When they arrived back into the city, the mood was rock bottom. Due to his near constant Amrita exposure, Izuku's stab wound from the crazy blonde girl was already recovered. However, many of his students were not as lucky. Uraraka was on death's door, due that psycho nearly completely draining her of blood. Aparantly, she believed it was a friend's duty to spare some, but her hunger was far exceeding what either her or Tsu could give. Fortunately, the doctors said that she would recover, given enough time. Same with Tsu, her best friend. Momo was currently suffering from head trauma, as well as emotional trauma, which left her effectively mute for the forseeable future. Many other students had similar situations, but were determined to push past that. Of the villains that were collected, from the attack, he did not elect to revive Muscular. Not only was he a vile twisted man, but he'd have caused a lot of issues in the future regardless. They couldn't force him to, anyway. As he walked around the hospital, checking on his students for the third day in a row, Jirou brought him to Momo, who then handed him a device. It was a reciever for the tracker. "Did you already give one to the other UA staff? The actual pro heroes?" She nodded, and Jirou spoke for her, "She has... but the others want to ask you something." They left Momo to rest as the violette brought them to the group that was in the best shape: Bakugo, Kirishima, Denki, Shinsou, Awase, and Tetsutetsu. They were watching an interview with Aizawa, who looked just as presentable as the first time he was in a suit. Clearing her throat, she called the attention of the others. Izuku's mood soured as the explosive blond looked at him. "What do you want from me?" The blond, to his credit, looked sheepish, "Look I..." "You don't get to call me that, Bakugo." Jirou interrupted a possible argument, "Sir, please, can you help us go and get them?" That was too much to ask. Especially because he didn't want to do it. He wasn't a hero, not even liscenced. The only reason he fought back when he did was because of the contract. He wouldn't be the one to break the terms, and one of those was defending his students when attacked. This did not cover that. "Help... you realize I'd be breaking many, many laws and my contract. I'm not a certified pro. I can only sit on the sidelines..." Mina asked, "You helped us before..." He cut her off. "That was technically under self defense. Look... even if I wasn't a pro, my orders are clear. I am to make sure you don't do anything stupid. This is probably the worst action you could take while recovering. I am doing what you should be doing, putting my trust into the people trained to rescue them." "Sir..." Izuku was adamant. "No, this is not my job. I'm not trained for heroics." Izuku felt vulnerable without the suit. He wasn't allowed to wear it in the hospital. Bakugo then derisively said, "What the fuck happened to you, Deku? You used to want to be a hero..." The others looked at him in shock. This was the opposite of convincing him. That made him snap, "I've been told I couldn't. All throughout my life. You told me to even jump off a building. Now that I've got the LEAF suit, you are expecting me to become something I have no desire to do? Fuck, you're more irritating than Allmight, and he had the sense to back off after hearing me out. I've already saved the world once, damnit! The stress of the first time made me realize that it isn't something I want to do. And you can't force me to do it again." They were not expecting that. Jirou wouldn't let that comment slide, and the rest of them backed her up: "What do you mean, you've already saved the world once?! You can't just say that without explaining!" Izuku sighed, "I guess that's out of the bag. I was going to publish this with my findings... but the suit isn't the only thing capable of what I did. I can revive the recently deceased and dead complex life forms. However... there were two facilities... they extracted life energy from the valley... put it through an amplifier, and then sent it back to be made into weapons. I... the amplifier was an important relic from an ancient civilisation. I took it out, and Astra went into overdrive. Taking more and more. If I didn't shut it down, it would've killed the entire planet!" He shook his head, still adamant on his position, "Heroics isn't for me. Trust me when I know that evil is often born from good intentions, and what you're proposing will have unintended consequences. I will have to report your intention to do this to Nezu. It's a part of my teaching contract." Denki asked, "What if we went out without fighting?" The greenette explained carefully, taking down that argument as well. "Even if you do that, there will be a villain who will attack, and you'll be driven to do so. Besides, everything's fine. The interview is a cover for the raid, as it was pre-recorded." Their eyes widened. "Really?!" He nodded, but didn't smile. He, admittedly, was still worried about Ibara. "Yep, you have nothing to worry about." As he walked out, he turned to them. "If you still go out after them, then you will be in trouble. I wouldn't be surprised if you would be expelled. So stay put." It was then that Nezu called him, and he picked up the line. What was said surprised him, "Monoma's awake, and he'll only talk to you. Suit up. We need you here." Monoma waited to be interrogated. They had interviewed him twice already, and each time he'd asked for Midoriya to question him. Now, his wish was granted. Midoriya entered the interrogation room. Looking over at him, he narrowed his eyes, untrusting