"So, let me get this straight. You want me to drive without any directions and pull over whenever we find somewhere worth stopping?" Thalia asked once her blonde friend stepped into the passenger side of the car.

Annabeth nodded. "We agreed we were going to make this last month of summer worth it. What's better than a little spontaneity?"

Thalia cast her a surprised look. "Nothing. I'm just mad I didn't think of it before you." She said before starting up the car again and pulling away from Annabeth's house.

Annabeth stuck her tongue out at her and turned the volume up on the car radio. Thalia had one of her hard rock metal CD's playing. Annabeth wouldn't be surprised if that's what Thalia woke up to first thing in the morning. The screaming from the speakers made her laugh and she placed the pair of sunglasses she had resting on her head onto her face to block her eyes from the bright sun.

It was unbelievably hot that day. Annabeth wore a white Coca-Cola tank top tucked into a pair of red denim mom shorts. She finished off the look with her white high-top converse and a red bandana she had tied into her hair. Thalia had on another pair of black shorts with a black and red plaid tank top. She wore her black converse along with the outfit. Both of them had on sunglasses, Thalia a black pair of Ray Ban's and Annabeth a gold pair.

"I don't how you're not burning up. Black catches the heat more than any other color." Annabeth commented as she cranked the air conditioning up.

Thalia shrugged. "Well when your whole closet consists of mainly one color you don't really have a choice. Besides, black's cool." She said nonchalantly. Annabeth rolled her eyes.

"One day I'm going to get you in a yellow sundress and you'll never look back." She teased.

Thalia scoffed. "Never gonna happen Annie. I'd like to see you try."

"I'm just saying a little more color would look great on you." She continued.

"Like I want to take fashion advice from someone who looks like a walking Coca-Cola advertisement." Thalia joked.

Annabeth gasped in mock hurt, hitting her arm swiftly whilst Thalia laughed at her own joke. "I'm just going to pretend you didn't just say that."

"Well your reaction says otherwise." Thalia said, still laughing mockingly.

"Shut up."

They passed signs and buildings along the road as they drove. Nothing seemed to grab their attention much. Occasionally Thalia would make a random turn and they would end up on a different road. It went on like that for twenty minutes until Annabeth spotted a small store in the town they were passing through.

"Let's stop there." She said animatedly, pointing to the store window.

"Figures you want to stop at a vintage store." Thalia sighed as she stared at the store called Time Not Forgotten. She could practically feel the excitement radiating off the blonde.

"Can't we find somewhere else? I mean laser tag is always fun." She suggested. Annabeth gave her a death glare.

"Oh no no. We did your activity yesterday now it's my turn. Not to mention the boating trip almost got us into huge trouble afterwards." Annabeth replied.

"Key word being almost. Come on, you had to have known I would call in a favor with my dad to get us out of it." Thalia said.

Thalia's father was Zeus Grace otherwise known as one of the most powerful men in their area of California. He owned a very successful electric company and even if he wasn't involved in law enforcement, he could somehow convince anyone to do anything for him. Not to mention he was rich, so he paid his way out of everything. Thalia didn't have the best relationship with him. When her parents got divorced her younger brother Jason went with their mom and Thalia lived with their dad. While other kids' parents were volunteering at school events and going to athletic games Zeus was always too busy to spend time with her. Even for her graduation he attended but left right after congratulating her. Annabeth had a theory that one of the reasons why Thalia acted out so much was because she wanted attention from him. She called him whenever she'd gotten herself into trouble with school or outside of it. One phone conversation between Zeus and the owner of the boat had gotten them out of trouble yesterday.

"Either way I think I should choose for today." Annabeth added.

"You did. We did your little spontaneous driving thing." Thalia argued. Annabeth gave her an 'are you kidding me?' look.

"Please Thals. Please please pleaseeeee. It's a freaking vintage store! Stuff from different decades everywhere! We haven't been to this one yet. You might even find something you like." The blonde pleaded.

Thalia sighed heavily. She knew was going to regret it. Once they entered that store, they wouldn't be leaving for hours. Thrift stores and vintage stores were basically Annabeth's heaven. It was similar to how a kid would act in a candy store. Thalia was always in charge of making sure her best friend didn't spend her entire paycheck whenever they went to one.

