Ignoring Yang as she wolf-whistles at a few of the guys walking past them, Ruby messes with the sleep mask she'd packed, turning it over in her lap. Her stomach turns at the Grimm eyes staring back at her, and she resists the urge to shudder. It's too much of a reminder of Salem's plan for the silver-eyed warriors (including Ruby and her mom, though she tries to avoid thinking about that part) and the poor person that was trapped inside the Hound.

She tosses the sleep mask aside, not wanting it anywhere near her. It's not as if she needs it (she's slept in much worse situations). Ruby makes a mental note to burn it at the first possible opportunity.

Beside her, Yang has gone suspiciously quiet. Ruby follows her sister's gaze to see that Yang is watching Blake as the other girl reads her book. "You should go talk to her," Ruby tells her sister. "I'm surprised she can't feel you staring at her."

"I was not staring at her!" Yang protests, whispering loudly. "And keep your voice down."

"Uh-huh, sure," Ruby replies, grinning widely. "Seriously, you said that this was a chance for us to make new friends, right? Go over and just say hi. It's not like she's going to eat you."

Yang considers that thought. "Okay," she says finally. "But only if you come with me!"

"Hey!" Ruby yelps in surprise as she's suddenly hauled to her feet. She flails a bit in Yang's grasp as her sister drags her over to the corner where Blake is sitting. What an excellent first impression they're going to make.

Even Blake's laser focus on her book isn't enough to keep her from noticing the chaotic pair of siblings heading her way. "Can I help you?" she asks dryly as Yang (and by extension Ruby) make their approach.

"Uh, yeah, hi," Ruby begins awkwardly, finally wriggling free from her sister. "I'm Ruby Rose, and this is my sister, Yang Xiao Long."

"Nice to meet you," Blake replies, although her expression implies that perhaps she's not too thrilled about this whole thing. "My name is Blake Belladonna."

"Hi!" Yang waves awkwardly. "I really like your bow. It goes great with your, uh, pajamas!"

"Okay . . ." Blake seems unamused.

Mentally, Ruby covers her face with her hands in secondhand embarrassment. Yang continues to be terrible at flirting with anyone she's actually interested in. "Anyway I recognized that book you're reading since I've read it. How are you liking it so far?"

Ruby has in fact read the book in question. She'd decided to give it a try after seeing that Blake was reading it.

"Uh, it's pretty good. It's a pretty interesting story so far."

That's probably the best response that they're going to get from Blake, so Ruby decides to end things while they're on a somewhat high note. "Well, it was nice meeting you, Blake. Have a good night!" This time, Ruby is the one tugging Yang along as they make their escape. She's never trying to be a wingwoman for Yang ever again.

Well, at least Ruby tried. Awkward first meeting with Blake? Check. Now, time for them to go to bed before they can embarrass themselves any further.
