Chapter 13: Zaria
I found out, in a blaze of burning blue fire, that Luna had been Turles secret apprentice all along.
Flames hot enough to completely melt anything that it touched poured out of Luna's mouth, hitting the ground beneath her, before exploding outward in a humongous wave that washed over the surface of the planet. Some of our attackers managed to avoid the attack, but the ones who didn't were entirely swamped by the blast. Only their bones remained, and even they were melting by the second
"That was aw-" I was interrupted mid-compliment by the fighters launching themselves at us the moment the flames subsided. I blocked several attacks in quick succession, before dodging two punches that came at my torso. Swing around in the air, I dropped my leg down with a powerful swing, smacking them both out of the sky with a resounding crack, dropping their health down to nothing before their bodies even hit the ground.
They're not that strong, are they? There were a lot of them, but they weren't all that powerful. The lowest level I could see was a level 8, and he had a power level just over 250. I was more than double that, and I realized as I hit him so hard in the stomach that his body flew off into the far distance, that this fight wouldn't be as impossible as I'd feared.
About fifteen of the Saiyans had surrounded me when they broke away, the rest focusing mainly on Turles and Leeku. Gune and four others were ganging on Turles, and although he was on the defensive, he looked to be holding up okay.
That left about twenty people to deal with Leeku, but judging by their power levels and the wicked grin on her face, they wouldn't last very long. I, however, wasn't sure just how much longer I'd last against my opponents. While I was definitely stronger than most of them, did I have enough endurance to outlast twelve more guys?
I don't have a choice. I caught a fist that was coming at me but was forced to let go to duck under a kick that barely missed my head. I kicked off of the ground and flipped in the air, grabbing the outstretched leg as I did, ripping it out and using the bloody limb to smack the other one in the face. It didn't kill either of them, but I doubt the guy with one leg was going to last very long bleeding out.
Another came behind me faster than I could dodge, punching me in the back and sending me barrelling through the air.
I caught myself, spinning just in time to see another Saiyan right in front of me. I wasn't fast enough, and his punch sent me spinning. I landed on my feet and skidded until I came to a stop.
A new guy charged at me with intensity while the others followed, but he was cut off by a pair of powerful jaws biting into his tail so hard that it immediately fell off. His expression went completely blank and his mouth hung open. I was sure that he was unconcious, but just to be sure, I flew over and punched him so hard in the nose that it exploded into pieces. The sound of it cracking open was satisfying to my ears.
"You didn't think that you were doing this alone, did you?" She rhetorically asked, standing beside me with her fangs bared and steam ascending from the corners of her mouth.
How did I ever consider killing her? I smirked, adrenaline filling my body, as our attackers reached us once more. Four people surrounded me, each of them throwing a ball of ki at me. They weren't all that strong, but if they put all of their energy into those attacks, just taking the attack with my normal shield would use up a lot of my ki. In desperation, I threw my hands to my side and focused on my energy.
I was on stage four of my energy manipulation training, and at each stage, the next became easier. This wasn't an attack that I had tried before, but as I attempted to do it, I knew that I could. My energy, which usually tight against my body. expanded rapidly in all directions. The energy balls exploded prematurely against the expanding wave, and it continued to expand until it consumed the four fighters. Two of them were fried on the spot, and the other two went tumblinh into the ground.
That took more Ki than I would have preferred, bringing my ki down to below halfway. There were eight more left, three of them injured but the others still fresh. I was panting slightly, and the way that they were watching me now made me realize that they were taking me more seriously.
Gune probably told them that I had a low power level, based on what Leeku said in the conversation yesterday, which is why the weaker warriors were sent to me. They hadn't taken me very seriously, but now they were starting to see that I wasn't weak. And as Luna shot a solid stream of flames at them, consuming one of them, they realized that neither was she.
After that I was forced to stay on the defensive, blocking and dodging attacks as they came. Whenever I tried to counter, another would come in and attack from a different angle, alternating from regular attack to ki balls. They weren't giving us enough time to counterattack. They were fighting smarter, and with their numbers, it was working. With every block, my energy was dropping, and the longer that it dragged out, I could feel my breath catching as exhaustion started to take effect.