Annabeth cheered happily as Thalia parallel parked on the curb next to the small store. She anxiously waited for her to turn the car off and as soon as Thalia took the key out of the ignition Annabeth opened the car door.

Bells jingled above them when they opened the door to the vintage store. Every which way there were shelves upon shelves of knickknacks covered in dust. It was a small space but whoever the owner was had made the most of the area.

Thalia spotted a desk near the back with a cash register. No one was standing behind it. She wondered where the store owner was. Before she had any more time to think about it, Annabeth grabbed her by the arm and practically dragged her over to the first isle. Poodle skirts and greaser jackets covered the sides of the wall. It must've been the section of the store dedicated to the 1950's. Annabeth stared in all directions, trying to take everything in. She picked up a glass figurine and admired it before placing it back on the shelf.

They passed a few more crowded isles; old Beatles records and miniskirts for the 60s era. Pink Floyd shirts and vintage bell bottom pants filled their vision as they walked through the 70's themed section. Annabeth stopped multiple times to pick up some object or another. She would smile at it and then put it back down. She was basically running through the store to try and look at everything while Thalia walked slowly behind her.

A few minutes later Thalia nearly ran into Annabeth when she stopped running and stood at the entrance to the next isle. She took one look at what the isle in front of them held and instantly knew why her best friend had frozen.

"Thals…" Annabeth started.

"I know, I know. Don't let you spend your entire paycheck." Thalia said, finishing the sentence before Annabeth could.

[ Song Tribute-True Faith by New Order]

They had made it to the area of the store where all the 1980's era merchandise and clothes were. Annabeth was practically glowing with delight. Bright vibrant colors and patterns flashed before her eyes. Stacks of old records; David Bowie, Madonna, Michael Jackson, The Cure, New Order, Pat Benatar, Hall and Oates, AC/DC, Scorpions, Bruce Springsteen. Any and every artist that was popular from the 80's seemed to have at least one album for sale.

Neon colored clothing and leotards with wild zigzags. Rubber bracelets and fingerless gloves. Annabeth ran her fingers over the shelves, smiling wildly and getting lost in her own world. A brown vintage bomber jacket with patches. Jean jackets and old Super Mario Bros video games. Cassette tapes and old newspapers with memorable headlines. Everything you could imagine from the 80's she found packed into the tiny isle in the vintage shop.

Annabeth was proud to be such a fangirl when it came to anything 80's related. People could make fun of the time period all they wanted but there was no denying that it was one of the most unforgettable eras for anyone lucky enough to have lived it. Her father would constantly be referencing or relating something to his life in the time of big hair and legendary music. She asked him about it all the time when he was alive and that was why she loved it so much.

And it wasn't like Annabeth considered it all perfect. She knew there were a lot of drawbacks to the 80's including the boundless homophobia and racism. Unfortunately, those things still existed today but she liked to think there had at least been a little improvement since then.

She had her reasons for liking and disliking the era.

While Thalia busied herself looking through the records and cassettes of rock bands, Annabeth picked up a few things she simply wouldn't leave the store without including a small fuzzy koala bear pin. She thought it was adorable.

She paused to look at a few newspaper clippings. Most of them seemed like they were just decorations around the various objects, but Annabeth still found them interesting nonetheless.

One in particular caught her eye. The headline and article were cut short so she could only read half of it, but she got the general idea. Someone had gotten into an accident and died. The date wasn't visible but there was a picture of a group standing together along with a singular picture of the person. Annabeth felt a pang in her chest. What a tragedy.

Next to it was another newspaper clipping with the headline Crackdown on Rave Parties. It was about the police busting an illegal gathering put together by some recent high school graduates. There were more words than there were pictures in that one, but the story was still interesting. She found herself reading more and more of the clippings used for decoration. She read an old superman comic, concert highlights, and an advertisement for cigarettes.

