Waning Patience

Three months have passed since Raditz left Freeza Planet 895 for Earth on a mission of redemption. Raditz is to conquer this "Earth" in a year's time and if he fails, he will be executed. In the meantime, his Saiyan squad has been forbidden from leaving Freeza planet 895 until Raditz either succeeds or fails in his mission. Until then Kakarot, Vegeta and Nappa now stay in a hotel built into the Freeza Empire Base which is the only set of structures on the planet. The planet has already been stripped of resources and now acts as a refueling station for passing ships belonging to the Freeza Empire.

It is also treated as a rest area for Freeza Empire soldiers, they rest here before and or after completing missions. Kakarot and the other Saiyans live in separate rooms and enjoy the luxuries afforded to regular guests. One might think this would be paradise, a sort of vacation for the Saiyans. However, that is not the case, the Saiyans are an active people, they enjoy space travel and rigorous combat and not hotel vacations. No, the Saiyans stay here above all is boring and stifling, they are afforded private rooms but there is no gym or training area in the base. They are strictly prohibited from engaging in any fights out of fear they might damage the base.

The only exceptions are if they take the fight outside the base however the fight must be supervised by someone who is strong enough to intervene and in this case that would be Vegeta. Kakarot and Nappa stood face to face with each other a hundred miles from the base. Nappa and Kakarot had wanted to have a one on one fight since they got to the planet. Kakarot's recent Zenkai Boost had put him pretty close to Nappa's level and Nappa stubbornly refused to believe that Kakarot had really reached his level. Vegeta would rather they didn't fight but he knew if he didn't let them do something to relieve this tension then they might cut loose in the city without meaning to.

Vegeta imagined a drunk Freeza soldier bumping into Nappa and a fight breaking out and leading to a building collapsing. Because of this Vegeta has begrudgingly decided to referee their fight with the only caveat being they cannot use any Ki attacks. He figures this will severely limit the possible damage they can do to the surrounding area which includes the base. Kakarot cracks his neck while Nappa stretches his shoulders out ready to begin their fight. Kakarot and Nappa unleash their Ki, Kakarot is covered in a Purple Aura while Nappa is surrounded by a yellow aura with small sparks of electricity circling around the both of them.

Vegeta stood a few feet away from the pair with his arms crossed. He then said, "Ready…" Kakarot and Nappa's bodies tensed up until Vegeta said, "Begin!" Then both Saiyans rocketed toward each other at blinding speed clashing at the center. Vegeta disappeared for a moment and then reappeared a hundred feet away, watching the fight at a distance. Kakarot and Nappa disappear and reappear around the battlefield exchanging blows. Kakarot launched a right hook only for Nappa to deflect it with his left hand and throw in a left roundhouse kick.

Kakarot dodged under that and aimed for an uppercut to his jaw, which Nappa ducks under. They both disappear only for Kakarot to reappear on the ground seemingly having lost track of Nappa. Kakarot looks to his left and right for a moment before his Scouter lights up which is followed by Nappa appearing behind him aiming to hit his back with a right hook. Kakarot quickly twists his waist to his right and blocks the blow with his right knee. Kakarot then swings his right fist in a backwards swiping motion nailing Nappa in the jaw. At this time Kakarot is facing Nappa who growls in irritation and manages to land a right hook on Kakarot's right side. Kakarot also growls in response and they both break into a barrage of fists. Both waves of punches collide and bounce off of each other.

The barrage continues on both sides and soon the exchanges begin to create small shockwaves in the air. Vegeta scowls deeply as the ground begins to shake and soon enough the spot Kakarot and Nappa are having their exchange begins to crack and create a crater which is slowly getting bigger and bigger. Kakarot and Nappa go for a strong right/left hook but before they can make contact they are both suddenly hit by Vegeta. Vegeta appears next to the two of them and delivers a punch to Kakarot's gut and a elbow to Nappa's left side. Both Saiyans take a dramatic step back and fall over clutching their spot Vegeta hit them in.

Nappa curses while complaining, "Oh come on Vegeta, why'd you have to go and do that?" Kakarot agrees saying while nursing his gut, "Yeah, we didn't even throw any Ki and why couldn't you of' just told us to stop?" Vegeta let out a grunt and angrily said, "This is ridiculous, even without Ki attacks you morons somehow managed to cause trouble anyway." Vegeta then said, "If I hadn't stepped in then this little "sparring session" would have gotten out of hand." By the time Vegeta stopped the fight the crater was two hundred miles wide, nearly reaching the base still a few meters away. By the time Vegeta said this Kakarot and Nappa had mostly recovered and were getting back to their feet.

