Hi! Back with another chapter for you guys! I really hope you like it I worked super hard on it. I'd love to see how you all are reacting to this story so far! I read all the PM's and reviews I get and this story is particularly special to me because it incorporates my love of 80's music. Alright I'll let you get to it!

[Song Tribute-Holiday by Madonna]
"Ok what about this one Thalia?" Silena asked before holding up yet another shirt from her closet.
"Yeah…no. Much too light for my taste." Thalia replied, instantly denying the prospect of wearing a light purple tube top. Silena sighed in frustration, looking deeper into the depths of her closet to find something for the punk rock girl.
Annabeth laughed. She had been in Silena's shoes on more than one occasion. Getting Thalia to wear anything that wasn't black or grey was nearly impossible. Considering the fact that Silena's favorite color was pink and all her other shirts that weren't pink were light or had some sparkle design on them, Annabeth was starting to give up hope that they would find anything for her best friend to wear. Luckily, they had found a pair of black jeans in Silena's closet for her to wear as bottoms, but it had already been half an hour and no compromise had been made on a top.
As Silena kept bringing out more and more blouses and suggesting them to Thalia, Annabeth closed her eyes and let herself fall back against the bed they were sitting on. The radio was playing a song she knew all too well. The singer's voice carried out through the entire room. As soon as they had arrived at Silena's house the girl practically shoved them into her bedroom and ran to her closet. Her radio had already been playing music, some of Madonna's greatest hits. That had led to her and Silena having a 10 minute conversation on what music artists her new friend listened to. Madonna seemed to be a personal favorite of Silena's along with Blondie, Cyndi Lauper, and Taylor Dayne.
She felt like they were in one of those old films with the 80s music blasting through the radio as teenage girls got ready to go to parties. There was always a montage of clothes and dancing that accompanied the scene. Based on the fact that they had somehow travelled through time, Annabeth didn't think anything was impossible anymore. She wouldn't be surprised if Silena just started singing and dancing out of the blue like they were in some musical. It didn't happen.
"That one's not bad" Annabeth heard Thalia say, bringing the blonde out of her thoughts as she sat up straight to see Silena holding a solid navy-blue tube top in her hands. The fabric was plain, no sparkles or sequins. It was simple and she instantly knew Thalia wouldn't mind wearing it.
Silena sighed like the biggest weight had been lifted from her shoulders. "Oh thank god" She whispered loud enough for them to hear before handing Thalia the shirt so she could go change.
"Now onto you Annabeth." Silena said, not missing a beat once Thalia had gone off to change in the bathroom.
Annabeth smiled. "Don't worry. I'm much easier to please." She wished she'd never spoken those words once Silena grinned widely and brought out an entire rack of skirts.
It only took a short five-minute argument but eventually Annabeth caved and chose a black tight-fitted skirt that reached mid-thigh. Silena paired it with a red colored velvet tank top.
"You've got a rockin bod Annabeth!" Silena complimented once she had changed into the outfit. She had never felt so self-conscious in her life. The outfit was tighter than what she had anticipated but based on the looks Silena and Thalia were giving her, she looked alright.
"Now I'll just go change and then we'll do accessories!" The brown-eyed girl said happily before running off.
"So little miss cheerleader got you into a skirt huh?" Thalia teased once she had left the room.
"Shut it. You're wearing quite a revealing tube top instead of a t-shirt, so it looks like she got us both." Annabeth argued, crossing her arms in front of her chest. Thalia glared at her, wishing her hair was slightly longer so that it could cover her bare shoulders.
"I can't wait to figure out what accessories entails." Thalia said sarcastically.
The next half hour went by in a blur. By the end of it the three girls were ready for a night out on the town. If you told Annabeth a week ago that she would be going to an underage 80s night-club wearing what she currently had on she would have laughed in your face.
Silena wore a tight-fitted neon pink dress. Underneath she wore a pair of black fishnet stockings and some pink high heels. Around her waist, well more like around her mid-stomach area because that was the trend, she wore a collection of silver and black belts. Her makeup was similar to what she had on earlier in the day-pink eyeshadow and mascara to match her dress. She wore a pair of white star shaped dangling earrings and a collection of pink and white bangles on her wrist. Pearl necklaces galore adorned her neck and hung down onto the fabric of the dress. Her black hair was teased up pretty high with a puffy scrunchie hidden in it.