When she got to the jewelry part of the isle, she was bombarded with bead necklaces and plastic bangles. Besides the cheaper jewelry Annabeth noticed quite a few pieces that were pricy as well. A pair of gold disc earrings and some silver necklaces lined up along the side. She picked up one of the silver necklaces. It was a simple heart pendant with a long chain. She checked the price and put it back, knowing that she shouldn't spend too much on one thing. It was crazy how everything she was looking at in the store was so much cheaper when it was popular back in the day and in the present, everything was expensive because it was vintage now. She wondered what things would be expensive from her generation in the future.

She noticed something shiny cast a glare towards her right after she placed the heart pendant back in its box. Her hand must have moved the jewelry box a little because the glint of light was behind it. She moved aside the first box and reached for it. Her fingers found a small velvet box and she pulled it out.

Inside the box was another necklace. Two necklaces to be exact. Each had a silver chain with a pendant in the shape of a record. The record was split and each one had one half of the record. They joined together perfectly to form a single circular silver record.

She didn't know why, maybe it was because it was from the 80's or maybe she just thought it was pretty, but for some reason she felt almost…drawn to the silly piece of jewelry. She stared at it for a few moments, trying to figure out what it was about the two necklaces that made her feel so strange and why they had been tucked away out of sight.

"What do you have there?" Thalia asked, bringing her out of her thoughts.

"Uh friendship necklaces…I guess." Annabeth deduced from the two halves of the necklace.

Thalia took the box from her and stared down at the silver. "Hmm…not bad." She said, twirling one of the chains around her finger. "But I think we're a little old for friendship necklaces."

Annabeth rolled her eyes. "It's two pieces that make a silver record. Who cares? They're awesome."

"I see you've come across the Time Bond necklaces." A voice came from behind them. Annabeth turned around, startled to see a woman in her early thirties standing at the end of the isle.

She had light brown eyes and brown hair. Her outfit consisted of a simple pair of jean shorts and an orange t-shirt. She eyed them curiously and based on her confident stature and appearance Annabeth could only assume she was the store owner. Not to mention she also knew the names of the necklaces they were looking at.

"I- um yeah, they're really cool." She responded dumbly. Thalia chuckled from behind her. Well what was she supposed to say?

The woman smiled. "Yes, they are indeed. I'm Hestia it's nice to meet you." She said formally before outstretching her hand.

Annabeth thought it was a little odd that she was being so formal, but she shook her hand and introduced herself nonetheless. Thalia followed suit. She had an aura around her that was almost peaceful.

"I haven't seen a pair of bond necklaces show up in a long time." Hestia muttered as she stared down admiringly at the velvet box still in Thalia's hand. Annabeth furrowed her eyebrows in confusion.

"Well I mean they were kind of hidden back behind the shelf…if that's what you mean." She said confusedly. How could the store owner not know where their merchandise was? That should have been Annabeth's first clue that something was up.

Hestia smiled, taking her eyes off of the box and looking back up at them. "Right. Of course."

Thalia gave Annabeth a look of uneasiness. "How much? There's no price on them." The darker haired girl asked.

"Tell you what. Since it looks like you're buying several other things I'll gift them to you free of charge." Hestia proposed.

Annabeth beamed. "Really? Thanks! Well now we have to get them Thals."

Thalia smiled at her excited best friend. "We'll take them. Thank you."

Hestia nodded in response. "You won't regret it. Tempus Relics have a way of…finding their owners."

"What do you mean?" Thalia asked.

"Let's just say that as long as you're in the right place at the right time…they'll give you the adventure of a lifetime." Hestia stated whilst staring once again at the box lost in deep thought.

Annabeth was beyond confused by that point. The woman was friendly and welcoming but also suspicious and mysterious all at once. She noticed Thalia shift uncomfortably to her left.

"Right, well…we're pretty much done anyway so if you could just ring us up that'd be great right Annie?" Thalia asked after a beat of silence.

Annabeth could tell she wanted to get out of there as soon as possible and while she could spend another two hours just looking at everything from the different decades, she figured it would be best to listen to Thalia in the current situation.

"Yeah." She agreed.

Hestia gestured them over to the cash register near the back and Annabeth paid for the various vintage collectibles and a couple clothing pieces she'd picked up. Thalia went after her having found an old rock t-shirt that was one hundred percent her style.

