Freya led the others into Elijah's bedroom, where Elena was still sleeping in his bed. "Elijah, it will easiest if you lay on the bed next to Elena."

Elijah nodded and did as his sister suggested.

"How long will this take?" Stefan asked. He was still very uneasy about this. He didn't like the fact that Elena was going to be linked to an original, and he knew Damon was going to be furious. He also knew that this spell had never been done before, so they had no idea what the affects would be. However, it wasn't his decision. Elena was the only one who had a say in whether this happened, and she made her decision.

"I'm not sure, but probably quite a while. It will probably take hours to get enough of Elijah's blood into Elena, which means I'm going to have say the spell many times between now and then until it holds. Then I'll need to perform the other spell. It's going to be a long night.

Klaus entered the room a few moments later. He had the cooler of blood with him. "Well, the older Salvatore is secure in the basement. You're free to get started, sister."

"How shall we do this?" Elijah asked.

"The old-fashioned way. I had Klaus pick up some medical equipment that I'll need to transfer your blood into Elena. It will be easier that way. I warn you now, brother, that this will not be pleasant for you," Freya told him.

"I suspected as much. Do what you must," Elijah said.

"Perhaps it will be better if he drinks more blood while this is happening," Klaus suggested.

Freya shook her head. "I don't think it will work, and we're going to need most of it for when he and Elena wake up."

"Niklaus, Hope is not returning anytime soon, correct?" Elijah asked. He did not want his niece around when there would soon be two starving vampires in the house.

"No. Cami has agreed to keep her until I ask her to bring her home," Klaus told him.

"Good," Elijah said before turning to Elena. "It's almost over. You will be back with us soon."

Bonnie looked at Elijah as he spoke to Elena. It was very clear to her in that moment that whatever feelings Elena had had for him, Elijah returned. It probably should've been clear even before now. No one would be selfless enough to put themselves through what Elijah was about to unless they loved the person.

"One more thing before we start. Once I've started this process, it cannot be stopped. No matter what you see, do not interrupt," Freya said in a strong tone.

"Wait, what exactly is going to happen?" Caroline asked. Freya's words made her nervous. It sounded like Elena might be hurt or something.

"I don't know. No one has ever tried this spell before. I have absolutely no idea what the affects will be. That is why I'm warning you. If you don't think you can control yourself if things get frightening, you need to leave now," she said.

"We're not leaving," Stefan said firmly.

"Agreed. We won't interrupt," Caroline promise.

Freya immediately got to work attaching the necessary equipment to Elijah and Elena. She watched for a few minutes as the blood began to flow from Elijah into Elena at a slow rate. "Okay, we're going to start now. Remember, no matter what you see or hear do not interrupt.

Freya lit the candles and began the incantation. He spoke five times, but nothing happened. She didn't expect it to right away though. There wasn't nearly enough blood in Elena for the spell to hold. She repeated the process every five minutes for the next hour.

At that point, Elijah began to pale considerably and feel a bit weak. He guessed it was the spell itself because he didn't believe he'd lost enough blood yet.

Another hour passed with very little change, but then, Elijah stiffened and yelled out in pain. Next to him, Elena did the same, although she mainly groaned in pain.

"Elena," Caroline whispered. It took everything she had not to go to her friend.

Klaus put his arm around Caroline, both to comfort her and to stop her should she be tempted to interrupt the spell. Klaus would only admit it to himself, but he was having trouble standing there while his brother withered in pain as well. It wasn't often he saw Elijah so vulnerable and hurt, and it had never happened that Klaus just stood by and allowed it.

"No one do anything," Elijah groaned out and in pain-filled voice. He knew that everyone in the room would be tempted to stop this, maybe even Freya, but he wouldn't have it.

Freya forced herself to keep repeating the incantation over and over again, despite her brother's pain. She expected this. She knew that this would be taxing for Elijah. It didn't make it easier to watch though.

As time passed and Freya continued the spell, Elijah's pain only got worse. At one point, he screamed extremely loudly. His entire body hurt. He felt like his organs were burning him alive. His body continued to get weaker as well as he lost more and more blood.

Freya continued to say the spell until both her brother and Elena settled again. She then touched Elena's hand. "It's over. Elena is a vampire again."