Thalia's outfit consisting of the navy tube top and black jeans was enhanced with a pair of black dangling earrings and black fishnet fingerless gloves. The only necklace she wore was the silver record one she had already been wearing. Silena did her makeup by using smoky eye shadow and a little bit of purple to stand out against her skin tone. The piece that brought the entire look together was the shoes. A pair of black pumps that Silena had practically forced her feet into. Thalia was not happy with the footwear but eventually she got over it. Silena agreed to not touch her hair much so besides a little extra volume, her hair looked the same.
Annabeth was decked out in a collection of pearl necklaces similar to the ones Silena was wearing. Each one was a different length and rested against her velvet tank top. Her own half of the silver record necklace was mixed into the mess. She wore a pair of red fingerless gloves on her hands along with the two rings she always wore on her fingers. A pair of black dangling earrings in the shape of lightning bolts adored her ears along with several black plastic bangles on her wrist. Her legs were bare underneath the skirt because Silena had gone on and on about the fact that her legs were incredible and should be shown off. Red eyeshadow adorned her face with some red lip stick and black eyeliner. Her hair was probably the highlight of her outfit. Silena had made her curls more prominent and voluminous. They had probably gone through an entire can of hairspray that night. At the last second Silena had added a red bow into the mess of blonde curls. To tie it all together she wore her white high-top converse on her feet. Silena had tried to make her wear heels but when Annabeth threatened to change out of the skirt she agreed to the choice of sneakers.
"Annabeth you look so good it's not even fair. I would kill to have natural hair like yours or a figure like that! Not to mention your grey eyes really pop with that eyeliner." Silena remarked once the three of them were dressed.
Annabeth smiled, nervously playing with her hair. She was never really good at taking compliments. Thalia was constantly telling her she got a lot of attention from guys, but she was oblivious to it. Don't get her wrong she appreciated the compliments it just made her feel awkward at the same time. She thanked Silena shyly as she led them downstairs and out to her car.
Here we go Annabeth thought as they drove to some unfamiliar destination in a completely unknown world.
[Song Tribute-Beat It by Michael Jackson]
Annabeth didn't know what she was expecting when the three of them walked through the double doors after paying a small cover fee.
Music blared through the entire room at a volume that shouldn't have been possible. Girls dressed similar to the way they were dressed either talked in groups or danced on the dance floor. She noticed a bar in the far corner of the room. Since it was an underage club, she assumed they were handing out non-alcoholic drinks. That didn't stop a few of the guys who were sneakily drinking out of a flask towards the back. Most of the people in the place seemed to be around 18 or 19 just like them. Colorful lights lit up the dark room, switching from red to green to blue, basically every color of the rainbow. There was a stage across from them, but no one was on it yet. She saw a few instruments set up on the platform so she figured some group would be performing soon. A rush of excitement filled her at the thought, she loved live music more than anything. Her and Thalia had gone to a fair share of concerts, but it was something that never got old.
As they walked further and further into the club, she noticed Silena getting called from all directions. People stopped to say hi to her and ask her how she'd been. She always waved back or greeted them wholeheartedly. Annabeth felt like she was walking next to a celebrity or something.
"This is insane" Thalia whispered in her ear as they walked. Annabeth didn't know what to say so she just nodded in agreement, trying to take everything in.
Underage night clubs like the one they were at didn't exist anymore. There were clubs sure, but none that played 80's music and were full of teenagers dressed in the craziest of outfits. Everyone was either dancing or having a laugh with their friends. A good amount of the crowd was drunk from having pre-gamed even though they were underage. At least there were some things that never changed.
"This is Thalia and Annabeth. Guys meet Calypso aka my best friend." She heard Silena's excited voice say. Annabeth managed to snap back to reality just in time to see a girl with light brown caramel-colored hair and hazel eyes. She pulled them both into a hug, taking them completely off guard.
