The burn of the muscles in his legs and the fire in his lungs were the only things he could feel apart from the pounding of stone against his bare feet. The slap of skin against stone and the harsh sounds of panting echoed in his ears. The taste of copper on his tongue as well as the moisture in the air was all he could taste. While the smell of rotting meat overpowered his nose. His vision fading in and out of consciousness was tunnelled only in the direction he was heading paying no heed to what was going on around him. While he ran, he passed a mirror and caught a glimpse of his dishevelled appearance: neck-level yellow hair that was dishevelled, tangled and faded. Blood that was both wet and dry covering his face, the blackish tint forming over his right eye due to swelling and the multiple cuts over his face. His clothes even though they were the correct size were now hanging off of him due to being torn to shreds by both weapons and quirks, his body covered in both, stab wounds and Lichtenberg wounds as well as burns. The pieces of skin that peeled off from his body as he attempted to push his body past its limits.

He had to run it was not safe, he knew running would make it worse, but he couldn't handle it the pain and torture of his handlers were too much. No child should experience this because what was he apart from a 5-year-old boy.

fear fear, death, they won't hesitate to kill reverberated through his brain as he kept running through the passageways in the underground corridors. Before turning a corridor and slamming into something knocking him down. He looked up in fear and all he could see was a hand outstretched to grab him by his head and so he screamed.

Kaminari bolted upright panting in fear, vacant eyes unseeing still stuck in the nightmare of memories as sweat trickled down his forehead and matted his smooth clean hair to his neck. After a few minutes his breathing calmed enough for him to be able to recognise where he was and allowed him to calm down. As his breathing regulated, he looked to the side at the clock that read 3:30.

"It's not even 5 yet." he sighed as he threw off his blankets and proceeded to leave his room and travelled down the hallway to the kitchen. As he passed the attached living room he paused and went to the door attached at the very end where a pair of shoes resided where one was slightly askew. He stared at this shoe for almost 10 seconds before straightening it and placing it back in front of the door and headed back to the kitchen. He proceeded to grab a glass of water and soothe his parched throat and look towards the windows. As he stared at his reflection in the darkened windows with a faint outline of stone visible on the other side he sighed and set his glass down. Not noticing the hooded figure advancing towards him from the back.

As Kaminari started washing his glass the figure lifted their arm causing a glint from the small light of the static TV to reflect off of the knife, they had catching Kaminari's attention. At this his eyes widened, and he vaulted over the counter letting the knife imbed itself into the granite countertop. As he stood up, he observed the opponent before him. They were approximately 4"5 and had a slightly visible toned build that could be seen under the loose clothes they were wearing, yet the hood obscured their face hiding its features yet revealing slightly blonde curls to peak out.

Kaminari straightened up and stared his assailant where their eyes would be. He may not be able to see his assailant but he sure as hell knew what they wanted. His breathing evened out as a large layer of killing intent washed over him, yet he continued to face his opponent with no hesitation on his face. He knew his assailant wanted him dead and he knew that it was for a good reason and most likely HIS fault. However, he was given an order and he had to see it through.

Even though he had just woken up and was still suffering the effects of a nightmare, Kaminari was prepared to fight, his elevated hearing picked up on the quiet snarl from his assailant yet could also hear the faint swishing of the wind outside as well as the clanging of machinery nearby and the various vehicles traveling. The hum of his quirk just below the surface of his skin was just begging to be let out yet he kept a tight grasp on it. His eyes darted to his assailant as they slowly raised the arm not holding the knife and thrust it out towards him.

Immediately Kaminari released the grasp he had on his quirk and channelled the speed and power of the electricity to his legs to dash away from his opponent and just in time too as right where he stood were two senbons embedded 4 inches into the wall where he stood.

He may not always feel fear, but he recognised the danger of those 'flimsy' needles as they pierced through solid concrete.

At this Kaminari decided not to hold back as much and used his quirk to enhance his body, most importantly his eyes. The electricity began to dance across his skin causing him to wince when they came into contact with his scars before he felt a searing pain below his left ribs.

He immediately redirected his quirk to avoid that section of his body cursing himself for forgetting about an injury like that. The quirk had pulled against the gauze and tape holding his skin together and opened up a hole approximately an inch wide and half an inch deep.

His opponent obviously noticing his lack of awareness and capitalised on it dashing forward with the knife in her front hand and firing off senbons with their left. Kaminari seeing the senbons coming at him as if in slow motion was easily able to dodge them and tried to get close to the opponent who swung their right arm out in a wide arch attempting to cut his face. He easily dodged it and jumped behind them dropping to the ground and swinging their leg out to knock their feet out from under them.

At this the assailant jumped over the feet and landed deftly on their feet without wobbling and rushed Kaminari who was still prone on the ground.

