Hi all. Recently found cold case again and this idea popped into my mind. To some it may seem silly but I like it. I'm still working on my grease and expendables stories to. Please leave a review.

Scotty tried to walk slowly out of the PPD HQ but his eagerness to get out of work combined with his tiredness only made him walk faster and he practically ran out of the door to his car. After the team had been up all night solving John Smith's murders and bringing him back from West Virginia, they had all gone home for some sleep before coming back in the afternoon to finish the paperwork. Now that everything was wrapped up, Scotty was heading home for the weekend for some much needed time away from work. Luckily it hadn't snowed or been to cold for being March so he didn't need to wait for the car windshield to clear before he could drive away. The case the team had worked on over the last few days had taken it's toll on him but tomorrow was Saturday and he finally had the day off to spend with the one person who could always make him smile even on the worst of days.

Normally his drive home took ten minutes but he had to go to his parents first to pick up something special. As he pulled into the street and parked outside the house, he was hit by all the memories of growing up here but especially of Elisa. He thought about her everyday but this street would always hold the strongest memories. He locked the car, walked up the path to the house and let himself in.

"Hello." He called out hoping he didn't need to stay long. He loved his parents but it had been a long couple of days and he just wanted to get home now.

As soon as he finished calling out, the sound of little footsteps became louder and he braced himself for what was going to happen. Within a few seconds, a little girl around ten years old with olive green skin and black hair came running around the corner into the living room.

"Daddy!" The little girl beamed as she threw herself into Scotty's arms.

"Mi Amor." Scotty said as he matched her beaming smile as he picked her up and hugged her tightly to his chest. "Did you have fun with Abuelo and Abuela?"

"Si Papi." Gabriella said as she pushed herself out of her dads hug to look at him. "We made Paella, watched telenovelas and Abuelo helped me with all my homework."

"Sounds fun. Did you leave me any paella?" Scotty asked matching her smile.

"No we ate it all." Gabriella replied hoping he wasn't mad at her.

"That's ok." Scotty smiled back. "You can make me more at home."

Gabriella smiled back at him as she hugged him again. "Ok Daddy."

Scotty hugged her back letting her smile and hug wash away any negative emotion in his head.

"Hijo." A voice called out pulling him out of his thoughts.

"Hey pops." Scotty said as he placed Gabriella on the floor and gave his dad a hug.

"You look tired." His dad said as they looked at each other.

"Bad case." Scotty replied. "I'm fine."

His dad gave him a pat on his shoulder knowing he was ok and that Gabby was the best medicine he needed.

"Scotty." His mother greeted him as she walked into the kitchen and hugged him.

"Hey Ma." Scotty said as he hugged her. "Is all her homework really done?"

"Yeah she has no more to do." Rosa smiled at him as she finished hugging him.

"Good cause my head can't take anymore work." Scotty laughed before turning to Gabby. "Amor go grab your stuff."

Gabby didn't need to be told twice as she was eager to get home as well and spend time with just her and her Daddy.

"Thanks again for keeping her longer." Scotty sighed as Gabby disappeared upstairs. "Case ran over."

"Keeping her is not a problem." Rosa smiled at him. "Giving her back is the hardest part."

"I know what you mean. Not easy when I drop her off cause that sad look on her face just cuts threw my heart." Scotty replied knowing what his mom was saying.

"What you've done though Hijo." Ramiro said to him. "We couldn't be prouder."

"Thanks pops." Scotty smiled back again only partly believing it.

"I'm ready papi." Gabby called as she came back into the living room with her backpack.

"Running away so quickly." Ramiro said holding a hand over his heart. "That hurts Mi Carino."

"Love you Abuelo." Gabby smiled hugging him.

"That's better." Ramiro laughed.

"Just Abuelo?" Rosa asked holding her arms out.

"Love you to Abuela." Gabby said as she ran into Rosa's arms.

"Love you to Mi Amor." Rosa replied hugging her granddaughter.

Gabby finished hugging Rosa then walked back over to Scotty who took her backpack off her.

"Thanks again. I'll call you Sunday." Scotty said as he opened the front door.

Rosa and Ramiro waved goodbye to them as Gabby and Scotty headed out the door to go back to their apartment.

"Daddy it's cold." Gabby complained as she put her seatbelt on.

"I know sweetie." Scotty smiled back thinking the same thing. "It'll get warm in a minute."

"Ok." Gabby replied as Scotty starting driving to their home.

