Chapter 3.

The bell loudly echoed throughout the halls.

While leaning on his locker, Shaggy quickly pulled out his phone, it was 3:00PM. Students were slamming their lockers and heading to the exit, but Shaggy stood idly, scanning the halls for a certain brown haired girl. He actually enjoyed class, for once in his life. And it was with Velma. She was really smart, and while that can intimidate most, Shaggy couldn't help but admire it. Suddenly, he spotted her, walking side by side with a girl, who he thinks name's Marcie.

"Velma! Hey, Velma! Could I, you know, talk to you for a second?" He called out to her. As she made her way to him, leaving a snickering Marcie behind, their eyes found each other. Shaggy felt a strange feeling in his stomach, but that's not to say it wasn't good. "Like uh, I was wondering if, maybe you had, Instagram or something I could text you on? Just about homework of course." He gulped, towering over the small girl in front of him. Velma smirked, and punched in her handle for him onto his phone. He couldn't help but feel a smile creep onto his face, surveying that she... was kinda pretty. 'Like gosh,' he thought, 'I can't think that, she's my first friend here.'

"Well, I'll see you tomorrow Shaggy. It was really nice meeting you." Velma chirped, slowly making her way to Marcie. Shaggy waved, happy that school might not be as bad as he had thought originally.

Velma fought the blush trying to paint her face. She grabbed Marcie and booked it out the door.

"He.. he asked for my Instagram? But it was for homework? Am I overthinking that? I don't know how this works, did he just want my number?" Velma spat out. Marcie giggled, squeezing her hand. "Velma! Slow down! But, maybe he does like you? Oooh girl!" She squealed.

The two laughed and chatted, until eventually, Marcie split ways, walking towards her home. Velma couldn't help but wonder why Shaggy could like her. People called her the lesbian, and she didn't really get along with anyone. Shaggy was funny, and she was sure he could do better. But despite her negative thoughts, Velma couldn't help but be excited to see him tomorrow. She calculated it would be during Gym class, first period, that is if they did not see each other before school. But, she could text him? Or is that overstepping a boundary. He did say texting was strictly for Instagram. She knew she was overthinking, really overthinking, but she couldn't help it.

"Dad, I'm home!" Fred boomed across the house. He dropped his bag, locking the door behind him. Fred lived alone with his Dad, and of course the abundance of security guards and maids that came with that. Having the mayor as your Dad has its perks, but most of the time, it was a pain. Fred was held to expectations he couldn't uphold, and only preyed his Dad had not heard about this fight with Red.

"Ah Freddie my boy. Evelyn's mother called me today." He heard a yell from the other room. Fred bowed his head, preparing for his imminent doom. He slowly stepped into the office, where his Dad sat perched behind a computer, with a large figure by his right shoulder. "Jake, you are dismissed for the day, thank you." He murmured to his guard. The man dressed in black exited the room, leaving Fred and his father face to face.

"I heard you got into some trouble today with Red and Evelyn," he murmured, standing from his chair, "You know his father and Evelyn's mother are very close with me, yes? Thus your relationship with the two is extremely important to me. How can I be an unbiased and proper mayor if my son is beating the councillors kids AT SCHOOL?" He slammed the desk. Fred flinched, standing straight and tall. "I will not stand for it, you hear me boy? I need you to act like the man you are. Apologise to them, or there will be consequences."

Fred looked up, "Yes Father," he sighed. He slumped out of the room, fighting back the tears. This wasn't fair. How would Daphne react if Fred was all buddy buddy with Evelyn and Red again? She had just started liking him and he was gonna throw it away. He whipped out his phone, opening Instagram. Reluctantly, he began to type to Daphne.

'Hi, it's Fred if you didn't know. My Dad is making me apologise to Red and Evelyn. I want you to know I don't mean it and I don't want to'. Fred tutted, deleting the message. It was bad. He should talk to her in person. That would prove to her that he was being genuine.

So Fred jumped into his car, and began reversing out. He knew where Daphnes house was as her Mum and Dad were famous fashion designers, throwing parties very frequently. As the son of the mayor, he was often dragged along. Fred knew this would be a good idea, Daphne seemed like the type to appreciate this type of thing... Probably.

Daphne lay in her bed, dressed in only a towel, yawning as the TV played. She had just got out of the shower, and was relaxing before she felt like getting dressed. Her sister, Dawn, suddenly barged the door open.

"Your friend is here to see you" She giggled, raising her eyebrows. Daphne scoffed, it was probably Evelyn. She had a thick head and likely didn't realise their friendship was over. "Just send her in." She murmured. Dawn snickered and walked away. Daphne heard faint talking, sounding like Dawn was giving directions to her room. That's odd since Evelyn had been to the Blake Manor countless of times, and wouldn't need directions. Abruptly, Daphne caught vision of light blonde hair, as Fred entered her room, shutting the door behind him.

