The Worst Reincarnation Yet
Chapter 1: I'm Whitley?! Shit!
The sun rises as a canopy of gold, bright amid the blue, bidding the stars to take their nightly rest. As darkness surrenders, every color changes from tinges of charcoal to a vibrant shade of red. The sunlight danced across the bedroom through a few cracks in the curtain, the light felt warm as it touched the young man still sleeping soundly in his bed. "... W-What?" He slowly began opening his eyes, revealing light blue eyes that seemed to be shining like crystals because of the sun. "... Am I...am I alive?!" The boy was shocked as looked at his hands and moved his feet. "T-This can't be! I remember being attacked by a few thugs in the slums last night, so how am I here...?" His gaze turned to the bedroom, it was quite the fancy room for a patient in a hospital.
"There's no way I'm in a hospital." He quickly got up and noticed that his body was different. "... I'm a bit smaller than before?! How the hell?!" He was puzzled as he didn't know what was happening. When he looked around the bedroom again, he noticed a large mirror and went to check it. Right then his expression changed as he didn't know who he was looking at. "... W-What the?! T-This isn't me!" Shock and surprise were all he could feel at the moment while staring at his reflection.
White hair like the soft webs of a spider and gem-like blue eyes. "Oh no, no, no, no way! God Dammit! I died last night, didn't I?!" He immediately realized who he was and where he was. "... I can't believe this! This is the world of RWBY, and I'm... Whitley Schnee." Though the boy understood everything now, he was still in panic as this made no sense to him. "Ah crap! None of this should be possible. Instead of eternal darkness, my soul must have gotten somehow transported here, and now I'm in this guy's body." He pinched himself in the butt cheek to make sure this was real. "Dammit, so this is really happening."
A sudden knock at the door made him jump in surprise. "W-Who is it?"
"It's Klein, young master." He opened the door and let himself in alongside the maids, though one of them was carrying a big mysterious sack. " The maids are here to clean your bedroom and I have been ordered to make sure you attend breakfast as your sister arrived last night from Beacon." The butler placed the clothes on the corner of the bed. "Please dress quickly, as your father will be attending breakfast as well, and you know how angry he will be if you get there late."
"... S-Sure, t-thanks Klein." Whitley bowed his head in gratitude, which left the butler quite perplexed. "Something wrong?"
"Oh no, my apologies, I'll help the maids while you get ready, young master." Klein started to work, while Whitley changed his clothes in the bathroom. Hmm, this is the first time the master has ever bowed his head to anyone, and to a mere servant like myself...strange, very strange indeed.
After a few moments, Whitley left the bathroom and presented himself before the butler with the attire that was brought for him to wear. The new outfit consisted of a short-sleeved white dress shirt, the sleeves fastened just above his elbows by navy blue cuffs, each with twin gold buttons. Over his untucked shirt was a light blue vest, with a black handkerchief in his right breast pocket. Also, a black necktie, navy blue trousers, and black shoes. "Not really my taste, but I guess it will have to do for now." He mumbled a little.
"You look wonderful, young master." Klein praised. "Oh, before I forget, I have this to show you." He took a big sack from one of the maids and emptied it on the bed, the contents were letters and plenty of them at that. "As you can see, these letters are from multiple ladies from respectable families that wish to gain your favor and affection." The butler gave one of the letters to the boy. "I believe your father wishes for you to pick a bride to secure your position, and it seems there are many young ladies that are fond of you, master."
Whitley opened the letter and read it. He was in shock and began to read a few more letters as he needed to make sure this was real. Wow, sure this is exciting since there are plenty of girls that are queuing up to marry me, this never happened in my previous life but...let's think this over carefully, I belong to the Schnee family, the richest and strongest family in Remnant, so it's not really the girls that are interested in me, it's their fathers!... So, that means I'm loved by old men!
...FUCK!
His expression of disgust was visible to the servants. "Klein! Burn all these letters, at least they will make a good fire to warm ourselves. Also, we should get going."
"Of course." He bowed his head. Strange, normally he would be acting cocky and brag about it to everyone in the household...did he maybe mature?
Both of them made their way toward the dining room. Decorating the hallway were a number of paintings of nature, though they all seemed the same because they lacked vibrant colors and shared the same shades of color; white, grey, and pale blue. Running the length of the hallway was a long blue rug with white floral designs, and along the walls were occasional black armchairs and glass coffee tables with metal frames. "The family sure has a fancy mansion but to be honest everything looks bland and the same no matter where I look, it could use more vibrant colors wouldn't you agree, Klein?"