"What do you want to do tomorrow? We got the whole weekend just me and you." Scotty asked as he kept driving.

"Can we go to the park and maybe go to the movies?" Gabby smiled hoping he would say yes.

"Sounds good to me sweetie." Scotty smiled back happy to be in the park rather than playing dress up or dolls.

"Daddy." Gabby asked turning serious. "Can you hear that?"

Scotty's smile dropped every time she said those words. "Hear what sweetie?"

"That clicking noise?" Gabby replied hearing it again.

As he listened, relief washed over him, as he knew what she was hearing. "Yeah I hear it. Daddy just dropped a bottle on the floor."

As they stopped at a traffic light, he bent down and picked the bottle up from the floor and tossed it in the passenger seat. Once the light changed and they were driving again, he couldn't hear it anymore.

"Is it gone?" Scotty asked as he turned onto their street.

Gabby turned her head to the side concentrating as she listened. "Yeah Daddy, it's gone."

"Good." Scotty smiled but on the inside he felt like a deflated balloon as he pulled into their street where their apartment was. Both he and Gabby got out the car, grabbed their bags as Scotty locked the car and they headed into their apartment building.

"Mi Amor." Scotty said as he opened their apartment. "Get ready for bed but you can stay up an extra hour."

"Si Papi." Gabby smiled back as she went inside. "Thank you."

Scotty smiled at how well her Spanish was as she went straight to her room to do what he had asked her. Scotty headed to his room to do the same wanting to get out of his suit. He got changed into sweatpants and a t-shirt but the case and his father's words were still ringing in his ears. He put his gun in the safe before heading to join Gabby on the sofa who was waiting for him, cuddling one of her teddy bears.

"I'm ready for bed." Gabby beamed as he sat down beside her.

"Really?" Scotty asked. "Let me see those pearly white's?

Gabby turned and gave him the biggest toothy smile so he could see she wasn't lying.

"Whoa! Whoa!" Scotty laughed holding his hand up to shield his eyes. "Very white and minty fresh."

"Can we watch the rest of spy kids?" Gabby pleaded with him, as it was her current favourite film.

"In a minute Mi Amor. I want to talk to you first." Scotty said as he turned on the couch so they were face to face.

"Was I bad?" Gabby asked as she faced him with a petted lip.

"No no sweetie." Scotty reassured her as he placed his hand on her cheek. " You haven't done anything bad."

"Ok Papi." Gabby smiled back feeling better that she wasn't in trouble.

"Papi just wants to tell you something." Scotty smiled back before he turned serious again. "I know you stay with Abuela and Abuelo a lot when Daddy's working and I know I was suppose to pick you up last night but I had to work late. I hate being away from you for so long but its only so I can give you the toys you want, send you to a nice school and so we can have fun together. You're my whole world and I want you to know that Daddy is always thinking about you when he's away."

"I know Daddy. I miss you to when you're away." Gabby beamed back at him. She missed him when he was away but she was old enough now to understand why he was away so much but it didn't stop her missing him.

"Come here." Scotty motioned to her as he held his arms open to her.

Gabby didn't need to be asked twice as she went into Scotty's arms and let him hug her tightly, which she happily returned. "I love you Daddy."

Any stress from work was quickly vanished from Scotty's head with those four magic words.

"I love you to." Scotty smiled back giving her a kiss on the cheek as he pushed her away so she was facing him. "When Daddy's away, what do you say to any boy that comes near you?"

"My Daddy's a cop." Gabby smiled back at him.

"That's right and if he doesn't listen?" Scotty asked making sure she knew the answer.

"He can box and he's got a gun." Gabby beamed back knowing she was right.

"That's my girl." Scotty smiled back.

"Now can we watch the rest of the movie?" Gabby pleaded with him as she went back to her side of the couch.

"Sure we can. Go pop it in." Scotty replied knowing she wouldn't stay up for the next hour and he could turn it off when he put her to bed.

Gabby practically jumped off the couch as she stuck the video into the video player before hurrying back to the couch and cuddling up to Scotty as he hit play on the remote and the film started. Scotty wasn't wrong in his prediction. Within fifteen minutes of the film starting, he could feel her body going heavy against his and she was slowly falling sideways into his lap.

"Come on Mi Amor." Scotty said turning the film off and gently pushing Gabby back to a sitting position. "Time for bed."

"But I'm not sleepy." Gabby protested as she yawned and fought to keep her eyes open.

"Look at Papi and say that without yawning." Scotty smirked at her as he turned to look her. "Then you can stay up."

