A/N: It's finally here... the day we've all been waiting for.
I have never planned a wedding nor been in a wedding and I haven't attended a wedding in over 6 years, so this was kinda tricky for me to write accurately. But, I put so much thought into this wedding. I scoured the web for what they would wear and where they would get married. And because I want everyone to see exactly what I'm picturing in my brain, I put together this google slides to show you. Enjoy. presentation/d/1hKYTEflLgo34Whi2_t5MVP7TBTvVjV1CHGB8dfYY3ik/edit#slide=id.g2a4326aa61a_0_78
Now, I put this episode right before 4x16. But there is no case in this chapter because obviously it has to be all about our favorite fictional couple. So, on with the show!
[I do not own Rizzoli & Isles]
Champagne filled glasses clinked in midair as cheers of 'salud' filled the dining room of Jane and Maura's home. They had just finished dinner and dessert after returning from the rehearsal at the venue. Laughter was heard as conversation flowed easily around the downstairs. Tommy and Susie were talking on the couch in the living room, TJ playing on the floor in front of them. Frankie, Korsak, and Angela were sipping champagne and conversing in the dining room. And Jane and Maura stole a moment to themselves in the kitchen.
Frost stood in the middle of the room and clinked his glass with a spoon. All eyes went to him. He cleared his throat. "I just wanted to say a few words. When I first joined homicide, I thought I'd just tough it out and ask to get transferred later. I never thought that I'd be where I am now. That I'd have the friends I have. That I would be a part of this family. Jane, you have truly been a great partner a remarkable friend. And Maura, well, you helped me conquer my disgust of dead bodies. I loved working with you guys and I am grateful to have watched your relationship grow into this magnificent love story. You have the kind of relationship I aspire to have one day. I am honored that you have included me in your special day and I wish you both a lifetime of happiness."
Everyone raised their glasses again and sipped their drink. Jane and Maura shared a chaste kiss.
"Well, I've gotta get going," Tommy announced. "I have to get TJ home."
"I should head out, too," Susie added.
"You know we should all probably get going," Frankie said. "We've got a big day tomorrow!"
The group said their goodbyes and finalized where and when to meet in the morning before they all went on their way, leaving Jane and Maura alone for the night.
Jane closed the door on Angela, the last to leave, and headed over to Maura who was sitting at the island. Jane put her hand on Maura's back and kissed her head.
"You ready for tomorrow?" Jane asked.
"You have no idea," Maura responded, a wide smile spreading across her face.
...
Maura gasped as the car pulled into the Villa at Ridder Country Club. She had been here numerous times before – to tour the venue, to see the wedding planner's ideas and decorations, to do the rehearsal – but it never looked more beautiful than it did today.
The car stopped at the entrance and Maura climbed out. She was surprised to be greeted by her parents.
"Mom, Dad, what are doing here?" Maura asked. "I wasn't expecting you until later."
Constance greeted Maura with a kiss on both cheeks and Arthur gave her a quick hug.
"We wanted to spend the day with you. It's not every day your daughter gets married," Constance explained.
"I'm glad you're here. Come on, I'll show you inside."
Maura led her parents into the establishment. Their wedding and reception were taking place outside, but the Villa provided suites for the wedding party to get ready in. She was showing her parents where they could wait and mingle when she ran into Tommy.
"Maura! Hey, happy wedding day!" Tommy greeted.
Maura gave him a hug and then introduced him to her parents. "Mom, Dad, this is Tommy, one of Jane's brothers. He is also my best man and his son is our ring bearer."
"It's so nice to meet you, Tommy," Constance said as she shook his hand.
"Are you guys as excited as I am for this wedding?" Tommy asked.
"Yes, we are delighted," Arthur replied.
"Maura!" Frankie was briskly heading towards them.
"Good morning, Frankie," Maura greeted.
"Jane was just asking me if you were here yet," Frankie said.
"You can let her know that I am here and I am about to begin getting ready."
"Great. I think Susie is waiting for you in your dressing room."
"I will head that way, then. Oh, where are my manners? You haven't met my parents, have you, Frankie?"
"Uh, no." Frankie turned to address the couple next to him. "Hi, I'm Frankie Rizzoli. I'm Jane's brother and best man."
"It's lovely to meet you," Constance replied. "Maura, darling, why don't you go get ready. I'm sure Jane's brothers can show us where we can wait."
"Absolutely," Tommy replied.
"Okay. I will see you later," Maura said as she turned and headed towards her dressing room.
Tommy and Frankie took over escorting Maura's parents to the reception area. The whole way they talked about how much they love Maura like a sister. It warmed Constance's heart to know that her daughter was so loved by the family she was marrying into.
...
Jane stared in the mirror in her dressing room. She adjusted her white, off the shoulder jumpsuit to fit just right. She had to look perfect for Maura.