of the blond. The Copycat hadn't given him a proper reason to, anyways. "Why did you want to speak with me, Monoma?" What he said didn't make sense. "You are just like me... well, what I could've been." "I heard how you assisted the League, and now wish to turn on them. What made you change your tune?" The single word was simple, yet profound enough to be reasonable. "Kota." Ah. He had become close to the kid. I bet he had felt a massive sense of betrayal when he found that Monoma was with the Villain that killed his parents. "What about Kota changed your mind?" His face was still pale, and nervous. Izuku didn't blame him. "It was that he was suffering because of actions like mine. He didn't sign up for this." Content with this action, he decided to refocus on what he said before: "You said, and I quote: I am what you could've been..." He nodded, unable to look into the greenette's eyes. "Yes. I lied about my backstory. I was... well... born quirkless. For 10 years I didn't have a quirk. I was abandoned by my biological parents, and moved between homes. And then I met him." Izuku put the pieces together. He had the motive, and now the only one who had the capability to transfer quirks... especially considering the Nomu from before. "All For One." He nodded. "So then he gave me a quirk. I didn't want to be... thought of as lesser because of my late bloomer status. When I got one, and one that could be used for heroics... people finally looked my way. I didn't want to be be left behind, and so I adopted the views of those I was surrounded by... Until I met you." Izuku crossed his arms. "So you were an actor... when it came to everyone. Including yourself." The blond's eyes widened as he looked into Izuku's. Tears sstarted to form. "But I couldn't just sit by when Kota was attacked. He didn't deserve any of that... and when I found out that his killer was in the movement I went behind... It was a wake up call." Izuku completely understood. Not every villain was the same, and every person has a reason. It didn't excuse them. "You do have a conscience... but what you've done is serious. You'll probably be kept in prison for a while. You may be able to appeal for rehabilitation, who knows." "I... I have one last thing to say." He looked around, as if he was being watched, even now. "He knows that I've been captured and that they're going to attack his league. Kurogiri and Shigaraki are his most powerful people. He is accumulating power into Shigaraki, and Kurogiri is a linchpin." That was crucial. Even if they capture the main man himself, these two could absolutely wreck havok. "Thank you." It was then that he started to sweat, clenching his teeth in pain. Monoma's chest started to glow before catching fire. His screams pierced the air, causing Izuku to recoil back, eyes wide and god-hand at the ready. A figure emerged from the flames, different hues of orange flame giving form to an individual... in a well dressed suit. The figure was made from flames, stood behind the blond, far taller than even the greenette in the LEAF suit. When it spoke, the greenette had an inkling of who he was. "So you're All for One." The supervillain chuckled, "It's good that you know of me, it makes this so much easier... and I know of you. You are the new teacher at UA. You got him to talk, eh?" He smiled sinisterly, his head completely obliterated from a previous battle. Izuku's eyes narrowed in suspicion. "Is this your way of tying up loose ends?" The man mused his thoughts into a baritone symphony of words. "You could say that. This quirk was hard to obtain, but useful in instilling loyalty." The villain seemed to look him over, "You know, you interest me. A quirkless who was able to grab the rat's attention." "If he didn't, I wouldn't be here right now." "That's true. Don't worry, he will cease to be your concern soon enough. The heroes will fail." His eyes widened, "You know they were going to raid you." He nodded, continuing his menacing smile, "Indeed. Just stay out of our way, and I will make sure that you can leave Japan. I have nothing against you." "But you have no interest in just Japan, do you?" The man absolutely laughed, glad that Izuku was smart enough to see through his motives. "Haha! You're right." "And have no interest in history before your time." He tisked against that, as if offended, "On the contrary. I have witnessed so much of it that I can be considered a living historical record. It interests me greatly. I have no reason to harm you... or your mother." That made him snap. "The fact you mention her means you have intentions of manipulating me. And I will not allow that." He stood closer to the fire, despite its heat. This made AFO laugh. The baritone voice was clear as he gave his last proclamation. It was clear that the burning corpse of Monoma wouldn't sustain the fire any longer. "You are very interesting! It would be very unfortunate if I had to do anything to you. If I found you first... ah, but that is just thinking about what could have been. Here is my ultimatum: Just stand aside, and nothing will happen." The fire flickered out, and all that remained was Monoma's corpse, burnt to a charred husk, with some of the edges crumbling into ash. I guess you've suffered enough, huh? He then thought about what the villain said, and realized, He's got something the heroes will find hard to fight against! But why call me out? I'm not a hero... unless... No, it'd be suicide for them. They wouldn't. But I have to check! He then ran out of the police station, past the bewhildered guards who now grumbled about having to clean up after the villain.
