Chris woke up suddenly. The memories came back to his mind quickly and he ran his eyes around. He had passed out from the gas and had no idea where he was.
He tried to get up, and he did, but with great difficulty. His body was heavy and his muscles were still numb.
He gasped as he sat up and looked around. He was in an apparently normal room. To his left was a double bed. In front of him was a mirror, to his right a table and a chair in front of it.
On the other side of the room, near the wall, was a closet. The room was lit only by candles on the table.
He shook his head. Whoever had taken him to that place had taken all his equipment, he had to find a way to get it back.
Not only that, but... where were his men?
He stood up after a while, leaning on the wall and remaining motionless for a few moments, until his body returned to normal.
Before he left to look for his men he scoured the room for anything. It was unlikely that his captors would leave any kind of weapon behind, but it was surprising how many things could be left behind that could serve the same purpose.
But, as expected, nothing. He searched the closet, the desk drawers, under the bed... nothing. He shook his head, it wasn't the first time something like this had happened.
He walked to the door and sighed when he saw that it was locked. He took a step back and kicked the door with everything he had. The wooden structure shook and a loud noise echoed through the room.
Chris kicked the door again and the door latches snapped, the structure collapsing with a loud thud.
Who's the master of unlocking now, huh?
He left the room and ran his eyes around the place. Ahead of him was a corridor that continued a few meters and turned right at the end. Next to him, another corridor that also went straight with a closed door in front, and in the middle, diverged to the right.
That place was probably the crew's quarters. If he woke up in one, it was likely that his men would also be in other rooms.
He walked toward the door at the end of the corridor. His footsteps echoed down the empty hallway.
"Marco! Vittorio! Is anyone there?!" He shouted, slamming the door hard and waiting for some response.
For a few moments, he heard nothing, which made him somewhat distressed. He had already lost too many men.
Just as he was about to walk away, he heard what sounded like a grunt coming from the locked room.
"Argh... Captain." One of his men called out, it was Vittorio. Great, so he was alive. The last thing he saw was those bone stakes stuck in his body.
"Vittorio! What's your situation? Are you all right? Are the others with you?!" He asked, trying to open the door, but soon preparing to kick it down when he saw that it was also locked.
"No... I'm alone... the effect of the herbs has worn off, but I think I'm fine." Vittorio replied, and Chris could hear some footsteps approaching the door.
"I'm going to break this door down. My room was empty, any weapons with you?" Chris asked, listening to the man's footsteps continue to approach.
"Yes, I found a knife here. I don't think you need to break down the door, I can unlock it with the knife." He said, and Chris grunted in understanding. Great, no need to make any more noise then.
However, noise was exactly what saved him at that moment. He heard something similar to a groan coming from behind him.
He turned around, his eyes widened, and he grumbled loudly as he saw an Ooze approaching.
"Ah, shit!" He exclaimed, looking around for something he could use as a weapon. Nothing. Well, his fists would have to do then.
"Captain, what is it?!" Vittorio asked, and Chris moved into attack position. The Ooze walked awkwardly and was a bit slow, though deadly with all those bone stakes and that tongue sticking out of its esophagus. He had a chance to defeat that thing if he could pull out one of those bone stakes.
"One of those creatures is here!" Chris said, waiting for an opportune moment.
"Here!" Vittorio shouted, and as he looked down, Chris watched the knife slide under his legs.
He ducked and caught the blade, getting up again just in time to react when the creature attacked him.
The Ooze tried to pierce the side of Chris' body with the stakes in its hand, however, Chris deflected by throwing his torso back and quickly counterattacked.
The soldier kicked the side of the creature's leg, causing Ooze to fall. He then tried to stab the knife into that B.O.W.'s head, but the creature seemed to use that position as a form of hunting, for in moments, Ooze leaped towards Chris. However, the soldier was quicker and took a step to the side while sending his leg towards the creature's head, kicking it hard enough to send it back to the ground and making it possible for him to kill it with the knife.
However, that creature was not alone, another Ooze appeared just ahead, raising both arms to kill him.
Chris dodged it by throwing his body to the side and countered with a punch to the creature's head, breaking some of its long teeth and causing it to stagger backwards.
The Ooze, however, due to the momentum of its movement, attempted a bottom-up attack with its arm, causing Chris to cancel his attack and take a few steps back.
The creature then leapt towards him, fast enough that Chris had no way to dodge in that small space and fell to the ground.
