So this is a high school version of Scooby-Doo, inspired by SpongeAddict's Origins story, and Mystery Inc. I really love these stories and thought I'd write my own. This story will most likely have Fraphne + Shelma. I'm not the biggest fan of Shelma but I know people enjoy reading about these two. The story will probably be focused on Shaggy a little bit more then the others, however I'm doing POVs of everyone. I'm also very much Australian so school systems are different. I'll be basing this off my school system due to the fact I literally don't know how America's system works. Sorry Americans, it's not that different though.
This chapter contains swearing + mention of drugs.
Chapter 1. New Beginnings
X.X.X
"Like, I'm gonna be late for my first day, ugh man." Shaggy panted, jogging quickly.
His parents decided it was time to move away from beautiful, sunny California. They assumed his friends were bad influences on Shaggy Rogers. Well, I mean, they were. They did and dealt drugs, ensuring Shaggy with an endless supply of weed. He smoked regularly, but decided since he was moving, he should forget it. The worst part of it was that his best bud, Scooby-Doo, never even knew. Shaggy intended in keeping it this way, and if he just stopped, it would make it a lot easier. Even though their reason for moving was completely valid, and morally better, Shaggy still didn't want to go. He liked his friends despite their bad habits. And also, what kind of place is named Coolsville? The high school was undoubtedly going to be filled with the usual friend groups, jocks, nerds and cheerleaders. It would just be one toxic popularity contest and Shaggy was not excited for it. However, it was his last year of school, so making friends wasn't a top priority.
His shoes squeaked against the ground as he entered Coolsville High. The halls were filled with chattering students. Shaggy checked his phone.
'Only 7:50am. Like, I've still got 10 minutes.' he thought. Shaggy wore a green shirt with brown pants. Glancing around, he realised the only thing to do, was to find his locker. Thus, he began his trek through the crowds of people, walking past two airheads beating each other.

"Doof!" Fred cried as he felt a fist collide with his stomach. Fred swung back, hitting the tall red haired boy in front of him. The two continued swinging.
"Fred, lets call it tie." The boy spat, holding his cheek. They shook hands laughing, and began to trudge through the halls. They were both built like football players, wearing school jackets. However, under the jacket Fred wore a white sweater with an ascot and blue jeans. They towered over the juniors, stealing glances from everyone. Fred Jones was a strong, smart boy. He was the mayors son, so he really was a golden boy. He played quarterback in Coolsville's football team. Every girl swooned over him, yet it rarely ever ended up in a relationship. Fred didn't want to get it in with every girl like his best mate, Red Herring.
"Freddie!" A girl called. The two stopped walking and looked over at a black haired girl, running over them. She looked over to the ginger, "Oh, and hello Red, didn't see you."
"Evelyn." Fred nodded. Evelyn Henderson was a real gossip girl. She was extremely popular, and Fred was pretty sure she had dated nearly everyone on the football team. The girl stepped closer to Fred, the smell of her strawberry gum wafting to his nose. She stared deeply into his sparkling, blue eyes. Evelyn slowly twirled his ascot around her fingers, not breaking eye contact.
"So, I was having a party Friday night. I was wondering if you wanted to come." She bit her lip, and continued, "there'll be alcohol, no parents," Evelyn paused, "empty bedrooms." Internally, Fred was mortified, he did not like Evelyn that way, but didn't mind the attention. Fred lifted his eyebrows and smiled.
"Whadda you say Red. Care to join me?" He smirked. Red swiped his hair back, "We'll be there." he delivered. Evelyn dropped Fred's ascot and blew a big pink bubble.
"See you there." She whispered, strutting away.
"Wew, look at her ass!" Red muttered in Fred's ear. Fred showed visible discomfort, but didn't say anything. Red was a little insensitive at times, but he was still a good mate.

"Fred Jones is totally into me!" Evelyn squealed. Daphne rolled her eyes, "Yeah I bet."
Daphne Blake was best friends with Evelyn, and it seemed every day she was going on about Fred. Fred Jones this, Fred Jones that! Daphne had never met the guy but she already hated him. She came from the Blake family, which would never accept a boy like Fred who gets it in with every girl he sees. Well, at least that's how he seems. Daphne's parents are very rich, and she has 4 sisters, who are all thriving. She wears a purple dress with a green ascot and pink leggings underneath.
"So girl, you're coming to the party right? Red Herring will be there too." Evelyn cried excitedly. Daphne and Red had dated for a few months, but he was just not the one. He tried to rush Daphne into everything.
"I don't know Eve.. Maybe?" Daphne muttered as the two walked to role class.
"I know you want to! C'mon, it'll be fun." Evelyn persuaded. Daphne decided to give in, hesitantly nodding her head. Eve squealed and hugged her.
"There are a few guest bedrooms left for you and whoever, but I'm sure Freddie and I will have taken one." Evelyn bragged. Daphne sighed.
