It was a dark and stormy night...No, I'm really not going that route. This is actually a fun story, mostly. Plus, it wasn't even stormy. How about this: It was a bright and clear night…That's worse. But maybe this: Two illuminated forms ran through the night filled streets, one pulling the other, the full moon shining down on them. But their light came from something else. It almost seemed like it was surrounding them. That's better. Where was I? Oh yes. They hadn't yet reached the city, as they were returning from the first place they had plundered, so there weren't any lamps. Suddenly, the one being pulled shouted:
"Wait!" The figure said in a young man's voice. "Slow down!"
Here's where I come in. The other figure stopped and looked at the young man with an annoyed look.
"Listen, Peter." A girl's voice said. She pulled back her mask. "You agreed that you would make sure I get extra candy because you stole my costume."
"I didn't steal it." Peter said, as he lifted up his mask. "It's just we both thought of it."
"And, you made us late because you insisted we put on that...glowy stuff."
"It's called Phosphorescence." He said with a highly irritated look. "Besides, you know that."
"I know." She said with a laugh. "I just wanted to annoy you." Peter rolled his eyes, then opened his mouth to say something, but the girl grabbed his arm again and pulled him on as she ran.
"Wait!" Peter repeated. The girl stopped.
"What is it now?"
"What do you mean we're late?" He said. "It's trick or treat, you can't really be late."
The girl opened her mouth and then closed it. She was thinking. Then she thought up a reason.
"We have to hurry and get to the Sanctum before Stephen locks it up for the night."
"Oh, come on." Said Peter. "It won't be for hours."
"Actually, I heard that he wasn't going to receive any trick or treaters after 7:00 tonight. And right now it's." She stopped to look at her watch for dramatic effect, even though she already knew what time it was. "6:32. And it takes us a while to get there, and who knows how long it will take to actually get the candy."
"I'm sure you could figure something out. You two know each other. Aren't you his apprentice or something?"
"Yes, but it's more than just an "apprentice". And I'm not sure I want to 'figure' something out." She said, with her arms crossed.
"Oh, come on London. I know you will." He said, although they both knew that this exchange was useless because Stephen doesn't take any trick or treaters. Ever. They laughed heartily.
"Fine…Let's Go!" London grabbed him again and ran.
They were almost in the city when Peter stopped her again.
"Peter, what are you doing?" Said London in an exasperated voice. "We're almost there."
"You've been dragging me all over the place. Can't we take a break? Also, we've been skipping all of the houses." Said Peter.
"That's so we can get to the good ones before it's too late. We can come back here later."
"Alright. But where were you planning on stopping first?" He asked.
"Probably the Sanctum. I mean, where else would we go?"
"I don't know. What about the Avengers Tower for the party?" London's mouth flew wide open, along with her eyes. "Don't tell me you forgot about it?"
London chuckled nervously. "Maybe?" Now it was Peter's turn to drag London. They ran through the streets until they reached the first street lamp. Suddenly, the lamp went dark and they stopped.
"London, really? You need to stop doing that." Said Peter, referring to her powers.
"I would agree with you, but I didn't do that, this time." she replied.
"What do you mean?" he asked. "Do you know any other people who can control shadows and light?"
"No." London stood deep in thought. "The other Avengers could've rigged something. I mean, some of them have powers too. Maybe it was Stephen?"
"All the way out here?"
"Maybe." She paused. "Come on, let's go!" London hauled Peter along the street again, but this time, Peter kept up and stayed beside her instead of behind. "Scared?" She asked, jokingly.
"No." he replied. "I just want to hurry and get to the Sanctum and tower."
"Now you want to hurry." She rolled her eyes. They both sped up. Peter's mask flew off and he stopped.
"Oh, wait." he said and ran back to grab it.
"Oh, come on Peter." She said, "You're Iron Man. It would be pretty embarrassing if Hydra attacked you now and you didn't have your mask."
"Yeah, well you're Spider-Man." said Peter "What would happen if somebody saw you without your mask?"
"They're just costumes."
"That's what I was trying to tell you," he said, with a sigh. "But I still think it's pretty weird that you're being Spider-Man."
"So what. I'm being you, maybe it's weird." she began. "But I also think it's weirder that you're being my Uncle."
"Ehh. Fair enough." Said Peter, but he didn't have time to say anything else. London seized him again and dashed away. They finally reached the city and stopped. They saw what they thought were hundreds of other kids running around.