Redfield grunted as he felt the creature towering over him and his eyes widened as he saw that leech-like tongue emerge from the creature's mouth.
He gritted his teeth and quickly stabbed his knife into Ooze's head, causing the tongue to retract. He pulled the knife out again and stabbed it once more, stepping back and kicking the creature off of him.
Chris stood up quickly and kicked Ooze's head, leaving the stunned creature vulnerable for a stab to the side of its neck, and finally, to the center of its head, killing it.
Chris pushed the Ooze's body aside and sighed. That was a common variant, and all things considered, it was the easiest variant to kill.
But that didn't mean it wasn't a dangerous variant.
Before he could even turn around, he heard what sounded like Vittorio's scream.
"Argh! Captain!" He shouted, and Chris ran toward the door.
"Vittorio! What is it?!" He shouted back, hearing the characteristic roar of an Ooze. Chris gritted his teeth and threw the knife under the door. "The knife, Vittorio! Get the knife!"
It didn't seem that his soldier heard him, something fell to the floor, a scream was heard followed by grunts. It sounded like he was drowning or something.
Chris took momentum, his heart was beating hard and anger, as well as frustration, were growing in his chest. He ran towards the door and kicked it down.
As he entered the room, his eyes fell upon the scene in front of him. An Ooze had both arms stretched out around Vittorio's body, its bone stakes piercing the soldier's body as its tongue sucked out all the blood he had.
Behind the creature, the bars of the ventilation duct just above.
Chris grabbed the knife and screamed as he ran towards the creature. He shoved it with his shoulder until he made it crash into the wall, making the Ooze let go of the soldier in the process.
Chris slashed at the creature's upper thigh, causing it to drop to its knees. He grabbed Ooze's head and gave it a strong knee strike, stunning it and giving the creature no chance to react to the several stabs coming from the Redfield.
He threw the creature's body aside and turned to his soldier, kneeling down right next to his body.
Vittorio's eyes were wide open, some small amount of blood trickling from the wound in his neck. He was gone. Dead.
Chris punched the ground and gasped heavily. The loss of soldiers was something that was normal on the battlefield, unfortunately. He would take his nametags back and pay back all the honors. But that... a trap.
They were handed over to the enemy on a platter. When he gets off that damned ship, he would find whoever did that and those infected would look like angels next to what he would do to that person.
He couldn't even take all their nametags... he couldn't take the other soldiers's.
Chris shook his head. After taking Vittorio's nametag, he stood up and looked around. From the open drawers and the messy bed, he would say that Vittorio had already searched the place, so he just left.
He walked through the empty corridors. A map would be of great help at the moment, as would some weapon other than a knife.
At a certain point, he arrived at a place that appeared to be a library. When he opened the door, the first thing he saw was a bookcase of books in front of him.
He entered the place and closed the door. The moment he did so, however, he instinctively threw his body to the side when he heard something just above him.
As soon as he did, the sound of the wall being cut echoed through the room, and Chris looked at the Hunter in front of him.
The creature roared and attacked without giving the soldier time to do anything but grip the handle of his knife. The Hunter tried a horizontal slashing attack, but Chris dodged by crouching down and tried to slash the creature. A cut from the bottom up, causing the B.O.W to move a few steps away as it was hit.
Despite that, the blade didn't do much damage. It wasn't deep enough.
The creature attacked again, leaping toward Chris. The soldier threw his body to the side, being quick enough to turn toward the creature but not quick enough to react to the next attack.
He tried to throw himself backwards, but still took part of the blow. The Hunter cut the side of Chris' face, from his right cheek to his ear. The mark of two claws present in his new wound.
The soldier roared in pain and backed away a few steps. But he soon ignored the wound and advanced against the Hunter, screaming as he approached.
The creature tried to attack him again, but Chris dodged by throwing his torso to the side and countered with a powerful punch to the Hunter's face, followed by a hook to what would be its chin and a hammer punch to the creature's head, leaving it vulnerable for Chris to stab it repeatedly in the back of the head.
However, that was not enough,. The Hunter reacted by trying to bite his arm. Chris pulled his arm back and kicked the Hunter in the chest, causing the creature to move two steps away and creating a small distance between them.
The Hunter roared. Those creatures were highly pain tolerant and could take large amounts of damage to their bodies before they died. But Chris had already stabbed enough in the head. It couldn't take many more hits.
Not to mention that the Hunter was stunned, the blood dripping from his back was times more intense than the blood dripping from Chris's face.