"I don't think I'll be doing anything crazy girl. It's final year, we should focus on our studies." She murmured.
"Oh please, you're starting to sound like the lesbian." Evelyn laughed, "Speaking of which.."
X.X.X
Velma Dinkley was a smart girl. She focused on studies, and had very few friends, specifically Marice Fleach. Velma skipped a grade since she was so excelled in all her subjects. Therefore, she was a few years younger then everyone, being 15, while the others were 16-17. Velma didn't fit in with the crowds, and the popular groups thought they should poke fun at her. She wore an orange sweater with a short red skirt, and high orange socks. Velma carried her books, heading over to role class when she heard a voice.
"Hello Velma." Evelyn snickered. Velma glanced up. She quickly bowed her head again when she saw who it was.
"Leave me alone Evelyn." Velma muttered, pacing forward. Evelyn suddenly stepped in front of her.
"Shut up lesbian. No one here is going to stand up for you anyways." She yelled pushing Velma back. Daphne was at her locker, grabbing books when she noticed Evelyn towering over Velma.
X.X.X
Shaggy could not find his locker anywhere. The halls felt like an endless loop. He had sworn he had passed the same water fountain 10 times. He had given up and was about to try and find admin when he heard yelling. Shaggy followed the sound. There he saw a black-haired girl laughing while a much smaller one was on the ground, collecting her books. Shaggy was most definitely a timid boy, but something about the situation made him feel like he had to do something. He walked over and bent down, helping the small girl pick up her books.
"Hey, like, totally not cool man." He cried, facing the black-haired girl. The bully was about to respond when a ginger girl in a purple dress walked towards them.
"Yeah, seriously Evelyn, that wasn't very nice." She argued, bending down to pick up the books. Evelyn scoffed.
"Don't act all goodie around this.. stoner.. just because you want to get in his pants Daphne!" The girl yelled. Shaggy was sure a lot of people heard that. How could she possibly know about his past? It must've been an assumption.. One of the airheads from earlier began to trudge over.
"What's going on here?" The blonde asked.
Daphne stood up, "Don't worry about it Fred." she exclaimed bitterly. Fred stuck his hands up defensively.
"Truce." He smirked playfully. Daphne couldn't help stop the small blush that crept up her neck. Evelyn grunted grumpily and grabbed Fred's arm.
"Let's go Freddie." She cried.
"Wait, Eve, I think you should invite these guys to the party for causing them all this trouble." Fred explained gesturing towards Shaggy and the small girl next to him.
"What! No way." Evelyn scoffed, but then she saw Fred's clumsy pouting face. "Ugh.. fine! It's on Friday night" She grumbled. Shaggy had never been to many parties, so he wouldn't mind checking this one out. He turned to his side to speak to the small girl, but she was gone. Even though Shaggy didn't really care about friends, he really had wanted to speak to her, even if it was just to ask where his first class was. He decided to ask the blonde boy since he practically just invited Shaggy to a party.
"Hey, like, Fred. I'm Shaggy, and I'm like, new. Could ya, you know, should me where this class is?" He murmured, pointing at his timetable. Fred shook Evelyn off him, and smiled gleefully.
"Yeah! What's up. Of course, I actually have that class too. And so does Daphne." Fred exclaimed. Daphne sighed, rolling her eyes. Together the three were walking together, as Fred and Daphne gave Shaggy a brief description of everyone in their class. They were nearly there when Shaggy saw the small girl waiting at the door of the class.
"Like, is she in our class?" Shaggy asked pointing towards her. Fred followed his finger and nodded.
"Oh yeah, almost forgot. That's Velma. She's like a fucking, genius. She skipped a grade which is why she's a bit younger then all of us." Fred snickered. Shaggy looked at her in awe. Who knew? Their teacher swung the door open and stepped outside the classroom.
"Alright, alright listen up. Everyone come in quickly, it's cold out here!" The teacher cried rubbing his hands together.
"That's Mr Banks. He's nice." Daphne whispers. The 3 walk into their role class. Shaggy sees Velma sitting alone, and daringly walks over to her. Daphne and Fred exchange confused glances, but follow him anyways.
X.X.X
Velma was looking out the window when she heard a soft voice next to her. It belonged to the boy from earlier, the one who helped her.
"Like hi Velma. I'm Shaggy, I'm new." He smiled. Velma felt her face heat up again.
"Hi Shaggy. Thanks for helping me today." She replied. "Oh," she quickly added, noticing Fred and Daphne, "you too. Thanks so much."
Fred displayed a bit toothy grin and Daphne replied with a simple "no problem."
"What do we have here!" Mr Banks exclaimed walking over to Shaggy, "Ah, you must be Shaggy, welcome to Coolsville High! My name is Mr Banks, but you can call me Mr B. Seems you've found a place to sit, so I'll leave you to it." Shaggy turned back to Velma as Fred and Daphne sat down next to them. They all exchanged glances, wondering how one kid could bring them all together.
