B&B OF LOVE AND FUN-32
Hello all. I just realized, that it's been almost a month since I updated this story. Well, December was challlenging, so I have an excuse. One way or another, I will gladly go back to our favorite B&B, I hope that this is good news for you too. Last time we met our group, they were collecting an award for their B&B and all was sweet and nice. This time we will face some complications, connected with co-existing together under one roof. Hope you will like it ;-)
Few weeks later...
Few weeks have passed and they were all still very happy about the award that they received. Directly after the award ceremony, they were quite busy when few reporters visited them, wanting to know more about the special place that they've created.
There were interviews, photos and articles in newspapers. Beryl had bad memories regarding cooperation with the press, as it didn't help to save the situation in her previous B&B, so she gently refused to take part in it and Bill followed her steps, explaining, that he didn't have much contribution in the success.
That left Charles and Elsie in the battle field, as Katie was naturally very shy and this was stressful situation for her. Elsie also didn't like to be in the spotlight, but she noticed, that it's something that Charles was very fond of, so as a good wife, she let him fully enjoy this unexpected success.
After a while it all went quiet, as all the news are and life returned to normal. The visible effects were the bigger number of guests, encouraged by the positive commercial in the press articles and much, much work for all of them...
Other than that, the only memento from this moment, was the award itself, proudly put on the mantlepiece, in the main living room by Charles. He was thinking about the proper setting for the award for a longer time, but Elsie had to admit, that he succeeded, as there was no way, that somebody could miss it.
Elsie hid her smile few times, when she found Charles dusting it with great care, when he thought that nobody was watching. It almost made her want to kiss that silly old booby of hers, but she knew, that he wouldn't be pleased that someone noticed it.
Elsie understood Charles's thoughts and feelings as well as she understood her own, so while for her it was a nice surprise, she was aware, that for Charles it meant like a crowning moment of his professional career. He was hard working and very proud man and now, in his late middle age years, he finally felt, that he got the recognition he deserved.
The award gave them all joy, but with the major number of guests coming in and with lots of work to do, the tension began to grow in their own little circle.
Katie was helpful, hard working and keeping herself in the shadow as usual, so she was not part of it, Elsie made sure, that Katie would have some private time, just for herself and that she could have some fun.
As for her and Beryl, they got along as good as usual, sharing equal part of duties in the B&B. In the evenings, when their husbands have already went to sleep, they often shared and evening Sherry together, talking about the events of the day and joking, trying to get rid of tiredness and tension.
Unfortunately, for both of them, the situation became worst in the recent weeks and the main reasons were their husbands.
After Beryl and Bill came back from honeymoon, they had to learn to live together under one roof and if for Elsie and Beryl that wasn't a problem, it certainly was for Bill and Charles.
Charles was fully used to the fact, that till now, he was the man of the house, the only man of the house and being as stubborn and as conservative as he was, he still believed, that the man should have a leading role.
Elsie often tried to get this idea out of his head, but he was determined to keep his beliefs.
Now, when Bill was living here too, Charles expected, that he will naturally fit into the situation, which already existed in the B&B and that he will acknowledge, that Charles was the leader, or at least he thought he was.
But to his disappointment, it turned out, that Bill was not going to accept such order and he was quite stubborn himself, so the situation quickly started to get rather tense.
It was just some small things in the beginning, like Charles had a problem with the fact, that Bill was coming home every night from the farm in dirty clothes and boots. In his opinion, the B&B guests should not be forced to see such views. No to mention about rather unpleasant farmer smell, that was connected to it.
Bill didn't like the fact, that meals time were adjusted to Charles's needs. He would prefer to eat his breakfast earlier and go to the farm to start another day.
Charles had a major problem with the fact, that whenever they had a weekly debate, which was their constant habit, since they started the B&B, about current issues and problems, Bill dared to speak.
In Charles's opinion, he should not be allowed to do that, as he wasn't contributing anything to the B&B literally, he didn't put his work here, other than providing the dairy products.
Bill thought, that he had the same right as everyone else, as his wife was in the partnership with Charles and Elsie and Bill always believed, that after the wedding everything that Beryl owned, also belong to him and vice versa.
Elsie and Beryl tried to ignore those "rooster fights for domination", as they quietly called it during their evening talks, they tried to turn it into jokes, but unfortunately it didn't seem to work...
The situation was getting heavier and heavier...Behind the closed doors at night, both men were not talking about anything else with their wives, but all the sins, that the other one did today...
Elsie and Beryl were so tired in the evening, that the only thing they were dreaming about, was to put their heads in the pillow and sleep, to recover after another hard day, but it seemed impossible, as they were forced to listen to their nagging husbands...
Finally, they decided, that it needs to stop, otherwise there will be serious damages...
"I'm telling you Elsie...Yesterday I was so happy to go to sleep and before I even entered the room, Bill was already nagging about Charles's system of receiving food deliveries."
"Tell me about it...I had to listen to the exact same thing yesterday...I mean I was listenting to a point when I simply fell asleep and in the morning, Charles was angry at me and accused me of not being interested with his problems..."
"Why are they like that Elsie? I don't get that...I mean when we started to live under the same roof, we didn't have problems like that...We always liked and supported each other...Of course, there were worse moments, but never something like this...Why can't they do the same?"
"From two reasons Beryl. First, we were friends before, we already lived together under one roof, for years, of course on different terms than now, but still...We had our shares of fighting..Do you remember how we were fighting about the key to the cupboard?"
"Yes, but we were younger then and not so wise as we are now...Plus I was really annoying back then.. I can see that now, you were also more harsh than you are now...But them? Wait, you said two reasons, what's the other one?"
"The other one is more obvious Beryl...They are men and you know what men are like..They are taught from the youngest years, to fight for domination...They are being said, that they need to lead...Until Bill came along, Charles believed, that he was the man of the house, plus he was the only man in the house.."
"Yes and he naively believed, that he was in charge, whilst in fact..."
"Whilst in fact we were, but we just let him believed that he was...That's the key point here Beryl...We let Charles be the man, because we are women, but Bill will not let him, because he is a man too..."
"But what can we do Elsie? We can't let it happen further...This can ruin the atmosphere in the B&B and in time, this can also affect negatively at our friendship...We can't let that happen...Maybe me and Bill should move out to the farm..."
"That is out of the question Beryl! We all need you here and I want us all to live here, together..."
"But how are we going to solve this? Do you have any idea?"
Elsie frowned her forehead for a moment and she began to think...After a while, the triumph was clearly written all over her face...
"I got it Beryl! I know what we will do..."-Elsie bent down and whispered something to Beryl's ear, which made her cheeks reddened immediately...
"Elsie...Do you think that it will work?"
"Beryl...Think about it...I know that you are not married for a long time, but you must know it by now.. When you want something from Bill, did it ever not work in your case? Because in my case it never failed..."
"I guess you are right..."
"I know I am...So tonight Beryl, we will incorporate plan A..."
"And let's hope, that plan B will not be necessary"
"I'm more than sure, that plan A will work perfectly..."
All right my lovelies...That's all for today...I was planning to end this plot today, but later I figured, that plan A deserves another, separate chapter...I think we all can figure out how plan A will look like..But let me keep you in suspense till tomorrow, when I can hopefully update... Have a very nice weekend. Thanks for reading and reviewing. See you soon!