The soldier got into attack position with his knife and he began to circle the creature. An idea had settled in his head.
The Hunter, in turn, also began to move in a circular motion, never taking Chris out of its line of sight. At a certain point, Chris stopped moving, and so did the creature.
Hunter attacked before Chris could do anything, but that was exactly what he wanted. Moments before he was pierced by the creature's claws, he threw himself to the side and landed a kick to the Hunter's back, causing it to crash into the bookshelf, which due to the impact, swayed slightly before falling forward.
Hunter roared and prepared to strike again. But before it could do so, the bookshelf fell on top of it.
Chris took his chance and moved forward. With the Hunter on the ground, he was basically finished. Chris stabbed the creature's head until it stopped moving.
The soldier sighed and grunted in pain. He could feel the blood trickling down his cheek. His eyes stopped at his shoulder, stained red.
Fuck.
With his knife he cut off some parts of his military clothing and tied a makeshift bandage around his wound. It stung and throbbed, but at least he didn't lose his head in the attack.
Another scar for his resume.
He walked through the library until he reached the front of a door. As soon as he opened it, his eyes focused on another door at the end of the hall.
A metal door with a small window.
He walked to the door, looking for a few moments to the right at the end of the corridor, and was surprised to see his equipment inside the locked room.
Chris put the knife in his waistband and stepped away. Just one kick and the door went down. He felt as if he could break through fifty more doors like that before his anger subsided.
The soldier rummaged through the equipment there. He couldn't carry much, even if he wanted to. Too much equipment would only slow him down, and alone, on that ship, that was certainly asking to die.
He just grabbed his rifle, his pistol, all the ammunition he could carry, bandages, and a bottle of herbal mixture. He would not drink the mixture now, even though he was wounded. He would leave it for some moment of need that he would most likely pass by.
However, he did remove the clothes around his wound and put a bandage on his face. That would be enough for now.
When ready, he left the room and walked to the end of the corridor that led to another room.
Inside this room, he arched his eyebrows slightly when he saw an elevator. Great. He stepped into the elevator and pressed the button to go to the command room (bridge) on the upper floors.
When the doors closed, Chris found himself in an internal conflict. He knew that he was more than capable of completing this mission alone. Even though he had no one to watch his back, he could focus on his enemies at 100% without having to worry about anyone in his unit getting hurt.
A part of him wanted to go all the way. Without the idea of arresting Norman, and yes, killing him for good.
However, another part of him was crazy to sneak into HQ. Surprise those sons of bitches who wanted him dead.
He didn't know who it was, but he had a good advantage. A total of three people knew about that mission. O'Brian, the head of the FBC Lansdale, and of course, Jill. Not even Barry or Rebecca knew.
He grunted. It couldn't be O'Brian... he stood by his side in founding the BSAA, he could be trusted, he wouldn't do this... he couldn't... regardless, if there was the slightest chance it was him, he wouldn't hold back anyway.
Jill was out of the question. He trusted her with his life and so did she.
So that left Lansdale, and it was no secret that he was somewhat hostile toward the BSAA. He thought they were dangerous, and he never liked having them around, even though they had worked together several times. Of them all, he was the most likely to be the culprit.
The elevator doors opened and Chris raised his rifle before exiting. He made his way down a long dark corridor, turning on the flashlight at his waist as he walked.
At the end of the corridor, he turned right, passing through an already open door and into a small room that served as a changing room, by the lockers.
Before he could pass through another door there, he stopped when he heard voices ahead.
Quickly, Chris put his back to the wall right next to the door.
"You need us, Morgan. Or rather, you need what I have. Terragrigia was a failure, yes, but you know the potential that T-Abyss has. The deal remains the same. I'm doing you a favor here." A man, from the voice.
Morgan... Chris gritted his teeth, it couldn't be a coincidence. He was right. That asshole will get what he deserves.
"What happened was a... setback. I know we didn't have time to talk these past few weeks, I was busy cleaning up the BSAA mess in my labs. And I've also been investigating what happened. I don't know who, I don't know how. Someone infiltrated one of my safe houses. Whoever it was, killed my men and I have no idea what happened to Dominik." That was right, that was Norman.
Chris came out of his hiding place and slowly entered the control room.
In front, near some computer monitors, was Norman, apparently on a phone call with Morgan.
Next to him were two armed men. He didn't know who they were and didn't care.
Chris had the perfect opportunity. They had their backs to him.
