The Saiyan Gamer

Exactly two weeks after I confronted Bardock, I decided to go through with my plan. I tested out just how strong Bardock's guards were, and while they weren't significantly stronger than me individually, once one knew that I was trying to escape, very quickly I was being ganged up on. The only way to escape was through my plan.

I met Luna at the entrance of my shop, after sending Zaria outside of the city to find her. The Saiyans in Rucco City didn't take kindly to Meta-Wolves, so Luna and her small colony of surviving Meta-Wolves were living and hunting around the city. I hadn't seen her since we got here, both of us were too busy to bother.

However, she was essential to my plan.

"You want me to what?" She asked, surprised.

"I need you to stay behind and continue to run the shop," I told her. "Well, Rue will be running it mostly. You'll just be there to craft the armor and stuff. To make sure we don't run out."

"And what do I get from this agreement?" She asked.

"You can eat as much metal as you want?" I suggested. "As long as you don't run out of stuff for the customers."

She sneered at me. "You'd think me so lowly to be bribed by food? I'm not some common animal."

"Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you, I just hadn't thought about it," I sighed as I tried to think of an alternative. Honestly, I'd expected her to help me out just because I forgot that she had her own life too.

"How about this? You let me borrow that book on getting stronger and we have a deal," She suggested, to my surprise.

"Experience points aren't fast enough for you either?" I asked.

"It's not just for me. I'm trying to improve the strength of my pack," She informed me. "Waiting for them to get stronger naturally would take too long."

"Are you planning on using them for something?"

"Not anything in particular. But the planet is getting more hostile, so we must grow to match it. The attack in Mossgrove opened my eyes," She said. I shared that sentiment.

"Alright. We have a deal," I said, the book appearing in my hand. I put it on the ground in front of me, and she put her paw on it, absorbing it into her safe place.

"Good luck."

Kakarot looked peaceful as he slept. I stood over his bed in silence, watching and waiting, as if he'd wake up just due to my presence. Uncomfortable feelings welled up in my chest but I shoved them down with skilled precision.

"The nurses say that he should wake up soon," Jitsuki's voice came from the other side of the room. I turned to face him, surprised that he was even here.

"Hopefully," I replied.

"He's a tough one. If what Turles told me about the kid is true, something like that wouldn't kill him," He told me, obviously trying to reassure me, without any success.

"Yeah…" I replied, turning my attention back to Kakarot. "Listen, I'm going to be gone for a while so I won't be visiting. If Kakarot wakes up, tell him that I'm sorry."

"Where are you going?" He asked, his eyebrows furrowing. When I didn't reply, he got the message. "Does Bardock know?"

"Would you tell him if he didn't?" I looked over my shoulder at him. Very quickly he shook his head.

"Of course not. He's long gone now, anyway," He answered.

"The promise?" I asked.

"When he wakes up, I'll be sure to carry it forward," He said to my relief. "Can you do me one favor?"

"What is it?"

"If you find my sister, tell her where I am," He requested, and I nodded.

"It's a large planet, but if I find her, I will," I promised him. He seemed satisfied with that.

"What are you doing here?"

The voice felt like a punch in the chest. I turned to look at Turles, his face stern as he glared at me. I frowned, the tension in the room growing with each passing second. Slowly, he entered and walked over to me, until we were face to face.

"You don't have any right to be here after what you did," He said. "Leave."

I wanted to say something, but nothing came to me. I turned to Jitsuki and offered him a nod, before heading to the exit. He just gave me a sympathetic smile in return.

"Alright Mr. Aka, Since you've already created the equipment, we'll be goi-"

I knocked out the delivery guy with a quick chop to the neck, watching as he fell to the ground at my feet. Swiftly, I put a hand on his clothing and it vanished into my safe place, before appearing on my body. I looked to my left, at two small Meta-Wolves who watched me in anticipation.

"Drag him back to your den but don't kill him. You can release him in a week or so," I ordered them. They nodded their heads before obeying. Luna had given them express orders to listen to me.

Once they were gone, I began my work. There were ten delivery drivers, each truck carrying its load of armor to different squadrons on the front line. Using Tuffle vehicles was still a necessity, even if most would have preferred not to use them. I loaded up all of the necessary armor, before climbing into the cockpit and turning it on.

