Chapter 1

The Most Luckless Girl in Paris

"Marinette! Your alarm's been going off for 15 minutes! You're going to be late for your first day back at school!"

"Got it, Mom!"

Marinette got up from her comfy bed, haven't been sleeping too well from the fact that Adrien is not going to attend school this year. There's nothing wrong with helping a family member with work, considering the fact that her honorary cousin is going to inherent her uncle Gabriel's business someday. But the fact that Adrien isn't going to be there in school still hurts her, as she reluctantly goes downstairs after turning off the alarm on her cellphone to get some breakfast. On the flip-side, at least her mom is here, so she leaned forward to kiss her in the cheek before heading over to the kitchen.

"I bet you anything Chloé will be in my class again."

"Four years in a row, is that possible?"

"Definitely. Lucky me!"

"Don't say that! It's the start of a new year – I'm sure everything will be just fine! Besides, Adrien is coming so you two can walk to school together."

These words bring comfort to Marinette. But all a sudden, an orange simply rolled out of the fruit bowl, which cascaded into several things getting knocked over, spilling and falling to the floor. Marinette groans, but it's not all too bad, as her mom comforts her, giving her some reassurance as they go clean up the mess.

After getting ready to go to school, Marinette went down to see her dad, Tom Dupain, with a box of green macarons, doing what he does best; running his bakery downstairs below the living space they live in. Beautiful aesthetically and with top-notch baked goods, Tom & Sabine's Boulangerie Patisserie is by reputation, one of the best bakeries in Paris. And with their daughter's amazing new designs, it was made even better.

"Dad, these are so awesome!" Marinette complemented on her dad's freshly baked macaroons.

"Glad you like them." Tom responded to her daughter's complement.

"Thank you Dad, my class will love them! You're the best!"

"We're the best, thanks to your amazing designs."

Marinette hugs her dad, dropping the box, but her dad catches it on foot and tosses it up in the air, catching it before handing it to her.

"Hey cousin! Hey uncle Tom and aunt Sabine!" Adrien said as he enters the bakery.

"Hello Adrien!" All three of the Dupain-Cheng family replied, waving their hands at an honorary family member.

"Ready to head over to school, cousin?"

Marinette heads over to her confident and to her eyes, near-perfect cousin, eager to enjoy his company before heading to the school year, all without him.

"See you tonight." Marinette tells both her parents before heading out.

The school itself, the Collège Françoise Dupont, which is basically a mixture of a middle school and high school, is not far from the bakery. The only obstacle, is the road itself between the school and the bakery. As soon as they got to the crosswalk though, there's an old man walking across, not knowing there's a car coming towards him. Swiftly, both cousins pulled the old man to safety, but the box of macarons wound up all over the sidewalk with people stepping on them without noticing.

"Thank you, two." the old man tells them before noticing the open box of macarons.

"Oh! What a disaster"

"Don't worry, I'm no stranger to disasters. Besides, there are still a few left." Marinette responded as her cousin gives the old man one of the few macarons left in the box.

"Mmmh. Delicious."

And as soon as the school bell rings, Marinette immediately go right into panic mode.

"Oh no, I'm going to be late!" She quickly turns to the old man, stood up straight, bowing slightly and tells him have a nice day, before the cousins head towards the school.

Unknown to both of them, the old man looks down at two small black boxes sitting at the palm of his hand.

"Thank you very much, both of you." as the old man said to them as his ruse for picking his two wielders for the Miracuoluses concluded, putting the boxes away in his pocket and walks off past the bakery, holding his cane behind his back.

"Alright cousin, I'll see you in the afternoon." Adrien tells her as Marinette runs through the open door past the janitor and rushes to her classroom. As she disappeared from his sight, Adrien wondered if his cousin is going to be alright all alone. Adrien stood there shortly before a black sedan came in to pick him up, his father, Gabriel Agreste sitting at the back. It's time for father and son to get straight to work, promoting the Gabriel brand.

