Proposal, It's All In The Air

Neil was going to propose to Belle.

The real question was how was he going to do it.

He was glad Belle was back in his life. After graduating high school, him leaving first being a year older, they broke up since their lives took them to different parts of the world. Belle leaving for England to study horses and show jumping, and Neil with his modelling around the world.

As they were both getting into their mid-twenties, they both saw each other over lunch. Lunch became a dinner date a few days later, and soon they were back as a couple.

Belle eyed a few British boys here and there during the college years, but nothing serious. It rained too much in England. Neil, well, never really saw anyone. Couldn't get pass the mirror to see anyone after high school.

Time was flying, and he couldn't go on another day without Belle. He got Aphrodite's opinion's first. She was the Goddess of Love after all.

She gave the green light.

Must have sent her son Eros to look after their union.

Talking with the rest of the guys helped see everything in perspective, and the girls seemed to be supportive as well. Theresa being Belle's distant cousin.

One opinion, however, wasn't so easily swayed.

And he had four legs and a long face.

"Now, Pegasus…" his arms were up. "I know that we both never saw eye to eye, but if we have anything in common, it's that we both really care about Belle."

Even before Neil and Belle were a couple, Pegasus would always imply to Neil that he would make him fall off midair.

He closed his eyes as the winged horse's hooves clopped around.

"Please don't kill me…"

Should he propose usual candlelit dinner at a restaurant? At a party with all of their friends? On vacation while they were together alone?

He tried to get a reservation at Belle's favourite restaurant. It was fully booked all month. Their schedules were too busy to go on a vacation soon. The next holiday party wouldn't start for a while.

It was starting to look grim.

The best things were usually the simplest things, right? And the mountains next door looked amazing this time of year. And Belle loved trail riding over there with her horses.

It was perfect.

Which left him with his last and only option…

Pegasus.

Did the Gods hate him that much.

They both planned the day to fly over the mountains. Being nervous around Pegasus helped hid the big surprise he had.

"You rode Pegasus loads of times when we were in high school, Neil," assured Belle. "It's not like you've ridden him for the first time."

"Right…" nodded Neil as he winced, feeling sixteen again.

He held on to their lunch boxed and supplies, and were soon airborne.

It was just like old times in their teenage years. Fighting mythical creatures, saving the world from Cronus. When times weren't as crazy, they saw the world high above the clouds.

They both saved the world together, almost facing death, and he'd do it all over again with her.

He placed his arms around Belle. He felt her hand gently placed on his arm. It was like they were the only two people in the world as they flew in the sky.

All of a sudden, a big gust of wind blew in their direction. Belle being used to turbulence knew what to do and held on. Neil being rusty and as usual, was flying off of Pegasus.

"Help…!"

The one moment when that winged horse didn't plan his demise.

"Neil…!" She grabbed her boyfriend's arm, and soon their hands were holding on to each other.

He was dangling in the air for dear life, keeping in mind to not look down. In situations like these, not seeing how far you had to drop made things easier.

At least they knew to keep their supplies in their bags when they flew so often.

It was now or never. If he didn't do it and end up in Hades, he'd regret it forever.

"Belle, if I don't make it out alive, this is what I was going to ask."

"Ask me what?" Belle winced at the situation they were in.

"Will you marry me?"

The wind blew too hard for her to hear.

"What?"

"Will you marry me?!"

"Can't hear you!"

"WILL YOU MARRY ME?!"

Her eyes looked so different, it was like she forgot she was holding on to her boyfriend's hand for dear life.

"Yes… Yes, I will marry you!"

As they landed on the ground, at last some rest for Neil, he got out the ring, got on his knee and placed it on her.

It was the most unconventional proposal ever.

They never had normal lives to begin with, fighting evil on a daily basis as teens, and that Greek Gods were real.

Though they knew together, they could get through anything, even face Cronus again.

Now what will the wedding look like?
