Chapter 30: Sprout vs Kakarot
Waiting for my match was painful, my excitement making me impatient. Due to their only being two fights for the semi-finals, it was scheduled to be much later in the day. Because of this, the entire day was filled with festivity and food. Even still, this didn't satisfy me.
Leeku's fight ended up being first, furthering my impatience. I tapped my healed leg against the ground, briefly pausing to consider just how powerful my healing ability was. Eating food hadn't healed it completely, only closing the wound. However, after sleeping, I woke up with a new leg.
How far can this regeneration be stretched? I briefly wondered, until finally, the match was called. My eyes followed Leeku on the way to the stage and when she turned in my direction, I offered her a thumbs up, which she accepted with a nod.
Her expression was tense, but in her position, who wouldn't be? Her opponent wasn't someone to be taken lightly. Bll had demolished all of his opponents with relative ease. His insane speed, along with his poisonous daggers, helped him overpower his enemies before they could do much against him.
Once the battle started, it was clear that Leeku wasn't going to be an exception, but honestly, that wasn't a surprise to me. Nor did I want her to win, as bad as that may sound. If given the choice between fighting Bll in the finale or Leeku, I would choose Bll in a heartbeat.
Leeku was a challenge to me before, but at my power level now? I doubted that she would be much of a challenge at all.
The battle began and Bll moved in a blur, dodging Leeku's attacks with ease and slicing her at all angles with the same daggers that he'd used against me. She tried to hit him with a few Ki arrows, but he dodged them easily, blitzing her. It didn't take long before she collapsed to her knees, eyes wide and her body paralyzed.
"And the winner is the reigning champion, Bll! Let's make some noise!"
As always, he didn't at all look happy about his win. His cold, dark eyes fell on me. The message that he wanted to give me was clear.
Win.
"Kakarot, son of Bardock, versus Sprout the Decapitator, son of Chief Omato!" The announcer shouted for all to hear. "Who will win?!"
"I won't go easy on you like last time," Kakarot said as he bounced on the heels of his feet. "You don't go easy on me either, okay?"
"I didn't plan to," I settled into my basic fighting stance. Ki surrounded my body like a flame as my eyes narrowed. "I won't lose."
His smirk spread from ear to ear. "Good."
The starting explosion sounded above us, and immediately we flew at each other. The difference between our power levels was roughly a hundred, practically nothing. We clashed in the middle of the arena and immediately, all of the sand around us quaked and buckled.
After pulling back for a second, Kakarot threw a punch at my face, which I dodged by pushing his attack to the side and throwing one of my own. As expected, he did the same, followed by a kick swinging up to catch me in the chin. I narrowly avoided it by flipping backward and landing a few feet away.
I won't let you push the offensive this time! I immediately threw both of my hands forward, sending two balls of Ki at him. His eyes widened in alarm, but somehow, he managed to bend his body backward in time to let both attacks sail over him harmlessly.
I was on him again, coming down with a powerful kick that would have slammed into his stomach if he hadn't raised both of his hands and caught the attack. A vein popped out of his head as he heaved and dragged me from my place, throwing me into the distance. I caught myself in time to dodge several Ki blasts.
I flew up, before circling back and heading directly for Kakarot. His Ki attacks intensified, but I dodged them by flying in a zig-zag formation. When I finally got to him, I reared my fist back, and he lifted his arm in return, to block it. Instead of striking him though, I blitzed over to his side. His eyes widened a smidge, as my fist smashed into his face, distorting it before he was sent skidding off into the sand.
"First blood goes to me," I shook my fist, smirking as he stood up. Blood dripped from his nose, but the smile didn't leave his face.
"You really have gotten stronger!" His eyes burned with energy. "Let's go!"
He sped at me, sticking low to the ground until he was close enough to fly upwards in a powerful uppercut. At least, that's what I thought he was going for. When I moved backward to dodge it, I felt a crushing small fist in my gut. I gasped in pain, but held my ground, bringing my hands together in a joint fist before attempting to slam it into Kakarot's back.
Both of his arms swung up, intercepting the attack by lodging themselves into my armpits. Before I could react further, he lifted his body off the ground completely and delivered a powerful joint kick to my stomach, violently tearing the air out of my lungs and sending me flying.
It took me a few seconds of gasping for air to recover from that one, but Kakarot would not relent. I saw him approaching from the front and in a panic, threw up my hands. However, I quickly noticed that attacking me from the front wasn't his intention. As soon as he was in punching range, he was suddenly at my side. The same move I'd used on him. I turned to face him, and in an instant, he was above me.
This continued for several seconds, as he feinted the majority of his attack. Whenever I thought was the right time to strike, he would punish me by hitting me where I least expected it. After taking several more hits, I growled and launched my next attack.
Ki expanded from my body in a wave of destruction, driving everything around me away. Kakarot was forced to retreat for a second, but a second was all that I needed. Cutting off the energy wave, I gave chase, our fight continuing in a barrage of blows.
He isn't as skilled as Turles in hand-to-hand combat. He doesn't know their family's fighting style. I've overestimated him. I thought as we matched each other blow for blow. Our fists clashed with a loud crack before suddenly, he shifted.
When I felt it, it was already too late. His leg was behind mine, and the fist that had just collided with mine flatted out into a palm that pushed me back. I tripped backward, but I was not alone. He followed me down, and I immediately knew what it was. He's trying to get me into a grapple!
"My Dad probably hasn't taught you this lesson yet, so I'll go ahead!" He said as one of his arms wrapped around mine and began twisting it. "If you make your enemy think you're weaker than you actually are, they'll make more mistakes!"