Gabby turned to look at him but she only lasted four seconds before she let out a yawn and rubbed her eyes. Scotty laughed as he picked her up and carried her through to her room and put her to bed.

"You want an extra blanket?" Scotty asked as he pulled the covers up around her.

"No I'm ok." Gabby smiled, as she got comfy in bed.

"Ok." Scotty smiled back at her. "Sweet dreams and I'll see you in the morning."

"Promise I get the whole weekend with you Daddy?" Gabby yawned again.

"I promise. Just me and you." Scotty replied back at her.

"Te quiero M'ija." Scotty said as he leaned down and kissed her forehead.

"Te quiero a papi." Gabby yawned back to him.

Scotty smiled as he got up from her bed and when he turned back to look at her once more, she was sound asleep. He switched off the bedroom light and quietly closed her door as he headed back to the living room. He went to the cabinet where the booze was kept and poured himself a southern comfort but as he sat down on the couch, his dad's words were still echoing in his ears.

"We couldn't be more prouder."

Scotty snorted as he took another drink of southern comfort. How could his parents say that? He had hardly done anything to be proud of. He didn't see himself as a father until he was at least 40 but it had happened when he was 23 then he became a single dad at 26. His parents loved Gabriella more than words and she was their first grandchild but the circumstances weren't the best.

When he went to play outside that summer night when he was fourteen he thought he might see a pretty girl but he never expected to meet the love of his life. Elisa and him were inseparable from that day on whether it was spending time at the park, doing homework together or visiting the arcade. There was something different about her compared to the normal girls but Scotty liked that about her. Having gone to catholic school they were both caught that sex was sacred and was only to be done when a man and woman were married but temptation got the better of them. They had been careful every time but one night they had gone out drinking and forgot to be careful which resulted in Gabriella being conceived. Their families weren't thrilled under the circumstances that Gabby was being born into however everyone celebrated the news and looked forward to her arrival. Nine months later, Gabriella Maria Rosa Valens was born.

Elisa had had a good pregnancy and Scotty had been by her side throughout the whole thing until she went into labour. It had been a long and difficult labour for Elisa and she had struggled through it but finally Gabriella had arrived. Both he and Elisa loved her from the moment she was born and when they got home from the hospital was when he proposed to Elisa and she accepted. For a while Scotty had everything he wanted until it all came crashing down.

About eight months after Gabby was born was when Elisa started doing things out of the ordinary and kept asking Scotty if he could hear the voices to. Scotty was concerned but thought she was tired with looking after Gabby while he worked shifts as a police officer. When it didn't get better they went to the doctors who confirmed Elisa had the Schizophrenia gene and was likely triggered by the trauma of childbirth. For the first three years Elisa was almost the same besides the odd behaviour and Scotty finally made detective meaning he worked nights at west so he could be home with his girls during the day. Just as they had settled into a new routine, it wasn't to last.

Elisa kept getting worse, saying she heard more voices, seeing things that weren't there but the worst thing was that Gabby would be left alone in the apartment when Elisa wondered off during one of her episodes. At other times Scotty would come home to find Elisa shouting with her ears covered that the voices and giants were coming to get her. When this happened, Scotty would find that Gabby had shut herself in her closet as Elisa's behaviour had scared her so much that was she crying and shaking. Scotty would hold her tightly until she calmed down and knew that she was safe. Once Gabby was settled, Scotty would do the same for Elisa but it took more time to calm her. Then once she was calm, Elisa would hold Gabby close to her and apologise for making her upset. Each time Gabby forgave her.

Even with increasing her medication it didn't help and as much as Scotty loved Elisa, he knew she couldn't be left alone with Gabby anymore. The last thing they needed was CPS crawling all over the place. When he transferred to homicide his parent's, Elisa's mom or sister would look after Gabby and kept her overnight if he was working late. As Elisa's sister and mom both worked a lot, it was mainly his mom that looked after Gabby. It was the best thing as Gabby's Spanish was as good as his and he knew his mom would respect what he wanted for Gabby. When his brothers kids came along, his mom also looked after them giving Gabby time with her cousins.