Vegeta didn't give them a chance to speak, "Now get back to your rooms. I don't want to be stuck dealing with your stench at dinner!" Kakarot and Nappa gave each other a dissatisfied look but then flew into the air and began their flight to their hotel. On the way Kakarot glanced at Vegeta and thought to himself, "He's been a lot stricter since Raditz left." Kakarot then said under his breath, "Guess it makes sense, it's my fault we're stuck here." Nappa suddenly said while glancing at Kakarot, "Don't go thinking this is over, runt." Kakarot let out an affirmative grunt and said, "Yeah, once Raditz gets back n' we're let off our leash we gotta find a place we can settle this without Vegeta breathing down our necks."

Nappa suddenly replied with, "For once we agree." After a short flight to their hotel they split from each other and go to their respective rooms. Kakarot opened his door with a four digit combination code and then entered his room. He closed it and then went about having his shower. The rooms Freeza afforded them were surprisingly nice. They had a little space, a bed, a dresser, a computer console installed into a wall and a few common hotel decor all colored white and purple. Kakarot steps into his bathroom, turns his shower on, strips down and enters it.

During his shower he thought back to after Raditz left when he saw a doctor about the strange feelings he was having after fighting Jade. It turned out that the doctor he was seeing on Freeza Station 619 came all the way to the planet Kakarot was on now to help treat him given his serious condition. They had a long talk and by the end of it this is what the doctor said, "Well lad, this might sound strange to you but your feeling empathy." Kakarot blinked at the assessment, he suddenly said, "That can't be, why the hell would I be feelin' empathy?"

The doctor chose his words carefully, "Well I don't really have a psychological profile on you but If I were to make a guess, given the story you told me. I'd say you saw this "Jade" individual and his subsequent men as an unfortunate loss." Kakarot couldn't understand why he was feeling this way, he said, "That can't be, a Saiyan can't do his job if he's busy feeling sorry for the guy he's beaten on, Doc, what can I do about this?" The Doctor scratched the side of his head and said, "Well… All I can say is for you to figure out why this "Jade" has had such an effect on you and take it from there." Kakarot found the suggestion unsatisfying since he couldn't begin to figure out why it bothered him.

The doctor saw this look and said, "Well unfortunately I'm a healer of the body, not the mind. There's only so much I can do for your mental state. I'd say sleep on the question and ask yourself once a day, maybe someday soon you'll find your answer." Kakarot had done just this and all he had gathered is that he hated fighting someone who was gonna quit partway into the fight but Kakarot felt like this wasn't the real reason, just what reason he could scrape together right now. So Kakarot's mind drifted to his brothers' mission, he thought, "I wonder what these "Earthlings" are like. Are they toothy lizard-men with six arms?"

Kakarot continued his thoughts "Maybe their sentient goo that attacks you with acid, maybe this earth is packed full of giant crustacean people who fight with claws and poison." Kakarot was starting to get excited for what his brother would find out about the world. It's about all he could do right now to stave off his boredom, after all he's been stuck on this planet for three months and it's only now that he got the chance to really stretch his legs. Kakarot soon got out of the shower and dried off before leaving for dinner. The base only had one restaurant, which basically acted as a cafeteria but with waiters. Being the only place for good food everyone went there.

What's more, it was all free, its purpose was to feed his soldiers after all. Kakarot meets up with Nappa and Vegeta at the restaurant. The inside of the restaurant is all white and silver, with circular tables and longer tables. Kakarot and his team sit at a circular table, the long tables are usually occupied by rows and rows of Freeza Soldiers who were none too happy with seeing the Saiyans. This time however it wasn't because of race, petty jealousy or even any personal grudges. Instead it was because of appetite; Kakarot, Nappa and even Vegeta wolfed down a comically large amount of food.

While they filled their bellies those at the other tables couldn't peel their eyes away from the grotesque sight. The Saiyans' manners were unsightly and the combination of this and their monstrous appetite made the sight of them eating enough to ruin everyone's appetite. This was normal for Saiyans, given their high metabolism but it was still hard to watch. The Saiyans ignored the onlookers, being very used to the feeling of eyes on them. Nappa suddenly grumbled, "Damn it all, isn't there anything to do around here besides eating and drinking?!" Kakarot agreed saying, "Yeah, outside of the chamber I'm stuck with nothen' to do." Vegeta did his best to ignore his comrades' complaints, knowing there wasn't much he could do about it.

He had heard these complaints over and over again, all he could say before was "Tough it out." But by now there wasn't a point. Suddenly a high yet rough sounding voice was directed at the Saiyans, "Hey Vegeta, fancy seeing you and your ilk here?" Vegeta immediately groans at the sound of Cui's voice. Cui is a somewhat high ranking Freeza Empire Soldier who has a somewhat adversarial relationship with Vegeta, though it was one way. Vegeta viewed Cui as a nuisance who refused to leave him alone. Somehow a rumor had spread that said Cui was Vegeta's rival. Vegeta cared very little for the notion he was comparable to Cui, despite the fact Cui was in fact on Vegeta's level.