"Ok, London." said Peter, and London turned her attention to him. "You should probably stop with your light thing now."
"Why?" She asked.
"You might blow your cover."
"Oh, probably not. They'll just think I have a flashlight."
"Trust me, I've had to keep my cover secret much longer than you." London rolled her eyes but smiled. She ran on as Peter followed. "Where to first?" asked Peter.
"The Sanctum. I already told you." Said London, and Peter nodded. They ran for a while then came to a dimly lit alley.
"What's this place?" Asked Peter.
"Uh." That was all London said.
"Don't tell me we're lost."
"No. We're not lost." Said London, mentally becoming annoyed with herself.
"Really London. You've been to the Sanctum countless times."
"I'm not lost." She said, "Also, I usually fly to it, sooo." Peter sighed. They walked down the alley for a while. "Aha!" Exclaimed London. She had seen a light at one end, and a possible glimpse of the Sanctum. She pulled Peter to the end of the alley, where they saw the Sanctum. She smiled, proud of herself. But it quickly faded as she saw a shadow near a street lamp. She blinked once and it disappeared. London entangled her arm in Peter's, so he couldn't stop, and she ran and pulled him towards the Sanctum. Peter was being pulled almost backwards now, so it was difficult for him to keep his balance. London, in her hurried state, passed the Sanctum door.
"Wait," said Peter. "We passed it."
"Oh, sorry." Said London. But she spun around so fast and then ran that by the time they reached the door, Peter finally lost his balance, and then toppled over London, who fell like the bridge in the old nursery rhyme. They both laughed as they struggled to get up. Peter was able to stand first and thus helped London up. They still laughed for a while, then just smiled.
"Wait a minute." Said Peter. "How were you planning on getting back to the Avengers Tower? It's pretty far away from here."
"The same way we got here. You use your webs and I fly." London simply replied.
"I'll be too exhausted at that point."
"Well, I figured that much. I was going to try to get Stephen to let me borrow my sling ring."
"I doubt he'll let you." Said Peter. "Don't you remember what happened last time?"
"Yeah, yeah. I got stuck in the middle of nowhere because I dropped my sling ring."
"Yes. And it took you a really long time to find it."
"But that was almost a year ago. I've learned so much since then."
"Alright, you can try." Said Peter, and he prepared to knock on the door. But just before he did, it swung open.
"Wow. That was very, very…"
"Creepy?" said Peter.
"Well, actually, I was going to say cliched, but either one works." They both walked in cautiously.
"Why do you think Dr. Strange is doing this?" Asked Peter.
"Not sure." She began. "It might just be a Halloween trick, or it could be a test for me. But I have no idea which one it is. So proceed with caution."
"What are you, a roadside sign?" Peter said jokingly. London chuckled a little, but knew that she had to be on her guard. She had failed far too many of these tests because she "didn't expect it." She was normally on guard, but these tests were very difficult, and the most unexpected. But this one seemed too easy to predict. They walked forward. Suddenly, green magical fire sprung up, but they weren't bright enough to allow much more clear sight at all. London saw a table up ahead. They reached it and saw London's sling ring, and a bowl of candy. There was a card which said "choose wisely." "What's that supposed to mean?" asked Peter
"I have no idea." Said London. She inspected both very carefully. She decided to conduct some tests. Using her powers, she brought some of the green fire over. As soon as she did so, it turned red and orange like regular fire, but she could tell something was different. This fire didn't give any warmth whatsoever. She tried again to bring the green fire over, but the same thing happened. She tried again, but this time, she brought it over with a shield around it, using what Stephen taught her. It stayed green. When it came to her hands, she removed the shield. The fire was still green and gave off warmth, but it was a strange kind. A chilling kind of warmth. She brought the fire close to the sling ring. It grew shiny, almost as though it started melting, and then it started glowing. She quickly drew the fire away.
"London, what are you doing?" Asked Peter.
"I'm choosing wisely." She said
"It really isn't that hard." He said.
"What would you say we should take?" Asked London.
"The sling ring. I mean, you said you needed it."
"It may not be that obvious. Don't touch anything. And why would Stephen just put it here? We both know he's not like that" London stood there, thinking.
"What's that?" Asked Peter.
"What?" London hadn't been paying attention.
"Well, two things. There's a ticking noise for one."
"Yeah, I hear it. What else?"