"Tch" Kaminari hissed out as he jumped back to his feet expertly dodging the attack aimed for his face before attempting to grab their arm. The assailant dodged back and fired off more senbons with their left hand at Kaminari causing him to dodge to one side as they followed swinging the knife at the same time to trap him.

At this Kaminari's eyes widened realising he would either be impaled by senbons if he tries to move to one side or will be stabbed by a knife if he moves to the other. At this he concentrated his quirk to his right arm and deftly caught his assailant's knife hand and held them close. At such a range his assailant couldn't swing the knife due to the closeness and the grasp he had on their hand, and they were unable to get leverage to escape.

His assailant then let out a small huff and relaxed their grip on their knife slightly. Kaminari thinking his enemy was giving up let his awareness falter for a moment before he felt a searing white-hot pain through his right knee.

He looked down seeing a senbon embedded into his kneecap with blood beginning to pool from it. As he kept hold of his assailant's right arm, he grasped the senbon with his left and tried to pull it out before letting out a strangled yelp as he felt the senbon get stuck between the tendons and bones of the knee and slightly pushed the bones. He immediately left the senbon realising that it could severely damage his knee if pulled out wrong, before noticing his opponent letting go of their knife and swinging their wrist to his face.

He immediately tilted his face to the side as senbons whizzed past his face before the knife which had previously been drooped was snatched up by his assailant's left arm and swung at his face while he was off balance. Kaminari dodged back a wide spray of blood dripping to the floor as he stared at his opponent keeping his right eye closed to prevent any blood from entering it from the large diagonal gash on his face and just over his eye.

He immediately charged his quirk in his hand and let out a small amount of electricity in front of him to condense into a square shaped shield which he used to block the senbons coming at him before tossing the shield to his assailant. They easily dodged the shield and dashed at Kaminari their knife at an angle in front of them prepared to either stab him or slice at his throat, at this Kaminari condensed his electricity into a knife of his own and pushed off with his left leg and swung his blade at his assailant causing both blades to connect and shove against each other before sliding past as each of their momentums caused them to be right behind each other at this they both turned swinging their knives at each other's unprotected necks at the same time.

Before the knives could connect to eithers flesh a sharp ringing of steel against steel rang out and they both looked on in shock and a slight amount of fear from the assailant's body language and resignation on Kaminari's face at the black chains wrapping against both of them and immobilising them and their weapons as well as protecting each other's necks.

The assailant only had enough time to utter one word before the chains tightened hitting them against each other and they both lost consciousness. "Shit."

Norowareta Akumu was a simple woman, she had lived many years felt happiness, sadness, grief and betrayal yet she still held on to her belief that the world could become kinder. She used her skills whenever possible to help others whether healing small injuries while out on the streets or reuniting lost children with their parents, this always brought a small smile to her weary face especially due to the kids. However, after a number of years she felt distanced from society preferring to leave her home less and less due to the actions of the public, the stares and hushed whispers behind her back only grew day by day and didn't help her at all. She cursed the hero commission in her head for allowing society to turn into the shithole it became.

She took a deep breath to calm the thrumming through her veins and to prevent her quirk from exploding out of her to raze whatever is near her. As she calmed her quirk and mind, she shook her head to clear her thoughts and to keep a tighter grasp on her meta-abilities, as it wouldn't do well to let her Meta out in a contained location such as this with all of her research and experiments which could be destroyed.

She took a seat on the stool and wiped the sweat off of her brow before reclasping her hairband and looking through the microscope that was on her desk. As she continued to look through the microscope and see what happens to the specimen as she adds different stimulants, she wrote down her findings on a loose paper in the lab. After a couple of hours of this she stood up and gathered her papers and stapled them together before throwing it in a filing cabinet marked with '6 asterixis illness notes'. She then began making her way to the door adjacent her cabinet and proceeded to the bedroom on the inside.

As she entered the room, she glanced at the mirror adjacent to the door and saw her reflection. Her eyes were underlined with dark eyebags which showed how little sleep she had been getting. Her long midnight hair was matted and dry due to the days of neglect and her chocolate-coloured skin was slightly pale due to the lack of sunlight she had been getting recently. As she saw her reflection, she straightened up revealing her true height of 5"9. The small amounts of baby fat that was on her was offset by the muscles that were obtained by combat and hauling multiple copies of technology and medical supplies.

The pungent medicinal odour wafting from the lab should have been unbearable. Perhaps, to anyone else, it is unbearable. Nauseating, even. But Akumu paid no mind. Be it from constant exhaustion or desensitisation, not a fibre of her being felt the need to care.

Like the rest of the laboratory, the room was coated in sanitised white paint and tiled flooring. The few accommodations the room possessed were less than inviting.