Kakarot sensed Vegeta's irritation at the sound of Cui's voice and a mischievous grin appeared on his face. Vegeta spied this expression and dreaded what Kakarot was going to say next. "Hey Vegeta, It sounds like your "rival" has something to say to you." Vegeta let out an audible groan at Kakarot's teasing. If Vegeta wasn't already on thin ice with Freeza he would have hit Kakarot for this. Cui chimed in after Kakarot, "Yeah Vegeta, I'm talking to you, give your "rival" some attention." Vegeta hoped in vain that ignoring him would get him out of this annoying conversation but it would seem to be a failing strategy.

Vegeta looked back at Cui and thought for a moment before saying anything. Cui was a purple humanoid alien with small purple antennae at both sides of his mouth. He also had large cuplike growths on the sides of his head. He wore a green Scouter and a orange and dark blue battle jacket. He wore black pants, white gloves with an orange wrist brace along with pale green laceless boots. Vegeta then says through an irritable voice, "What the hell do you want Cui." Cui puts his hands to his sides and says, "I was just eating after a hard day's work. Then I heard a pack of spoiled brats complaining about their "vacation". Honestly, I question why Freeza gives you special treatment if this is how you repay him."

Nappa let out a quiet growl out of irritation while Kakarot eyed Cui. Vegeta on the other hand scoffed at Cui's words but decided not to immediately respond to his insulting words. Vegeta knew what Cui was doing, Cui was a coward by nature, even worse than Raditz. Suddenly voices of discontent rang throughout the hall. Other members of Freeza's army began to stand up and yell out, "Yeah, you tell those slackers off!" And, "It's not like we do any less for this army!" Vegeta knew right away Cui was trying to incite the crowd by using their feelings of jealousy and dissatisfaction to have them riot against the Saiyans.

Vegeta found the strategy unnecessary. Despite the fact Vegeta didn't consider Cui his rival; they were very evenly matched when it came to overall Battle Power. Cui didn't need to edge the crowd in order to gain an advantage, especially against Vegeta who far surpassed most of the men here. Vegeta guessed that Cui knew that Freeza forbade the Saiyans from fighting in the city and this was a attempt to get them in trouble with Freeza, get the crowd to attack the Saiyans and then blame the following fight and likely the destruction that will result from this fight on the Saiyans. Vegeta was glad that Kakarot hadn't caught on yet, otherwise he might have made the situation worse.

After all, these kinds of tactics were a good way to get on Kakarot's bad side. The last thing Vegeta wanted was to try to rein in Kakarot and deal with a mob at the same time. Given the fact Cui wasn't starting the fight himself, it must mean he doesn't want to be the one to throw the first punch. It's possible that he's afraid of getting reprimanded by Freeza for starting the fight. He can feign ignorance if his words happen to lead to a fight. He could just say he was speaking his mind and one thing led to another. Unfortunately for Cui, Vegeta knows two facts which will help him defuse this situation without throwing a single punch.

Vegeta smirked and then got up from his seat and then turned to Cui. Vegeta then said, "So you want a fight? I'm willing, we can settle this "Rivalry" here and now." Vegeta placed his clenched fist in front of Cui who's expression immediately dropped into a worried frown. He took a step back and said nothing in response. Vegeta knew that if directly challenged Cui would lose his nerve. Cui was planning on inciting a brawl, not a one on one fight with Vegeta. The former can be blamed on the Saiyans, while the latter however would share blame with Cui. The second fact was that Freeza's army was full of hot blooded bastards who loved watching a good bar fight. The crowd suddenly started chanting and cheering, "Yeah, turn that smug bastard black and blue!" and, "Beat his face in!"

Cui suddenly jerked his head left and right as the crowd began to yell for them to bat it out. Cui didn't expect Vegeta would actually be in favor of a one on one. With the crowd supporting the fight, Cui's panicked state prevented him from realizing that Vegeta was bluffing. Sensing he's being pushed into a corner, Cui fakes a look of confidence and says, "Fortunately for you, Prince, I have a tough assignment coming up and I can't waste my stamina on you." The crowd suddenly let out a mix of frustrated groans and disappointed yells, "Oh come on!"

