Chapter Two: Arriving At the Regent's Park

When they arrived at the park, Nanny unhooked their leashes and the puppies began to run around. Freckles is with Penny while Pepper is with Patch. Nanny observed the puppies in a safe distance to ensure that they do not get lost out of her sight.

"Freckles, getting away from the mean ol' lady was scary, but when I got to play in the coal dust with you, it was fun too! Do you remember that?" Penny speaks about the time when they were escaping from Cruella while using soot as a disguise. Freckles too remembered this incident.

"Yeah it was so fun, I always wanted to get good and dirty!" he says with a smile, knowing that it was memorable to them.

"Well, dad hasn't ever said we could do that again but he never said we couldn't do it again, either!" This idea suddenly sparked excitement to Freckles.

"What are we waiting for Penny? Let's get good and dirty now! But, from which part of the park can we find something dirty?" Penny and Freckles looked within the park for a place to roll in the dirt but they cannot find a place they are looking for.

"Hmm, there aren't nearly as many places to get really dirty here as there are at home. There's a lot of orangey sand and dust by those big rocks over there, but that doesn't look like it's as much fun as soot. Oh, but what if I wanted to look like a Golden Retriever puppy later? The mean ol' lady already knows I'm not a Labrador! So we should have a different disguise, in case." Penny quite found the place they're looking for. The big rocks seem to be within a children's playground which isn't filled yet with kids since the day is Friday, and that they're still at school.

"Let's try that on Penny!" says Freckles and sot they jumped into the sand box to test their new looks.

Meanwhile, Patch talks to Pepper about having a practice to become like Thunderbolt.

"Ya know Pepper when I grow up, I wanna be just like Thunderbolt! Brave, and strong, and always scaring the bad guys away!"

"I guess we are not different Patch, I also wanna be brave like Thunderbolt! But where can we find horse thieves or cattle rustlers for you to scare away?" Pepper asks Patch which a few seconds later realized something.

"Yeah it might be a little hard, 'cause I don't think there's as many horse thieves or cattle rustlers in London but I can still practice how I'm GONNA scare 'em off when I find some!" They then both think for ideas which will be used for Patch's scaring practice. "How about practicing on that mailbox near us? It kinda is shaped like a face though."

"Oh yeah Pepper, alright!" Patch and Pepper ran towards the mailbox near them. Suddenly Patch barked at the mailbox and tried to scare the mailbox. It lasted for a while with Patch learning how to scare with the use of his bark while Pepper watching him.

"Take that, ya low-down, dirty ol' mailbox! And don't let me catch you robbing any more stagecoaches, ever again!" Patch barks and speaks loudly and aggressively against its motionless face.

"How did that go Patch?" Pepper is excited about what his brother felt.

"Yeah I think that was pretty good Pepper! It works 'cause the mailbox is shaped kinda like Dirty Dawson, if you squint at it. Maybe I should try scaring away a telephone box next. They're even bigger!" Patch grinned with his eyes squinting at Pepper.

"I never knew it looked like Dirty Dawson. At least you're practicing for the show! Hmm, maybe I'll just wait on an episode where ya maul that horse thief!" Pepper's statement made them both to laugh about it since Patch is already a sidekick in the show which means that they're expecting an episode about him mauling Dirty Dawson. But then they realized that they cannot go further Nanny's sight and so they ran back, racing each other to where Nanny is watching them.

On the same time Rolly, Lucky and Cadpig are walking with Nanny in a park sidewalk for a walk while talking to each other. Lucky is running around to try and pace himself but then he starts to feel tired from it. "*huff, puff* See? How am I supposed to slow down when there are *huff* so many fun things to see? Phew! Uh, maybe I could get Dad to carry me to some of the farther-away fun things, though. That's the nice thing about being small; I'm real easy to carry!"

"While for me, I think I learned something real important about balance today. And that's that I think I'll be better at it when my legs get longer. That way, I won't trip over 'em so much! I have to make extra sure to grow up big and strong. That means I have to eat a lot, right?" Rolly asks which afterwards is answered by Cadpig.

"I don't think that's how it works Rolly, getting bigger probably makes you to lose your balance." Cadpig corrects his brother's last statement.

"Oh. Hmm, I heard Nanny said that Kanine Krunchies treats are only for puppies that go on long walks. I don't like long walks very much, but I like Kanine Krunchies more! So I thought, "Maybe I should try to walk myself".

"Yeah just like me trying to pace myself earlier to become strong." Lucky relates what he said to what he was doing a few seconds ago.

"In a sense, walking for a long time grants you better rewards than walking for a small amount of time." Rolly suddenly asks out of curiousity. "And why's that Cadpig?" She responded: "Your eyes shall see it very soon." After they walked for a few minutes with Nanny, Rolly understood what Cadpig meant about it.

"I liked that long walk way better than I thought! Especially that melted ice lolly by the dustbin in the park that was my favorite part, even though Nanny reminded me to not take food from dustbins. Walks with snacks are lots more fun!" Cadpig seems to be happy about what Rolly felt.