At her class room, her homeroom teacher is reassigning several students for the school, assigning Nino to a seat in the front row. And as expected, comes a familiar blond face she knew all too well.

"Marinette Dupain-Cheng."

"Ugh, Here we go again."

"That's my seat." the mayor's daughter tells the poor luckless girl.

"But Chloé, this has always been my seat." Marinette responded, trying to fruitlessly defend her seat.

"Not anymore! New school, new year, new seats! So why don't you just piss off and sit beside that new girl over there?."

"But…"

"Listen, your boyfriend Adrien isn't going to save your half-chink ass. And since I got that out of the way, this is going to be my seat. Get it?"

"Hey! Who elected you Queen of Seats?" the new girl tells the entitled blond, standing up to someone who happened to be picked on. She is a Martinique Creole-French Redhead with a mole on her forehead, wearing glasses, a plaid shirt, light blue jeans, and white sneakers.

"Hey look at that, Sabrina, we got ourselves a little do-gooder in our class this year. What are you going to do? Shoot laser beams at me with your glasses?"

"Wouldn't you like to know." The new girl tells Chloé before grabbing the girl she didn't knew by the hand, but not before Marinette trips and falls again, spilling all but one macaron.

"Has everyone found a seat?" the teacher asks everyone before the class begins.

"Chillax, girl. No biggie." the new girl tells Marinette.

"I so wish I can handle Chloé the way you do."

"You mean the way Majestia does it." the new girl tells her before pulling out a picture of her favorite superhero. "She says all that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good people do nothing."

Truer words can't be said any better, but easier said than done. As nearly a decade ago, eight super powered gangsters called the Duke Brothers, came in to stir up trouble in the city of Paris. Not really brothers, but having the same interests and working together as an eight-man mafia can do wonders when it comes to causing trouble, like trafficking people from France to Mexico within 1 hour being a good example. There are worse examples, like loan sharking, hit-and-runs, protection racketeering, and the long, sad list goes on and on. What really gained their infamy in the entirety of Paris, is the hostile takeover of the city hall just for the fun of it. The end result of it, hundreds of lives killed needlessly, hopes and dreams disrespected, and countless pieces of art, notably from the Louvre Museum, vandalized. It took a week for two superhero teams, the Justice League, and the United Heroez, to remove them and throw them in a super-max prison, as there's no way they can put these man-dogs down.

"Well, that girl over there is evil, We can't let her get away with it." As the new girl tells Marinette while pointing at Chloé in the present day.

"Well, that's easier said than done. She likes to make my life miserable"

"That's cause you let her, girl! You just need more confidence."

Marinette grabs a macaron from the box and gives the half to the new girl before giving her name. "Marinette."

"Alya."

Meanwhile at a photo-shoot, Adrien can't help but worry for his cousin. Gabriel happened to notice his son being a little off.

"Adrien, I know this is hard for you. But you have to trust Marinette on being able to handle herself."

"I know. But I just can't help feel that I'm neglecting her."

"I understand, but you got to have faith in her. You'll hangout with her when school's done, alright. In the meantime, stay focused!"

That put a small smile on Adrien, knowing he has a good family members rooting for both of them.

At the classroom, the teacher dismissed her class. With those having PE are headed towards the stadium while the rest are headed over to the library. Things were going smoothly until Ivan suddenly exploded into a fit of anger.

"KIM!"

"Ivan, what is going on?" the teacher asked her student.

"It's Kim! I'm so gonna get…"

"Ivan, go to the Principal's office."

Ivan begrudgingly crumbles the paper note Kim gave to him before heading towards the principal's office angrily, not knowing a death's-head hawkmoth with a baphomet's head on it's thorax instead of something shaped like a human skull, waiting for the right prey to attack. As for the hawkmoth, Ivan is a perfect host for akumatization.

