The Saiyan Gamer

The next morning, the sound of metal scraping across hard crystal woke me up. Groaning in annoyance, I turned to my side and glared at Luna through half-lidded eyes.

In front of her, a lot of Meta-Wolf fur and various body parts lay scattered. In her mouth, she had one particularly large piece and was dragging it across the ground towards her side of the cave. When she got there, she began to tear it apart, obviously intending to eat it.

"Does it bother you? Eating your own species?" I asked once I found my voice.

She turned to me with a piece of metallic fur in her mouth, before swallowing it and saying, "Growing up under Nymperio, I got used to it. He is the only Prince that is completely fine with cannibalizing and being one of his pack, I thought that it was normal too. That was until I got a little bit older and learned otherwise, but by then it was too late."

"Hm…" I hummed to myself. The idea was strange to me. Could I eat another Saiyan? The idea sent a strange shiver down my spine. Only if worst came to worst, I think.

"So you're going to go to the lake and wait for Turles?" She asked, bringing me back to the conversation.

I flipped onto my feet and cracked my neck to loosen up, "Yeah. Are you coming with me?"

"Not today," She replied, to my surprise.

"Why not?"

"Today, I just want to relax," She put extra emphasis on the word 'relax', before stretching out her entire body and laying on her side. Her entire meal was gone already, which didn't surprise me.

I was about to ask where all of the Meta-Wolf furs came from, but my brain caught my mouth before I could embarrass myself. She must have looted the bodies that we killed yesterday and hid them all away in the Safe Place. How I forgot to loot the bodies, I had no idea. They'd be useful just in case my sword broke. Maybe I'll have another look at that crafting list to see if there's anything else that I can make.

"Alright, well, I'll be back whenever we're done," I said as I stashed my armor in the Safe Place and headed out.

When I got to my lake, Turles wasn't there, so I pulled out a piece of the Giglamarina from the Safe Place and ate it, before going for a swim. The water was refreshing as always, and all was peaceful until a terrible feeling washed over me. Before the notification even reached me that I was being snuck up on, I knew what direction it was in and immediately flew up and out of the water.

A second later, a ball of scarlet red energy hit the surface of the lake where I'd just been, exploding so violently that fish started raining from the sky. Thankfully, I was well out of the way of the blast before it hit, because I wasn't sure if I would have survived being hit by something so powerful.

You Are Being Snuck Up On

The alert couldn't have come any sooner. I immediately flew to the left, avoiding a downward swipe from what looked like a long metal pole that was vibrating with green energy.

You Are Being Snuck Up On

You're joking right?! I cut off my flight, dropping from the sky a few meters, again narrowly avoiding a purple energy ball that flew above my head and into the sky above. I landed on the ground with a crack, my body fracturing the planet underneath me.

"Hmm, he dodged all of our attack Cauliflo, maybe he isn't as weak as they've been saying in town," A high-pitched voice said from above me. When I looked, I saw three Saiyans floating down from the sky towards me.

I watched them cautiously as they floated down until they touched down several feet in front of me. They all shimmered in different colored energies. The one in the middle had a smug smirk on his face, and the same scarlet energy that had blown up the lake lifted off of him like steam. His short hair was a light shade of brown, and his eyes were the same red as his energy. He looks like the leader. I bet he has the highest level.

Level 15

Cauliflo

Race - Saiyan

Gender - Male

Age - 14

Reputation - Disliked

HP - 18,000

Ki - 16,875

Power Level - 1,410

Coming from a family of Third Class Saiyans, Cauliflo has recently risen to the Second Class, the first in his family to ever do so. He has let the praise go to his head.

With his new power, he's become a bully to all those with a lower power level than him.

He is currently looking to steal the Golden Egg from you, at all costs.

How does he know about the egg?! I growled as I reached behind my back, pulling out my sword from the Safe Place and wielding it in front of me.

Cauliflo took a step forward, looking at my weapon with the same smug smirk on his face. "If you weren't such a weakling, I'd compliment your weapon. You probably can't even use it to its full potential, can you?"

"Wanna find out?" I asked, pointing the tip at him. While I did, I quickly scanned over the heads of the two other boys, only fast enough to see their names and levels.