Gabby was thriving in her routine but he and Elisa were still going round in circles. She would get better then relapse again, they'd increase the meds, and it would get better but then worse again. Scotty couldn't keep doing this and Elisa didn't want him to be going through this either so she went to stay with her sister before going back to hospital. Scotty let her see Gabby when they were living together and when Elisa lived with her sister but he didn't want Gabby to see her mom in the hospital, so when Elisa went into the hospital Scotty didn't bring Gabby to see her. It was hard for Elisa but she knew it was for the best and she agreed with Scotty. Gabby asked to see her but Scotty told her, her mom was too sick and needed rest but he always brought the cards Gabby made for Elisa when he visited her.

The last time Scotty seen Elisa, she was getting better and he finally thought this time she wouldn't relapse then they could be a family again but once again he was wrong. When Stillman had taken him away to tell him that Elisa had jumped off the bridge, he didn't want to believe it. The love of his life, best friend and mother of his child was gone. He should have done more to help her. Maybe if he'd let her see Gabby more, it might have given her more reason to fight. If he hadn't gotten her pregnant, she might have had longer. If he stayed with her, she wouldn't have jumped. Guilt, anger, sadness and heartbreak consumed him while he had to deal with her family, collecting her things and arranging her funeral. Gabby was kept away from the funeral. She barely remembered her mom and the last thing Scotty wanted was her last memory to be of her funeral. Elisa had written a letter to Gabby like she had for Scotty but he was saving it for when she was older and would understand better. When Scotty couldn't sleep after Elisa's death, he would sit by Gabby's bed or lie beside her and hold her close to him as she slept.

After the funeral was when Scotty went through the darkest part of his life and it filled him with shame. On his first day back at work, he had dropped Gabby at his mom's but when he went to pick her up after beating the guy up in prison, his mom wouldn't give Gabby back to him. She knew he wasn't in the right headspace to look after himself let alone a child. He protested that he was fine but his mother knew him to well and told him to come back when he was really fine. He spoke to Gabby on the phone but he didn't see her for a while as he was dealing his grief in the form of Christina Rush.

She was pretty and it was nice to talk to someone who was fun and didn't want to talk about anything serious. He planned for it to be a one-time thing and he was telling the truth when he told her that he couldn't be anything to anyone right now. That included being a father to his daughter. He knew he had to end it but she was masking his grief with Elisa and in the end he couldn't do it. It took the NYPD cop coming down to tell him that Chris was wanted by the police that he knew he had hit rock bottom. He went to the grief counsellor and had to admit that it did help him move on. He went back to his parents to apologise till he was blue in the face and broke down in tears but as usual his parents were there for him, telling him he didn't need to apologise and they were here to help him. Once they talked everything out, Gabby had come home from school and ran straight into Scotty's arms, hugging him tightly not wanting to let go. He took her home and he made his apologies to her but luckily she was young enough that she wasn't mad and still didn't quite understand a lot. Everything quickly fell back into place but if Scotty worked to long, Gabby always asked if he was going away again like he did last time but he always promised he would never be away that long again.

Besides Stillman and Kat, no one on the squad knew about Gabby. It wasn't that she was a bad kid, quite the opposite but he liked to keep his personal and work life separate. Stillman knew as it was in his personal file and Kat knew as he let it slip when she was complaining about being a single parent. He swore her to secrecy and she understood, which also brought them closer as colleagues and friends. Unless the whole squad was going out, he always found an excuse not to go, as he wanted to spend time with his little girl. Like last night when Lily had asked him to drive to West Virginia with her and he said he needed to wash his hair. He hadn't seen Gabby in two days and wanted to get back to her but to do that he'd have to tell Lily about her. If he had a date or the team did go out for first Thursday, his parents were happy to keep Gabby longer knowing Scotty needed a break as well. Elisa's mom and sister helped out and seen Gabby when they could but Gabby still spent the majority of time at his parents.

When Kat Miller joined the team she had also kept her daughter a secret making him happy to know he wasn't wrong in keeping Gabby a secret from the team to. He may doubt his parents being proud of him but he was proud of Gabby. She was a straight A student, athletic, determined and the most caring child he'd ever met. His only concern with her was if she had got the same gene from Elisa that caused Schizophrenia. He knew there was nothing he could do about it but he just wanted to be prepared encase he had to go through it all again. Right now there were no immediate signs that she had the same condition but every time she asked Scotty if he could see or hear something, chills ran down his spine.

He and Gabby had been close from the minute he held her in his arms and as Elisa got worse, their bond only got stronger. Scotty never had to tell her off as she was scared about him being mad at her or leaving her but Scotty knew no matter what she did, he could never get mad at her, even if he should be mad. All she had to do was look at him and he was helpless.