"W-Well what you say may be true, young master, but the lord believes the colors of the Schnee family should be everywhere in the manor to show its strength and unity." The old butler replied.
"Strange, but to each their own, I guess." Whitley was somewhat nervous. "D-Do I have to attend breakfast? I can always see my sister later."
"But the lord has taken some free time from his busy schedule to attend this breakfast with his two children, you know how he loves his family, don't you master?"
"Bullshit! I call that bullshit! That man only cares about money and power."
"Ha! Haha! Hahaha!" Klein laughed. "I suppose so, young master, but do try to get along with miss Weiss at least."
Whitley sighed. "I'll try my best." With that said, they arrived at the doors that led to the dining room. Alright, let's forget about the old man because from what I remember from the show he is a piece of garbage, but Weiss is one of the main characters and is not so bad so I better get on her good side.
"You seem to have changed quite a bit, master."
Hearing the butler's words, it snapped Whitley back to reality. "Oh uhh, r-really?"
"Though not in a bad way." He warmly smiled, then he opened the doors.
The dining room featured black chairs gathered around a table covered in a large white tablecloth. The chairs were upholstered with blue fabric decorated in a repeated pattern of the symbol of the Schnee family crest. Whitley quickly noticed that his father and older sister were already seated and having their meal. With a quick fix on his necktie, he went towards them. "I apologize for being late father." He bowed his head. "And good morning, my sister, it is good to see you arrived safe and sound." She's really beautiful no doubt about that.
This left Weiss quite surprised by his behavior and the warm smile he was giving. "T-Thanks, i-it's good to see you, brother." The boy then took the seat next to her, leaving her even more confused, as he had never seated next to her before.
Even though the family sharing breakfast in relative peace, it didn't take long for the boy to notice the tense atmosphere in the room. God-damn! The tension between these two is so strong that I could cut it with a knife. Maybe I should say something to ease things...
"S-So, how are you doing, sister? I bet you are one of the best students in Beacon, right?" he nervously asked.
"Ah, w-well, I can't say I'm the best, but I am trying my hardest to get there." Why is he asking me such questions? We are not close, so why would he care if I'm well or not?
A quick slam of a cup brought the attention of the siblings towards Jacques. "Ha! Trying your hardest?! Don't make me laugh, doing your best would mean attending the most prestigious school here in Atlas and performing your duties as the heiress of the Schnee Dust Company, but instead, you are loitering around in a backwater Kingdom attending such a poor excuse of a school." The lord glared at his daughter. "All you are doing out there is dragging the Schnee name through the dirt."
Weiss glared at him, but she bit her lip and decided to not reply. "I don't believe that, father." Said Whitley as he finished cleaning his mouth. "My sister is not the type that would bring shame to the family, I actually think that she's doing her best in Beacon, not to mention her abilities with her blade and semblance surpass already many full-fledged huntsmen." Hearing those words made Weiss blush a little, as her brother never once took her side or defended her. "Oh, and let's not forget that she left home because of father, you always try to control everything and everyone."
Jacques got up from his chair with an angry expression. "How dare you lecture me, boy!" He slammed his fist on the table. "This is the first time I see you showing such disrespect towards me." The lord approached him and grabbed him by the collar. "This! This won't happen again otherwise the punishment will be severe now get out of my sight." Jacques pushed him to the ground and stormed out of the dining room.
"Wow...what an asshole."
Weiss offered her hand and the young boy took it, she helped him up. "I have no idea what is going on with you, but you never once faced our father like that." She fixed his necktie. "You left him completely furious, the only time I saw like that was when I left for Beacon, but why did you do that, idiot?"
"I am your brother, we have to watch each other's back." Whitley smirked. "L-Listen, I know we never did get along before, but from now on I promise to be the brother that you deserve to have. So, I will always have your back no matter what." Oh god! Such cringe, I almost vomited.
"... Idiot! That was so lame!" Weiss got flustered. "B-But, thanks for saying that, bro... Whitley." She smiled.
Klein watched as the two siblings that once were at odds with one another about everything were now acting like true brother and sister towards each other. The young master sure has changed. I really hope they can get along like this forever.
With the uncomfortable breakfast over, both siblings went to the courtyard for a little walk to relax after that taxing event. "I heard from Klein, you have been performing my duties while I am at Beacon. I know that attending all those boring banquets and social gatherings aren't much your style, I apologize for leaving you with such a burden."