He aimed his rifle at Norman's head, and just as he was about to pull the trigger, another man appeared in his line of sight. This one, closer to him, just to his right.
The man looked at him and his eyes widened, immediately screaming.
Chris grumbled loudly and fired at Norman, however, one of the men with him pushed him aside, getting hit by the shots instead.
"Fuck!" Chris cursed loudly as the men began firing in his direction, forcing him to take cover.
He raised his torso up and shot at the man trying to seek cover behind some computers of the communication system, hitting him in the chest and stomach. The moment he did, he saw Norman try to run away.
Chris changed the direction of his gun and shot at the man, hitting him also in the chest and, as far as he could see, in the heart. But he couldn't keep firing for long, as the second man appeared and fired in his direction.
The soldier took cover, but gasped slightly satisfied that he had hit Norman in the middle of the firefight.
Norman would be alive for a few moments. He had ten, fifteen seconds at most. Time enough to reflect on the shit he had done before falling to eternal suffering.
Footsteps were heard, Chris spat out some saliva, and in moments, he ran to the side and let himself slide across the floor.
As soon as he did, his rifle immediately went towards the last remaining man, hitting him several times in the chest and neck.
The man fell, and Chris kneeled and grabbed an ammo clip and reloaded his weapon. The soldier then stood up and walked briskly towards Norman's body, looking at the bodies of the fallen men for a few moments, making sure that each of them was dead.
For a few moments, before walking over to Norman, he looked at the communication system. Destroyed, caught in the gunfire. Damn it!
Well, there must be some other boat out there... there had to be. People like Norman were cautious, he must have already thought of some kind of plan B in case things went wrong.
Shaking his head, he walks over to Norman's body. There was a certain amount of blood on the floor. He had crawled a little, leaving a trail of red on the spot.
Chris snorted. So much bad has happened in the world because of that asshole on the floor. With a shake of his head Chris kicked him, it was then that he saw a vial roll across the ground.
The soldier made a confused face and took the bottle in his hand. At the bottom was the remains of a purple liquid. On top of the bottle was a syringe.
Chris's eyes widened and he pulled away when Norman's hand touched his knee. He raised his rifle, shocked by the transformation taking place before his eyes.
Norman's arm began to grow at an exponential level. His clothes began to tear due to the growth of his muscles. Norman screamed loudly, those same tongues that he saw in the Ooze appeared in his mouth and each one of them went towards the bodies. One even went toward Chris, who slashed at it with the blade on his rifle.
He fired, squeezing the trigger of his gun until his bullets ran out, but it didn't seem to have any effect.
The tongues violently pulled the bodies on the ground toward Norman, which grew larger and larger. They consumed, clothes, flesh, skin, blood, bones... everything.
Norman jumped up and crashed to the ground. The whole place shook. What had once been a slightly older man had now become a complete monster.
The creature that was Norman punched the ground, not just any punch, but a punch so hard that it made the ground give way.
Chris screamed in surprise and tried to grab onto something, but he could only try to protect his body and grunt as he felt his body crash against the ground.
Again and again Norman hit the ground, again and again, falling several levels until finally they stopped.
Chris coughed a few times, feeling chunks of concrete fall on him and the sharp pain in his back. He tried to stand up, staggering a few times until he could stand, and raised his rifle again at the creature in front of him.
There was nothing that reminded Norman in it. It was a totally different creature. That thing was huge, there were two limbs on its back that resembled finned wings. Its skin had turned dark. Its face was nothing but a huge eye with a mouth with sharp teeth. His hands had long claws and fins between his fingers. In its chest, its exposed heart was beating strongly.
That thing must be just as lethal on land as it possibly was in the water.
"What the fuck..." Chris grumbled, watching a few Ooze appear on the scene, as well as that same creature with a saw in place of its hand.
Being truthful, his situation was not very good at the moment.
Norman... or what had once been Norman, focused his one eye on Chris, and then, roared. A deafening roar that disturbed even the infected around him. So loud that it made the ground seem to shake.
Chris removed his hands from his ears as the roar passed, and taking a deep breath, he prepared himself for what could very well be the last battle of his life.
Jill and Parker made their way down the hall stairs, following the sound of roars, destruction, and gunfire. Distress coursed through their chests as they ran.
The floor shook again, they heard the sound of a saw mixed with a roar.
Opening a double door, they descended long stairs and reached the promenade deck. What they saw ahead made them both stand paralyzed for a few moments.
