The Saiyan Gamer
Chapter 32: Son Of Destruction
One Month Ago
Silence permeated the large, mostly empty hallways that a lone woman sat in. Gold lined the walls and the floor sparkled with marble reflections. The faint smell of apples wafted through the air, but nothing in this beautiful hallway could have made her feel any better about what was happening at the end of it.
As a much older figure stepped into the hall, he couldn't help but feel as if his presence was an intrusion. Despite his footsteps echoing loudly through the hall, the woman did not turn her head to acknowledge his existence. He thought it would have been better if she'd turned then because now he would have to break her concentration deliberately.
"Princess Azalea," He called out to her, his voice a low rasping sound. Slowly her head turned to face him, and he was met with a blank stare. Even despite her expressionlessness, he knew what she was feeling inside. He'd watched her grow up, after all.
"Oak," She replied after a second of silence. Oak took the moment to drop to a knee and bow, before raising his head. "What can I do for you?"
"Right now? Nothing," He said as he made his way over to her. Once he did, he stood silently at her side. "The question is, can I do anything for you?"
She seemed to contemplate it for a second, her eyebrows furrowing and her eyes narrowing slightly before she sighed and shook her head. "No. I know where you'll stand when Wood gets out of the meeting with Father."
"And where will that be?" He asked.
"Where you always stand. With my Father," She replied, her tone clipped.
"He is my King," Oak said in defense. "One day, when you are Queen, I'll be at your side too."
She frowned for the first time in the conversation, her eyes still fixated firmly on the door ahead of them. "By the time I'm Queen, there may not be a kingdom to rule over."
He stayed silent after this, not willing to give any further opinion on the matter. She was a stubborn one, with hatred for the Saiyan that burned like the core of the planet. If he showed that he agreed with her in the slightest, it would boost her resolve tenfold.
They waited patiently until the door shuddered and began to open. One by one, Tuffles walked out of the meeting room, the tone of the meeting clear. Many of them had deep scowls on their faces, while others were happy with the development. Before passing, the majority of them nodded their head respectfully at both Oak and Azalea, before moving on.
"Ah, how's my favorite little project?!" An older figure bounced over to them once the rest of the crowd dispersed. Oak stayed silent, watching the strange man as he stood in front of Azalea with beaming eyes. Even if he was a little socially awkward, Professor Lychee was a brilliant scientist.
"Good to see you, Professor," Azalea spoke, her tone giving out none of the supposed excitement she felt. "Any updates for me?"
"No no, I'm afraid not," He sighed, as he examined her with narrowed eyes. "No side effects?"
"None so far."
"Good, good," He beamed, before looking over his shoulder. All of their eyes followed, just in time to see Wood stepping out of the room with a neutral expression on his face. His eyes met with Azalea's and she immediately stood up.
"I'll be at the lab within the week," She ended the conversation abruptly, already heading to the entrance. Lychee nodded his head in understanding, before also turning to leave.
"Lychee," Oak spoke up, stopping the older Tuffle in his tracks.
"Sergeant, what can I do for you?" Lychee turned on his heel, eyes wide in anticipation.
"Have you made any progress on the proposed training equipment idea?"
"Ah, well yes, and also no," He hummed to himself. "While it is a very good idea, it is very difficult in practicality. One mistake and I could potentially create a black hole that obliterates the planet. These things take time and very careful precision."
"Yes, which is something I mentioned in the proposal," Oak said, crossing his arms over his massive chest. "Which is also why I suggested that you temporarily join hands with Dr. Myu-"
"I will not work with that…" Lychee expression shifted in an instant, into one of great annoyance, but he drew it in as fast as it showed. "For that to happen, you'll need to get this project approved by the King himself, or the council."
Oak inhaled deeply, wanting to press the issue but knowing that it was true. The two brilliant scientists refused to work together unless absolutely necessary. It was a shame, considering their combined works were the main reason why they as a species survived the Great War.
He nodded his head respectfully, before saying, "I understand. Have a good day, Professor."
Lychee offered a short nod, before walking off. By the time Oak turned his head back to the door, it was closed, and he was alone.
"I've been looking for you."
The bar was packed to the brim with people laughing, chatting, and getting drunk. At the corner of the building, Azalea sat alone with a hood covering her face to protect her identity. Sliding into the booth opposite her, a man with short blue hair soaked in what he saw.