"Come again soon!" Hestia shouted as they grabbed their bags off the counter. She smiled at them as if she knew something they didn't. Annabeth smiled back and then they were outside of the store. They got back in Thalia's car, but she didn't start the engine.

"Tell me that was not the creepiest woman you've ever met. I mean no wonder we were the only ones in the store." Thalia stated.

Annabeth smacked her arm. "Oh come on. She was nice. Sure, there were some awkward moments but hey we each got a free necklace out of it." She said positively.

"Well if you ask me, I think she's a bit off her rocker. 'As long as you're in the right place at the right time'. What does that even mean? And what the hell is a Tempus Relic?" Thalia mocked in a serious tone in attempt to mimic the store owner.

Annabeth laughed. "I don't know. Just give me one half of the necklace." She insisted.

Thalia sighed, grabbing the box out from one of the bags. She opened it to reveal the two pieces of silver. Gently, she lifted them out of the box and handed one to Annabeth. The blonde smiled and took it from her. She undid the clasp and fit it around her neck. She was glad the chain was a little long so it wasn't choking her. Thalia took her half out as well. Once they both had them on, they sat quietly in the car for a beat.

"Well that was anticlimactic. I thought these were supposed to give us 'the adventure of a lifetime'" Thalia mocked again.

"I'm home Mal!" Annabeth shouted as she shut the door behind her after seeing Thalia drive off.

"Oh, hey Annabeth" A female voice greeted from the staircase.

Annabeth turned, meeting a familiar set of hazel eyes and slightly wet dirty blonde hair.

"Lucy, hey! I didn't know you would be coming over today." She said, embracing the girl in front of her warmly.

"Where have you been all day? Loving the outfit by the way." The other girl complimented once they had stepped back.

"Thanks. Oh, I was just out with Thalia."

"Of course you were. You two are joined at the hip." She joked.

Annabeth laughed. "We found this old vintage store and did a little shopping."

"A little? I think we have very different definitions of what that word means baby sister."

Malcom Chase descended the stairs two at a time whist looking at the bags she had in her hands. Annabeth rolled her eyes at him sarcastically before she took note of the fact that he too had damp hair and smelled of scented shampoo. It didn't take long for her to connect the dots between her brother and his girlfriend. Sometimes she really wished she didn't notice so many details.

"It's just a few jackets and some 80s knickknacks, nothing major." She refuted.

"Do I have to remind you of the time you forced me to go to the skateboard shop downtown and spend hours waiting while you bought practically everything in sight?" Lucy teased, crossing her arms over her chest as she stared at Malcom who was trying to come up with an argument.

Annabeth snickered at the fact that the older girl had rendered her brother speechless. "And that right there is why I love you Lucy." She said, high fiving her in the process.

Malcom glared at her. "I hate it when you two team up on me. I mean Luce you're my girlfriend. I expect this from my sister but you-"

Before he could whine any further Lucy leaned over and closed the distance between them with a peck. That seemed to do the trick because afterwards the blonde male was grinning ear to ear. She then turned to Annabeth, casting her a look as if to say, 'boys are idiots, but you got to love them'. Annabeth smiled in response.

Lucy really had been the best thing that could have come into Malcom's life. They had been dating for nearly four years. They met through shared friends just a little over a year from when Fredrick and Athena Chase had died. Annabeth knew Malcom did everything he could to make sure she was doing ok, but she knew that he needed someone too. As much as she tried to comfort him, sometimes she just didn't think it was enough. When he met Lucy, he was happier and Annabeth noticed his old self coming back instead of the closed off fake-smile Malcom that tried to put up a front to convince her he was fine.

"I should get going. I promised my dad I would visit him and I'm already running late." Lucy stated, checking the time on the clock behind them.

"Well I'm not going to apologize for making you late cause I believe it was your idea to-" Malcom started before getting cut off by Annabeth this time.

"O-kay! Well I'm just going to go basically anywhere that isn't here. I'll see you Lucy." Annabeth muttered before walking up the stairs. She did not want to hear whatever the end of that sentence was going to be.