"Uh? Oh, r-right, no worries." He replied sheepishly. "O-Oh, I wanted to ask what brought you back home, sister? I doubt it was to see our dear father."
Weiss giggled. "That much is true, I came back to see Winter since she promised she would be here today. I thought we would be able to spend some time together like when we were little, but I guess she's busy like always." It was clear the heiress was disappointed with the turn of events.
"Don't hold it against her, if she isn't here it's for a very good reason, I know she cares about you deeply."
"I-I know." She then grabbed his arm. "W-Well, I guess it can't be helped, I have no choice but to spend my time with you, little brother, so you better continue acting like a good sibling."
Whitley got embarrassed. "S-Sure thing." It was rather awkward for him, but at this point, he had no choice, gaining Weiss's favor was instrumental for his survival in the long run. "I heard the Vytal Festival would be happening in Vale this year, is that true?" I didn't have the time to check Whitley's memories, but I need to know for sure in which volume I currently am and try to avoid doing something stupid.
"Yes! In fact, in a few months, my friends and I will be competing in the tournament." She said with enthusiasm, it was clear she was excited about the festival. "You...you could come and see me fight...i-if you want, but maybe you wouldn't like it. J-Just forget what I said."
"Of course! I want to see my older sister fight and win, so you can show the power of the Schnee family to the world."
"Haha! You really have matured." It was the first time she felt closer to her younger brother.
The boy smiled. "As I said, you can always count on me, besides I need to travel to Vale to check on a couple of things so when you leave tonight I will accompany you." Whitley is shy and weak, but his knowledge is vast, and I can't count on the Schnee Dust's Company money forever, as soon they will be struggling to keep afloat. I need to find some good business ventures to make good money, and then I can find a hole to hide while the main characters deal with crazy witch-bitch.
"That's great, we can go together then." Said Weiss. "Though, I'm curious to see what you are planning of doing, it better not cause trouble for me during the tournament.
At that moment, his expression changed to one of despair. WAIT! Now that she mentions it, the Vytal tournament...on the last day the Grimm and that edgy bitch will invade the city and the school! Everything will go to shit in just a few months...
NOOOOOOOO!
Later that Night, Atlas Airport...
As night fell, the blue haze of day lifted to reveal the shining stars, Weiss stared at them as their beauty captivated her. The breeze rush through her, but the cold of Atlas was something she was accustomed to. "I can't wait to leave this place, Beacon is far warmer and more welcoming." The heiress didn't want to admit the real reason she felt like this. Returning home was difficult for Weiss as it was hard to see her family since all they mostly do is argue every time they are together but knowing she has friends who are waiting for her back at Beacon helps her cope with the pain in her chest. "At least Whitley matured a little bit, I guess this trip wasn't a complete disaster."
In the distance, Weiss noticed a couple of figures approaching, unfortunately, the darkness of the night didn't allow her to clearly see who they were. A tall black figure waved at her, she hesitated for a moment, but then she waved back. When they came under the spotlights of the runway, it was revealed to be Klein and her little brother, who seemed to have no reason to live as his feet were dragging in the snow. "My apologies for arriving late young heiress we had an issue to solve that took longer than expected, anyway I brought him safe and sound."
Whitley passed by his sister looking quite gloomy. Weiss raised an eyebrow and asked. "... Did something happen to him?"
Klein shrugged. "To be honest he has been acting this way all day, I have no idea why though."
"I guess leaving the manor might be harder for him than I thought." She felt a bit sorry for him. "Still, this was his choice, and who knows, it might be good for him to leave Atlas for a while."
"Indeed." The butler agreed. "Well, I assume this is it, my lady, I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors, and please don't take too long to visit again."
Weiss smiled as they hugged, for her Klein was the best friend she ever had, he was always with her whether they were good moments or bad ones he was always there for her. "Thanks, and don't worry I'll come back in a couple of months, also look after yourself, and don't let my mother do anything that will embarrass herself." With that said, Weiss turned to her brother and gestured for him to follow her. "We will be taking that one over there." She pointed at the enormous airship.
Whitley looked at it and noticed the airship was an old military model used during the Great War, though it had been retrofitted to be a normal transport ship now. Is that thing even able to take off without losing an engine? This worried him a little bit as flying was not something he was fond of. Well, guess I have to suck it up if I want to leave this doomed place. Still, it's a shame this kingdom will be destroyed later on...hmmm, maybe if I helped the main characters we could find a way to save this floating rock from crushing down...Ha! Hahahaha! Haaaaaa! No! I plan to live quietly like a mouse and not get involved with the plot.