Level 14

Picklu

Power Level: 1008

The one on the left was larger than the other two, and not in height. His head was shaved bald, and his clothes looked good. Very good. There wasn't a single hole in it, and it fit his round body well. He sneered at me with his hands clenched, ready to fight.

Level 13

Karo

Power Level: 1176

Karo stood on Cauliflo's right side with the metal pole in his hand, and the look on his face mimicked Cauliflo's exactly. I could tell that both of them viewed me as less, simply from that expression. Cauliflo's words only made my desire to punch them stronger.

"From what I heard, you wouldn't be worth my energy," Cauliflo said, dismissing me as if I was a piece of trash. "What we're really interested in is that egg I know you're hiding."

My face was set, my annoyance clearly showing, "I don't know what you're talking about."

"You are Sprout, aren't you?" He asked, taking another step forward. "The one who went to Avross mountain with Leeku?"

I didn't reply, but apparently, that was enough of an answer.

"She's hurt real bad; too hurt to have the egg with her. You were the only person with her, so it must be with you, right?" Cauliflo put a finger on his chin and tilted his head... "Honestly, I think it would have been better off with her. Considering you were so weak that even your father banished you."

My blood boiled as the grip on my sword tightened. Slowly, I said, "Well, I don't have it."

"I don't believe you," He scowled, his smirk disappearing in a flash. "That egg is worth more money than you could possibly imagine, and it doesn't belong in the hands of a weakling like you!"

"Call me weak again and you'll regret it," The words came out of my mouth in a low growl.

"I think he's challenging you, Cauliflo," Karo chuckled mockingly. "I think you should teach this third class his place."

Cauliflo seemed to consider it for a second, but then his scowl turned back into a smirk. With the same smug confidence as before, he said, "Like I said before, it would be a waste of my energy."

Slowly, they began to surround me, and I could do nothing but wait. My eyes bounced between each of them and I shifted my body rapidly, not sure which one of them would attack.

"We tried to be peaceful and give you a way out by just asking for it, but now you've given us no choice," He said.

"Yeah, like completely destroying my lake was peaceful," I shifted my sword again so that it would be easier to pierce whoever came at me.

"Well, peace comes in many forms," Cauliflo shrugged his shoulder. "Picklu!"

"Yes?" The bald one, Picklu, turned to Cauliflo.

"Take him out, but don't use ki," He ordered. "Remember, his power level is only 100."

I turned my sword to face him, just as he kicked off the ground in my direction. The energy around him vanished, but I wasn't taking any chances. I jumped to the side, avoiding his mad charge, and giving myself some timem to think.

They think that my power level is only 100, so he isn't going to try anything too strong. Hopefully, that also means that he won't expect a strong attack from me.

I dodged a few punches, before quickly swinging at Picklu's outstretched arm in an attempt to cut it off, or at least damage it. Instead, when my sword got close enough, his entire arm flashed purple, and he moved it in time. I scowled as my sword collided with the ground, embedding itself into it. Before I could retract it, he put his heavy foot on the back of it and pressed it even further in.

"Stupid Third Class," He giggled, like a child. "You can't hurt Picklu at all."

And with a single heavy crunch, my sword shattered into a million pieces.

Before I could process the grief of my newly made sword, Picklu grabbed me by my hair and threw me across the clearing in the direction of the completely dried-out lake. I caught myself before I could fall into the crater if only to see my attacker right in my face a moment later. I dodged his next few attacks, trying to think of my next move.

He wasn't using his ki to attack me, or else I'd probably be dead right now, but he was using it to taunt me and to dodge my attacks that are too close for comfort. So I'll have to hit him with an attack that he doesn't have time to dodge!

I grinned widely to myself, which didn't go unnoticed by my enemy, who grumbled. "What you smiling at?"

"You'll see," I smirked, before going through with my plan.

He tried to punch me again, but this time, I flew upwards, flipping in the air quickly and with purpose. The back of my heel was heading for the back of Picklu's head, but it wasn't just any kick. Orange energy filled my entire body at the very last moment, and internally, I roared the words that I hoped would end the fight.

Meteor Fist!

The attack hit with a resounding crack before his body was launched downwards and into one of the walls of the dried-out lake. On impact, it shook the entirety of the surrounding area, sending shock waves up the mountain and deep down into the caves below. Rocks and dust shot into the air, blinding me. I could hear the sound of rushing water and realized that cracking the ground had broken into a deeper layer, and that water would slowly begin pouring back into the hole.