She looked quite pretty in a neon green fishnet shirt that hung off one shoulder with a black tank top underneath and a grey skirt that flared out at the bottom with leggings underneath.
"So nice to meet you guys! You're both so gorgeous! Sorry I couldn't come over to get ready Sil. I got off work late and barely had time to change." She apologized breathily after pulling away from the two best friends.
Silena waved it off casually. "Don't worry about it! Besides, I had my hands full with these two trust me." She teased.
"Yeah Annie over here was a real piece of work." Thalia scoffed.
Annabeth rolled her eyes before turning back to the girl who had hugged them. "It's nice to meet you too Calypso." She half-shouted to make sure she could be heard over the music
"Can you believe they've never been here Callie?" Silena voiced after another moment had passed.
"What? That's crazy! I suppose me and Sil will just have to teach you our ways." Calypso replied sarcastically, turning towards the two of them excitedly.
Before Annabeth knew what was happening Calypso was grabbing her hand and Silena took Thalia's. They were hastily dragged into the overflowing crowd of people dancing. Their two new friends seemed quite intent on getting as close to the stage as possible. Annabeth had to apologize every two seconds to someone she crashed into as Calypso pulled her forwards. It was hard to breath in the environment of the dance floor. Sweaty bodies swaying side by side and a faint odor of hairspray hung in the air. When they finally stopped, they were at a pretty good location relative to the stage.
"Perfect. Now we'll be able to see them perform without looking over a hundred heads." Silena remarked after they stopped.
"I'm guessing you two are big fans?" Annabeth asked, already knowing the answer to her own question as she eyed the stage curiously.
Silena smiled. "Don't really have a choice. They're idiots but they're also some of our best friends. They play good music too though, a variety of cover songs. Charlie's the manager and Callie's dating the drummer. I think you two will really like them."
Annabeth nodded in understanding. It made sense the two girls would want to support the band especially if their boyfriends were involved in it. She was as anxious as ever to see them perform.
[Song Tribute-Love is a Battlefield by Pat Benatar]
"I love this song!" Calypso shouted a minute later as she leaned forward to grab Silena's hand.
Annabeth grinned, recognizing the song from the first few notes as it blared through the speakers.
"Come on!" Silena said before taking Annabeth by the arm as Calypso grabbed Thalia.
"Oh I don't dance. Especially not in these things." Thalia stated, staring down at the heels she was wearing.
Annabeth laughed as Calypso spun her around, nodding her head to the music and feeling the heels of her feet move to the rhythm of the song. She turned to face Thalia.
"Live a little Thals! What have we got to lose?" She said loudly, giving her best friend a begging look. The interaction seemed to last forever. Thalia crossing her arms over her chest and standing in place whilst Annabeth danced to the beat.
When Thalia hadn't responded, Annabeth managed to grip both her hands in hers, moving them side to side frantically to match the fast-paced song. Annabeth made a series of facial expressions as her converse shuffled across the floor. Happy, surprised, concentrated. Eventually she got Thalia to laugh.
Slowly but surely the choppy-haired girl began to dance. Annabeth hollered in victory. Silena and Calypso beamed at the two of them, joining them as the song continued to play. Annabeth closed her eyes, savoring the moment as she ran a hand through her hair with the fingerless glove she was wearing. Their skin reflected the colors from the strobe lights, turning their faces to a shade of blue at one point. She could not believe this was her life for the next few months. Just a few days ago she'd been dancing to an 80's song playing from her iPhone as she got ready for work. Singing into her hairbrush as if it was a microphone and wishing more than anything to be where she was now. That morning felt like an entire lifetime ago which, in a way, it was.
When the song was over the four of them were a sweaty mess. Annabeth could feel the adrenaline pulsing through her veins. They laughed and that was when she knew her and Thalia were going to get along well with the two other girls.
They danced to a few more songs, feeling the vibrations in their chests from the bass. On more than one occasion she'd felt a pair of eyes on her belonging to the opposite sex. The exchange would always end in her hastily turning back around, her cheeks a rosy color. Smooth Annabeth she would think to herself each time. Beckendorf found them at some point during the night and joined in on the fun, explaining that he had come from wishing the band good luck. It was around half an hour later when the lights to the stage lit up and excited cheers filled the audience. Whoever the band was they seemed to have a lot of fans.
