Funk

'
When Dean returned from a quick coffee run, he immediately noticed the mood in the motel room had shifted significantly during the last 30 odd minutes. While his younger brother was sitting in the exact same spot at the derelict excuse of a table as when he had dug into his research with the gusto of a starving man invited to a smorgasbord, he was now staring sightlessly into the middle distance, his forehead creased.

"Hey, man, what got you in such a funk?" the elder Winchester offered to announce his return when no reaction from his brother was forthcoming.

Sam ignored the question in favour of one of his own. "Don't you sometimes wonder why a person ends up becoming a vengeful spirit?"

"That's very deep of you, Sammy but completely irrelevant for the job at hand," Dean huffed in exasperation, placing the steaming cup of coffee directly under Sam's nose. "I don't care what kind of sob-story drove the poor bastard to becoming a vengeful spirit while he was alive. I only care about how we can stop it from killing again."

"Your compassion with other people's lot is truly astounding."

"And you should get your priorities straight."
