How to Steal a Heart

The snowy ice on the Black Lake was glistening by the moonlight as the two Slytherins walked closer in matching robes, but she wore a pink, girly hat and he wore an expensive scarf. His arm were around her shoulders.

"If Snape knew we were out here, he'd kill us," said Pansy, raising an eyebrow at Draco. "We're Prefects after all!"

"That's what makes it so fun," he smirked.

"Do you think the Giant Squid goes somewhere else during the winter?" Pansy asked.

Draco laughed. "Are you stupid? It's a bloody lake, where is it going to go?"

She slapped his arm. "I just mean, how does it survive? When the lake freezes like this."

"I don't bloody know. It's probably made for this kind of temperature. It chose to live in Scotland after all."

"Why do you always have an answer to everything?"

"Because I'm clever, Pansy, it's one of the things you love about me."

"Pfft."

"You wanna go ice skating?"

"We don't have any skates." Pansy raised one eyebrow disdainfully.

"Our shoes will be slippery enough on the ice."

"You're an idiot, Malfoy."

Despite this, she got up to join him as he bravely stepped out onto the ice and motioned his head for her. She walked carefully, slowly, to make sure the ice was sturdy enough. He had no such worries, and took large confident strides.

"Ugh, you know the school's plumming runs into this lake," Draco said with a scrunched nose.

"Draco!" Pansy exclaimed, hitting him on the chest, "That's not very romantic!"

"Am I meant to be?" he asked teasingly.

"You know, I don't know how to ice skate," Pansy said.

"Neither do I to be fair," he scoffed. Wobbly, she took a couple steps towards him on the ice. He held out both of his hands which were covered in leather gloves. When she grabbed them, her hands in mittens, he pulled her along with him and they glided along the lake.

Pansy let out a high pitched scream. "Oh my goodness Draco stop!"

"Stop being such a baby," he teases.

"Draco, I'm scared," she moaned.

"Don't be silly," he said and turned to her. "Now, how's this for romance?"

Suddenly he was facing her, she was already holding onto him so as to not fall, but instantly the physical closeness was poignant. He moved in closer, with his signature smirk on his face, and she knew what he would do before he did it, so she sucked in a breath. He kissed her softly for a long time, and she forgot to be afraid of the ice and the lake. He grabbed her sides, and she wrapped her arms around his neck. Their noses were cold against each other.

When he pulled away, she swayed. He smirked again.

She shook her head and gave him her typical "you're an idiot"-look.

"So pleased with yourself aren't you?" she said.

"You're pleased with me too," he smirked. She quickly knelt down to grab some snow and formed it to a ball which she threw at him. He threw his hands up instinctively to shield himself, but just then the ice started cracking.

"Merlin's beard!" Pansy exclaimed, suddenly terrified, and they both hurried to land. She hit his arm again when they made it to shore. "I can't believe you made me risk my life!"

"Worth it though wasn't it?"

"Let's go drink hot chocolate and cuddle up by the fire," said Pansy excitedly.

"Don't ever let anyone hear you say something like that, Parkinson," he said haughtily, but he held out his hand for her to take.