I glanced down at my ki bar, wincing when I noticed that it was completely empty now. It was expected, with the lack of control and all, but I'd hoped that maybe it would let me off just this once. Even still, that attack did more damage than I'd ever hit anyone with. Using all of my ki, plus meteor fist, or rather meteor kick in this situation, would have completely obliterated anything that I had already come across, save Raphalos himself.

Which is why I was unpleasantly surprised when a pained scream reached my ears a few moments later, and the dust cleared with it, revealing Picklu picking himself up from out of the rocks. If he looked angry before, it didn't even compare to the glare that he gave me now.

His health dropped extremely low, almost down to nothing. Out of almost fourteen thousand, he was down to just below 2000. His nice-looking clothes were badly torn, and the back of his head had a small indent in it. I smiled at my handy work, before frowning when I saw that his ki was still completely full

"It looks like someone got his power level wrong…" I heard Karo say from somewhere above me, his voice amused, if not a little worried.

"Definitely…" Cauliflo said slowly in response. "But he's still weak. He only managed to get that hit in because Picklu wasn't taking the fight seriously."

"Hm, that's true," Karo said. "You're right, I don't think he has any more ki left. He used it all in that attack."

I scowled but didn't risk my eyes leaving my opponent. In the end, that didn't really matter, though, because I couldn't stop the attack that followed.

Picklu erupted into purple energy before he charged me. I tried to dodge by flying upwards, but it was as if he was an entirely different person. He caught me by the ankle, his grip so powerful that it broke immediately. A second later, we were speeding down to the bottom of the crater and my body slammed into the ground with so much force that it created a me-shaped hole.

Ouch… Looks like more than my ankle is broken… I wasn't giving up yet, though. Even with my ankle still in his grip, I tried to use my other leg to kick his elbow in, but the attack did absolutely nothing; not even a single drop in his health. It only made him angrier, and his next assault was worst than the first.

Dragging me out of the hole, he threw me across the length of the slowly refilling lake. My skin burned painfully against the ground until I skidded to a stop against a rock. The lake was filling up rapidly, which became painfully more obvious when a large hand grabbed the back of my head and shoved my face down into it.

Now, typically I could hold my breath for a long time, but that sharply changed when my arm was suddenly switched sharply in a direction that it was never meant to go, breaking it in multiple places at once. I tried not to scream, but the pain overwhelmed me, and the moment that I opened my mouth, I started to choke.

I wasn't sure how long it took, but my vision began to turn black. Am I actually going to die like this? I couldn't accept that. I won't!

My Ki had restored a little bit, but not by a lot. Still, it was enough for me the generate a blast of energy from my mouth downwards, evaporating all of the water in my lungs and underneath. The blast completely destroyed the ground underneath us, and with it gone, I tore away from Picklu and span around, my only working fist barely in the air.

Instead of a continuation of the fight, however, I heard something that hurt much more than a punch. They were laughing. I stood still frozen to the spot, as their laughter was joined by the laughter of Brussel's friends. My body felt cold as I was thrown back into that moment; confused, in pain, and feeling insignificant.

Feeling like nothing.

I could feel it. A well of power deep inside of me, crafted from my rage. A power that I could use to wipe the smug expression off of these losers' faces. I reached for it, clawed for it even, but when my fingers were just wrapping around its raw strength…

I hit the ground before I even knew that I had. One look at my health bar and I frowned, deeply. It was extremely low, dangerously so. All I could do now is sit down and watch.

"You looked so desperate to live," Cauliflo chuckled, his voice much closer than before. I looked up, my quiet anger blazing when I saw that he was standing right about me. "We weren't going to kill you, idiot. You're the only one who knows where the egg is. We just wanted to show you what happens when you say no to us."

I stared up at him, fury burning in every broken bone in my body. With a smirk, he asked, "So where is it?"

I spat a giant glob of blood onto his face, before smirking to myself. He didn't like that at all. Before he could hit me though, several things happened at once. I didn't catch most of it due to my consciousness slowly fading, but I do know that whoever saved me scared the group off with a ball of energy so big that in my dazed state, it looked like the sun.

And then I fell unconscious.

