Chapter 6: Happy Mornings
The Saturday's bright sun slowly shines across the residence and inside the house is the light slowly giving sight through its beams coming from the curtains covering the outside view from the living room window. Inside Roger's house kitchen are puppies sleeping soundly with their adopted parents near the door, with Perdita's head resting on top of Pongo's head. Below the wooden kitchen cabinet on the right side of the sink are two, yellow curtains acting as a door and hiding something. Inside the cabinet contains a basket that has fifteen biological puppies sleeping together in a circle.
The puppy with a black, round patch on his right eye wakes up with a yawn and then proceeds to sit. Patch as goes by his description, looks at his brothers and sister using his newly opened eyes and then smiles whilst chuckling inside upon hearing their snores knowing that they all are completely safe, especially his sister Penny who is soundly asleep. After that moment, he stands up on his paws and walks out of the basket into the kitchen.
Just as he disappears from the curtains, his brother whose spots on his back look like a horseshoe facing upwards wakes up and yawns. Lucky sees that the comfortable part of the blanket is empty and that Patch is not sleeping on it, so he proceeds to stand and lie on the cozy-looking part of the blanket. Just as he lies comfortably, Patch appears from the curtains and then walks toward the basket. Upon climbing on the basket, he sees his brother lying on the cozy part of the blanket.
"Hiya Lucky!" he speaks to him loudly which catches his brother off his guard, screaming for a second. Thankfully his and Lucky's voices weren't much loud to wake their fellow siblings up and so his eyes widen and his mouth shut after this realization.
"Shh!" Lucky scolds his brother for the mistake and so Patch nods and says sorry in response, walking towards the center of the basket whilst maneuvering on top of his siblings afterwards.
"Hi Patch, I'm sorry if I'm here. It feels really cozy here." Lucky's head faces down slightly which Patch afterwards chuckle at his brother's words.
"Do you still remember from yesterday when we fought over this and then dad stops us from arguing even more?" Lucky says yes to Patch who sits at the center.
"You know what that means right?" Lucky's eyes widen upon realization. "Oh!" he speaks the word not loud enough to wake up his siblings, however Pepper covers his ears with the part of the blanket he's using. "Shh!" Patch scolds his brother who nods afterwards. "I thought you'd sleep here later on bedtime 'cause you didn't say anything yesterday, so I snuggled up here before you can so that there won't be anything to argue. "
"Well you can snuggle all ya' want on that today, after all I got a schedule later." Lucky's eyes widen upon hearing his brother's words. "Really?" he speaks in awe, feeling shocked. "Ya' heard me Luck! You can sleep on that all you want today." Patch's words made Lucky to almost scream in joy but Patch says "Shh!" to which Lucky refrains himself from screaming and after that says sorry. "So Lucky, wanna go outside?"
"Yeah!" Lucky stands up using his paws. Patch goes first outside from the basket and passing through the curtains, with Lucky following behind him whilst the both of them maneuver their way and avoid waking their siblings up. "Hey Lucky, I think this is gonna be hard but do you know how to sneak?" Both of them look around seeing their brothers and sisters sleeping together as one group, undisturbed and calm with little open spaces to walk around.
"Yeah I know how to sneak Patch, watch me." Lucky sways his head to his side away from his brother and sways it back, smiling and his eyes looking at his brother with confidence. Patch however gives him a confused look at his brother but nevertheless, Lucky walks first while Patch follows behind him. After a few seconds of maneuvering, Lucky sees that they are almost near the door but just as he begin to run, he trips all of the sudden and tumbles on top of his siblings for two seconds before landing on his belly. Patch reacts with a worried look and rushes to his brother whilst avoiding touch on his siblings to not wake them up.
"Lucky! Are you okay?" Patch approaches near Lucky who stands up using his paws. "Yeah I am alright Patch. Sorry 'bout what happened, I shouldn't have done that." Lucky says while hanging his head low. "Yeah Lucky, maybe ya' shouldn't do that next time." Lucky gets up on his paws and so both of them walk towards the door. Upon being the near the door, Lucky proceeds to run to the outside of the kitchen.
