Chapter Four

The next day, the team arrived at Rock Creek Park where the rally was taking place. Dozens of people were gathered in front of a sound stage that had been set up. Backstage, Gibbs and the team were speaking with Brian Langford, the other organisers and April Clarkson, who had decided to take the place of her sister.

"Right, so we'll be spread out in the audience, just so we can be prepared for whatever this attack is." informed Gibbs gruffly.

"Are you sure you're wanting to do this?" asked McGee.

"We're sure." replied Brian.

"This rally was way too important to my sister; be a shame to cancel now." said April.

The agents nodded in understanding.

Gibbs, Tony, McGee and Bishop spread out and took up various positions near the audience. They were all a tiny bit on edge: none of them knew what this mysterious attack would be, and they were also unsure if they would be able to prevent it.

Brian and April walked on to the stage and waved to the crowd, who cheered in support.

"Hello everybody," greeted Brian enthusiastically, "I'm so glad you could all make it to this rally. Today is not only about celebrating women of the Navy, but to also promote safety and to pay tribute to Captain Lorraine Clarkson, who was brutally murdered by a coward. Lorraine was supposed to speak here today, but her sister April has offered to step in in order to keep her sister's legacy alive."

The crowd once again cheered loudly.

April then came to stand in front of the microphone. "Thank you, Brian," she said politely, "My sister was a kind and caring person who cared about everyone and loved her job."

The team continued to look for any suspicious activity as April continued to talk.

Tony, who was the closest to the stage, began scanning the crowd, looking for anybody suspicious. The agent suddenly noticed a scruffy looking man with sandy hair edging closer to the stage. Tony pulled out his radio and spoke into it. "Boss, I've got eyes on a scruffy looking man in his thirties heading towards the stage."

"Okay, keep your eye on him, Dinozzo." replied Gibbs.

"On it, boss." said Tony.

After putting his radio away, the senior agent began to slowly follow the man as he made his way towards the stage; always making sure that the suspect didn't spot him. The figure suddenly stopped just a few feet away from the stage, he then pulled a grenade out of his pocket.

"GRENADE!" yelled Tony in warning.

This instantly startled the crowd, who began running in all directions. At the same time, the man pulled the pin and threw the grenade towards the stage. Brian and April dived for cover as the grenade landed on the stage and went off, causing a small explosion. Several more thugs came out of nowhere, armed with switchblades.

Gibbs, Tony, McGee and Bishop began chasing after the thugs, who were currently trying to shoot and stab as many fleeing people as they could.

Gibbs tackled one of the thugs to the ground. The thug struggled as the silver haired agent swiftly handcuffed him.

Tony slowly approached one of the thugs that had a switchblade. The thug yelled angrily as he started swiping the switchblade at Tony, who dodged each swipe, Tony then managed to punch the man in the stomach before grabbing his arm and tossing the thug to the ground, Tony then rolled the man on to his stomach and handcuffed him.

The third and fourth thug were currently trying to shoot at any remaining crowd members, but thankfully, Bishop and McGee rugby tackled them to the ground before handcuffing them.

A shrill scream of terror cut through the air and reached the agents' ears. The four of them heard the scream coming from backstage and so ran towards the stage.

Gibbs, Tony, McGee and Bishop burst into the backstage area; guns raised. The thug that had thrown the grenade was standing in the middle of the room, aiming a shotgun at Brian, April and the other organisers; all had looks of terror plastered on their faces.

"NCIS! Drop the weapon now!" barked Gibbs.

"Don't come any closer!" snapped the man, who sounded highly agitated, "I'll kill them all and there's nothing you can say or do that will stop me!"

"You don't want to do this," said McGee calmly, "These people haven't done anything to hurt you or your friends."

"Yes they have, YES THEY HAVE!" roared the man, now shaking with fury, "All these Chads and Stacys are exactly the same: always feeling that they're superior to us; always getting away with crimes while we men get blamed!"

"Not everybody's like that though," said April in a voice quivering with fear before suddenly standing up with Brian.

"GET BACK ON THE FLOOR!" shouted the man, "I SAID GET BACK ON THE FLOOR!"

"No!" said Brian firmly, "You think you're so big threatening and attacking innocent people, but let me tell you, you're not. It's people like you that need to be dealt with, not people like us."

"My sister believed that both men and women deserve equal rights," said April, "She didn't deserve to be murdered just because she didn't want to be kissed by your friend."

"Your sister was a selfish bitch who got what she deserved!" snapped the man before leveling his shotgun at April's face, "Now it's time I taught you a lesson!"

The man cocked his gun, but before he could fire, Gibbs and the others fired several rounds into the man's back and into the back of his head, sending him falling face-first on to the floor, dead.

April and Brian rushed over to Gibbs and the others.

"Thanks for the rescue." said April, sighing in relief.

"Don't mention it." grunted Gibbs.

(AN) And that was the penultimate chapter of Incel; hope you all enjoyed.

Sorry for the lack of any big climactic fight: couldn't really think of that much to do.

Until the next time, this is TimeLordMaster108 signing out.