"There's something unusual about this candy. It doesn't look normal." Said Peter. "I mean, it almost looks like someone put random things in candy wrappers, none of these shapes are normal, the wrappers are, but not the shapes." London rolled her eyes, but then saw all of the strange shapes in the candy bowl.
"Ugh. I don't know what we should take." But just then, the clock struck 7 o'clock. Then London thought she saw a familiar shape in one of the candy wrappers. She quickly grabbed the bowl, and just as the final chime went out, the table and ring disappeared without a trace.
"Why did you do that?" asked Peter.
"I thought I saw something in the bowl." She replied, "Let's look through it." But just as they were about to do so, they heard a blood curdling scream. They both looked up with worry on their faces and then looked at each other. They stuffed the bowl in one of their bags, then began running in the direction of the scream. London tried to take what little light was in there and bring it in front of them, but it was difficult with what was on her mind. They continued running, then found a winding staircase. Just as they started climbing up, London hesitated.
"London, what is it?" asked Peter, clearly concerned.
"That scream almost sounded like Stephen. What if something happened to him? What if…"
"I'm sure he's fine, he's a supreme sorcerer. He can protect himself. But we'll never know if we don't go now." London nodded her head and they both began to run up the stairs for a while. Soon enough, but seemingly far too long to London, they reached the top floor. They saw the moon shining through the large window onto a figure lying on the floor. London quickly but cautiously approached it. Who they found there was a shocking surprise. It was Dr. Stephen Strange.
"Stephen, what happened?" Asked London, full of worry and tears welling in her eyes. But he didn't say anything. He just lay there, not moving a muscle. "Stephen?" She rolled him over so she could see his face. It looked pale and drained in the moonlight. He moaned, and relief, however small, came to London. At least he was alive. London checked for any wounds and while she was doing so, she saw green magic bonds around his hands. Almost no light was coming from them, so it was difficult to see them. London attempted using her magic to release him, and surprisingly it worked.
Peter had stood up and was searching nearby to see if there was any trace of what could have happened. "Peter." Called London. He walked over to her. Peter helped London to wake Stephen up. It was difficult at first, but after a short time, he began to move more and then finally sat up. "Stephen, what happened?" asked London. But he was still too weak to speak. He looked at her, and London saw a twinkle of green in his eye. She didn't think too much of it, she was too busy trying to figure out what happened. London asked one last time. Stephen mumbled "Loki,"
"Loki?" Asked London. "Why would he do this? I thought he wasn't going to trouble us anymore?" But just as she was saying that, Stephen stood up with a mischievous smile on his face. Then a strange green magic surrounded him. When it passed, Loki stood there in front of them. "Loki." said London and Peter at the same time.
"Yes." He said. "I am Loki. But I believe you will have other things to worry about in the very near future." He gestured behind them, and when they looked, London saw a fiery circle coming towards them. She began pulling Peter out of the way, but the circle consumed them. When it passed, they found themselves in a dark room. There was no light whatsoever. The room seemed small. London and Peter stood there, wondering what to do. London fell to her knees.
"What?" asked Peter.
"Loki was in the Sanctum," she began "Who knows what he might do and might have done to Stephen. I can't believe I didn't see it coming."
"Why would you have seen it?"
"Something about Loki when he was pretending to be Stephen was wrong, but I didn't pay any attention to it."
"It's not your fault." Said Peter. "You were worried about Stephen."
"Yes, but now we're stuck and there's nothing we can do. Loki might do something to Stephen."
"You kind of know Loki, don't you?"
"Yes." Said London.
"Would he do something like this? I'm sure he would've a while back, but you had said he changed, didn't you?"
"Yes, I did." Said London, realizing something. "He most likely wouldn't do something like this. He's either turned against us again, or it's a trick."
"Maybe. Bu-"
"Wait!" Shouted London. "How did Loki get a sling ring and know how to use it?"
"I don't know." Said Peter, "Do you think someone was helping him?"
"Maybe." Said London, but in the back of her mind, she was thinking of Mordo. "But we'll never know if we don't find a way to get back now."
"How are we supposed to do that?" asked Peter.
"I don't know, maybe...The candy!"
"Right! How is that supposed to help?"
"Remember how you said they were oddly shaped and I thought I saw something familiar in one of them? Well, there may be something in there that could help us."
"Let's start looking!" Said Peter.
"First we'll need some light." London searched for a light source with her powers and soon enough, found one. She brought some of the light into the room, just enough to unwrap the "candy". Then, they started their search. They mostly only found strange objects which neither of them knew what they were. Yet they continued on. After a while, the light dwindled because London wasn't focusing on it.