The makeup artist and hair dresser had left moments ago to go get Maura ready. Jane was pretty much set and would be essentially twiddling her thumbs until the ceremony. She had all this nervous energy to burn off and no way to do so. She just wanted to head down that aisle now and marry the love of her life.
A knock at the door pulled Jane from her thoughts. "Come in," she called.
The door opened slowly to reveal Angela, wearing a beautiful pale pink lace floor length gown. She entered the room and gasped when she saw her daughter.
"Oh, Janie, you look beautiful," she said.
"Thanks, Ma," Jane replied as she embraced her mother.
When Angela pulled back from the hug, she had tears in her eyes. "I'm just so proud of you."
"I never would have made it here without your support." Jane said. "I just wish Pop could've been here, too."
"I know, Janie. I wish he could see what a beautiful relationship you and Maura have. But, let's not dwell on it. Let's celebrate with who is here because everyone that loves you and supports you is sitting out in that garden waiting to watch you marry the love of your life."
Jane smiled. Angela tucked a stray strand of hair up into Jane's updo.
"Oh," Angela said. "I almost forgot." She handed a small, blue velvet box to Jane, who opened it to reveal a beautiful gemstone necklace. "My mother gave this to me on my wedding day. I always wanted to pass it on to you."
Jane sniffled as she attempted to hold back her tears. "Thank you, Ma. I love it."
Angela wrapped her daughter in another hug. "For a while there I thought you would never get married," she joked.
Jane lovingly rolled her eyes. "Just waiting for the right girl to come along."
"You couldn't have done better than Maura." Angela pulled the necklace out of the box and clasped it around Jane's neck. "Now, let's get you married."
...
Susie fastened the last of the buttons on Maura's deep V-neck silk charmeuse wedding gown. "There," she said when she was finished.
"Thank you, Susie," Maura replied.
"Thank you, Dr. Isles – Maura – for letting be a part of your big day."
"Of course. You're one of my closest friends."
"That means so much to me. I've never told you this, but I really look up to you. I think that you're amazing."
"Oh, Susie." Maura pulled Susie in for a hug.
A knock on the door interrupted them. Susie went to open it and upon seeing it was Maura's mother, excused herself from the room to allow mother and daughter a moment before the ceremony.
"Oh, Maura, darling, you look stunning," Constance gushed.
Maura admired her reflection in the mirror and smiled. "Do you think Jane will like it?"
"Oh, she'll love it!"
"Thank you for coming. I know that it's hard for you to take time off with your busy schedule."
"You're getting married. I wouldn't miss this. For weeks now I've been telling my friends about your wedding. I am so immensely proud of you. Jane is a wonderful woman and I know that she treats you well."
"I love her very much."
"Which is why we are all here! And speaking of, it's about time now, isn't it?"
"Yes, I suppose it is."
"Well, then, let's go."
...
Down on the grounds, chatter filled the air as 150 of Jane and Maura's closest friends and family milled about in anticipation of the nuptials. Korsak stood in the middle of the modestly adorned arch awaiting his friends' grand entrance. Music began to play and the attendees quickly quieted down.
Tommy appeared at the end of the aisle, TJ in a wagon behind him. Tommy pulled the wagon down the aisle and TJ smiled as he passed the guests. The sign affixed to the back of the wagon that read "Ring Police" had the people chuckling. Tommy reached the end of the aisle, picked up TJ from the wagon, and handed him to Angela in the front row. Then he took his spot as Maura's best man.
Following behind Tommy was Frost and Susie. They walked down arm in arm and took their spots on either side of Korsak. Next came Frankie. He walked down the aisle at a brisk pace knowing that the attendees were anxiously awaiting the arrival of the brides. Frankie took his spot next to Frost as the music changed and the audience stood.
Jane started down the aisle, a bouquet of pink and white flowers clutched in her hands. Her smile was wider than it had ever been and she felt like she was floating on air. As she passed Angela she could see tears freely flowing down her cheeks. She noticed that Frankie's eyes were looking moist as well. Jane handed her flowers off to Frost, who set them in a vase on a side table set up off to the side of the archway. Jane then turned to face the end of the aisle in time to see Maura begin making her down to her.
Jane couldn't help but smile even wider when she saw her fiancée. Maura was stunning in her gown. Jane had always thought Maura dressed to walk a runway show, but today, Maura looked more beautiful than Jane had ever seen.
Maura glowed as she walked down the aisle, her flowers matching the bouquet that Jane carried. Tears stung her eyes when she saw Jane watching her. Jane looked radiant. She couldn't believe this was actually happening. She, Maura Isles, was marrying Jane Rizzoli. At the end of the aisle she saw her parents, Constance and Arthur. Both had tears in their eyes. And that fact was enough to send the tears in hers rolling down her cheeks.