My plan was simple. Luna would take my place at the shop and continue the business, while I would take the place of one of the delivery drivers and deliver the armor, along with myself, to one of the outposts. The planet was massive, so the chances of me running into someone who knew who I was, were very unlikely. But just in case…

I pulled out a small mirror and examined my dyed black hair, which was gelled to the side. Despite it just being a color change and a new style, it served as a decent disguise. I put away the mirror and stretched my back, before beginning to plan my route. Once that was done, and the ship was already on its way, I leaned back in the chair and sighed.

I was about halfway to the destination when I took a look at my minimap and noticed something.

"What the fuck are you guys doing here?" I growled loudly as I stared into what looked like space. There was silence before everything shimmered and several people appeared out of thin air.

"What's it look like?" Root asked as he sat opposite me with his arms crossed. Next to him was Zaria, and Rue. The soft essence of Zaria's magic wafted through the air, before disappearing completely.

"You guys are so fucking stubborn!" I clenched my fists as I glared at them. "I didn't want you guys coming with me!"

"But your reason is stupid," Root frowned deeply, challenging me further. "We can take care of ourselves."

I scanned the faces of the group until my eyes met Zaria's. With an absolute lack of remorse, she said, "You have a better chance of succeeding in the plan if you have help."

"I'm going to have help. When I get there I'll be joining whatever division that I'm delivering to," I argued.

"That's not the same. We're people you know and trust," She challenged me.

"That's what makes it worse," I shook my head and turned to Rue. "And why are you here? You're supposed to be staying behind to take care of the shop."

"Don't worry about that. One of the other Omato refugees was willing to help," Rue rubbed the back of his head sheepishly.

"You're still training, you're not ready to go out there yet," I groaned. The thought of all of them dying out there made me feel queasy, the visions from my nightmares becoming all the more real.

"We've been prepared for this. You said so yourself. The whole point of us being sent on those purge missions was for us to be strong enough for this," Root continued the argument against me. "I haven't been working my ass off getting stronger just to sit on the sidelines."

"I…" I grumbled under my breath and threw my hands into the air. "You know what, do what you want."

"We were going to anyway," Root smirked, victorious.

I couldn't argue anymore, my nausea becoming unbearable. Instead, I sulked in complete silence, ignoring them as best I could until we began to approach our destination. It was raining heavily, but even from a great distance, I could see what looked like several quickly constructed outposts and large, solar lights.

"Looks like we're almost there," Root said as he stood up and stretched. "Are you re-"

My eyes narrowed considerably as I looked down at my map. "Shit! Everybody get out! Now!"

Four red dots streamed across my mini-map, heading directly for us. They listened without hesitation, and the moment that we smashed the back of the ship open and escaped, it was destroyed in a hail of gunfire. A larger-than-average Tuffle ship hovered above us in the sky, their lights trained on us. There were only four of them inside, not including the pilot.

"Don't resist!" A loud voice from the ship shouted, and even as it did, the turrets at the front of it were already beginning to spin.

With only four of them, it was likely that this attack was planned and they'd only be anticipating having to fight one Saiyan; the Driver. But against four angry Saiyans?

My armor appeared around me as I dashed through the air, before swinging up when I was below the ship. It moved accordingly, bullets spraying behind me as I moved. Good, they're attacking me first because I am the most aggressive.

An ordinary sword materialized in my hand. It was strong, made from the strongest metal that I could find in the city, but still nothing compared to the Fang of Flame. Once I was below the vessel, I flew straight up, aiming to pierce through it and into the driver's seat.

Before I reached it, though, it was slammed by a barrage of Ki attacks, knocking it off balance and out of my range. I hissed as the ship turned to my unarmored friends, and immediately my heart skipped a beat.

"NO!"

Instinctively, I activated both [Lightweight] and [Meteor Fist], and a second later, I'd smashed right through the side of the ship, into the cockpit.

"Wha-"

My fingers dug into the armored neck of the Tuffle closest to me and mercilessly threw him out of the hole that I'd just made. A second later, I was onto the second one before they knew what hit them. My sword came up in a flash, severing their arm, before Ki bubbled at my mouth and I released a King's Spear that washed over all of them.

It didn't hurt them due to their armor, but that wasn't my goal. The ship's controls sparked, before exploding and sending the whole thing spiralling to the ground. I leaped out of the ship the moment my attack ended, but not before several bullets dented my armor.

The Tuffle ship exploded in a bright explosion of light, and the Tuffles emerged a few seconds later, unscathed. The remaining three shouted to each other, trying to find us, but by then it was too late.