"Not to mention, you're slowly getting better at balancing!" Rolly felt encouraged by his sister's words and thanked her, knowing that she's optimistic on her outlooks about life. She welcomes him after she received his thanks. Suddenly, Rolly's experience with his walk in the park reminded him of the chicken sandwich back at the DeVille place because of the snacks.

"I remembered getting taken by the Baduns, it was scary, but there was one part of it that was all right. Horace's sandwich sure was good. I only ate the middle, but I still got to it before Horace did. And it was delicious! I've tried to find the same kind of sandwich-middle again, but I haven't yet. Nanny only feeds us kibble, so the only sandwiches I can reach are the ones that are already on the floor."

"Maybe you can find some on that sandwich shop in our front? I know you are sniffing its delicious scent." Lucky gives a smirk to Rolly while Cadpig complains about it. "And so we have now chosen to find leftovers rather than wait for food. Are we making our lives easy or hard?"

"I don't think we're finding leftovers but I guess it's both easy and hard Cadpig." Lucky just guesses the answer to that question.

"Oh yeah I found a sandwich!" Rolly rushes near it outside the sandwich shop which is beside the park somewhere. The sandwich appears to have been already eaten but wasn't consumed entirely, with only the half of it remaining. "Uhh would you both like to join me to eat a part of sandwich?" Though Rolly always love food, he can also be gentle and carefree in his family. Both Lucky and Cadpig refused his offer. "No thanks Rolly."

Rolly bit the sandwich which he complained about it afterwards."Rats. This one doesn't have the right kind of middle, either! It's just little bits of chicken. *nomf* Mmm actually, I might like this kind of sandwich-middle even better! I didn't know there were that many kinds of sandwiches, but I'm glad I learned!"

"Remember Rolly again to always know the food you eat, it might be poisonous." Nanny reminds him after seeing that he already ate from the dustbin earlier. Rolly barked in obedience to Nanny since he gained wisdom from her.

A few seconds later, the 4 puppies Penny, Freckles, Patch and Pepper came running towards them them which was then greeted with nuzzles by the other puppies.

Nanny held Patch in her hands with happiness in her face. "Oh here's Patch and Pepper! Let's go home before the cold catches you!" While Nanny is putting their leashes on their collars, the puppies talked about their experiences of walking in the park. After the three puppies were finished talking about their experiences, they asked the other 4 puppies next.

"So Penny and Freckles, what happened on your walk?" Lucky is quite curious to what happened on their walk.

"Aww the orangey sand didn't stick on us Lucky." says Penny with disappointment learning that sand doesn't stick to your body. Freckles then speaks to Penny. "Yeah I wished it did Penny but at least we learned something."

"Well to make it simple, knowledge is power and ignorance is not bliss Freckles." He was smiling at Cadpig's words which are quite true. "I agree with you Cadpig." he says to her to which the others agree as well. "Hello Patch and Pepper. So what happened on your walk?"

"That was champion Penny! I imagined a mailbox as Dirty Dawson and then I scared that ol' mailbox! Patch feels enthusiastic while saying those words with his tail wagging fast.

"Well I'm kinda sad there aren't trophies." Pepper relates the word trophy for the word champion which made others to chuckle.

"Yeah but I don't care about trophies Pep." After speaking to Pepper, Patch approached Lucky "Hi Lucky, can I ask you something later at home just the two of us? It's important." Lucky agrees to his favor.

"Uhh is nobody gonna talk how we didn't get to the zoo? I mean dad said that there is one but we never got there." Lucky complained that they weren't able to go to the zoo with a not-amused face.

"And that our W-A-L-K felt like it was only a few minutes? Maybe it's because it's too risky for us to get lost. We only have Nanny here and just the seven of us." Penny's words suddenly make sense to Lucky. It is just dangerous to consider according to her and Lucky didn't want to go further with his thoughts.

"Alright let's go! Oh and I almost forget, we better not tell everybody about what happened, we might spoil how it feels to walk here in the park!" Patch tells everybody about this and so everybody agreed with him. They walked back into the residence and into their home.

After being unleashed by nanny, one by one they ran towards their mother with joy to tell about their experience on going for a W.A.L.K. at the park. The conversation is full of many voices and so Perdita told them to talk one by one. She is happy to hear their stories and after the conversation, Lucky and Patch then approached their mother.

"Mom, can I and Patch talk in secret? He says it's important." Lucky asked her. "Alright children, you may in the attic as the door is open. After all me and your father can't exactly let you all play in the attic, you hardly all fit." Perdita replied to them. "Thank you mom!" said Lucky and Patch as they then nuzzled their mother and went upstairs into the attic while the other 5 puppies were approached by their other brothers and sisters, asking how walking in the park feels right. Penny tells them that it's a secret that no one should know until they will experience what they felt.
