B&B OF LOVE AND FUN-31
Hello everyone. It's been a long time since we have visited our favorite B&B. Two weeks from the last update. About time to find out what's new here. Thank you for still reading this story, it's very close to my heart and I'm glad, that someone else is enjoying it as much as I do.
Elsie thought, that she was the first one to wake up this morning. Somehow yesterday's news about the award, that they have received couldn't let her sleep much longer... Charles was still snoring loudly, when Elsie decided to get up and go to the kitchen, to make herself a cup of coffee.
She didn't sleep much that night. They were talking about the award a long time with Charles last night and then he fall asleep instantly, as always and Elsie was tossing and turning for a long time.
Today she has woken up real early and wanted to enjoy a moment of silence, before the usual daily hustle and bustle will start.
However, as she went towards the kitchen, she realized, that someone else was already there..The doors were half opened and she could see through it, that it was Beryl and Bill, who were apparently sharing very early morning kisses...
Bill was holding her tightly in his arms and Beryl looked like she was in heaven...Elsie watched them without a real intention of peeping, but only because she found this scene quite touching...
"That's it my sweet pumpkin...I really have to go now...I want to make sure, that Andy will do what's needed with the pigs..."
"I hope that you will not be leaving this early every morning..."
"No...Just when it's necessary...Have a good day my love..."
"Will you be back at lunch time?"
"Of course...I wouldn't want to miss any of my wife's delicious lunch..."
They kissed again and Elsie smiled gently...It was touching to see Beryl and Bill as newlyweds...It brought back so many happy memories of her and Charles...She waited till Bill left the house with a kitchen back door and after waiting one more moment, she decided to join her friend in the kitchen...
"Good morning Beryl..."
"Elsie...Good morning...You got up pretty early today..."
"I did...Somehow ever since we found out about this award, I simply can't stop my excitement..."
"I know what you mean...Me and Bill were celebrating this news for half night.."
"Was that Bill that left through the kitchen door a moment ago?"
"Yes...They planned something important with the pigs today and he wanted to be sure, that Andy will do everything as it should be..."
"He really loves this farm..."
"He does...He is living here now, with us, but I suspect, that he will be a regular guest at the farm..."
"I think so too...You don't mind that Beryl?"
"No...Not in the least, as long as he will come back to me every night..."
Elsie grinned hearing this remark...
"Speaking of night...How did you both sleep that night?"
"We really didn't sleep that..I mean fine..."-Beryl suddenly realized, that she wanted to say something inappropriate...Her cheeks went blush...
"That's what I thought..."
"Elsie, you little devil...You are starting again, huh?"
"I told you Beryl...Every chance I get, I'm going to tease you..."
"Oh, am I suppose to believe, that you and Charles were not celebrating the news yesterday?"
"Not really..Just talking late...You see Beryl, we are no longer newlyweds like you are, so the dynamics is a little bit different between us..."
"Right...Like I haven't seen the dynamics between you long time after you were married..."
"All right, we both shared our morning portion of teasing...How about a cup of coffee?"
"I'm all for that Elsie...Speaking about that award...I know that we established, that we are going to this together, but you think that someone will have to get to the stage and receive an award and maybe say a few words?"
"I'm not sure...I don't know exactly how these things work...Why? Would you be willing to do it?"
"No way ! I would probably have a heart attack...In fact, I was going to ask you if you could do it?"
"I don't think so...I'm not a type of a person who likes to be in the spotlight..."
"So that leaves Charles then..."
"Yes...And I think that it's the best decision...After all, my Charles is the only one who is experienced with being on stage..."
"Ah yes...The famous cheerful Charlie...I can still remember, how we had fun after learning that about him..."
"Beryl, do not mention this to Charles...He is very sensitive about this topic..."
"Cross my heart...So it's decided...Charles will pick up the award..."
"Great...If you don't mind, I will tell him that now..."
"Be my guest..."
A little while later, in Carson's bedroom...
"Me Elsie? Why on earth was I selected to do this?"
"Because Charlie, you are the only one with experience..."
"What kind of experience do you mean Elsie?"
"A stage kind...You were in the stage remember? You know how it is to perform in front of the audience...Neither me, or Beryl would be able to survive that..."
"Well...Don't remind me...But...I don't know if this is right...Sometimes I feel like I'm contributing the least to the B&B and now all the glory will be on me?"
"Charles...You are working very hard, as we all do...But we all can't pick up the award...We would make a crowd on stage..."
"I guess you are right...Ok then...I will pick up the award, but you have to be near me all the time..."
"Am I not always?"
"You are...My sweet, dearest wife...I want a big kiss, for the good start of the day..."
Charles and Elsie kissed tenderly...It lasted much longer than they expected, but neither of them mind...
"Is this a sufficiently good start of the day for you Mr Carson?"
"I'm not sure Mrs Carson...Let me check again..."
Another long and tender kiss, made the start of the day even more special...
"Now even I'm sure that it was enough...Oh by the way, we are not the only couple who started their day from tender kisses..."
"Beryl and Bill?"
"Yes, in the kitchen before Bill left to the farm...I almost managed to find out from Beryl, that they were not sleeping much this night..."
"Ah, the perks of being newlyweds...How well I remember that..."
"That wasn't that long ago Charlie and we still sometimes act like ones..."
"Not enough if you ask me..."
"All right my newlywed...Time to get to work..."
Next week...The award ceremony
The whole evening appeared to be a big disaster and it was just a moment between the award was supposed to be received...Beryl was sick of stress and she had stomach problems. She spent most of the evening in the toilet and Katie was guarding her.
Charles was pale as a ghost and he was fighting with an overwhelming urge, to run away from there as soon as possible and Elsie was the only calm person, trying to navigate between those two bundle of nerves..
She was doing the best she could, but there were moments, when she just wanted to get away from this place too...
Finally, with some kind of miraculous turn of events, they were all safely seated in the audience, but with Beryl and Charles still being pale and stressed and when the man who was conducting this event, called out Charles's name, asking him to go to the stage, to pick up the award, Charles felt a huge lump in his throat...
Elsie squeezed his hand reassuringly and he finally decided to go there, still shaking inside...He managed to get to the stage and he listened to the congratulations of the man who was handing it to him.
"Congratulations Mr Carson...You have achieved quite a success with this B&B. It has excellent reviews and you are quite a new company...Some others B&B working much longer on the market, were not able to achieve such a success...So a big congratulations to you. Would you like to say few words?"
Charles's first reaction was to say no, just to get out off the stage as quickly as possible, but even being as stressed as he was, he realized, that there needed to be a correction, in the statement made by the man who gave him the award...
"Thank you very much. Yes, I would like to say few words...You mentioned about my success, but in reality it's a mutual, daily effort of me, my wife Elsie Carson and my dear friend Beryl Patmore and also Katie Baker-they are all with me here tonight...Each of us, is giving everything we can, to make our B&B guest friendly, so they could enjoy their holiday in the nicest, possible atmosphere..."
"In that case, we should say bravo and clap loudly for the mutual success of your team...!"
And with that, the whole audience started to clap very loudly and very long and Charles, Elsie, Beryl and Katie all had the same thought- that this is the moment worth living for...
That's all for this chapter...They luckily made it to the awards ceremony and looks like it was a huge success...I just love to write such happy moments and this is the core of this story...Hope you liked it a bit. Thanks for reading and have a very good upcoming week.