There were some Ooze approaching a man, who was clearly Chris, running ahead. A huge monster with a saw attached to its arm was attacking the man, who dodged to the side and threw a grenade on the ground, running away before the grenade exploded.
But what caught both of their attention was the huge humanoid creature. Just before the grenade exploded, those flesh wings on its back beat violently against one another, and a deafening noise disturbed both the agents and the infected.
And in moments, the creature was far away from the explosion, close to Chris, about to attack him with its huge arm.
Chris dodged, barely, and the ground shook from the force of the creature.
"What the fuck is that?! Did you see that? That thing just teleported!" Parker shouted, startled and surprised. Jill didn't respond, as shocked as her partner.
"Whatever that thing is, we have to help Chris." Jill said, running her eyes around.
On either side were stairs leading up to the second floor of the place.
She nodded to Parker and waved to the stairs on the left as she climbed the stairs on the right.
There were two Ooze in that bar. One by the window, the other by the counter. The one by the window had his arm extended toward the floor below, his body was protected by bones in certain parts, unlike the other mutations, this one shot bones with more precision and cadence.
Jill shot at that creature, hitting it in the back of the head. Out of the corner of her eye she could see the other Ooze approaching.
The creature near the window raised its arm toward her and shot three bone stakes in a row. Jill dodged as she threw herself forward, rolling on the ground and coming face to face with the other Ooze.
The creature attacked her with its arm. A blow from top to bottom. Jill jumped over the counter, dodging the attack, and kicked the back of the Ooze's leg, bringing it to its knees. She then put her pistol into the creature's mouth and fired, turning around and firing at the other Ooze, killing both creatures.
She then ran toward the door and watched the saw creature run toward Chris.
She raised her pistol and fired at the creature just before it attacked Chris, causing the monster to miss its attack.
Chris was surprised for a few moments, looking toward the one who had helped him.
"Get out of there!" Jill shouted, shooting at the huge creature that leaped at great speed toward him.
Chris dodged to the side, managing to dodge a deadly attack, but not being fast enough to dodge a blow with the back of its hand, causing him to literally fly backwards and fall to the ground in a loud thud.
"Chris!" Jill shouted for his name, watching Parker shoot at the Ooze near him. With that, she turned to the monster below. The creature had only a single eye, and was now staring at where Jill was standing.
She shot at the creature, hitting the eye in its head, but her bullets seemed to have no effect, the creature just didn't seem to feel the damage done.
Jill gritted her teeth as she saw the creature leap towards her. She turned and took off running, grunting as she felt the ground shake and the sound of destruction follow right behind her.
The woman looked back. The wall was destroyed. That creature passed through the concrete like it was nothing, the huge eye still focused on her.
Jill reached for a grenade, but before she could even remove the pin from the grenade, the huge wings on the creature's back flapped again, that same deafening noise dulled her senses.
Jill grunted... she blinked. The creature was already in front of her, the huge arm raised to attack her. Jill's eyes widened. The ground shook as the creature teleported in front of her, making it difficult for her to dodge.
She was going to die...
However, the sound of a magnum echoed through the room. The creature took two steps backward as the bullet struck the exposed heart in its chest.
Another shot echoed through the scene. The creature jumped back, its arm raised to protect itself from the shots. However, due to the earlier destruction, the concrete below its feet gave way, and the creature fell to the floor below.
"Second time already, Valentine." That same man with the mask said, approaching in stride, Magnum steady in his hand. "Should I keep score?" He said, looking at her for a few moments, until he looked away to the monster below that was already rising.
"I hope not. But thank you, sir..." She left it in the air, waiting for him to say his name. He just raised his Magnum to the monster below, not even looking like he had heard her.
"Names don't matter at the moment. Just know that I'm here to help, that's enough." He said, firing once more at the creature.
The monster raised its arm to protect itself from the shots. The flesh wings on its back slapped against each other, that deafening noise returned.
They walked away with their hands to their ears, trying somehow to protect themselves.
Chris tried to react, but the closer he got, the louder that noise seemed, and the more he felt as if his head was splitting from the inside out.
They blinked as the noise stopped. His eyes widened in surprise as he saw that there were three copies of that creature.
""What the hell?" Jill asked. She felt strange, as if she were in some kind of trance. The edges of her vision blurred slightly.
Two of those monsters went toward Chris and Parker, while another jumped toward both of them.
Jill and the man in the mask gritted their teeth and fired. However, their bullets went through, as if the creature was not there. As if it was just an illusion.