Root came down like a feral animal, slamming one into the ground and wailing on him. The other two turned to fire on him, but one immediately fell to the ground asleep, and the other was kicked hard enough by Rue that his bullets missed its target completely. Rue slammed a ki ball into the Tuffle's chest, blasting him towards me. Pooling Ki into my arms, I speared right through the Tuffle taking their heart out in one fluid motion.

"Told you, we can handle ourselves," Root said as he stood up from his victim, his hands bloodied. "Looks like you're the one who needs help."

I looked down at my slightly damaged armor and rolled my eyes. "Alright, let's get g-"

A massive crash not too far behind me shook the ground, and when I turned, a goliath of a Saiyan stood before me. Underneath his foot was a Tuffle, who was crushed by the impact. I narrowed my eyes at the man, despite immediately recognizing him.

Nappa Character sheet

Level 26

Commander

Nappa

Species - Saiyan

Gender - Male

Age - 50

Reputation - Liked (Sprout). Neutral (Disguise)

Power Level - 3380

Nappa was born into a family that has served the Sansei family for centuries. Nappa was selected to be a playmate of Vegeta the 4th, and due to Nappa's lack of intelligence, they got along. They've been 'friends' ever since, which grants Nappa privileges that he wouldn't have otherwise had.

He currently thinks that you're the delivery driver.

It would be my luck to find someone I know.

"Always pay attention to your surroundings," He said, a blank expression on his face as he examined us. Slowly, he approached, his eyes narrowing as he got closer. "Why is there more than one of you? Usually, there is only one."

"Umm, I was told I could bring along some friends, so…?" I lied, unconvincing if his face was anything to go by.

"Yeah right. I get it, you young ones want to do more than just sit on your asses. Well, you've come to the right place," He straightened out and grinned widely.

"So we can fight with you?" I asked, feeling relieved.

"Of course, we need all the help we can get," He said before suddenly his eyes narrowed. "You sound familiar."'

"I don't believe we've met," I lied. His eyes stayed narrowed and he turned his head to look at Zaria.

"And you look familiar," He hummed. After staring for a few seconds, he crossed his arms. "You're the girl who was running with the Juggernaught crew, aren't you?"

I reached for my sword slowly, only stopping when he said, "But you also helped that white-haired kid save us. Where is he now, anyway?"

I sighed quietly as Zaria replied. "He's back at Keystone City."

"Ah alright. Be sure to thank him if you get out of here alive," He said, his eyes scanning me one more time before he turned back to the town. "Let's head back, it isn't safe out here."

Once we were in the air flying back to the base, I spoke up. "So, how are things out here? From the reports I've heard, not so good."

"That would be an understatement," He mumbled loudly. "They've advanced considerably since the last war. Now, each of their bases has a shield barrier around it. No matter what we throw at it, it just won't break."

"And that's been the case across the entire planet?" I asked.

"Mostly, but not quite. I've heard there are a few who've managed to break through," He explained.

"So what are they doing?" I continued questioning, flying up so that I was next to him. "Apart from blowing up your deliveries that is."

"Just the usual," He said simply as if I would understand what that meant. I looked to him for further explanation, but he did not elaborate.

We touched down in the base not long after. The town resembled Omato Village more than it did Brucco. It looked like they were once surrounded by large walls that would have easily been 40 feet, but they were little more than rubble now. The streets were empty, and while most of the buildings stood, some of them were broken.

Nappa turned to face us, a stern expression on his face. "Come to that large building tomorrow morning and I'll assign you something to do. For now, get comfortable and wait for instruction."

And just like that, he was gone.

"For a second I thought he was going to send us back," Rue chuckled awkwardly.

"If he tried, I would've had to do something I'd rather not," I sighed, not to their surprise. "This might be my only chance to stay out here. Once someone complains that Luna is running the shop, Bardock will probably investigate and then it's only a matter of time until he comes."

"It should still be some time. Bardock wouldn't leave his post just to make sure that you're in Keystone. That would be leaving his squad to die," Root said. "Besides, that black hair makes you look different."

"Good point," I replied. "We should be fine. At least for now."

"Well, I'm going to go explore this place. Maybe I'll find an abandoned candy shop or something," Root said, as he began walking off.

"Be careful!" I shouted out to him.