"Oh my gosh, Fred! What are you doing here!" She yelled, grasping her towel tightly to her body. Her face went red immediately out of sheer embarrassment, as Fred Jones dorkily stood there while she was only dressed in a towel.

Fred's mind spun, he couldn't speak English, murmuring incoherent mumbles. He stared at the girl in front of him, admiring her silky skin and defined figure. Fred quickly adjusted his jeans, attempting to ignore his prodding dick.

"I.. uh.. sorry I.. came to talk to you!" He spat out, feeling his heart rate rise. "Oh m- cover your eyes Fred! Just.. wait here! Let me get changed!" She squealed. Fred squeezed his eyes shut, listening as Daphne's towel dropped to the floor. This was not helping, as he felt his jeans become unbearably tighter around his crotch. Fred knew Daphne was pretty, but gosh she was hot. He didn't want to be a perv though. She was really sweet, and not a lot of girls that talked to Fred were like that. They all just wanted to be with him, and never truly cared about him as a person. Daphne was different.

"Okay, open your eyes" She announced, taking a seat on her bed. Fred clumsily joined her, purposefully attempting to hid his somewhat obvious bulge from her. "Well.. Okay so. I thought it would be best to talk to you in person. Sorry for intruding, I- I didn't mean to. My, uh. My Dad said I have to apologise to Red and Evelyn. He said it's not a good look for the Mayor's son to go around punching the councillor's kid. I'm really sorry Daphne. They don't deserve and apology. But my Da-". Daphne moved closer to Fred, placing a hand on his shoulder, "It's okay Fred. I get it. You don't need to explain yourself to me. Parents can be awful sometimes. I'm just glad you stood up for me and others in the first place. And at least I know your apology won't be genuine." She half giggled. Fred looked into her eyes, smiling. Daphne surveyed his bright blue eyes, suddenly noticing how close she was to him. She could feel his breath against her face, scanning him slowly. She didn't want to admit it, but Fred was handsome. His blonde hair was fluffy and soft while his broad shoulders complimented his attractive body.

"I was thinking we could still go to that party tomorrow night. You and me, like... like a power move!" He laughed, unnoticeably creeping closer to her. "I'd like that Fred, I'd like it a lot." She murmured, biting her lip. Daphne didn't know how she hated Fred just a few days ago. She never had given him a chance, and he was actually quite charming. The two began to edge closer and closer, until they were merely inches away. She swore she saw his eyes flicker to her lips. And she couldn't help but want that so bad. She slowly parted her lips, closing her eyes when Dawn burst into the room. The two jumped away from each other, faces bright red.

"Woah.. okay... Sorry to interrupt but, your Dad is looking for you Jones boy." Dawn announced, turning to leave. Fred and Daphne shared a glance, quickly standing up from the bed. Daphne couldn't help but feel incredibly shocked. She snapped back into reality and realised she was moments away from kissing darling boy Fred! What was she thinking?

"AH, bye Freddie, I'll see you tomorrow morning I guess! Or maybe not, maybe I'll see you later throughout the day, I don't know but I'll definitely be seeing you! Okay bye now, bye thanks for coming, get home safe!" She swiftly spoke, ushering him out the door.

Fred slumped into his car, pausing for a moment. He nearly kissed Daphne, but he wasn't sure if that's what she wanted. She kinda forced him out the door before they had the chance to talk about what happened. He sighed, putting his keys into the car.

"Like, hey buddy! Scoob! I have to go to school now!" Shaggy exclaimed, as Scooby Doo, his pet dog, whined. "I'll only be home late, I got invited to a party! How, like, cool."

He ruffled Scooby's head, and grabbed him a quick treat before he made his way to the bus stop. Shaggy couldn't help but feel excited to see Velma today. He was a bit sad he didn't get a text from her, but that was okay. As he was walking, he suddenly realised his bus had driven past him. It was early, or he was late, in reality, it didn't matter.

"Wait! No!" Shaggy yelled, "Ah fuck off!". He pulled out his phone, it was 7:40, by the time he walks to school, he would've missed 15 minutes of class. Clenching his fist, he began walking but couldn't help but wallow in his anger. He wasn't able to shake the unbearable feeling he had. All he had to do was reach into his bag, and there his remaining stash would be. His friends supplied him with just enough weed to last a week or so for his time in Coolsville. He vowed he wouldn't use it, but he couldn't resist. Shaggy knelt down, and swiftly rolled a joint. He reached for his lighter, sucking in a deep inhale. His body relaxed, and he stayed loosely behind the trees to avoid passing cars from seeing him.

Velma would probably be wondering where he was.