By the time I hit the ground, I was face first and my arm was twisted almost to my neck. I could feel his knee pressed up against my back, and the heat of an energy ball at the back of my head.
"Give up," He prompted, the heat intensifying.
"Think again!" I yelled back. Activating [Iron Body] I threw my head upwards, slamming it into the energy ball, causing it to prematurely explode. My entire body blasted into the sand below, but it was worth it. With Iron Body activated, I only took half of the damage, so Kakarot would have been more hurt than me.
I flipped onto my feet and my theory was confirmed immediately. His right hand was charred black and shaking, but clearly still in use. His clothes were singed and he was panting slightly.
Lightweight! I was in his face a second later, past his guard with my fist inches from his stomach. Meteor Fist!
His body was lifted off of the ground by the force of my punch. Spittle exploded out of his mouth, the attack leaving him stunned. I followed up by jumping into the air, before spinning rapidly and delivering a kick to the top of his head, sending him crashing into the ground below.
Before his body bounced off the ground, I was above him. He had no time to react as I began attacking him from every angle, punching him and kicking him across the field. He surprised me by managing to block some of them, but overall, I was far too quick for him.
Lightweight is going to run out soon. I feinted an attack at his back, popping up in front of him and going for a finishing blow that would hopefully knock him out. I could feel lightweight slipping away, and a second before the attack would have hit him, I noticed a smirk on his face. What th-
In an unbearable explosion of pain, the entire right side of my vision disappeared and I was sent hurtling out of the air. I didn't resist as the sand consumed me.
What the fuck was that? I groaned after laying for god knows how long. Once I managed to stand up, I tried to open my right eye but had no success. A quick wipe across the right side revealed warm blood. When I looked up at the spot that I previously was, Kakarot stood with a wild grin on his face. Blue energy pooled around his entire arm like a hurricane, distorting his fist entirely.
"This is an attack I made after seeing Dad's Riot Javelin," He said as his fist continued to disappear behind the storm of Ki. "I call it the Riot Ball."
Wow. I stared at the forming Ki attack in complete shock and wonder. "You're truly something else, Kakarot. How in the world did you manage to get so far in your Ki training so quickly?"
"Dunno," He shrugged his shoulders, the attack only growing. "But you better get ready. This fight is about to end."
This kid is really something else. I stared him down with one good eye. A prodigy, if I've ever seen one. But…
Energy poured out of me like a waterfall, and with wide, outstretched arms, I gathered it together into three balls, one for each hand and one for my mouth. Inhaling as much air as I could into my lungs, I prepared. The ground shook violently as both of our attacks reached a crescendo.
He stepped towards me and threw his right arm forward, releasing a massive wave of energy that was easily twice the size of my body directly at me. Not hesitating, I threw both of my arms forward, and with a loud yell that eclipsed the voices of all onlookers, my attack was unleashed.
"KINGS SPEAR!"
"RIOT BALL!"
My vision was consumed in bright light as our attacks connected in an explosion of pure energy. Simultaneously, the sand around us for miles turned into glass and shattered instantly. Onlookers were forced to flee, or risk being blown away. Above us, the clouds disintegrated into nothingness.
This sensation! My body vibrated as his energy wrestled against mine. I thought the attacks would just explode against each other, but they're locked in some sort of struggle!
Somehow, despite everything being blown away, the ground beneath both of us stood firm, likely protected by our Ki. My feet dug down into the glass as my muscles strained and split. Slowly, but surely, I could feel his attack beginning to push mine back towards me. I forced more of my Ki into the beam, but no matter how much I pushed, it didn't help. His Ki control was simply more defined than mine. Despite mine being larger, he had a destructive rotation to his that mine lacked.
It looks like I have no choice. My throat began to burn as blue began to overtake my vision. Using my mind, I opened my stat sheet and dumped 12 of my 24 attribute points into my strength stat, bringing it up to 71.
Strength Stat Reached 60! You've Been Granted A Special Strength Skill!

Iron Body Lvl 2 (Branch 2) - Once per combat, you can will your muscles to harden to extreme degrees, reducing an incoming attack by 100% and nullifying piercing attacks.
I don't have time to think about that. I ignored it for now, as power flooded through me and my entire body shuddered and lurched forward.
A tidal wave of energy exploded out of me, increasing the size of my attack immensely and easily pushing Kakarot's Riot Ball back. Blue was consumed by orange before a massive explosion of light blinded me.
Battle won!
10,285 Experience Points Earned!
Good, he isn't dead. That was my final thought, before collapsing to the ground in exhaustion. My world promptly faded to black.
POV Change
The next generation of Saiyans truly is truly something terrifying. A lone figure stood at a great distance, observing the aftermath of the semi-final round. Slowly, he lowered a pair of binoculars from his eyes and tucked it into a bag at his side.
The onlooker wasn't sure how many others The King had sent out to look for the boy, but what he did know was that this was a secret mission. Whoever that Saiyan was, he was important to the King. For whatever reason, he wasn't sure. He wasn't paid to know, only to find the boy and report it back.
"Finally, it looks like I've finally found h-"
The Tuffle choked on his words, before slowly falling to the ground unconscious. Behind him, the air shimmered, before a figure materialized as if out of nowhere. A flowing black robe covered the majority of his body, hiding away the pale blue skin beneath it.
"I can not allow you to interfere with what's to come," The figure spoke, and despite his quiet tone, it was as if thousands of voices were overlapping each other. "So, rest for now."
With the wave of the mysterious figure's hand, the Tuffle vanished, leaving only the pale figure. His body grew more and more translucent as the seconds passed.
"Keep growing, Sprout. You'll need it."