Both Jill, and the man, looked confused at the other two creatures. Chris and Parker were confused about which one to shoot. Jill clenched her eyes slightly. One of the creatures glowed its eye in purple. The other had no such thing, as did the one she had just shot.
It was as good a tip as any.
"Shoot the one that glows!" She shouted, raising her gun toward the creature.
Chris raised his rifle after she shouted. He pulled the trigger, and as soon as the bullets hit the creature, the clone next to it disappeared, and that strange feeling dissipated.
Jill picked up the rifle on her back and knelt down, at the same time the creature grabbed Parker in one of its huge hands. The woman raised her gun and fired at the monster, causing it to drop Parker in the process.
The man in the mask, seeing that she had a good position there, jumped down from up there, landing next to the saw monster, which was still alive.
The creature ran towards him, who was shooting with his Magnum. The monster then tried to cut him in half with the saw, but he deflected as he ducked and fired once more with his Magnum.
She saw an Ooze approaching from behind him, but before she could alert him, he spun his body around and landed a strong kick to the creature's neck, turning around again and firing once more at the saw monster, stunning it and reloading his weapon.
She tilted her neck to the side. It was clear that he could take care of himself.
She turned her attention again toward the huge creature. Chris was firing with his rifle, backing away as the monster approached with its hand in front of its exposed heart as a form of protection.
She shot the creature in the head, but despite the power of her sniper, it just didn't seem to be enough to make that thing stagger, much less react. Almost as if it didn't even feel it.
It was then that Parker jumped on the creature's back and stabbed its heart. The monster roared loudly and grabbed Parker with one of its hands, throwing him violently towards the masked man, who was not expecting it and was hit hard.
Chris pulled the pin of a grenade and threw it on the ground. The creature looked away from him to focus on where Parker had fallen.
Within moments, the wings on that monster's back slapped together, and it reappeared away from the explosion, leaping high toward Parker and the man in an attempt to crush them both.
The masked man was the first to act. He tossed a grenade high in the air and shot it while still in the air, causing an explosion that hit the creature, which had no way to deflect, and as a consequence missed its attack.
The masked man dodged it by jumping to the side, however, he probably underestimated the speed at which that creature could move.
The monster closed its fist and attempted a punch at the man, a hook. He gritted his teeth and dodged, throwing his body backwards. However, he was grabbed by the creature at an incredible speed. He would be crushed.
The man shot the creature in the head with his Magnum while, with his other hand, he stuck a knife in the thing's hand.
He managed to free himself, but that didn't stop the creature from kicking him still in the air. A kick strong enough to make all the air be expelled from his lungs. Strong enough to have certainly broken a few ribs.
He flew through the air until his back hit the wall and he fell to the floor, where he lay motionless for a few moments.
Jill gritted her teeth and aimed her rifle at the creature. However, she heard something behind her.
"Fooooound yooooouuuuu ." Rachel hummed again, and Jill turned just in time to dodge a piercing attack from the infected woman.
"Ah, why don't you die?!" Jill shouted angrily, raising her pistol, but before she could fire, the tentacles around Rachel's leg grabbed Jill's body and lifted her into the air.
With violence, Rachel threw the woman to the floor below, where Jill bounced a few times, grunting in pain as she felt her body hit the concrete. Then Rachel jumped up high, her arm reaching out to pierce her.
The woman, however, dodged as she rolled her body to the side, and she stood up with some difficulty, feeling her body aching.
"Jill! Are you okay?" Chris asked, pointing his rifle at Rachel, glancing at the woman beside him.
"Yeah. Watch out for her." Jill replied, at the same instant Rachel attacked.
They both shot at the woman who ran toward Jill. Rachel attempted a vertical attack on the woman, who dodged by throwing her torso backwards. But whatever was left of Rachel inside that thing seemed to work in tandem with the virus.
Rachel backflipped as Chris fired, dodging the bullets with agility, showing that she still had the memory of her military training days.
They both prepare for the attack. However, they were surprised when Rachel simply threw her body to the side, and it was then that they were staring at several pieces of concrete being thrown at them at great speed.
The two soldiers dodged the attack.
Jill tried to get up quickly, but Rachel's tentacles grabbed her first. She grunted as she was pulled toward the infected woman.
In reflex, Jill grabbed her knife and as soon as Rachel approached, she stabbed her in the ribs, just below her breasts. But despite that, not much effect seemed to come of it, as Rachel was still holding her.