? POV

The dual suns shun brighter on that particular day, illuminating a vast area covered in trees that reached into the crimson skies. Sunlight filtered through the leaves, creating a beautiful shimmer on the ground that spread throughout the entire wooded area. The summer was quickly approaching.

A single figure sat down against a tree, head leaned back and eyes closed. A strange, but mesmerizing group of flowers surrounded him completely, looking as if they had grown around him and he was a part of the environment. Any person watching would think that he was fast asleep, but he was far from it.

Behind his closed eyes, he meditated with a solid frown on his face, because despite his peaceful surroundings, a sickening feeling of wrongness sat deep in his gut. It was a feeling that he hadn't felt in many years, since the start of the Great War. There was chaos coming. A dark age approached, and he was determined not to let this one destroy his family as the last did.

He tried to reach forward, straining to get a clear glimpse of the incoming turmoil, but no matter how hard he reached, his mind remained blank.

"Bardock," A gentle voice whispered into his ear, breaking his concentration. "Your breakfast is ready."

The meditating man, Bardock, opened his eyes slowly and his frown quickly morphed into a slight smile. Because the most beautiful woman that he could ever want was stood in front of him, a bright smile on her face and two plates of food in her hands. She placed one plate in front of him, before crossing her legs and sitting opposite him with her own.

"Thank you, my beautiful mate," He said. They shared a brief, yet tender kiss before beginning to eat.

Gine wasn't the greatest warrior, but there was no question in Bardock's mind that she was the best chef on the entire planet. He vacuumed the food into his mouth, finishing it in seconds. However, even with his taste buds singing and his stomach grateful, the dark feeling lurked.

"I've lived with you long enough to know that something is bothering you," Gine said, her voice sweet and comforting. She placed her hand over Bardock's and he overlaid it with his other hand.

He hesitated to tell her his fears but knew that she would drag it out of him one way or another. It had been bothering him for a while, and it showed her patient that she waited this long before confronting him about it. With a loud sigh, he decided to tell her what was worrying him.

"I feel darkness coming, Gine. Something huge that threatens to swallow our family… Maybe the entire planet," He said seriously, before sighing.

Her face was full of worry, and she tightened her grip around his hand. Immediately, he felt warmth fill his body from head to toe, and everything felt better if only temporary.

"Is this a vision?" She asked, a frown now present on her face. "You haven't had those in years, since th-"

"Since the moon fell," He finished her sentence, before dipping his head. "That was true, until about a month ago."

Gine recognized this as around the time when Bardock started to act strange. Nervously, she asked, "What did you see?"

"I saw a figure, standing in a void. In the palm of his right hand, he held Planet Plant, and in his left hand, a scale," He spoke softly, and if one was looking hard enough, they would have seen his eyes flash white for a fraction of a second. "On one side of the scale, the sins of the Saiyan race were piled up like a mountain, with not much going for it on the other side."

"So someone has judged the Saiyan race and found it guilty?" She asked; eyebrows knotted together.

"I got the impression that the decision wasn't final, but still…" He looked up into her eyes, worry hidden tight behind a serious expression. "Whoever this judge is, has some serious power."

"Enough power to back up his judgment, if it falls out of our favor?"

"Maybe…"

Gine bit her lip hard, knowing full well that Bardock's prophecies were never wrong. They were rare, but when they were spoken, it was as if it was already done. Run and fight them as hard as you could, they'd still come true regardless. Gine could only think of one solution.

"We need to buy a ship," She said, confidently. "A ship big enough for our entire family, so if things do get ugly, we can get off-world and wait out the storm."

"A ship that big would cost a fortune. Four pods could work though, as long as they're coordinated to land on the same planet," Bardock sighed, knowingly waiting for the argument that was to follow.

"Four?" She repeated. When the realization hit her, her eyes widened and flashed through several emotions; Disbelief, sadness, but most noticeably anger. "You can't seriously be thinking about leaving us to stay and fight!"

"I have a duty as a War Chief to defend the Saiyan race against any threat that comes against it," He said, his voice low but confident. "I can't just leave."

"You have a duty to your family first!" She hissed through her teeth.

Bardock prepared himself for a long argument, but moments later, Turles whizzed past them through the trees. At the speed he was going, the wind picked up and knocked them apart, while also uprooting some of the nearby trees and completely disintegrating the flowers.

