"Is this almost over? I hate being like this" I am in my asari form. Chakwas and Mordin are running scans of my internal organs with a MRI like instrument. They have repeatedly scanned me to form a 3D computer model. This is the last one. Mordin pleaded for more, but I refused. I have been more than patient and I want to be in a different body. I don't like feeling this feminine and girly. My soul is not used to this energy configuration.

Mordin points to a tablet Chakwas has in her left hand. I can see him zooming in on my lower torso area. Chakwas isn't as familiar with asari anatomy and is surprised at what is on the screen.

"I don't see anything on the other side of the uterus. Is that a mistake?" she asks.

"No. It's a common congenital defect among asari" he quickly said.

"DOMYBITSNOTWORK?!"

"Nothing to worry about. It doesn't affect reproductive function. Curious. Did you study asari anatomy?" he asks.

"Not at all" I said.

"Then how could you make an asari body?" Chakwas asked. I sat up from the table. It still feels weird my modestly sized breasts being pulled down from gravity.

"It's a very intuitive ability. All I have to do is think about it and can become something else" I said.

"But where is the information to generate all the complex asari organs and element zero nodules? You couldn't possibly have known" Mordin asks.

"Basically there is like an energetic extranet. All souls are connected to each other and information is subconsciously shared. I must somehow get the knowhow and form an asari body. I can not look anything up like google, but it allows me to transform or find universes of my likings." I don't truly understand it. That's the explanation I was given.

"We're all connected?" Mordin looks very interested.

"Yeah. No one knows why. It's a mystery." I want answers just as much as the other guys.

"Do animals have souls?" He asks.

"I had dogs growing up. Will I be able to see them afterwards?" Chakwas looks hopefully at me.

"Probably. Souls attract souls. Domesticated animals usually can carry one. My people did experiments and they can also force animals to ascend if we want" the consequences for that gives me shivers. I don't want to run into one of those things again.

"Fascinating. What about reincarnation?" Mordin asks.

"It's an option. I personally hate the idea of losing my memories and starting all over, but you can get everything back afterwards. Some people do it for reasons. We can even reincarnate into animals. There is an issue however. Since our brains would be an animal, we'd think like an animal. We'd have to die in order to go back to a human mind."

Chakwas looks at me funny "did you ever do that?"

"I was tempted but never did. I thought about becoming a turtle or living as a whale hoping it would be peaceful, but I didn't want to make the commitment. Hey, can I go back to being a man?" Mocking the female race "I don't like the weak girly hormones in my body. I feel like going shopping at the mall with money that's not mine and talking nonsense on the phone."

My sister from another mother begins to explain "Asari are monogendered. You're technically not a-"

"I have milk machines and a flesh sheath. I am a woman!"

Mordin politely asks "Excuse me, flesh sheath?"

I see I need to explain the birds and the bees. "Women have flesh sheaths and men have swagger daggers, or in my case a swagger lance" Chakwas dies from laughter.

"I heard many nicknames for genitals during my residency, that is the funniest one I ever heard!"

"I didn't come up with it, but I love the guy who did" her belly laughs makes me slightly chuckle. Mordin does not care.

"What is a phone? You said something about talking with it. Why not use an omni tool?" Mordin asks.

"We didn't have those growing up. I had a flip phone and then a smart phone when they were invented" I said.

Chakwas asks "Wait, when did you grow up?"

"Beginning of the twenty-first century" I said. She gives me a concerned look.

"You might not want to tell people that. Mordin, that was a very bad time in our history. The pollution wreaked havoc on our endocrine systems for decades. Do you know how our present day humans view your generation?" she looks a little mad.

"Haha. Believe me whatever you are thinking of, I had it worse! I looked it up. The game was made before covid and election nonsense. It didn't happen in your history" I laugh the pain away.

"What's covid?" They ask.

"It was a respiratory virus that infected the world. We had lockdowns for months" I said.

"You survived a pandemic? Was this after your abilities bloomed?" Chakwas asked.

"Nope! I didn't get it. Thankfully the people I know who did survived. The chances were good back then" I said.

"Was it deadly?" Mordin scoots closer.

"Percent wise it was very low. It wasn't like the movies. The issue was it overwhelmed the hospitals and slowed down the economy. There was a supply chain issue that took years to fix" I explained.

"What did the governments do?" Chakwas asked.

Bitterly, I say "Printed a crap ton of money which almost caused hyperinflation."

Mordin skeptically says "The way you say it, makes it sound like it wasn't very bad."

Guilt trip powers activate.

"So you know how I almost never lie but do it in such a way in order to secretly mess with people? Look at me when I say this. Toilet paper became valuable." They give me the saddest looks imaginable. Their eyes are so filled with pity. I couldn't keep my laughter contained. I let it out in short bursts and made it look like I was sobbing. I literally tell them I am telling the truth to screw with them and they still fall for it. I never ran out of toilet paper, but they don't know that.

"Are you joking?" Chakwas rubs my shoulder.

"NO!" I snorted.

"The female bits are making me emotional. I'm turning back into a human" Ah this is so much better. Testosterone fueled greatness. I feel like finding a big rock or a sharp stick and becoming the leader of the tribe, but then I would have to listen to everyone's complaining.

"I can't believe you went through that. What did you do during the lockdowns?" Chakwas asks.

"Lost 120 pounds" that was fortunate timing.

"OH! Was that intentional?" she asks.

"Yes. I struggled most of my childhood being overweight. It was strange. I was finally diagnosed with my condition and could finally lose weight. Everyone else was getting sick and I was getting into the best shape of my life" if only I know about energy manipulation back then. There is a synergistic effect where the more muscles increases energy reserves and more energy reserves makes it easier to build muscles.

"Congratulations. You were a beast before whatever you are now" She said.

"Agreed. It must have taken a very long time to become muscular" he said.

"I was never this muscular. I swear something is in the food there" I said.

"Fascinating. I will have to research it. Can you ask for some samples to be sent?" he asks. I create whatever I ate on the table.

"Knock yourself out" the tone of the conversation signals the end. The scans they did were just for curiosity. I wouldn't let them publish their findings. As I'm just about to exit the door, an idea comes to mind. I turn around.

"Where do you guys stash the toilet paper?"