Blerry was used to seeing her in emotional states, but most of the time it was a state of anger or frustration. As his eyes scanned the frown and empty look in her eyes, it was honestly the first time that he could say he'd seen her sad. Slowly he reached out and took her hand into his.
"The meeting didn't go well, then..." He acknowledged. Her frown only deepened and she looked away from him and at the wall next to them.
"How did you even find me?" She asked, her voice low and dejected. Completely unlike her.
"I know you well," He squeezed her hand and smiled gently. "I am your boyfriend for a reason."
She sighed a long and drawn-out sound, before throwing her head back and looking at the ceiling. "He wants to push back the deadline again. Now, when we were only a year away from launching our plan."
Blerry could only frown at this. "Did he say why?"
"Wood told him about the white-haired Saiyan that we met in Mossgrove," She said, tilting her head again to look at him. "You do remember now, don't you?"
His frown deepened further as he thought about the experience. When Wood approached him when they returned to the mainland and restored the memories that were taken away, Wood was reasonably upset at Azalea. It was a massive invasion of privacy and trust, but they could talk about that another time. Right now, he was here for her.
"I do," He said simply. "But we can talk about it another time. What I'm worried about right now is the war, and whoever that white-haired Saiyan is. Is he really that important, for the King to delay the war plans?"
Azalea then explained exactly who she thought the white-haired Saiyan was, and even after hearing it twice, Blerry had to ask her to repeat herself, the information not fully registering over the shock. Eventually, he ran his hand through his hair and took a deep breath.
"Holy shit," He stared at the roof in disbelief. "No wonder you didn't want the King to know. He's not going to want to start the war unless he knows that kid is safe."
"Which can take an infinite amount of time to accomplish, if it's even possible," She went on. "It didn't take long to locate him. I put a tracker in the empty money box."
"Isn't that a good thing, then?" He asked, leaning forward as hope-filled him. "All we need to do is retrieve him and the plans can go forward."
"He's in Omato Village," She continued, and immediately all hope was shattered. "Under the protection of not only The Butcher but The Devil himself."
"I see... So the deadline was potentially pushed back indefinitely," He spoke slowly before his head fell. "I can see why you're miserable, then."
"I'm not miserable," She chuckled dryly, frown still marrying her face. "I am just unsure about what I'm about to do."
His eyes widened and he looked back at her. "What you're about to do? Do you plan on disobeying your father?"
She narrowed her eyes at him, before asking. "If I was, who's side would you be on?"
He stayed silent for a few seconds, before smiling lightly and squeezing her hand tighter. "I'm always on your side, my princess."
It was a rare occasion to see her blush, so it was especially pleasing when her cheeks brightened. She rolled her eyes, before leaning off of her chair and looking down at the table in front of them. That was when Blerry noticed that the table wasn't empty at all, but full of papers and plans.
"Here's what we're going to do."
"What I'm asking you to do is simple, so I'm not going to repeat myself again," Blerry paced as he spoke into the scouter on his head. "If he is in the city, we have no chance of succeeding. You will use a voice modifier to contact him and give him an urgent message. I don't care what it is, just get him as far away as possible!"
Blerry canceled the call and stopped pacing. In front of him was an extremely massive bunker. It was once a main military post during the Great War but had since been abandoned. Well, until about a week ago when he decided to use it as their temporary base of operations. Now, standing in front of him were dozens of drones, ships, and soldiers walking back and forth.
"This is insane," A woman with long blue hair came up from behind him and stared out at the massive operation in motion. "I can understand where she's coming from, but this is still fucking insanity."
"Sometimes you have to do something insane to get results, Bloom," Blerry told his sister in response, not a moment of hesitation. "Disobeying the King is a serious offense, but some would say that not taking action against the Saiyans after all of their crimes is equally as bad."
"And what happens if the kid is killed?" She turned to face him, but he did not turn to meet her eye.
"It's a risk worth taking," He said slowly. "But that's why you're coming with me. While Azalea leads the charge, you and I will capture him at any cost."
She bit her lip and crossed her arms. "And what about Omato and Bardock?"
"I've got that covered," He ensured her. "You just focus on your mission and everything will go according to plan."
She didn't seem convinced, but she nodded her head anyway, before walking off. Blerry watched his twin leave, before putting his hand up and continuing his calls.