Finishing his drink, he realised how tired he was himself and decided to call it a night. He checked all the windows were closed and the latch was on the door as he turned the lights off in the living room. Before he went to his own room, he sneaked a quick glance into Gabby's room and he couldn't stop the smile that spread across his face when he seen her fast asleep clutching one of her teddy bears. He quietly closed her door before crossing the opposite door into his own room and soon falling into a deep sleep himself.

The next morning Scotty was up before Gabby giving him time to move the furniture around in the living room. With all the brutality he'd seen over the years, he made sure that Gabby was capable of defending herself. She went to boxing class once a week but Scotty decided to teach her himself at home as well. Once Gabby was up, they did their work out and Scotty couldn't stop smiling at how good she was getting. Once they were finished, Gabby helped Scotty move all the furniture back before they got breakfast and sat on the couch watching cartoons.

"Our weekend of fun starts now Mi Amor." Scotty said taking a mouthful of cereal. "What do you want to do?"

"I want to go to the movies and get a cheesesteak from Geno's." Gabby smiled. "Oh I wanna go swimming to and bowling."

"That's a lot of fun Gabs." Scotty laughed at everything she wanted to do.

"I know Daddy. Do I only get to pick one?" Gabby asked as she looked away from the TV to him.

"Hmm let me see." Scotty smiled as he turned to face her to." I'll make you a deal."

"Ok." Gabby replied nervously.

"Once your cartoons are finished, if you clean your room properly then this afternoon we'll go to the movies and on the way home we need to go grocery shopping but we'll stop and get a cheesesteak for dinner." Scotty smiled at her. "Then if you keep your room clean and help with other chores, we can go swimming and bowling tomorrow."

"Really!" Gabby almost screamed she was so excited.

"Gabriella." Scotty warned in his dad voice to calm her down. "Only if you clean your room and do your other chores."

"Si Papi." Gabby replied calming down with Scotty's tone. "I promise."

"Ok Mi amor." Scotty smiled back her now that she had calmed down. "It's a deal."

They sealed the deal with a fist bump before going back to the serious matter of finishing breakfast and watching cartoons. When the cartoons were finished Gabby jumped off the couch to get ready for the day before turning to the serious tasks of cleaning her room. Once she was done in the bathroom, Scotty got ready as well before he started the task of opening the mail that had piled up over the last few days. Just as he finished, Gabby practically dragged him through to her room to show him how clean her room was and Scotty was impressed. Everything was in its place, laundry was put away, bed made and she had even dusted.

"Maybe I should bribe her more often." Scotty thought as he looked around the room.

Happy that she had kept her side of the deal, Scotty kept his side. They headed to the movies after lunch to see a new teenage action film – luckily for Scotty, Gabby wasn't into princesses or chick flicks. Once the movie was done, they headed to the grocery store with Gabby proudly pushing the cart. Once they were done shopping, they stopped to pick up cheesesteaks for dinner but took them home so they could both put cheese whiz on them. The rest of the night was spent playing cards, watching TV and Gabby practicing her Spanish.

The next morning, Scotty got up and when he walked into the living room, he was met by the smell of coffee as Gabby proudly handed him a cup as he sat down on the couch.

"Thank you Mi Amor." Scotty said taking a sip. It was an almost perfect cup of coffee and making coffee was one of the few things he trusted her with in the kitchen.

"I made breakfast to." Gabby beamed at him as she disappeared back into the kitchen.

Scotty's stomach sank hoping she hadn't tried to use the stove or that there wasn't a huge mess everywhere but knowing she wanted to go swimming and bowling, he knew it was probably safe.

Gabby came out the kitchen holding two plates with toaster waffles, whipped cream, chocolate sauce and strawberries on them.

"Thank you sweetie." Scotty said taking his plate out of her hands. "Looks good."

Gabby smiled at him as she sat down beside him with her plate and they tucked into breakfast.

"That was delicious." Scotty said as he finished. They weren't the best waffles as they were store bought but he didn't want to hurt her feelings.

"Thanks Daddy." Gabby said as she finished to. "What other chores need done?"

"Gabs." Scotty sighed as he turned to face her. "Slow down. All the chores don't need done today."

"Ok." Gabby replied as her smile dropped. She just wanted to do fun things with him before he had to go back to work.

"All you need to do is clean the kitchen and do the dishes from breakfast." Scotty smiled at her hating to see her sad. "Dust the apartment and keep your room clean then we can go swimming and bowling."

"I will papi." Gabby smiled back as she collected their plates and went to the kitchen to clean up.

