Professor Layton and the Living Dead

Prologue: the mysterious letter

"Dear Professor Layton,

I'm sorry to make this request of you, but I need help. Recently I have started to see the world clearly again. It's like I have woken up from a trance or a come or something of the sort. However, I have no recollection of who I am, or used to be. I can't even remember my name or birthday. Even stranger, people treat me, like I'm some kind of monster. They are scared of me or straight up refuse to talk to me. I have no idea why, it confuses me greatly, but I'm too afraid to ask about it.

I came across you and your amazing talent to solve any mystery, no matter how impossible it seemed to solve. I'm asking you, with everything I have and hold dear, to help me solve my mystery. The mystery of the monster woman, or the ghost woman, whatever you prefer to call my case. I beg you to help me. I don't know what else I should do, you are my only hope.

I know you usually take requests of greater mystery, but I wish for you to help me. I simply wish to find where I come from. I will pay you handsomely, even though I understand that you may not accept it.

I hope you receive this letter well. I wish to meet you at the Kensington Museum, as I am sure that there we can talk uninterrupted.

S.A."

"Professor, who could that woman be?", a young woman asked the top hatted man, after he had read the letter. He took a sip from his tea before putting down the cup and handing the letter to the young woman.

"I have a suspicion on who it might be, Flora. But I need to see the woman to be sure.", Layton explained as Flora read the letter.

"Will you share your suspicion with me, Professor?", Flora wondered.

"Have you ever heard of the Sycamore incident?", Layton asked. Flora shook her head. It wasn't surprising given that she had spend her whole life isolated from the world in St. Mystere.

"I will tell you one day, Flora my dear.", he smiled making Flora nod in agreement. Sadly there wasn't any date or time when they should meet the woman in Kensington, so he figured that she would be waiting there every day. Layton decided to prepare some things before actually meeting the woman.

A few days later, he entered the museum with Flora. In front of an Azran artefact stood a woman with bright red hair, it reminded Layton of his friend Randall. She seemed to be entranced by the artefact?

"Pretty, isn't it? It's a crystal that Professor Sycamore found that could emit light.", Layton said as he approached the woman. She didn't seem to mind his presence.

"I'm glad you came, Professor Layton.", the woman turned around and Layton could now confirm his suspicion. Before him with her red hair and bright blue eyes stood a dead woman.

"A gentleman should always help a Lady in need, Miss Alister.", Layton stated with a smile and adjusted his hat, making Flora a bit confused. Was she the woman that had send the letter? And why was she so fascinated by an artefact donated by Professor Sycamore, who hasn't been seen or heard from in years? Sensing her confusion, Layton assured Flora that everything will be revealed in due time.