Finally, she reached Jane. She passed her bouquet to Susie and turned to face her fiancée. Jane promptly wiped Maura's tears as she whispered a "Hey" and joked "Crying already?" which made Maura laugh. Korsak cleared his throat to get their attention and when he had it, he began the ceremony.
"Ladies and Gentleman, we are gathered here today to celebrate the love of two of my closest friends, Jane Rizzoli and Maura Isles. These two ladies have been on a roller coaster of a journey over the last few years. And through it all they have managed to come out of it stronger. They made it easy on me today and wrote their own vows, so Jane, why don't you start."
Jane pulled a piece of paper out of her pocket and unfolded it. She took a deep breath, then began. "For the longest time I thought that I would never get here. I thought that I would either have to suffer through a one sided marriage or never get married. I thought that there would never be anyone worth coming out for. But then you walked into my life and I knew that I never wanted to live a life without you in it, even if that meant we could never be more than friends. I will forever be grateful that you kissed me in my hospital room after I shot myself. Because I finally got to have you in the way that I wanted. I got to love you in the way that I wanted. I have loved every moment that we've spent together these last three years. Every memory we've made. Every obstacle we've faced. It's made me love you more. And I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life overcoming obstacles and making memories with you. I love you with all of my heart."
Jane folded her paper back up and slid it back into her pocket. She turned around and grabbed Maura's ring from Frankie. She smiled at Maura as she slid the ring on Maura's finger. "Maura Isles, I love you and I promise to spend every day showing you how much I love you."
Maura pulled her hand back and turned to grab her vows from Tommy. She shyly wiped the tears from her eyes and began reading her vows to Jane. "Three years ago I took the biggest risk I have ever taken. I told my best friend that I was in love with her. I was prepared to hear that she didn't love me in that way, but I ended up kissing her, dating her, getting engaged to her, and now, standing here with her. Jane, you are everything. You have given me a love that I never thought I would find. You protect me, you care for me, you put my needs ahead of your own. There are moments when I simply cannot comprehend how I was lucky enough to find someone who loves every part of me the way that you do. I have never been happier than when I am with you. I cannot wait to see what our future holds. I love you, so much."
Maura handed her vows back to Tommy and he passed her Jane's ring. She slid Jane's ring onto her finger. "Jane Rizzoli, I love you and I promise to spend every day for the rest of my life showing you how much."
Jane grabbed both of Maura's hands and smiled. Maura returned it with an even wider one.
"If there is anyone who believes that these two should not be wed, speak now or forever hold your peace," Korsak said. Hearing only silence, he continued. "By the power vested in me by the internet, I now pronounce you wife and wife. You may kiss the bride!"
Jane grabbed Maura's waist and pulled her in for a bruising kiss. The crowd clapped and cheered for the newlyweds.
Jane pulled back from Maura. They clasped hands and made their way back down the aisle as Mrs. and Mrs.
...
"And now, introducing Mrs. Jane Rizzoli and Mrs. Maura Isles!"
Jane and Maura walked into the reception tent hands held high in the air between them. They did it. They were finally married.
They headed toward the dance floor and shared their first dance as wives. There was not a single person without a smile in the entire tent. After their dance, they headed towards their table for dinner, getting stopped multiple times along the way by guests offering congratulations.
And then came the speeches. Frankie was up first. He clinked his glass with his silverware to get everyone's attention. Then he grabbed the mic from the DJ and began.
"Hi everybody. I'm Frankie. I'm Jane's brother and best man. For those of you that don't know, Jane is my big sister. And growing up I wanted to be just like her. She wasn't your typical little girl. She didn't wear dresses and play with dolls. No, my sister was tough and strong. She didn't take shit from anybody. And I admired that. I wanted to be like her so badly, I became a cop, too. And now I have something else to aspire to. Because I want to find a love like the one Jane and Maura have. What you two have is special. It's what we all strive for. Congratulations on finding your forever." Frankie raised his glass. "To Jane and Maura." Everyone in the tent followed suit and raised a glass to the newlyweds.
Tommy took the mic from Frankie. He didn't know how he was going to top his brother's speech, but he was going to try.
"Hi. I'm Tommy. I'm also Jane's brother. And I'm Maura's best man. I was actually really honored that Maura asked me to be her best man. I didn't really know Maura until a couple years ago. I met her after she started dating Jane. We got really close, though. She's a great chess partner. One time we got held hostage by mobsters together. That was interesting. Gave us a chance to talk while we waited for Jane to come rescue us."
"Get to the point, Tommy!" Jane yelled.
"Right. Anyway, I'm really glad that my sister married Maura because now I have another sister. And this one's actually nice to me. But seriously, congratulations Jane and Maura. I hope you two have the most amazing life together." Tommy raised his glass. "To Jane and Maura." And once again everyone raised their glasses to the couple.
The night closed out with cake and more dancing. Jane and Maura stole moments together here and there. And they counted down the minutes until they could privately celebrate being married.