"Payback's a bitch!" She heard her older brother shout after her.

She took a seat on their small couch after placing the bags in her room. She heard the front door open and close briefly as Malcom lead Lucy outside to her car. As much as she found it weird a girl actually liked her brother and a decent girl at that, she couldn't help but be a little jealous of their relationship. She would never admit it to anyone, especially not Malcom, but she wanted something like that in her life. She saw the way Malcom looked at Lucy. They loved each other. Annabeth couldn't tell you what it felt like to be in love. Sure, she'd had opportunities to get to know guys, but nothing ever sparked. She thought maybe she might have had something with the one boyfriend she had but before she could explore the feeling any further, he cheated on her. Needless to say, she was very cautious and guarded when it came to that department now.

Malcom came back in a minute later, bringing Annabeth out of her thoughts. She hadn't even noticed that she'd been twirling the silver chain around her neck unconsciously.

"So unless you feel like cooking, I'm thinking pizza or Chinese for dinner tonight." He stated after collapsing on the couch next to her.

Annabeth nodded. "Sounds good."

"One question though." She spoke up a minute later before he could turn on the TV.

"Shoot"

"When are you planning on finally asking Lucy to move in?"

The words took him completely off guard and his head snapped in her direction. "What?"

"Oh come on Mal. You've been dating for almost four years. I'm honestly surprised she hasn't gotten tired waiting for your ass to say something."

Malcom stuttered, opening and closing his mouth repeatedly. Annabeth stared at him amusedly. "What-I…well I haven't really asked her about it cause in case you haven't noticed little sis we live in a small two-person townhouse and last time I checked there's two of us."

He gestured to the two of them and Annabeth rolled her eyes. "I know that but in case you haven't realized I'm headed across the country in a month for college."

"Well yeah but you're still going to visit."

"Of course, but I'll only be able to come home for the Holidays and summers. It's just going to be you living here while I'm gone so why not just invite Lucy to move in? We both know how much she can't stand her roommate in her own apartment."

Malcom stared at her for a long time. She had no idea what he was thinking.

"I mean…I…Annabeth are you absolutely sure? I never really gave it much thought because I thought that you wouldn't want-"

"Yes, I'm sure. Mal you need to stop putting me first all the time. Sometimes it's ok to want something for yourself. Especially now when it makes logical sense since I'm moving to New York for most of the next four years." She cut him off.

Malcom smiled, looking at her a little lost in thought. "You know sometimes you're pretty tolerable you know that?" He said after a beat.

"I know. I'm the best." Annabeth bragged sarcastically.

"I wouldn't go that far-hey!" Malcom whined, rubbing his arm after Annabeth smacked him.

"Please. It wasn't even that hard you baby." She teased.

Malcom scoffed, grabbing one of their throw pillows on the couch and smacking the back of her head with it when she wasn't looking. Annabeth turned back to him instantly, gasping that he had the audacity to do what he'd just done.

"Oh, that was a huge mistake big brother." She said warningly.

Malcom got up from his spot on the couch and held the pillow up to defend himself as his sister grabbed a different pillow from the couch. She slammed it down on him and he stumbled blindly towards her.

"You're on little sis!" He shouted. Annabeth screamed and nearly slipped on the carpet as she ran away from him. She heard him laughing behind her as she breathed heavily whilst trying to find cover behind the couch.

It went on like that for a good half an hour. The two of them acting like five-year old's trying to see who would surrender first and almost knocking the shelves down in the process. It was moments like these that Annabeth really cherished because even though they were both legal adults they could still have fun with each other like all siblings should.

He might have been an idiot, but she didn't know what she would do without him.

Chapter 3 complete! I hope you guys liked it. This was a significant chapter and you'll see why later. I promise Percabeth is coming you just have to hang in there! In the meantime, what did you guys think? I love writing the clothing descriptions in this story and in this chapter in particular I loved Annabeth's outfit. Hestia obviously knows something they don't so what's up with the necklaces? And what about Lucy and Malcom? Pretty cute if you ask me. Last but not least, Annabeth and Malcom's relationship. Sibling goals man. I adore them. Let me know! Love you all!