After waiting for a while in line, they finally boarded the airship alongside plenty of people who were eager to leave as soon as possible. Both siblings went on the search for the room they will be staying in for the night. "I think it's that room over there, number 307 right?" He asked.
Weiss nodded. "That's the one." Weiss used the key card to unlock the bedroom, but the door jammed for a moment before closing. "Seriously?!" Her right eye twitched a little as she did not have the patience to deal with this, she kicked the door, and this time it didn't jam, so the path to a soft bed was now open. The bedroom was pretty simple and cramped, the two beds at least seemed clean enough to sleep in. "I suppose it could have been worse." She dropped her bag to the side and jumped on the bed.
"Ahh, I am going for a walk sister so don't wait up," Weiss simply groaned as she didn't have the strength to speak. "Gotcha, good night." Whitley left the room in a hurry.
While enjoying his little stroll, he took the opportunity to check his Scroll and confirm if the butler had done what was asked of him. Holy Crap! I knew we were rich, but this is dirty, filthy rich! YESSS! With this amount, I can do everything I planned for. The young man was almost drooling. Now, the first thing to do after I arrive at Vale is to go to Junior's nightclub and make a deal. Second, I need to get a bodyguard to keep me safe since this world is full of monsters and bastards. Third, to find a safe place to build my hideout.
Suddenly he bumped into someone. "Ahh! M-My bad." Whitley staggered a little, but when he got his bearings, he noticed the person on the ground.
The stranger had short, somewhat curly orange hair and a pink bow on the back of her head. She also had green eyes that seem to glow like emeralds, light skin and freckles. "Salutations!" The young girl said with odd enthusiasm.
"Uhhh..." The boy was having problems finding his voice. PENNY?! What the hell is she even doing here?! Wait! Getting close to her might be beneficial for me since Pietro is a genius. If I can find a way for him to do a few favors for me, this will all be worth it. With a big smile, he offered his hand to help. "My deepest apologies miss, I was distracted and did not see you, I'm Whitley Schnee and you are?"
"I'm Penny!" She got up with the boy's assistance. "... You said you were a Schnee? That's odd because I know a girl back on Beacon with the same last name as you, are you related to her?"
"Ah, you must be speaking of Weiss, I'm actually her younger brother, Whitley." He introduced himself while bowing before her.
That piqued Penny's interest. "Really?" She immediately got close to his face for a better inspection. "... Yes, I can see the resemblance, quite fascinating indeed."
Woah! Way too close! "Y-Yeah!" His face turned red. "S-So, y-you a friend of my sister?"
Penny nodded. "Although she doesn't seem to be fond of me, I still consider her a friend."
"Haha! Weiss can be a bit blunt and somewhat annoying at times, but she's still a nice girl deep, deep inside that icy heart." Whitley knew that Weiss was a little mean sometimes, but he understood why. "Still, I apologize on her behalf if she did anything that offended you."
"O-Oh, no need for that." Said Penny. "I understand her behavior towards me, I'm actually used to that, people are always telling me how weird I am, I guess I just make everyone around me uncomfortable." She lowered her head, it was clear from her tone that she was feeling down. "So having someone who can put up with me is enough. I just wished I could be the same as everyone else, so I could get along with them."
Now I just feel bad for her, I guess at this point she still has doubts about Team RWBY being friends with her. Well, I can relate to that as I too don't have any friends...guess we're both loners. "We might have just met, but I don't think you are weird at all. Also, why be like everyone else? You are unique and that's a good thing because it means you're special." Hearing that made Penny's eyes widen in surprise, she had never heard such gentle words from anyone except from her father. "So just keep being yourself, this is simple advice from one weirdo to another." He winked.
Penny giggled. "Hehe! Thank you."
The girl's gentle smile made Whitley's heart flutter. So cute! His Scroll suddenly began to make noise and shake in his pocket. "Ah, if someone's calling me at this late hour, it means it's important. I have to go, but it was a pleasure meeting you miss Penny, we shall meet again, of that I am sure."
"That would be great!" Penny said with enthusiasm. "Until we meet again." She waved at him.
Now, who the hell is calling me? Whitley looked at the Scroll and saw it was his father. Yeah, not going to pull the pin on that grenade.