"London," said Peter. "We'll never be able to find anything, we aren't even sure if there is anyth-"
"I found something!" Interrupted London.
"Is it the sling ring?" asked Peter.
"Let me bring some more light so I can see." She did so and then they both saw that it was the sling ring! "Come on, let's go back to the Sanctum." Said London, but as soon as she said that, they heard footsteps coming towards the room they were in. London began to use the sling ring and imagined the room of the Sanctum they were in. She saw it clearly. The portal opened just as the door to the room they were in was opened. London looked at the face of the man who opened the door for only a split second before Peter grabbed her and pulled her through the portal. He looked strangely familiar. In the back of her mind she thought "Another one of Loki's tricks".
They stood back inside the Sanctum and the portal closed. London saw Loki, seated in a chair facing them in front of the large window.
"Well done." Said Loki. London walked over to him.
"Why did you do that?" She asked firmly. "Where is Stephen?"
"One question at a time." He replied simply.
"Tell me!" She said, and grabbed his collar. Loki looked at her with an annoyed face, but not disgusted as she would have expected. Loki stood up from the chair.
"Dr. Stephen is perfectly fine." Said Loki.
"Then tell me where he is."
"It's fine. London." Said a voice. Then Dr. Strange floated down from somewhere. "I'm alright." London ran to Stephen and hugged him. Strange stiffly returned the gesture. "But why were you so worried about me?"
"I had no idea what Loki could've done to you." When she said that, Stephen looked at Loki harshly, then he walked over to him.
"Loki," Said Strange "when you said you wanted to do something on halloween, and I agreed to help you, I thought this would keep you out of mischief for once. You said you wouldn't harm anyone."
"And I didn't." Said Loki, slyly. "I kept my promise."
"You know what I meant when you agreed to that."
"Maybe." Said Loki. "But I am the god of mischief after all. What do you expect?"
"Alright." Said Strange under his breath. "You want a trick? Well then here you go." Loki saw the look in Stephen's eyes when he said this, and knew exactly what he was going to do.
"No, no, no, no, no-" Started Loki, and began running towards him. But Stephen used his sling ring and quickly sent him to somewhere that might keep Loki busy for a little while. London could almost see him falling over on the other side. She smiled. But deep down, she felt a little bit sorry for him. Ever since he had "changed," she got to know him a bit better. She had tried countless times to convince him to stop with all of his "evil tricks," but he never seems to completely listen.
"I never liked him anyway." Mumbled Strange.
"Then why did you help him?" Asked Peter. Strange looked at Peter, clearly intending for him not to hear that.
"To keep him out of trouble." Stephen said simply, clearly not really wanting to answer. He cleared his throat then led them downstairs.
They walked along the hallway. London put her hands behind her back, almost inconspicuously.
"Soooo." Said London to Stephen as she walked beside him. "Why didn't you know what Loki was doing? Shouldn't you have seen him?"
"I would have," said Stephen, "but he said he would "tell" me when he needed me to use the portal, and I was very busy and distracted with more important things. I almost forgot about him, which was my second mistake. I wouldn't have let him help me if I knew he was going to do what he did."
"Him help you?" asked London. "So this was one of your tests."
"It was."
"How did I do?"
"You did have help." London cleared her throat. "Overall, you did good. I didn't expect you to choose the candy. You've learned much from when I started teaching you, even though you are learning other things, like archery and technological things." He said this last part in an accusing tone.
"Oh, come on." Said London. "Both of those things are useful. And besides, even if I didn't want to, Uncle Tony would make me learn about tech. And Hawkye insisted that I improve my shot, he says I'm pretty good."
"Archery can help your aim using magic as well, but you don't need the technology. It's better to focus on your magic skills. But, I can't stop you." He thought about what he said for a moment. "Well, actually, I could, but I choose not to."
London rolled her eyes and Peter jabbed her with his elbow in a teasing way. Stephen led them to the door and was about to bid them farewell when:
"Wait!" said Peter. "What about our candy?"
"What about the sling ring?" Asked Stephen.
"I can't keep it?" Said London.
"No. You still need to learn a lot more about it."
"I was hoping to use it to get to the Avengers Tower."
Stephen sighed and paused for a long time. "Alright. You can use it. Just this once!"
"Yes!"
"But, you have to have it back to me before our next lesson."
"Will do!" Said London. Stephen smirked.