"Mom! Dad! I need your help!" He shouted as flew off, likely towards their house, which was at the center of the mountain top. Both parents looked at each other, promising that the conversation was not over, before flying off to the house to find their son.

When they entered their house, Turles stood next to the table, pacing back and forth with his eyes glued to the door. On the table, someone lay groaning and turning. Blood dripped slowly from the corners of their mouth; most of the blood already all over his clothes.

Bardock recognized him immediately. The white hair was a dead give-away, the color being extremely rare among Saiyans.

"Oh, Yamoshi!" Gine gasped, quickly running off to get her medical supplies. Judging by the amount of blood, Sprout likely had several broken ribs, with at least one digging into something important.

"How'd you know this kid, Turles?" Bardock asked his oldest calmly.

"He helped me clear out a Meta-Wolf nest looking for Kakarot yesterday," Turles said. His eyes didn't leave Sprout, and he was clearly panicked at the state of the other boy. "I was going to try to teach him how to control his Ki properly, but when I got there, he was being beaten up by three other guys. I got them to back off, but…"

"You made it in time, don't worry," Bardock said, before, taking a step closer to Sprout and looking closer at his wounds. The least that he could do was stop the bleeding, which he did with a very hot, Ki-filled finger. "It doesn't look like they were trying to kill him immediately. If he didn't get any medical attention, he would probably have stayed alive for at least a few more hours.

"How can you stay so calm when someone's dying right in front of you?" Turles asked. Bardock's eyes flickered over to his son, who was starting to hyperventilate. He frowned to himself, seeing his son in a sight.

While he didn't agree with Vegeta and Omato's plan to grow an army of child soldiers at the expense of other planets throughout the universe, he did see that it had its benefits. At his age, Turles would have seen millions, if not billions of deaths, but here he was, shaken at the sight of a Saiyan in critical condition.

A part of him argued that Turles shouldn't have to condition himself to handle death, but he shut it up quickly. That was only in an ideal universe, and this universe was far from ideal. It would have been better that he got used to death at a young age so that it wouldn't affect him in a detrimental way later in his life.

Even still, there was no way that Bardock would condemn an entire planet to death simply so that his children were used to the metal strain of battle; even if the process would shape them into powerful warriors, especially in the case of his children.

No, Bardock was better than that. To show no mercy to your enemies was understandable, good even, but to destroy another planet's entire population simply to get stronger? It was barbaric, and a regression of the Saiyan culture and way of life.

"I'm used to it," Bardock replied, his frown disappearing after only a second. "If you feel overwhelmed, take deep breaths."

Turles immediately started working on his breathing, just as a spikey-haired teenager walked in through the front door with his head in a book, and a pen in his hand. Bardock grumbled at his middle child, who calmly walked straight past them, his mind so absorbed in his own research that he ignored the world around him.

"Raditz!" Bardock called to him, catching his attention.

"Yes?" The pre-teen said before turning and his eyes fell on Sprout. "Oh shit."

"Yes, oh shit," Bardock rolled his eyes. "Go and help your mother find her medical supplies."

He wasted no time, rushing off in a blur of speed. He continued to stare at the wall in front of him, where Raditz had been, wondering what the hell he was going to do with him.

"Dad?" Turles voice called, but it was full of concern. The second time, he was clearly confused. "Dad?"

"What?" Bardock turned back to Turles, who was staring with awe in his eyes at Sprout. When Bardock's vision finally shifted down to Sprout, he understood the confusion.

All of his wounds were gone.

"What..." Bardock started, eyes rapidly scanning Sprout's body for any sign of damage other than blood that sat atop fresh skin. "What happened when I looked away?"

"I… I don't know," Turles stuttered, still staring in amazement. "One second he was covered in injuries, and then the next I blink, and he's fine."

"Alright, we found the supplies!" Gine skidded back into the room, Raditz at her heel. When their eyes landed on Sprout's freshly healed body, they both looked at each other, before simultaneously saying, "Huh?"

The room stayed silent until another figure walked in. Kakarot threw the door open and looked up at his stunned family, before seeing the focus of their astonishment. With a childish grin on his face, he flew up and pumped his fist into the air.

"Yes! He came back to fight me!"

My apologies for this chapter being like a month late! I moved out and have been very busy, but I'm back! Hope you enjoyed the chapter!