Scotty smiled as she disappeared back into the kitchen knowing she was just eager to do fun things with him encase she stayed with his parents for the next few days. He left Gabby to do the chores he had asked her to do while he ironed the clothes that needed done then packed their bags for swimming and bowling later. Just as he had got their stuff ready, Gabby had finished her chores and they headed out for one more day of fun.

They decided to go bowling first where Scotty had won three games and Gabby had won two but she vowed that she would beat him next time. Luckily the indoor swimming complex was near the bowling alley so they didn't have far to get to their next destination. They had a blast at the pool, playing hide and seek underwater, going down the slides, in the rapid waves and because it was quiet, Gabby squealed in delight as Scotty threw her about in the water. At times he didn't know who was having more fun; Gabby or him. Eventually their hunger made them get out of the pool and they showered, got dressed and Scotty waited for Gabby to dry her hair so they could head home, with a stop to pick up a pizza on the way.

Once they had eaten the pizza, Scotty got their lunches prepared for the next day as Gabby went to get her school bag ready and got her pyjamas on so she was ready for bed.

"Gabriella." Scotty said as she saw Gabby watching TV. "You got everything ready for tomorrow?"

"Si Papi." Gabby smiled back at him. "Everything is done."

"Just checking Mi Amor." Scotty said knowing she wasn't lying as he checked his watch. "Twenty more minutes of TV then go brush your teeth and go to bed."

"Ok." Gabby replied.

Scotty went to his room to get his things ready for work tomorrow as Gabby finished watching TV.

"That's twenty minutes Mi Amor." Scotty called to Gabby as he poked his head out of his bedroom door once he was done.

"Ten more minutes Daddy." Gabby said without taking her eyes off the TV.

"Now Gabriella." Scotty said back in his dad voice and using her full first name so she knew he meant business.

"Ok." Gabby grunted as she got off the couch and turned the TV off and headed to the bathroom to finish getting ready for bed.

Scotty smirked at how well that voice worked every time and went back to choosing a tie for tomorrow. Once he heard Gabby come out of the bathroom, he went to her room just as Gabby was climbing into bed.

"Ok let's get you all cosy." Scotty said as he sat down on her bed and pulled the covers up around her.

"Can we do the same next weekend Daddy?" Gabby asked as she got comfy in the bed.

"Maybe." Scott said hoping he would be off again next weekend. "We can maybe do other fun things next weekend."

"What if you have to work?" Gabby asked as her face turned serious.

"If that happens, then we'll have double fun when I'm back." Scotty smiled back her hoping to make her smile.

"Ok." Gabby replied still looking serious. "Are you picking me up from Abuela and Abuelo's tomorrow night?"

"Sweetheart you know I can't answer that." Scotty sighed as Gabby's serious look cut through his heart. "But I know that right now it's a maybe and Daddy's gonna do everything he can to pick you up tomorrow night."

"Ok." Gabby said as a slight smile appeared back on her face.

She sat up in bed and went into Scotty's open arms and hugged him tightly as he did the same. Scotty gave her a kiss on the cheek as he gently pushed her out of his arms and back onto the bed.

"Are you just trying to stay up longer?" Scotty asked as he pulled the covers back up around her.

"No." Gabby laughed as she settled back into bed.

"Good cause it ain't working." Scotty smiled back. "At least we got more cereal yesterday so we don't need to pay Uncle Mike and Aunt Ally a visit tomorrow."

"Can we have toaster waffles again for breakfast?" Gabby asked almost getting out of bed again.

"If you stop talking and go to sleep I'll think about it." Scotty smirked back.

"Ok I will." Gabby replied as she settled down again.

"That's better." Scotty smiled at her. "Sweet dreams and I'll see you in the morning."

"Love you Daddy." Gabby yawned as she was finally getting sleepy.

"Love you to Mi Amor." Scotty smiled as Gabby's eyes finally closed.

He leaned forward and kissed her forehead then slowly got off the bed not wanting to disturb her. Turning off her bedroom light, he quietly closed her bedroom door and headed back to the living room. He called his mom to sort Gabby's schedule out for the coming week then headed to bed himself. All the weekend fun had drained him and he had a feeling another bad case was around the corner this week which filled him with dread already.

It was like John Smith had asked him. What gets you out of bed in the morning to do what you do and make you carry on? Scotty's answer would always be the same.

His daughter.

I have a few more stories in progress for this. If you interested leave a review