"See you Patch by the window!" Lucky catches his brother by surprise and so Patch exclaims "Hey!" and races against him after. Both of them run with all their speed towards the couch to climb on it and reach the window afterwards. However Lucky was ahead in the race and so he jumps on the orange couch, serving as a floor for them to view the street outside.
"I win! I win!" Lucky rejoices however was interrupted by his panting and so he lies flat on his belly, tired from running. After a few seconds of panting on top of the couch, he jumps three times with arrogance.
"Take that Patch!" He stands with confidence with a smug look on his face whilst Patch jumps and then lands on top of the couch. "Yeah I take that Lucky but don't get too proud, let's see who wins the race next time!"
"You bet!" Lucky bites his brother's right, black ear softly and latching his mouth on it while Patch responds by moving his head towards the left, struggling to let go of his ear from Lucky's mouth. They afterwards fought playfully on the couch, with Lucky still not letting go of his brother's ear and pushing him down whilst Patch struggles against Lucky who is trying to limit his movements. However they are not able to notice that their parents are watching them by the kitchen door.
Eventually Patch manages to free himself, using his hind legs to push Lucky away from him and his paws as well to push away Lucky's face. Both of them chuckle afterwards and then walk near the window to observe outside, Patch being on the left side while Lucky is on the right.
"Wow! There's so much to look at!" Patch's sarcasm confuses Lucky who looks at him and raises his left eye. "What? I'm just joking Lucky."
"Oh. I'm sorry I didn't get it." Lucky says in response which causes the both of them to chuckle and then continue observing the street outside. "Hey Lucky, can you promise me something since I'll be gone later?"
"Yeah Patch, what's that?" Lucky asks. "Could you please keep Penny safe? I know mother's taking care of her but she's also taking care of everybody else. She's my best friend and sister and I don't want anything bad happen to her, even if Cruella isn't around."
"Of course Patch! Just like with Cadpig, I promise!" Lucky speaks with eagerness in a defensive position. "Thank you Lucky!" Lucky, being the sweet puppy as he is nuzzles his brother's chin with the top of his head. "Of course I will never forget to say, you're welcome Patch." Both of them smile for a brief moment before stopping their affectionate nuzzles.
"Patch, I'm bored here. Maybe we should explore the upper room over there, I wanna' know what other things are in there." Lucky refers to the attic where Roger would play and make music. Both of them stand and look at each other smugly. "Yeah I'm bored too. Maybe we could find that Cruella song I'm tryna looking for."
"Yeah Patch, let's go." Both of them stand up and proceed to walk towards the stairs and into the attic.
"Oh how I am filled with joy seeing both of our children at peace Pongo." Perdita speaks in awe about her sons then licks Pongo's mouth. Pongo then looks at her and speaks.
"You could say that Perdy, give me the whole day and see them like that. But you know, I've been thinking about our two boys. They seem eager to watch over their brothers and sisters, quite the watchdogs I didn't seem to expect. And who knows, if either of them wants to be a farm dog when they're older, herding puppies will be good practice! Since we're moving to the country, they might just want to make a career of it."
"Are you certain about it dear?" Perdita asks. "Certainly darling, our pets were quite having a good time looking at the countryside." Pongo reassures her and then licks her as affection.
However in a faraway place is a mansion surrounded by leafless trees. Inside of the mansion is darkness for anyone to explore. Beneath can be heard an angry woman speaking to herself, swearing vengeance. The cigarette smoke rises from beneath the mansion, the basement to be exact. Inside the basement, she picks up one of the dog cages to rearrange them.
"Watch this you discount Debussy, this plan is meant to be easy! I'll kidnap your puppies, hold them ransom until you HORRID man take that HORRID song off the radio. Wait until my reputation recovers, RE-kidnap the puppies, and make stoles out of every last one of 'em!" She laughs briefly.
"Then I will finally acquire what I needed, a fabulous DALMATIAN FUR COAT!" She laughs intensely with all evil poured out from her heart, swearing her promise until it can no longer be heard above the mansion.