"So you come into my laboratory, blabbering about plans to disobey the King, and you just expect me to go along with it?"
The atmosphere in the almost completely empty laboratory was thick. Blerry frowned deeply as he looked down at the tall, and exceptionally talented, Dr Myuu, who regarded him with narrowed eyes. The scientist was the last person Blerry needed to contact before the plan was in order. Coincidentally, it was also the person he wanted to contact the least.
"I know it sounds crazy, but if it isn't done now, the state of Tuffle civilization will begin to decay," Blerry pleaded with the scientist. "Our chances of succeeding are high, but you're the final piece that would make it an assured victory. So, as a general of the Tuffle army, and ambassador of Princess Azalea, I beg of you to consider my words."
Dr Myuu twirled his mustache, before bursting out into loud, uncontrolled laughter. "Did I say that I wasn't going to help you? You, young people are always so dramatic."
Blerry looked up at him, perplexed. "So you'll help?"
"Oh, of course!" The scientist chuckled. "I would never miss an opportunity to show off my creations."
"In that case, what can you offer us?" He asked in return, only for Dr Myuu to shake his head.
"So impatient. Didn't your parents tell you not to rush your elders?" Myuu raised an eyebrow, before sighing and turning around. "Let me go to the back and retrieve something that will help you."
The blue-haired Tuffle nodded his head and watched patiently as the mad scientist went off and opened a door at the back of his laboratory. The moment the large, sealed door opened, monstrous sounds spilled out in such spades that Blerry froze. Myuu laughed at the reaction, before entering the hidden room and shutting the door behind him.
Blerry let out a breath that he hadn't known he was holding. There was a reason why Dr Lychee still had hundreds of scientists working underneath him, but Dr Myuu worked alone. Despite them being equally as brilliant, their methods were... Very different. While Dr Lychee was very clinical and to the books, Dr Myuu was the exact opposite. Blerry could only speculate that the only reason he wasn't locked away somewhere dark and cold, was because his mind was far too great to be hidden away.
It took a few more minutes for the orange-haired Tuffle to come bumbling back into the room with a small bag in his hand. As he approached, Blerry raised his eyes at the man, confused as to what he was supposed to be seeing.
"Is this a joke?" Blerry asked honestly, eyeing the strange brown leather bag that Myuu was carrying. If could literally fit in his palm, how could it help them in the upcoming battle?
"Oh, it is not a joke by any means," He smirked widely, exposing far too many teeth for comfort. "Pour this far upstream into the river that flows through Omato Village."
"H-How did you know that our target was Omato Village?" Blerry asked, his eyes widening in shock. Myuu only chuckled in response, before handing Blerry the bag.
"It isn't poison, so you won't see the effects until the battle is well underway. And once it begins, don't be afraid. You will not be harmed," He went on to explain. "However, I do have one request. A payment, of sorts."
"Whatever it is, I'm sure Princess Azalea will be able to give it to you."
Myuu turned his back to the younger man and crossed his arms behind his back. "Bring me back the body of The Butcher. Alive or dead, it doesn't matter to me."
Shocked by the fact he wasn't asking for money, Blerry said, "Is that all? What do you plan on doing with him?"
The only response that he got was silence and a low, sinister chuckle. A shiver tore through his body, and he took that as his cue to leave.
Somehow, deep in his gut, he felt a sliver of pity for the Saiyans that were going to come face to face with one of Myuu's creations.
"WE'VE BEEN STUCK IN A STAGNANT STATE OF INACTIVITY FOR FAR TOO LONG!"
The gathered crowd of soldiers, pilots, captains, and generals roared as their Princess paced back and forth on stage. Her hair was slicked back and fell far down her heavily armored back. Despite the dramatically large armor, she didn't look at all weighed down as she walked across the stage with a ferocious expression on her face.
"WE WILL TAKE BACK OUR LAND FROM THE SAIYANS AND WE WILL START TODAY!"
She continued to rave as her boyfriend watched silently from behind her. Standing next to Blerry stood Bloom, who had a blank expression on her face. Both of them had matching blue backpacks on as they listened to the speech rage on.
"TODAY MARKS THE BEGINNING OF THE END FOR THE SAIYAN RACE! FOR FAR TOO LONG WE HAVE LET THEM ROAM UNCHECKED AND WATCHED AS THEIR CHAOS HAS SPREAD ACROSS THE KNOWN UNIVERSE! NO MORE! WE'VE ALLOWED THEM TO BOX US INTO A CORNER LIKE ANIMALS! NO MORE! IF MY FATHER WILL NOT STAND UP FOR HIS PEOPLE, THEN I WILL!"