"I should be saying that to you. I'm the stronger one still, remember?" He smirked over his shoulder, before disappearing into a shop.

"Exploring doesn't sound like a bad idea. We can meet the other soldiers," I turned to Zaria and Rue, who nodded back to me.

What we found wasn't comforting.

The moment we walked into the building that had the most soldiers, we were hit with the scent of death. Bodies lay all over the place, but they weren't just ordinary bodies. Every dead body that we found was deformed, pale, and looked just like those infected Saiyans back at Omato Village. All of their heads were destroyed.

The building was like a massive bedroom with beds that lined every wall. People were talking, playing with cards, and arguing in separate groups. As we approached the closest person, the situation became clearer.

Level 10

Kizoku

Species - Saiyan

Gender - Male

Age - 16

Reputation - Neutral

Power Level - 600

Kizoku was born from two low-level Saiyans, and it doesn't look like he'll break that trend anytime soon. They've barely avoided becoming servants by replacing their strength with money. Despite being weak by current Saiyan standards, Kizoku is determined to be useful in any way possible.

He was the first to realize, and report to Nappa, that the Truffles had been destroying their food and armor supplies. Not much has changed since then.

He has no impression of you.

He is slightly worried that you're going to cause him trouble.

They haven't just been destroying the armor supplies… I waited until the clearly starved Saiyan teen looked up at me. They're destroying any supplies that are coming in…

"What do you want?" He asked, his eyes bouncing between us cautiously. His skin was brown, the darkest that I'd seen on a Saiyan, with black hair and eyes.

"Don't worry, we aren't here to hurt you," I answered as I looked past him at the dozens of other soldiers. They all looked equally as miserable. "We just got here."

"Yeah fucking right," He narrowed his eyes at me. "I'm not in the mood for a fight. Just leave me alone."

"We just want to know what's been going on around here," I pressed on, which only aggravated him further. I took a step closer to him and he growled up at me.

"Isn't it obvious?" He asked, waving his hand behind him at all of the other soldiers. "We're just dying slowly and Nappa isn't doing shit!"

"That's Commander Nappa to you," Another voice came from a few feet away. I turned to see another black-haired Saiyan watching us. He looked equally as haggard, and as he began approaching, he adjusted red goggles on his head. The closer that he got, the sooner I realized that his whole outfit was red, and not by design.

Level 13

Scalli

Species - Saiyan

Gender - Male

Age - 17

Reputation - Neutral

Power Level - 1050

Scalli is a part of a middle-class family, the first of his family. He was raised to respect the Saiyan Class system to a fault. He returned from his mission as a master of hand-to-hand combat, but with the handicap that his ki blasts are more limited than most.

He is interested in your appearance.

He is annoyed that Kizoku is trying to undermine Nappa.

"Commander Nappa, bald-giant, it doesn't matter!" Kizoku turned to face Scalli, and the way that they glared at each other, it was obvious that they'd had confrontations before. "He came here, and he hasn't done shit! We'd be just as dead if he was on another planet!"

"He has a plan," Scalli rolled his eyes as if what Kizoku said didn't make any sense at all. "He wouldn't be a Commander if he didn't have a plan."

"He's not even an elite! The only reason he's a commander is because he's friends with War Chief Vegeta!"

I listened to their squabbling for another few minutes before I took a deep breath and stepped in between them. They were right about ready to throw hands at each other, and if everyone in this building was as easily irritable as these two, I didn't want to have to introduce myself to anyone else.

"It's obvious that you both have different views, and I'd like to hear them both," I said, only for them both to look at me in annoyance.

"Who said you could give orders around here?" Scalli scoffed.

"Yeah, didn't I tell you to fuck off already?" Kizoku followed, his eyes narrowed.

Okay, I guess it's time to try a new tactic. I narrowed my eyes right back at him and my Ki reacted with my emotions. Ki circled me like coils, and the floor beneath me cracked. I watched as their facial expressions shifted from angry and annoyed to shocked, their scooters beeping rapidly once my full power level was read.

Saiyans respected power.

"Do I have your attention now?" I asked, and reluctantly they nodded.

Around us, I heard whispers and when I took a glance past them both, I noticed that quite a few of the other soldiers were watching us. They must have gotten the reading for my power level too, and that was fine by me.

"Now, tell me what's been going on," I ordered them both. Unfortunately, they both began speaking at the same time and quickly devolved into more arguments. I stopped them, before pointing to Kizoku and telling him to go first.