Before they knew it the crowd began to calm down and return to eating their meals. Seeking to change topics before Vegeta could mock him for backing down, Cui says, "Anyway where's that long haired guy, did he die on you or something?" Kakarot gives Cui the side eye at the mention of Raditz dying but Cui either didn't notice or didn't care. Nappa says in reply, "That chump went off on his own mission." Nappa then strokes his mustache and says, "He should be arriving there about now, right?." Kakarot added, "Yeah, he should be arrivin' on this "Earth" any day now." Vegeta looks back at Cui and says, "Was there anything else you needed Cui?"

Cui nervously says, "No, nothing." Vegeta then says as Cui is walking away from them, "After this "vacation" is over, we can settle our "rivalry"." Vegeta laughs while putting a mocking emphasis on the word rivalry. Cui grumbles as he returns to his table leaving the Saiyans to finish their dinner. After Dinner Kakarot left to get his weekly eight hour Healing Chamber session over with. Vegeta stuck with Nappa who decided to visit a bar figuring Nappa would be more likely to cause trouble than Kakarot being stuck inside a healing machine. Kakarot arrived at the medical facility and soaked inside a Healing Chamber for a full eight hours before returning to his room for the night; these eight hours were uneventful.

Once Kakarot got to his room he took a quick rinse before putting on some night clothes, specifically a black skin tight, full body suit, like Vegetas. Kakarot doesn't tend to like these types of apparel but he doesn't have any other option. Suddenly the computer console comes to life and Kakarot rushes at top speed for it. Kakarot presses a couple buttons and suddenly a familiar voice speaks from the speaker of this console. "Kakarot, hello? Are you there?" Raditz speaks through the speaker of the console with an uncertain tone in his voice.

Kakarot tries to talk but Raditz doesn't seem to hear him. While Kakarot tries to get the computers built-in mic working Raditz spoke under his breath, "Scouter to console communication has always been a headache." Raditz wanted to talk to Kakarot through his Scouter but Kakarot didn't answer since he was in the shower. The console was his next best option, he had been given the information to connect to it by Kakarot through a message a month ago. Kakarot finally pressed the right button and said, "Do you hear me now?" Raditz suddenly said with a little excitement in his voice, "There you are! You're coming through loud and clear, brother." After a few greetings and small talk Kakarot got onto the topic of "Earth".

Kakarot asks, "When did you get there?" Raditz immediately answered, "I got here a few hours ago, I wanted to survey the land and get started, given my strict schedule. This planet's population is much larger than I originally thought it would be." Raditz went into greater detail about the Earth. He talked about how the population of this planet was much higher than Prune, there being multiple major cities and an even greater number of small towns. He mentioned how the plant life was primarily green, a much more common color compared to the rare black plants of Prune.

Raditz shifted to the topic of the lifeforms that were populating the blue world. Kakarot asked, "What are the creatures there like, what species has populated so much of this world?" Raditz with a disappointed sigh said, "Unfortunately their humanoids, like us." Kakarot responded with a confused, "What?" Raditz understood that Kakarot didn't get the whole picture so he clarified, "If it wasn't for their lack of tails, colorful hair or gentler features these people could be mistaken for Saiyans." Kakarot let out a disappointed groan saying, "Damn it, I was hoping for something more… fantastical I guess."

Raditz then added, "I know what you mean. Their technology is almost ancient as well, they're technologically primitive. The most advanced tech they have are flying vehicles. Beyond that they are still using ballistic weaponry, I doubt they even know what Ki is."

Kakarot then asked, "What are they called?" Raditz answered with, "I'm not quite sure but one of the farmers said I wasn't Human." I guess human is the name." Kakarot groaned again saying, "They just took "human" out of "humanoid"." Kakarot let out one last disappointed groan but then switched to asking about Raditz's progress.

Raditz spoke in a hopeful and victorious tone, "I landed near what looked like a farming village. I fought a few of the locals before destroying the area. I also took care of one of the major cities, it was surprisingly easy." Raditz's tone suddenly lowered as if he was nervous, "Their normal power level is as Freeza told me, the standard one is a mere five, and they haven't even investigated this destroyed village yet." Raditz suddenly spoke in a confused tone, "I couldn't find many above ten, It's…it's too easy. I can't help but feel like this is out of character for Freeza." Kakarot understand the confusion and says, "This isn't normal for Freeza, especially considerin' this mission is supposed to be a punishment."

Raditz then adds, "There's even a moon orbiting this planet and it's a big one. It just feels way too convenient of a world." "I wonder what… huh, what's that?" In the middle of Raditz's sentence he switched to a more serious tone. Kakarot was in the middle of saying, "What going-" Suddenly the console lets out a loud and startling boom sound only to be cut off by static. Kakarot desperately says, "Raditz? Brother, do you hear me, brother!?" Kakarot only hears static from this point forward and the connection is shut off.