A bed sat in the corner of the room, against two walls. With a glance at the metallic frame and flimsy mattress, anyone could infer that it was a spare medical bed. Beside it was a steel table, matching the ones around Akumu's lab. Various documents and smaller equipment lay strewn across.

With a heavy sigh, Akumu shrugged off her lab coat and shoved it haphazardly into a small wardrobe beside the bedroom door. It could barely be considered a closet, almost akin to a locker. She dragged herself towards the window over her desk.

The soothing vista of a floral field beneath faded daylight stared back at her. Akumu rolled her eyes. She flicked her hand against the supposed window, and the view shifted. The brilliant hues melded into a homogenous blend. Soon enough, a more monochrome view was carved into the window. The swaying of gentle waves greeted Akumu. This time, the window beheld an ocean amidst a dark storm. Although sombre, the seascape held a calming aura.

As Akumu sat on her bed she placed her head in her hands and let out a bone-weary sigh, before flopping backwards onto the pillows. "Still no progress after all this time" she sighed out before putting her arm to the side and caused the air to displace itself, "Even asking those bastards for help did nothing." As she finished saying this her hand went into the displaced air and she pulled out a folder and proceeded to read through it.

The folder was filled with a lot of medical jargon with a large majority leading to lung and heart diseases as well as multiple notes on the brain and nervous system. She began to flip through all the notes before landing on a page with 4 pieces of paper stapled to it. Akumu let out a sigh and threw the file back into the subspace pocket dimension she removed it from not bothering to look at the previous cases of this disease as it has been futile to look through every other time as there was nothing new to obtain from it.

Akumu stared at the ceiling wondering how the world would be if the hero commission never became a thing as she pondered over the deaths of many good people who were victims of the commission's corruption. She sighs as she remembers one of her old friends a hero that tried to investigate the hero commission after some records didn't match up. He was a brilliant man he was, he took to the underground route due to not having a flashy quirk, but he was so useful when it came to tracking, he had the ability to see lines that would connect to people. They would hover in the air depending on how long a person was there for and once he has memorised a line, he can use it to track that person wherever they are as long as he finds another line anywhere else. It's probably how he found her that day.

Akumu sighed and shook her head not wanting to go down that rabbit hole again, before realising that she had been doing that a lot recently. But who could blame her she ran multiple charities and had an entire underground hospital to run also she was in charge of discovering antidotes for new poisons or cures for new diseases that appear and well there is a reason she gets so exhausted.

Akumu knew that burying herself in her work was unhealthy her friends have told her that before and tried to get her to take a vacation, however there is just so much work to do so much research, medical work, teaching and so many other jobs she had to deal with that if she left then the entire organisation would probably be destroyed in minutes. Though she was thankful for them as no matter how much she ignored their desires for her to take a vacation they did come and help her with all of her jobs, even though most of them suck the company was nice and they also made sure that when she gets into her hyper focused states that she can take a break to eat, otherwise she could end up working for days on end until she collapses.

Akumu proceeded to let out a yawn and felt herself sinking further into her bed, the pillows were a perfect combination of both firmness and fluffiness as well as being nice and cool. 'Maybe I can sleep for a couple of hours' she though as she felt herself drift off into sleep.

Just moments before Akumu went into REM sleep loud beeping noise started playing in her room snapping her out of sleep. She immediately jumped out of bed and displaced the air around her and grabbed a long pole that started forming from a pocket dimension. AS she pulled out the pole it turned out to be a scythe with a rather long obsidian black metal handle (Snath) with a very wicked and long curved scythe blade at the top. However, the most terrifying thing of it all was the long black chain trailing from the bottom of the handle all the way to large metal spike that was repeatedly opening and closing outwardly on its own.

Akumu looked at the monitor that was displaying a disturbance located in one of the isolated residential ward rooms. At this she huffed before opening a portal and portaling to the location.

Akumu was shocked, never in her life would she expect this scene to play out in front of her.

'No don't lie to yourself, you knew someone was going to do something stupid eventually and that is why you put all these failsafe's in place.' Akumu shook her head at noticing Kaminari who was under her protection being attacked by someone who is also under her protection and that they are going for fatal wounds. At this Akumu stepped in before the battle could get even more serious and sent her scythe chains to warp around both of them while also deflecting any attack aimed for the other. She then slammed them together with her scythe before letting some of her meta-ability out which caused their brains to temporarily shut down so they could be taken to the others, so that they can be given a more suitable punishment. Mostly because she is too tired to do it on her own and people either complain that she is too lenient or too harsh. They can deal with it themselves if they want to complain it's not her problem anymore.

However, as she looked at the room and noticed the damaged materials there was one thing that resonated through her head "I am not fuckin' doing the paperwork for this."

SO Everyone sorry for the delay of these chapters I think I will just publish the whole reason this was late on the last chapter so you don't have to read through it multiple times.