"Goodbye." he said, as though he wanted them away.
"Bye." Called London, and she sped off, dragging Peter behind her.
They ran for a little while, and then stopped under a street lamp a block or two away from the Sanctum, when Peter stopped her.
"Ugh, what is it Peter? I thought you wanted to trick or treat at the normal houses?"
"Dr. Strange never gave us our candy."
"Oh!" London covered her mouth with her hands. "Whoops. I guess that's that."
"Why can't we go back?" Asked Peter.
"He'll never let us in. Did you see how he smirked? That probably means that he tried to do that."
"We're hardly going to get any candy!"
"Not if we hurry." She said, and almost sped off, but the light above them flickered and went out, as well as all of the lights around them. It was pitch black. "Sooo, maybe it wasn't Stephen."
"There isn't anyone who cou-" but Peter was interrupted. One of the lights farther down started flickering. They saw a shadow when it did, and it was getting closer and closer. Peter and London stood frozen for a moment, then ran. Although, for some reason, they ran away from the city. They continued running until the lights went back to normal. Both of them took a breather. They had been running as fast as they could. Once their breath was, mostly, back to normal, they knew they had to figure out what was going on.
"Why is this happening?" Asked London.
"How would I know?" Replied Peter. "I've been with you all night."
"Well, it doesn't seem like there's anything we can do, so maybe we should just continue trick or treating."
Peter agreed. They realized they had reached where there were more houses, so they started trick or treating around there. The people were very generous with their candy. By the time they had gone through five houses, their bags were astonishingly full. They, somehow, got back to the city after the ninth house. They walked down the street for a while, searching for more houses. They started talking about things they had been doing lately, and Peter made London laugh at times. A swift short wind blew over London.
"Mmm, nice breeze." She said,
"What breeze?" asked Peter. London started thinking about the shadow again, she flinched, but then saw something that made her very happy.
"Look!" She yelled. "A theater!" She dragged Peter to the sidewalk in front of it. "I love theaters. But I haven't been able to go for a while."
"Have you ever heard of the movie they're playing?" Peter asked. London gasped again.
"Of course! It's amazing! And so funny." She said, then paused. "Why are they playing it in the theaters? It's kind of an older movie."
"Could be for halloween."
"Oh, yeah, right. Of course," said London. "Have you ever seen it?" She fully expected him to say yes.
"No, I haven't even heard of i-"
"What!" shouted London. "You have to!"
"Maybe sometime I will." Said Peter with a smirk, but before London could drag him into the theater, Peter took the lead and pulled her in. They bought some candy (it was halloween after all), popcorn, soda and the two tickets. They both knew they would be sick after all the candy, and soda, plus the "party" later at Stark's. But they both had thought: "What else is Halloween for?"
London pulled Peter as fast as she could to the theater room, she really didn't want to be late. Soon enough, they sat down in middle row seats and then, the movie started. They both couldn't remember a time when they had laughed harder.
After the movie, they slowly made their way outside. Peter was enthusiastically telling London how much he loved the movie. They laughed more, and then stepped outside at about 9:30. London felt another breeze and stopped short in her tracks. She closed her eyes and breathed it in. It felt…strange. But she couldn't tell why. She glanced at Peter, who had been trying to get her attention.
"Are you ok?" He asked
"I'm not sure…" She whispered. But seeing that he hadn't heard her, she quickly brightened up and said: "I'm fine."
"Ok, good." He replied "We don't want you out of sorts for the party."
"It's not really even a party," She laughed, "It's just all the Avengers, and us, getting together to eat candy, and for some an excuse to get intoxicated." Peter gave her a suspicious look. She paused. "Ok, yeah I'm slightly exaggerating. But we usually just chill."
"That sounds like a party to me. Just kinda laid back."
They laughed. "Whatever you say."
They began to walk around aimlessly, chatting, then London gasped and looked at her watch. "Shoot!" She said, "We were supposed to be at The Tower 15 minutes ago." She quickly stuck her hand in her pocket for the sling ring. Then she froze. "Where's my sling ring?" She asked, frantically. She began panicking.
"Wait, wait." Said Peter. He began messing with the popcorn that was still in the bucket.
"Peter!" She yelled. "Now is no time to eat popcorn!"
"Wait!" He said again, then pulled something shiny out of the popcorn bucket.
"My sling ring!...wait what? How did it get in there" London said as she took it from him.
"I heard a thump from the bucket during the movie but I didn't think it was anything, except you bumping it or something."