"We're going to need to go on the offensive before our ki runs out," Luna suggested. Her ki was also going rather low.
"They know that they can't take us out individually, so they're fighting in a group," She said as she blocked an attack with her metallic tail. "I have an idea."
She explained, and I grinned. It was risky, but if it worked, it would be brilliant.
The next enemy that attacked me was surprised when instead of blocking or dodging, I let him punch me. My face creaked to the side before fire burst out of my chest and began to run over the man's body. His eyes widened in terror, as his clothes melted onto his body and his skin started to burn away. I ended his suffering with a mouth beam that reduced his face down to a skeleton.
Luna and I had been reminded when I released my desperate energy wave that I couldn't hurt her, and she couldn't hurt me. As party members, any attack that I tried to hit her with would simply go through me, and vice versa. I smirked at our attacks as they narrowed their eyes at us, unsure of their next move.
But what they did next, I hadn't really expected, or even knew was possible.
The remaining seven members stood in a line, with their hands extended. Energy hummed in their hands, before they shot it at me in a beam, all seven of them combining to form a giant beam of light and mixed energies. My eyes widened in alarm, knowing that the beam heading at me was likely powerful enough to kill me in one hit.
Thinking fast, I gathered as much energy as I could and flew straight up, avoiding the beam by just a hair. I could feel the heat of the attack burning as it passed me, and carried on for miles. I watched as it disappeared, before exploding in a blast so big that the ground shook for a solid few seconds. When I got back to my feet, I grinned in victory.
They'd used all of their ki in that last attack, so they didn't have any to defend against me with. With panting, exhausted breaths, they stared at me in horror, before I moved in.
Luna got to them first, having also survived the beam. The first one had his throat ripped out, and I hit the second with a punch that crushed his ribs. Another tried to hit me from behind, but Luna leaped through my chest and out of my back, clawing across his face swiftly and effectively, removing his eyeballs in one swipe.
The rest were easy pickings. With no ki, they couldn't hurt me enough to do much damage at all.
Level Up!
6 Stat Points Awarded
I didn't update my sheet immediately, instead turning to see how my friends were holding up. The majority of Leeku's enemies were dead, and she looked relatively fine. She had a few scratches on her body, but nothing serious. Turles was now fighting his uncle and two other warriors, but he looked far worse. His clothes were damaged, and he looked a little roughed up. I noticed, surprised, that the two other warriors that Turles had already defeated were unconscious, not dead.
Deciding that Leeku was doing fine on her own, I blasted over to Turles's fight, with Luna behind me. I tackle one of them out of the air, slamming him into the ground. This one, I realized very quickly, was stronger than the ones I'd just killed. He shoved me off of him and flipped onto his feet.
Level 14
Beli
HP - 9,660
Ki - 3,000/9,418
Power Level - 966
I focused on the main information, knowing that I didn't have much time before he attacked. Since I'd just leveled up, he was only two levels above me, but I hadn't applied any of my stat points yet. However, even though he had a higher power level, I still had the advantage. My Ki and health instantly regenerates every level, so now it was full and I had slightly more than before. I was still tired, approaching exhaustion, but my adrenaline was pushing me through it. On top of that, by my side, a very furious Wolf snarled.
We both charged at the same time, colliding with so much force that the ground underneath us collapsed in on itself, creating a small crater.
"I thought you were supposed to be the weak one?!" He growled through gritted teeth. I simply grinned at him, before rearing my head back and slamming it into his as hard as I could. He staggered back, just as Luna slipped between my legs and span swiftly, her tail aiming to either break his ankles or cut them off.
To his praise, he lifted his leg just in time, dodging the attack successfully. I was on him in a second, jumping up and coming down with a punch to his chest. He put a hand in front of the attack, catching my fist in a tight grip, before pulling me down directly into his waiting knee. I gasped in pain, all the air in my lungs vacating, before I was thrown to the side.
Well that hurt. I groaned in pain, feeling the hot blood trickle down onto my smiling lips. I jumped to my feet and flew at my enemy with even more energy than before. He was engaging with Luna, who was running around him quickly, similar to what she had done to the meta-wolves back in the cave. I flew up, above them both, before staring down with a grin. With a powerful scream, I released a mouth beam down at my enemy. I've got to think of a new name for that.