"Wait, she's already a vampire. She doesn't have to transition?" Caroline asked.

"No," Freya said before turning to her brother. "How are you feeling, Elijah."

"Weak," Elijah said in a barely audible voice. He was still in pain, but not nearly as much as before. The blood loss had him near desiccation though.

"I'm afraid it's not over. I still need more of your blood for the other spell," Freya said.

"Perhaps we can wait until he's regained some strength," Klaus suggested.

"No. We finish this now," Elijah mumbled weakly.

"Klaus, use some empty blood bags to collect his blood. I need at least four pints," Freya said before taking her brother's hand. "You're going to desiccate soon, brother, but you'll be okay."

Elijah nodded.

"I can hear Damon downstairs. He's awake and pissed," Stefan said.

"Ignore him. He can be as pissed as he wants, but this was Elena's decision. We're going to honor that," Caroline said as she watched Klaus begin to fill blood bags with Elijah's blood. By the time the first pint was finished, Elijah began to desiccate.

"Bonnie, come here. I need some blood from you too. Not nearly as much," Freya said.

Bonnie nodded before going over to her. She let Freya cut her palm and pour her blood into a bowl for a few seconds.

When Klaus finished with Elijah's blood, his brother had completely desiccated. He then brought the blood over to his sister. "Shall I give Elijah blood now."

"You can try, but I don't think it will help until his blood replenishes," Freya said as she added Elijah's blood to the bowl. She took a few drops form Elena and added it too. She then began the incantation. This spell wouldn't take as long as the first one did. She should only need to say the incantation a couple of times before Elena woke up, as long as it worked.

"Come on, brother, drink," Elijah said as he opened his brother's mouth and poured some blood into it. It didn't seem to do a lot of good though. Usually, a vampire was revived from desiccation after a couple drops of blood hit his system, but Klaus poured the whole bag down in throat and it didn't do much good.

Elena's eyes popped open moments after Freya completed the spell and she jumped up.

"Elena!" Caroline exclaimed before she, Bonnie and Stefan made it to her side.

"Elena, are you okay?" Bonnie asked.

Elena breathed heavily for a few moments and then uttered only one word. "Blood."

"Here, Love," Klaus said before passing her a blood bag.

Elena snatched the bag from him before guzzling it as fast as she could. She was starving. She didn't remember the hunger being so extreme after she turned the first time. It became bad when she couldn't feed because of the sire bond, but when she was first turned, it wasn't like this. "More."

Klaus gave her three more before continuing to try to revive Elijah with blood.

Freya sat down at the edge of the bed. She was exhausted. Those spells had drained a lot of her energy. "You can stop, Klaus. It's not doing any good."

Elena continued to feed but no amount seemed to be helping. She could also hear screaming. It was extremely loud, and she was pretty sure it was Damon. "Someone please stop the screaming."

"It's Damon. He's chained up in the basement," Stefan said.

"Make him stop," Elena said.

Stefan nodded before leaving the room.

"Are you okay, Elena?" Bonnie asked.

"No, I'm starving. I can't make it stop. Why? It wasn't this bad before," Elena said.

"Maybe because you didn't transition this time," Caroline suggested.

Elena finally noticed Elijah laying next to her, and she touched his arm. "Elijah."

"He'll be okay. His blood just needs to replenish," Freya assured her.

When Elena touched Elijah, her hunger increased, and she realized why she was so hungry. The hunger wasn't hers, at least not all of it. "The hunger is coming from him. That's why I can't stop it. He's starving. I can feel it."

"You can feel his hunger?" Bonnie asked in disbelief.

Elena nodded. "He needs more blood."

"It's not helping right now. His blood needs to replenish before it'll do him any good," Freya told her.

"Maybe you won't feel it once you're away from him," Bonnie said.

"You're crazy if you think I'm leaving him," Elena said before grasping his hand. Physical contact made the hunger worse, but she would not let go until he woke up. She would certainly not be leaving him.

"Elena, being that close to him is clearly hurting you," Bonnie said.

"I don't care. It hurt him to do what he did, but he did it anyway. I am not leaving him alone," Elena said, leaving no room for argument. She would be sitting by Elijah's side until he woke up, maybe even afterwards.