"How's everybody doing tonight?" A tall brown-haired boy asked enthusiastically from the stage as he gripped the microphone resting on the stand while the other band members readied themselves with their instruments.
The crowd responded by shouting loudly in excitement. Calypso and Silena included. The guy, who Annabeth assumed was the lead singer, laughed into the microphone. He looked to be around 18 years old with blue eyes and light brown hair. He had on a simple white t-shirt with a dog tag necklace and a pair of acid wash jeans. On his fingers he wore several rings. He had a scrawny figure but a dazzling smile that got a few excited shrieks from some girls closer to the stage than they were.
"That's Miles. Miles Arrington to be exact. He's a local around here just like me and Charlie so we've known him a while. If you haven't already guessed it, he's the lead singer. That boy is constantly singing, doesn't matter if he's on stage or not. Deep down he's a real dork but we love him anyway." Silena explained loud enough for both Annabeth and Thalia to hear.
"Glad to hear it! Well if you don't mind, we were thinking of playing a few songs for you guys. That sound good?" He continued. Once again, he received a response of cheers and hollers of agreement.
"Awesome! Now this first one I'm sure you're all familiar with." As soon as the words left his mouth the sound of a drumbeat came from the back of the stage.
Annabeth's gaze fixed on a guy sitting on a chair in front of a set of drums as he pounded them with his wooden drumsticks. She couldn't tell how tall he was since he was sitting down but appearance wise, he had tan skin and a lean frame. He looked Hispanic and his hair was a mess of brown curls quite full of volume. It was hard to see what color his eyes were but if she had to guess she would say brown. He wore a pair of bright orange suspenders over a grey shirt.
[Song Tribute-Working for the Weekend by Loverboy]
Calypso noticed who she was looking at and smiled. "That right there is my goofball of a boyfriend. Leo Valdez. Only thing you need to know about him is that he cracks jokes about every two seconds and has absolutely no filter. He'll probably break out into song or dance at least once when there's an awkward situation so brace yourself." Annabeth laughed at the comment. The way Calypso talked about him was sarcastic but endearing.
Everyone's watching, to see what you will do
Everyone's looking at you, oh
Everyone's wondering, will you come out tonight
Everyone's trying to get it right, get it right
Annabeth screamed along with the audience on instinct. The song was one she hadn't listened to in a while, but all the lyrics came back to her as soon as she heard the opening verse. Thalia laughed at the blonde's reaction. She appreciated the song as well. It was a good mixture of rock and 80's pop.
Annabeth looked away from the lead singer and Leo to focus on a boy to the left of the stage playing the bass guitar. He had pale features and dark hair. He was dressed all in black. Like a male version of Thalia but with outdated clothing from the 80's. He looked a little timid but as the song picked up it seemed like he was getting more comfortable as he strummed the bass.
Everybody's working for the weekend
Everybody wants a little romance
Everybody's goin' off the deep end
Everybody needs a second chance, oh
"Nico D'Angelo. He's in the year below us but we adopted him into our group when we saw him getting bullied in the halls. Poor thing didn't really have anyone before us. When Miles found out he could play bass he became an even closer part of our circle. He doesn't talk much but occasionally he'll open up. He's like that person you just want to protect from the world you know?" Silena informed them as she danced along to the song.
You want a piece of my heart
You better start from start
You wanna be in the show
Come on baby lets go
The sound of an electric guitar filled her ears when the solo came up. Excited shrieks of joy from girls followed. Whoever had been playing was insanely good, strumming the cords to the song as if it were second nature. Annabeth turned her attention to the left side of the stage where the guitar solo was coming from. Her eyes were met with the attractive dark figure of a well-built, raven-haired male. He was nodding his head along to the beat, staring down at his fingers playing the gorgeous dark blue electric guitar.
Annabeth didn't know why she was suddenly so fixated on every movement he made. She couldn't even see his face that well for Gods sake. Judging by the fact that the audience members closest to him were practically swooning she figured she was right in thinking he must be good looking.