The man looked up at me in shock, unable to dodge without giving Luna a chance to attack. He threw his arms above his head, and my energy beam collided with him harshly, drilling him into the ground, before exploding violently. Luna, unharmed, bounced back and we both waited until the smoke cleared.
Beli was at the bottom of a small crater, and his arms had severe burns on them. I grinned, knowing that this meant his Ki had run out. We descended on him like wild animals, and while at first, he tried to fight it, very quickly he realized that he was doing no damage, and he died a quick death.
His death gave me an astounding amount of EXP, bringing me very close to leveling up once again. I started to realize that there was a connection between my level, my enemy's level, and the amount of experience points I received for a kill, but my thoughts were interrupted by the three more red dots approaching.
I looked around me, seeing that Leeku had finished with her enemies, unharmed, but looking very tired. Turles had his uncle on his knees, with a fist ready to strike, but paused in motion. We all looked up at the figures dropped down in front of us.
There were two large men and in the middle a smaller girl. She looked to be around my age, and she had a nervous, fearful look on her face. The two men had strange hats on, and strange, expensive-looking clothes. They landed a few yards in front of me. I observed the girl first.

Zaria

HP - 616
Mana - 1,680
KI - [Locked]
Power Level - 154
Zaria is a slave, used only for her very unique skills in magic. She is not like the other pirates and is treated as a prisoner despite being with them for years. She yearns to be free. Her body is extremely weak, so using her magic is painful for her. She knows very few spells but is forced to use them often, so she is very proficient in them.
She doesn't know who you are, only that she has to capture you.
She is currently afraid of what Vishar will do to her if she fails.
I didn't have time to wonder what mana even was before they started speaking.
"Looks like we arrived a little too late," One of them chuckled while looking at Gune. "I thought you said that you would be able to handle three brats and a mutt."
"So did I," Gune grumbled through his broken teeth. Looking over at me, he said, "They were stronger than I expected."
"Well, it doesn't matter. You've served your purpose," The man said, before looking down at the girl by his side. At his glance, she flinched.
"Do it," He ordered her. She hesitated, but after a few seconds, she lifted her arms towards Gune. Her face twisted in concentration and she murmured something, and in the blink of an eye, Gune had disappeared from Turles grip, reappearing in front of the newcomers.
"Thank you," Gune said to the man, who simply grinned, before putting a hand on Gune's back and blowing a hole right through his chest.
Good riddance. I used the time to observe the man.

Vishar
Species - Saiyan
Gender - Male
Age - 30
Reputation - Disliked
HP - 13,056
Ki - 12,240
Power Level - 1,224
Vishar is a vicious pirate and the leader of a large group of pirates. Cast out from Omato town for being a thief, he holds a grudge against all who come from there. While he is a decently skilled second-class warrior, to ensure the success of his missions, he often uses others to guarantee the victory, before he swoops in and takes the prize. Zaria is a particularly helpful tool.
He dislikes you because you're from Omato town, and wants to capture you so that he can steal the item in your possession.
He is currently feeling confident.
"Why did you do that?!" Turles screamed, his Ki blazing around him in powerful waves. Apparently, even though his uncle had tried to steal from us, and potentially kill us, he was still greatly angered by his death.
"More money for me," Vishar said simply, before turning to me and locking eyes. "I hear that you're the one we need."
Confused for a second, I remembered that in the morning, Gune had seen me stash away the books in my safe place. So, seeing that we were barely carrying anything in our hands, he assumed that what we were selling was in there. I narrowed my eyes at him in response, clenching my fists. I was running extremely low on stamina, and I knew that if I got into another fight, I wouldn't have long.
"We need that one, Zaria," He said to the girl again, pointing at me. "You know what to do."
She obeyed, her hands sparking a scarlet red color, before a large mist shot from her mouth in a wave, speeding towards me. I smirked, knowing that with ki as low as hers, this wouldn't do anything to me. I didn't even try to attack, simply standing with my arms crossed and a grin on my face. Hopefully, this would scare them enough to…
The mist hit me, and it didn't feel like anything, at first. And then, my eyes started to drop. The last thing I heard before I hit the ground was Turles yell, and then everything went black.