"Thank you so much." She said, very relieved. "Ughhh, but now it's all greasy." She almost wiped it on her costume then realized what she was about to do.
"At least we still have it."
"Just don't tell Stephen. Please." Peter nodded, then London began wiping the sling ring on the wet grass. It was better than nothing. She quickly put it on and, too quickly, tried to imagine the Avengers Tower, but failed. "Dang it…" She said quietly and then cleared her mind, as a soft breeze blew over her. She tried again and succeeded. They stepped through the portal and ended up at the base of the Avengers Tower.
"Oh, come on." Said Peter. "You could've at least put us in some room."
London chuckled unconvincingly. "Sorry. But it won't take long with the elevators." After the small consultation, they entered the building and made their way to the elevator. London pressed the button and they got on and at floor 43 the elevator stopped and the doors opened. They stepped out, confused, and the elevator doors closed. They heard a robotic voice saying:
"I'm sorry. Mr. Stark has locked the elevators."
"Ugghhhh." she said. "So, this is his payback, huh?"
"What?" Asked Peter, quizzically.
"He bet that I wouldn't be here on time and I was like 'oh and what are you gonna do about it?' and he said he 'has his ways.' It was very suspicious but I hardly believed him."
"Well…I guess the exercise will be good since we'll be eating lots of candy." Said Peter, as he looked at the stairs with an exasperated look.
They finally reached the top, and they were fairly exhausted. They entered the "party room." It was desolate, and dark.
"It's a prank, I know it." Said London. Then, suddenly, the lights switched on and Stark walked in.
"Oh, hey." he said, absentmindedly. "I didn't hear you come in over the sound of me winning our bet."
London scoffed. "That doesn't make sense."
"Uh, yes it does." He replied. "Because I won."
"Yeah, it's good to see you too, Uncle Tony." They chuckled, then London realized some of the other Avengers had been shuffling in. She saw most of them, but: "Wait, where's Hawkye?"
Thor replied with "He said that he had urgent business with S.H.I.E.L.D. He was sad to miss this."
"Oh…" She said, in a despondent tone. "Anyway, Uncle Tony, how's things here?"
"Well, something strange happened." He replied. "We were just chilling, and the lights started getting darker and we couldn't do anything about it. Eventually we found out where the light was going. When I opened the closet door, there was fire and then it was pitch black again, and the lights went back to normal."
London and Peter froze, then glanced at each other.
"So, who got into trouble?" Tony asked.
"What? Nobody got into trouble." London said, unconvincingly, then mumbled: "Loki pulled the ultimate prank, that's all." Peter heard it and chuckled, a little too loud. She shushed him while she was laughing herself. Then, louder, she said, "We just went to Stephen's and then watched a movie in the theaters."
Cap asked about the movie, and London started telling him about it.
"Oh!" Said Steve. "I remember that movie. It was new when I saw it, but I always enjoyed the play."
"Wait…New?" She paused. "Oh, right. It's easy to forget that you were alive back then. But I didn't know it was a play at first."
"Yep! It was good." He said. "Maybe I can take you to see it if it's still playing. It would be quite the blast from the past for me."
London expressed her thanks and desire to do what he suggested, then she continued talking about the movie. She sat down in a chair to act out one scene that was particularly funny to her.
"He was just sitting there, like this, and was describing what he was doing from another movie, like this." She sat in the chair, with the Avengers watching her, and she acted out the exact scene, where the character was describing how a man was just sitting there while the murder snuck up behind him, and the others were holding back chuckles. She was laughing as she was describing it, but then suddenly:
"BOO!"
London jumped straight up and fell off the chair in shock. She lay there stunned for a split second, then recognized the one who had scared her to be her friend, Clint Barton, and she started laughing enthusiastically. All the others joined her
"That was the ultimate prank." London said.
The laughter continued deep into the night. They ate and drank age appropriate drinks (mostly) and told jokes and there were many "Noooo"'s because hardly any of the jokes were good. They played games, most of which were poorly planned, but they all enjoyed it nonetheless. The night went on, until it became morning. Tony said Peter and London could stay home from school and he'd sort everything out, because they would just make things worse for everyone if they went, because of how tired they were.
"The perks of having an uncle like him." Peter later said.
It was a very eventful night, and none of us soon forgot it. It would live on in our memories, for some until we died. At least, that's what I hope. But I know that no Halloween since has rivaled that night.
THE END
