The path through the door led upstairs... to an archeological storage area. An obelisk with Wendigo carvings was against a wall, and the shelves were piled with relics. Virginia's voice greeted Izuku's ears: "Edwin's reluctantly agreed to help, if only to make sure nothing happens to me. One of his squad mates mentioned to him a weapon being built at Astra... some sort of cannon. We should be able to destroy Astra beyond reparation; enough to shut down this project. Unfortunately, everyone is working round the clock with the increase in production, so we'll need to pull an alarm to get everyone out. Then we can sneak into the underground tram tunnel that connects the two sites. No one should get hurt... or hopefully caught." Tram tunnel... that can get me from the nearby railway station to Astra! Thank you Virginia! Almost in response, she said, "To whoever may find this recording, please understand that Fisher has strayed beyond reason. If we don't put a stop to this madness, they could destroy this valley, and with power like this, maybe even the world. If we've failed, please do whatever it takes to stop them before it's too late." Don't worry, Virginia. I plan to do just that. You've told me how to shut it down and how to get there. I won't fail. With this new goal in mind, he walked through the rubble that used to be a wall, into what was Virginia's office. The last medallion was resting on her desk. Picking it up, Izuku was now proud to have collected the set, but didn't linger as another pulse from Astra pulled even more from the life around him. The ceiling had collapsed in such a way as to allow him access to the roof once more. Getting there, he used a beam to get across to the next building. Meandering through the rubble back to the rooftop, he found a door blocked by an amrita generator. Powering it, he entered, and pacified an amrita swarm, just in time to hear Fisher proudly proclaim: "Word has come in of a suspected attempt to sabotage our operations here at Area 634. The report indicates that a soldier from the Pathfinder division may have committed himself to treason by planning to use the Thanatos cannon prototype being developed at Astra to destroy the reactor." Izuku had made it to the top of the tower. Looking around, he searched for where he needed to go. There didn't seem to be any way forward... except when he looked down at the ground. It was weakened, and at this height, he'd break right through it. Fisher continued: "The report came from a colleague of the alleged perpetrator, suspecting him as a potential Soviet operative. Since we have only one man's word to go on," Izuku dropped down, listening as he did. "...we will have to catch him and any other accomplice in the act. As such, guards will be posted, discreetly, at Astra. Nothing will interfere with PENDULUM'S COMPLETION!" They were caught... The room had mostly crumbled, and the only way forward was into a silo styled structure. I wonder what this was for... He walked through the room into what was clearly a prison area. Only a few jail cells lie within the door to his left. Entering the prison wing, he saw that a cell was open. Exploring it, he found a note, written by Edwin: "I claim responsibility for the sabotage attempt. Virginia King had no role or knowledge of my plan to damage Astra facility. I deceived her into coming with me to ensure her safety. Please, release her from custody." He tried to put all the blame on him? For his love? That is heroic. I will remember this... and the world will know of this too. Going out and up the stairs, he found another open cell, at the end of the hall. This was Virginia's cell. A note was left behind: "To whoever may find this, please stop Pendulum at all costs! Andrew Fisher has gone mad and won't stop short of harming this planet to satisfy his pride. Do anything you can to disrupt the project before they destroy this valley. There's nothing more I can do now." Setting down the note. Izuku looked to the side and saw a music box. It was ornate, polished wood and brass, and still preserved perfectly. Opening it, he listened to it's full tune, as its gentle notes clashed with the thunder produced by Astra: After it finished, he decided to leave it there, and come back after he'd stopped Astra, and gotten proper help. I want your memory to be preserved, Virginia. Turning, he left the cell and continued down the hall. The door was blocked, but the cable went into the room next to it. It was stylized as a interrogation room. When he powered the generator, another audio tape played. Although, this time, it started with a guard. Izuku listened intently as the generator slowly inched the door up. "July 29th, 1945. Interrogating suspects involved with the attempted sabotage. Listen, just