The principal, a husky stout man named Denis Damocles, was waiting for Ivan after receiving word from Miss Bustier about Ivan's fit. The fact that Ivan opening the door without knocking didn't help matters at all.

"Excuse me young man. Hasn't anyone ever taught you to knock? Go on. Out you go, try it again! Go on, knock."

The principal watched Ivan exit the office while slamming the door, not noticing that the hawkmoth akumatized Ivan afterwards.

"Well, come on in."

What came in is what is totally unexpected. A muscular, goat-legged demon with large horns that curve inwards, with skin being volcanic gray with magma flowing through it's veins, bashed the door open as if it was made of cardboard, and went after the principal. The demon grabs Mr. Damocles by the throat before chucking him out of the office and into the pavement.

In the library, Marinette and Alya are suddenly thrown to the floor while other students see the security camera feed in shock and horror. Alya picked up Marinette by the hand before seeing the monster on the security camera feed, busting through the principal's office window, with Mr. Damocles' corpse lying on the basketball court. Marinette noticed the monster has Ivan's voice when it shouted Kim's name.

"It's as if Ivan's been transformed into a real-life super-villain! GPS, check. Battery, check. I am so outta here!"

"Alya? Where are you going?"

"Where there's a super-villain, there's always a superhero close behind! No way I'm missing this!" as Alya storms out to chase after the demon, leaving Marinette behind in the library. As the demon chucks the car into a security camera, Marinette can only hope that Adrien and Gabriel are going be okay.

After a long shoot, Adrien, Emilie and Gabriel are at the Agreste Mansion, the four story tall residence of the Agreste family, taking a break from what was supposed to be a short photo shoot, but it was taking more work than anticipated. All a sudden, all three of them hear gunfire from the front of their residence. Immediately, Gabriel tells his assistant to lock-down the mansion, not wanting to risk his family as the monster approaches the cop cars. The shooting from the police were fruitless, as the demon grew and the bullets bounced right off it's igneous hide. Now it is the monster's turn attack by crushing the cop cars, and ripping the officers in half. It was all a sudden, that Adrien's smartphone ringing that caught Adrien off-guard while he was headed to his room, it was Marinette.

"Hello."

"Adrien!"

"Cousin, what happened? Are you okay?"

"Ivan, one of my classmates turned into some monster. My new friend is following it as of right now!"

"Where are you at?"

"At home in my room, watching the news. Are you seeing this?"

Adrien turned on his TV, with the mayor on screen telling everyone to stay home until the situation is under control, confirming that they are dealing with a super-villain and they are struggling. Adrien and Marinette haven't seen anything like it since the Duke Brothers ran amok nearly a decade ago, but things are about to get far worse for everyone in Paris when the newsfeed was suddenly cut off and replaced by a transmission unknowingly from Mars itself, broadcasted to the UAC crew four months ago, now on every screen in the city. The transmission was broadcasted and filmed by an old hag with cybernetic implants, and what she said sparks terror like no other.

"I believe in honesty...especially now, in what will be your final moments in this world. All the rumors...the human sacrifices...the Hell portal...the demons...it's all true. My sisters and brothers, be thankful. You will be the first. You will have a seat alongside them just as I will in what will become the new world that they create for us. Starting now."

The transmission ended with a white screen with a screech of an unknown creature accompanying it, all the while Marinette can only watch, not wanting to move a millimeter of her body while hiding behind her chair. It was only when she sees a black box that somehow got into her room that she snapped into her senses.

Adrien wasn't having an easier time, more concerned with his family's safety and his home literally turning into a hellhole, before noticing a black box.

Meanwhile at Miss Bustier's classroom, she barricaded her door, not wanting to get the now possessed students and staff members into the classroom with whoever was left that wasn't. It was then a portal appeared in her classroom and out from the portal, came a tall, powerfully built man in a green heavily-armored suit, stained in blood, with a pump-action shotgun in his hand, ready to fight whatever hell can throw at him.