And Jill couldn't dodge when that tongue emerging from the infected woman's head bit her on the neck, rapidly sucking her blood.
"No!" Chris shouted, shooting toward Rachel, who let go of Jill as she was hit by the bullets.
Jill staggered a little. Although she had been bitten for only a few moments, Rachel had sucked up a large amount of blood. She felt weak.
Jill raised her pistol toward Rachel, who pushed her arm away and attacked with her claws. The agent screamed in pain as she felt the claws cut into her belly. Not deep enough to kill her immediately, but deep enough to kill her if she didn't take care of it.
Chris tried to run to Jill, who fell to the ground, but he soon struggled to keep his balance when Norman started running toward him.
"Ah, give me a break!" He grumbled, picking up a light grenade and throwing it in front of Rachel.
The grenade exploded, and moments before, the fins on Norman's back slammed against each other. He disappeared for a moment, and reappeared right behind Chris, who, although he had expected it, couldn't really keep up with the speed.
But it wasn't only him who waited for Norman to do that. Just before he was attacked, a few shots hit the exposed heart of the creature, which roared loudly in pain and staggered back a few steps, kneeling on the ground.
Chris glanced at Parker, who was standing with his pistol raised, panting with one of his hands on the side of his ribs.
He changed targets, and began shooting at Rachel to get her away from Jill while Chris shot Norman in the heart.
Parker ran as fast as he could toward Jill, reloading his pistol and firing again toward Rachel, causing her to move a few steps further away, still dazed by the flash grenade.
However, she recovered, and again, the shots seemed to have no effect.
Parker gritted his teeth and increased his speed, his eyes watching intently as Rachel grabbed Jill again by the shoulders and that tongue appeared.
"Fuck! Fuuck!" he muttered loudly. It was over...
But to his surprise, Jill reacted. She grabbed a grenade and stuck it in the hole of that tongue, kicking Rachel in the stomach soon after to get some distance.
She would not make the same mistake as before.
The grenade exploded, again causing flesh, teeth, and bones to be thrown everywhere. Parker approached and helped her to her feet.
"She... will regenerate." Jill said, somewhat weakly, looking down at Rachel's fallen body. Or at least what was left.
"I know. But we'll worry about that later." Parker said, looking at the creature that was attacking Chris.
Redfield dodged a slashing attack with its claws as he ducked, he then threw himself backwards to reload his rifle.
But to the surprise of everyone there, the creature hit the ground with one hand, making the whole place shake violently and, as a consequence, making them lose their balance.
Norman again teleported away. They didn't know how he did it, but it had something to do with those fin-like wings on his back.
It reappeared behind Chris, ready to crush him, if not for the fact that the masked man jumped on the creature's back and shot the Magnum into the back of its head.
The creature staggered violently, crashing into the wall next to it, placing a hand on the side of its head. Its eye had been destroyed, but it was regenerating quickly.
The man with the mask then, with his knife, cut off one of the creature's wings. The monster roared, struggling with great violence in an attempt to remove him from its back.
The man jumped back. Chris reloaded his rifle. Jill and Parker fired at the exposed heart, causing Norman to roar again and move a few steps away.
The creature then attempted a horizontal strike at the man with its claws, but the man ducked, dodging the attack. He then counterattacked by shooting at the heart with his Magnum.
Norman roared again, putting one hand on its chest and stepping away. With the other hand, Norman planted his claws on the ground and raised it with force, throwing debris and large chunks of concrete in their direction. The man dodged it by throwing himself to the side. Chris did the same, and Parker staggered back, falling to the ground next to Jill and trying to protect his own body. He felt the debris hit his arms and legs, some of it embedded in his flesh. That hurt... and would leave a few more scars from the job.
The man in the mask reacted quickly, he ran towards Norman, who tried to punch him, but he dodged as he threw himself forward and let himself slide across the floor, shooting Norman in the side of the knee in the process, causing the creature to kneel.
He then scaled the huge back of that monstrosity and drove his knife into the middle of the thing's head, preventing the eye from regenerating and, as a consequence, causing Norman to remove the arm from the front of its exposed heart.
"Shoot the heart!" He shouted. Chris, though suspicious and somewhat confused at not knowing who that was, did as told, and shot Norman's heart.
Parker and Jill got up and got on their knees, both also shooting at the heart.
Norman roared louder and louder, his body trembling as the bullets penetrated his flesh, until at one point his heart simply exploded in blood.