He was wearing a pair of dark washed jeans with ratty black converse. A tight fitted blue t-shirt hugged his body and he had on a black leather jacket over top of the solid shirt. She felt her heart rate pick up. She had a thing for leather jackets. It was like a weakness of hers. If she came across a guy wearing one she suddenly got nervous. Thalia thought it was hilarious.
He finished the solo and Miles resumed the lyrics to the song.
Everyone's looking to see if it was you
Everyone wants you to come through
Everyone's hoping it'll all work out
Everyone's waiting they're holding out
"W-who's that?" Annabeth cursed herself for stuttering on her words as her focus stayed on the lead guitar player.
Everybody's working for the weekend
Everybody wants a new romance
Everybody's goin' off the deep end
Everybody needs a second chance, oh
You want a piece of my heart
You better start from start
You wanna be in the show
Come on baby lets go
Silena looked over to where Annabeth's gaze was. She studied the expression on the blonde's face carefully. A small grin placed itself on her lips.
You want a piece of my heart
You better start from start
You wanna be in the show
Come on baby lets go
"That's Percy Jackson. Guitar player extraordinaire from New York." Silena stated sarcastically.
Beckendorf laughed at his girlfriend before continuing the explanation. "He's modest about it but clearly the dude is insanely good at guitar. Always learning new songs to play. Makes him quite a hit with the ladies. He's a great guy though. One of the best I know and incredibly loyal. He stays in his dad's old beach house with Leo every summer when they visit. Those two are basically brothers. In terms of his backstory well…it's not my place to tell you but he hasn't exactly had the easiest past you could say." A sad expression flashed across his features, but he shook it off.
Annabeth furrowed her brows in confusion, curious as to what Beckendorf meant. Before she had any more time to think about it the girl in the neon pink dress spoke again.
"He never shuts up about music though that's for sure! Any and every kind of music. Pretty sure if he could marry it, he would." She joked in a more lighthearted tone in attempt to avoid the heavy topic.
Thalia chuckled. "Where have I heard that before?" She said, staring pointedly towards Annabeth as the song came to an end.
You want a piece of my heart
You better start from start
You wanna be in the show
Come on baby lets go
The cheers from the crowd were deafening. The band of boys looked as pumped up as ever after receiving praise. Annabeth heard Miles laugh into the mic again. They seemed to take a minute to themselves before starting the next song. Getting a feel for the atmosphere and the people.
Percy lifted his hands off his guitar, leaving the instrument hanging from the strap around his body. He smiled widely out at the groups of people before him, breathing slightly heavier than usual from having moved around a lot.
He scanned the crowd for the familiar faces he knew had come out to see them play. He grinned when he found Beckendorf with his arm around Silena cheering them on. Calypso was behind them clapping happily. Next to her was a dark-haired girl he'd never seen before wearing a navy-blue top. Hmm they must have made a new friend he thought. How Calypso and Silena managed to make friends every five minutes would forever be a mystery to him.
Finally, his eyes moved over an inch to the right and his breath caught in his throat, the smile dropped from his lips as he stared at her in awe.
Grey eyes like storm clouds in the middle of a downpour. Beautiful blonde princess curls. Skin that was practically flawless. Long eyelashes and perfect full lips colored red with lipstick. She was absolutely breath-taking.
Annabeth's breath hitched.
Green irises but not just any green, a shade that could only be described as how the sea looks on a perfect summer day. Messy black windblown hair that strayed in every direction. His facial features were accompanied by two dimples as if he couldn't possibly get more attractive.
It was a feeling neither one of them had ever experienced before. Focusing on nothing but each other. The moment was indescribable. They were in a night club but at the same time it felt like they were elsewhere. Distorted reality. A twilight zone.
Time stood still.
I'm sorry! I know I left it on a cliffhanger, but Percy Jackson has finally arrived everyone! Nico, Leo, Calypso, and my OC too of course. It only took 7 chapters lol. So let me know your thoughts on this update! I'll hopefully have the next one out soon but I can't promise anything because college is killing me right now haha. Love you all!
