked you better when you didn't speak," I mumbled. "Now all you're doing is mocking me."

"It's not mockery, I'm simply trying to help," She said. "Your friend, Turles, is a smart one."

"How do you know?"

"Well, he didn't just jump into the fight when we came across Nymerio. He stopped himself, thought about the consequences of attacking a Meta-Wolf Prince, and also managed to stop us and convince us not to attack," She explained. "Meanwhile, you were ready to jump right in without even a second thought."

"You looked ready to go too," I crossed my arms over my chest as I spoke.

"I was. It was stupid of me, but I let my anger towards him blind me to the fact that I would have been easily killed," She admitted. After a few seconds, she shook her head and looked up, into my eyes. "Anyways, the point of all this is that the intelligence stat is important. It'll help you learn and understand things faster. You can't just ignore it forever."

"Alright, I see your point now," I sighed as I looked back down at my waiting sheet. "How about this? I'll raise it to fifteen now, and use the rest on endurance and strength, and then the next time that I level up, I'll use it to bring my intelligence to twenty. Sound alright to you?"

"Sounds great," She seemed satisfied. I applied my stats, five into intelligence, three into strength, and the last four on endurance.

"Hey, I have a few more questions before I fall asleep," I said, my mind slightly more active than before, even if I'd never admitted it.

"Yes?"

"How can you speak so well so quickly? I mean, when I was learning how to speak Saiyan, it took me more than a few seconds."

"Oh, well that's simple," She yawned. "The language that you think of as Saiyan is actually the Universal Language of the Universe. Most Meta-Wolves that aren't children speak it. One of the Six is very good with the language, and when I wasn't working for Nymerio, I was relaxing in her den. Even though I couldn't speak it at the time, listening to her constantly gave me a great understanding of the language, so when I could, it was easy."

"Alright," I said, the explanation more than good enough. "What should I call you now, then?"

"Luna," She said, after a moment of thought. "It is another name for the moon, which only comes around every 100 years on this planet."

"Why Luna?" I asked.

"Because I like it. Does there have to be another reason?" She asked. "Although, its rarity did play a part in my decision. Just like the moon is rare, so am I. I am a meta-wolf who has willingly separated from her pack to stay alongside a Saiyan, which has never happened before in Meta-Wolf history."

"Yeah, that does make sense. Luna it is," I said, testing out the name, before moving onto my final question. "Last question. Do you know what the charisma stat does?"

"No idea," She said as she lay her head against my leg. "It might be important later on, so maybe we should put some points into it."

"Maybe," I hummed, before laying my head back against the floor and closing my eyes. "Probably not though."

"I knew you'd say that."

Hope you enjoyed the chapter! Let me know what you thought. Could have done this in two chapters but because of what happened next, I decided to combine it into one.