A roar, both monstrous and human, echoed throughout the ship. The ground seemed to shake again, and it was so loud that the survivors seemed to hear it in their souls.
"Can't... beeeeeee..." Norman said, his monstrous voice making that not only bizarre, but frightening. His huge body fell to the ground in a loud thud that made the entire concrete shake.
Jill, panting, let herself rest, still sitting there. She closed her eyes slightly and put her gun in its holster.
Parker stood up, he lowered his gun, his eyes not leaving Norman's body, as if he was waiting for that thing to stand up again.
Chris walked towards Jill, crouched down in front of her and handed her a jar of herbal mixtures. It was going to help for the moment.
"Don't tell me they sent you guys to come rescue me." Chris said, his serious tone, though normal, was different. Maybe more serious than it used to be.
"Exactly that." Parker replied, reloading his pistol and watching the man in the mask approach.
"What the fuck! Fuck! This whole thing was a trap!" Chris exclaimed, causing both Jill and Parker to look at him with serious stares.
"Hm, you think fast, Redfield." The masked man's voice drew the gazes to him. He was placing his knife in its sheath beside his shoulder, his Magnum still in his hand. He looked fine, from what little they could make out of him. That mask seemed to hide even what his eyes wanted to say. "You seem to live up to your titles."
"And who are you?" Chris asked, his tone seemingly neutral, but everyone there knew there was a slight undertone of distrust, even threat.
The man didn't answer right away, he just picked up a tablet that somehow wasn't destroyed after he was kicked into that wall.
"I've come to help. Lansdale has a few little secrets that might interest you." He said, extending the tablet toward Chris, who looked at it still suspiciously for a while, until he took the device from the man's hands.
The more he read, the more his anger grew. E-mails and recorded audio calls proving Lansdale's connection to Norman. All the evidence was there, right in his hands.
"There's no way... no way!" Parker exclaimed, putting his hands on his head. It was no wonder, he had worked for the FBC for a long time.
"All this... how could he do this? Why?" Jill asked no one in specific, crossing her arms and shaking her head. Occasionally, she would look at Rachel's body on the floor in the hope that she had killed her for good. But deep down, she suspected that wasn't the case.
"I don't care one bit about his reason, I just know he's going to pay for this! All my men dead because of that son of a bitch!" Chris growled, controlling himself very hard not to destroy the only evidence he had to incriminate Lansdale because of his anger.
Redfield then looked at the masked man.
"How do you have this? Where did you get it?" he asked, and the man just shrugged.
"It doesn't matter. What matters is that I got it. And that you guys already know all about it." He replied, and Chris didn't seem to like that answer very much.
"It doesn't matter?! Are you kidding me?! Who the fuck are you?!" Chris asked, almost as if in an order, but the man didn't even seem to care. He didn't show any reaction... nothing. It wasn't just the mask, his body language indicated nothing.
"You are part of some organization, right? That's why you're here. Are you USSOCOM or something?" Jill asked, taking a step forward. She didn't want Chris to lose his mind at that moment. Not with someone who most likely saved their lives.
"I never said I was FBC. Who I am doesn't matter. We have the same interests, that's all." The man said, taking another device from his pocket and pressing a button. Something beeped, and the ship shuddered.
"What are you doing?" Chris asked, and the man looked at him neutrally.
"Destroying this ship." He replied, looking at the watch on his wrist. "I have a boat. Follow me." The man said, turning and walking toward the stairs ahead.
"Wait." Parker called out, causing the man to turn toward them. "Did you find anyone else around here? Maybe a man with red hair?" He asked.
"No. I'm sorry, but you're the only ones I've found. Can we go now?" He replied, turning around and giving them no further opportunity to say anything.
Jill sighed lightly, glancing over as Chris watched the man walk away with an unfriendly expression.
She couldn't really blame him. After all... she just patted him lightly on the shoulder and walked, or rather limped, in the same direction the man was going. A few moments later, Chris put her arm around his neck, helping her walk.
Ghost walked forward, his steps were steady, despite the pain he felt at the moment.
They didn't need to know much, although he was pretty sure he would see them a lot in the future.
And in the end, they left the ship.
Ghost looked at that man, Parker, sitting looking out over the ocean. He didn't know exactly who he was, but he knew he wasn't on his list.
So he was better off unaware that there was a certain red-haired spy about to blow up with the ship in the back. Killed by a stab wound to the neck.