The crowd began to cheer, their endless applause filling the hanger with her praise.
"WHO'S READY?!" She raised her arms in the air, and the crowd responded with a loud and resolute roar.
Azalea turned her back to the crowd and began to approach her two admirals, who waited patiently until she arrived. When she did, immediately Blerry knew that something was off.
"I can't come with you on this mission," Azalea revealed, making both of their eyes widen.
"What? Why?" Bloom asked, clearly the more startled of the two. "With you there, our chances of victory are definite!"
"I'm amazed at how fast you were able to pull together so many soldiers who are willing to go against my father," Azalea said, directed at both of them. "However, due to the speed at which we spread the word, something fell through the cracks. My father has requested an audience with me tomorrow evening, and I cannot deny him."
"Just you?" Blerry asked, his mind racing. "So that means that he doesn't know that Bloom and I are involved."
"That is likely," She nodded her head. "It also means that he doesn't know that we plan on launching our attack today. If he did know, we wouldn't have been able to get this far."
Bloom's discomfort at the idea was plainly obvious by the deep frown on her face. "Azalea, you know I'd follow you to the end, but how do you expect us to succeed without you leading the charge?"
Azalea's eyes scanned both of them, before lifting her hands and putting them on their shoulders. "Because I believe in you both. You're my friends, and I have faith in your abilities. Blerry, you will be in charge of capturing the white-haired Saiyan. Bloom, you will lead the soldiers into battle."
The twins shared a look, before dropping to their knees and bowing to their Princess. Azalea silently looked down at them, before prompting them both to stand up.
"You know your mission. Omato Village has an estimated 10,000 residents. You have about a quarter of that, but that should be plenty, especially with you two there to back them up. Are you ready?"
"To the end of the line," The twins said in unison.
"Good," She nodded her head, before turning away from them. "I've left a surprise for you in the central ship. It will prove to be useful."
They both nodded their head, before preparing to leave. Bloom was the first to leave, jumping off the stage to join the ground troops in their preparation. Just as Blerry was about to leave, a voice stopped him.
"Don't die, alright?" Azalea's voice was soft, far softer than anything she'd shown him in their long relationship. Blerry smiled widely, as he stepped off the stage and began to fall.
"I'll see you soon."
"I thought her surprise would be something big, but this," Bloom stared at the contraption in front of them both with wide eyes.
"She's Dr Lychee favorite, I'm sure she knows ways around his laboratories. He might have even let her steal it," Blerry explained it away, despite being equally as shocked.
The contraption in front of them was about the size of ten grown men, but as thin as one. It was painted orange, like the twilight skies that covered the planet almost constantly. The outside of the device wasn't what shocked them, but rather what it did. Or what, it would do. Back in the war, these specific bombs earned the nickname, the 'Sons of Destruction' for a reason.
"Admirals, we are about to arrive," Someone entered the room and bowed to the twins, before lifting himself. "Continue as planned?"
"Yes," Blerry commanded, standing up to his full height. "Only one exception. We will launch our attack with this weapon."
The soldier's eyes fell on the bomb behind him and his eyes widened slightly before he took control of himself. "Yes, sir."
When the soldier left, the siblings turned to each other with determination in their eyes. Immediately, as if sensing their resolve, the backpacks on their back ran across their bodies like water, covering every inch before solidifying into slick, blue armor. The last thing to solidify was their masks, which resembled two cats with short, pointed ears.
"It's now or never," Bloom said, her voice now more robotic than natural.
"Be safe."
"You too."
The hatch to the room began to slowly open as the camouflaged exterior of the invasion fleet dropped. There was a massive gathering of Saiyans directly below them, much too far away to see anything specific. According to their sources, though, it was likely that their annual death tournament should have been coming to a close.
"And with this, the war to reclaim Planet Rose has begun..."
Blerry stepped forward and with a gentle push, he released the weapon of mass destruction. Slowly, it fell from the sky, dividing clouds as they both watched in silence. The iconic whistling as the bomb descended was lost to their ears, as the adrenaline of what they were about to do flowed through them. And then...
The world was consumed in a flash of blinding light.
