My vampire. That's what I call him. He's my boyfriend, too. My boyfriend. Weird to think about. The fact that we wake up together and he makes me breakfast. We train together for a little while, and run over lesson plans for the girls while I drink my morning coffee. He drives to the academy, and I giggle as I watch him bask in the early morning sun. Little present from the PTB. He loves it. We get in the sun together as much as possible, whether it's morning walks or an afternoon picnic. And he does, freckle.
After we get to the academy we get started on physical training with the girls. I teach them the skills, then they parry with Spike and I as we correct their stance. Soon enough it's lunch time. There's a coffee place at the end of the street that do the best homemade baguettes and lattes. Sometimes we sit in and call it a date, sometimes we just head back to the academy staff room and talk work for a while.
During the afternoon we show the slayers training videos and teach general theory - Spike usually mocks me about how my knowledge of the different types of demons is really not where it needs to be, it's okay, I'm learning.
We've started giving them mini projects to complete once a week - a research task on a specific situation. I constantly remind them that hitting the books is not just for watchers - they need to develop these skills also.
After we finish at the academy I usually go for a short jog while Spike heads home to make dinner. I come back to a kiss and a hot meal. Being with him is absolutely perfect.
On weekends we drink coffee in bed and cuddle until breakfast. We're always doing something, whether it's buying groceries or going for a walk or a workout. You never realize how much fun buying groceries is until you have a boyfriend who can cook for you and mostly you. Sunday afternoons we usually watch a film. If a scoobie is in town, they join us. Our house now is what Giles's apartment used to be, the centre of the scooby gang.
Dawn visited recently. Brought her girlfriend. I honestly didn't know she swung that way but apparently my vampire did. He's so intuitive. I'm happy for her - found her soulmate.
They live an hour away in a small British village. They're planning a life together. Thinking about buying a house. Marriage and children might be on the cards too. A happily ever after.
I'll never be able to have kids with Spike. Someday he'll be my husband. We've talked about it. The idea of a proposal. But right now, I'm happy. Really happy.
Some nights I just listen to him talk - read Shakespeare plays or tell stories from his childhood. He's wonderful when he speaks. Sometimes after a nightmare all I need is for him to read to me, it's the only way I calm down.
We listen to music together too, usually when I'm writing to Willow, Giles, Dawn or Xander. He either writes in his journal or peeks at my letters to Willow, where I write how amazing he is.
It's hard for me. To put my feelings down in words. I'm getting better, it's his love language, you see.
He encouraged me to keep a journal. He does. Two, actually. One bound in purple leather and magically locked, the other a blood red colour, with "Love Letters To Buffy" scrawled across in Victorian cursive. He writes to me in that. He writes so beautifully, some things he writes are so perfect he would never say them out loud.
I'm trying to do the same here, in this journal. Maybe I should name it Love Letters To Spike.
Honestly, I just love him so much. Sometimes it scares me. Putting that much trust into a man. But I know he'll never leave. He promised. And I trust his promises.
I think that's all I need to say. I will give this to him, he deserves to know how amazing he is.
I'm happy, Spike. You hear that? I'm happy. And I love you.
Buffy