"Where do I even start?" He threw his hands up as he began pacing. "Should I start with the fact that since he's arrived to 'help us', he hasn't launched a single attack on the Tuffles? Or the part where when they launch attacks against the city, all he does is order us to stay inside and do nothing?"

He went on and on, explaining countless different reasons why Nappa was a terrible leader. He also explained what had happened up until this point. When the war began and started to spread, the Saiyans who didn't want to fight left the city, while the rest stayed and waited for the Tuffles. However, instead of a direct attack, the Tuffles were attacking in waves.

Every day just after noon, several of their ships would fly over the city, dropping bombs and shooting at whoever was outside. Their attacks were never late, nor early, and they were slowly getting worse. At first, people volunteered to deflect the bombs, but when they realized that trying to deflect the Tuffle bombs either left them with a bullet hole in their chest or their bodies exploding into pieces, they stopped volunteering. There was no honor in dying like that. Nappa then began assigning it to people.

"So, you feel like all you're doing is sitting around waiting to die?" I summarised once he'd finished.

"Exactly!" Kizoku nodded his head, a crazed look in his eyes. "He doesn't know what he's doing."

I turned to Scalli and raised an eyebrow. "So, what's your opinion then?"

The slightly older teen crossed his arms over his chest and raised his nose to the sky. "Nappa is a commander for a reason. He has a plan, I don't doubt that."

"But is anything that Kizoku said wrong?" I asked. He seemed to stutter, turning away from me and rolling his eyes.

"W-Well no, but that doesn't change the fact that Nappa has a plan."

I wasn't so sure. But then again, I just got here. Taking any opinion without waiting to confirm either would be rash and in a war, there wasn't any time to be rash or careless. Eventually, I decided on what I wanted to do.

"We'll wait," I decided, turning back to Rue and Zaria. "We will listen to whatever he wants us to do, and if he doesn't do anything significant, we'll do something about it."

"Sounds good to me," Rue nodded his head, before turning to Zaria. She seemed bothered by something though, and walked past me towards the two guys.

"So you said that the Tuffles have been attacking with their ships and destroying shipments, but you never told us how these…" She paused to point at one of the infected corpses, before continuing, "... Got here."

Scalli eyed her for a few seconds, looking as if he wanted to argue some more, but whatever he saw on my face when he turned to me changed his mind. Eventually, he said, "They weren't put here… They're us."

"We know. They're us but infected somehow," I said. "But I mean, how did they get here if they've only been attacking with ships?"

I'd been curious about the infected Saiyans and on my long nights, I thought of them often. They first came from underground and could infect other Saiyans by biting them. It seemed simple, but one thing threw that theory out of the window. Root and I saw a Saiyan fall from the sky after being shot, and transform right in front of us. He hadn't been bitten, just killed.

What it implied was crazy, but I wasn't sure if it was true yet. Hopefully, these guys would be the missing piece.

"Whenever one of us dies, we've been turning into them," Scalli explained, confirming what I'd seen.

"But why?" Rue asked, confused. "Saiyans aren't supposed to do that when they die."

"We don't know yet," Scalli shrugged his shoulders. "But we have figured out a solution. If you destroy their head before they fully transform, it stops the transformation."

I nodded my head as I listened, and thought. They must have been infecting us beforehand, but I had no idea how. However they were doing it, it wasn't enough to transform a Saiyan right away, and it was discreet enough that no one noticed. Whatever it was, I'd need to find it as soon as possible.

"Alright. Thank you for getting us back to speed," I thanked both Scalli and Kizoku. They nodded their heads in response before I walked past them.

Certain people were still watching me from my display of power, and by the time I got to the center of the room, even more, were staring. I let my Ki rise around my body, and soon everyone was looking at me, some curious, and some ready for a fight.

"I heard that you guys haven't had food in a while," I raised my voice so that everyone could hear me. "You can't fight without eating. Thankfully, I can help with that."

I raised my hand, for theatrics more than anything, and from the sky, pounds of Meta-Wolf flesh dropped all over the room. While I'd used the fur of the Meta-Wolves to make armor and weapons, I still had their flesh. Before the meat even hit the ground, people were fighting for it. I could already see my reputation rising.

"Alright, let's go," I sighed as I returned to my group.

"Where to?" Rue asked.

"Somewhere I can eat without risk of being bitten."