be upfront with us: are you Soviet spies?" Virginia responded indignant, "No, for the last time, this has nothing to do with politics!" "Alright, alright, calm down. Just tell us your reasons." "You know how insane Fisher's become! He's willing to destroy this entire valley to-" It was then that the recording picked up screams in the background, mixed with the roars of Wendigos. Oh Allmight... The guard spoke up, "What the hell was that?" More screams, more roars. Getting louder and louder. Now it was clearly in the room as Virginia was screaming "NO!" And then it cut off as the recording was physically ended there. Virginia... in her attempt to stop pendulum, was killed by the Wendigos... but there's something not right... they are easily taken care of by pathfinders... where are they at this time? His thoughts were interrupted by the end of the door being lifted up. Exiting the building, Izuku found that he was looking down at a dig site. And there seemed to be lights leading down into the mouth of a giant cannibal, carved into the mountain. Well, I guess nature is just telling me to go there. And so he entered, jumping down the stone throat into the dark. As soon as he landed, he regretted his choice immediately. The moonlight only allowed him to see a small patch of land. Fortunately, an Amrita generator lay within that patch of land. Powering it, more lights turned on... but that also stirred the hornet's nest. Or more accurately, the Wendigo nest. Three of them roared challenges, one phasing out of invisibility in anger. Remember, they're just like Amrita swarms... He remained resolute as he avoided the danger, taking each one down as quickly as he could. His now trained reflexes were a close match to the instinctual predatory hunters. As soon as they went away, he took a sigh of relief before the wall at the back of the room burst open and another two entered. Firing volleys at them, he spent all of the excess energy he had access to before he realized they were... purified. There was no better term he could come up with. Seeing an amrita battery, he recarged his energy levels to fully charge the 6 power cells. Fortunately, there was a metal crate before him. Walking to it, he opened it... and found some kind of attachment for the LEAF suit. They slotted inside the batter container, fitting snugly inside. Andrew Fisher, calm for once, started to explain the upgrade: "Private Hendricks, I am providing your squad with the newly devised Magnetic Core for your LEAF suit so that you may test its limitations. Take your squad to the train loading dock connecting to the tram tunnel: it should prove an ample testing ground for this latest upgrade. Report back by the end of the day tomorrow." Perhaps the tram tunnel can be accessed through the train depot? I have to try. Walking close to the metallic panels, Izuku lifted a leg and found it gravitating towards it. When he transferred his weight to the panel, he looked around him. This is kinda trippy. I just hope it won't fail on me! He walked across the panels, still getting used to the distance it took before they stopped working. They seemed to encompass the whole of a LEAF suit stride. Kicking it up a notch, he ran across the rest of them until he made it across. This is perfect! I know there were some metal panels like this before... this will allow me to get to places I couldn't before! Looking around, and up, he noticed the next set of panels went up, towards the surface. So he went that way, making a mental note of the Acorn Door he was leaving behind. When he got to the top, he found himself in an underground ruin, with two firefly trees. Bringing them back to life, he was able to open the door and back outside. Taking a deep breath, he was soon brought back to reality as another pulse from Astra drained even more life. I have to keep moving! More magnetic panels greeted him as he arrived back at the train station, the Wendigo he left alone still there. It was then that it revealed a surprise. It had a ranged attack that could drain amrita. Shit! Gotta keep running! He was hit twice, but it wasn't much amrita taken. When he landed, he climbed up the next panels, out of its reach, and moved inside. The roof was lined with magnetic panels, allowing him to cross the next two platforms to the end. A large, long, tunnel with multiple gaps. As he ran, the pushrod pistons gave their all to accelerate the greenete to be as fast as possible, clearing all of the gaps before landing on the other side. The path winded a bit, with more magnetic panels, before two wendigos flew up from the bottom of the only way forward. Quickly, he dispatched them, before turning his attention back to the pit. Only one way forward... Here it goes! And so, he jumped down another pit.
