"Let's make a family."

"Pfft!"

Relon Lucinance, 18 years of age, has experienced a lot. He's survived the near self-destruction of a planet. Managed to not be sent into the vacuum of space following said explosion. Dealt with murderers and monsters different and alike. Became a "traveler" of sorts helping around random towns amongst random planets. The list goes on. Of course, he couldn't have done all of it by himself. Much of the effort and reason for his life being intact at all belonged to Eina. Otherwise famously known amongst the dark areas of the web, not to mention far reaches of the numerous worlds, as Silver Wolf.

They've managed to escape the clutches of death several times over and after years of experience with life itself, he'd confidently say he was equipped to deal with most situations. Both normal and abnormal. If he couldn't, Silver Wolf easily could given her cracked reality-altering abilities compared to his own.

Today, however, was a day he wasn't at all prepared for. Hence why he was in the middle of breaking, likely, his personal record for the longest spit take.

Wiping the spilled tea from his mouth, it takes a few beats upon his chest for the protagonist to gather himself. One for his own sanity to grasp the words that departed from his partner's lips and the other to stall in order to come up with a proper response.

Wait…

"How do I respond to that?!" He exclaims.

This was Eina. Aka Silver Wolf. Logic was foreign in regards to her unless it suited the hacker. He knew this and here he was attempting to process something related to her with the very thing that didn't at all work because of her.

Sighing, he leans back into the abnormally long couch Silver Wolf conned off the black market. That was a fond memory. It would be the first of oh so many more visits and memories they would make. What was he doing again?

Feeling a small weight pop a squat next to him, his eyes go to the smug grin he's adored since their early youth days.

Oh yeah.

Inhaling a calm breath before exhaling, he meets her jovial expression with a deadpan.

"Explain."

"What do you want me to explain?"

"All of it, obviously."

"Things have been getting pretty quiet so I figured a change of pace was needed." She shrugs, getting comfortable. Legs propped, glasses activated, and handheld device switched on.

"Do you realize what you're insinuating?"

"Yeah, it's no big deal so what's the problem?" She mumbles, twitching an eye as a gloomy sound chimes signaling her defeat. "Darn it. Stupid boss spamming the same OP move like a-"

"Eina."

Calling each other by their name was normal but rarely did either use a certain tone. It was an unspoken rule that when this occurred, full focus was required. Whether one was in deep trouble or a serious topic was to be discussed.

Lifting her glasses off, gray meets vermilion as she shows her full attention.

"Are you serious about this? I know we have our own place, are well off financially thanks to you, not to mention we're pretty much set to live a life of leisure but do you really want to be a mom this soon because-"

"Who said anything about being a mom?" She blinks with a tilt of her head.

"You mentioned wanting a family. It's only ever been us and the last few times we did it we used protection but then again, you used the pill last week so-"

"I'm not talking about becoming pregnant, doofus!" Despite the deadpan she was giving him, it was obvious how embarrassed she must have felt given just how flushed her cheeks were. Then again, so were he-

Wait.

"But you said family."

"I did." She nods.

"Of?"

"People, duh. We already have March 7th and besides, if I wanted to be a mom, I'd just drag you to a random world that's not doing well and just adopt the first kid we liked."

Raising a hand about to list off the levels of wrong that was morally behind her batch of words, the sound in his voice dies at the logic used. Seriously, logic and Silver Wolf did not at all go together.

"You know this is very uncharacteristic of you." He decides on as she cuddles next to the male. "March would probably comment on that too."

"Meh. She's more often with the Astral Express than here nowadays." She mutters with an averted gaze.

"She's still family." He deadpans, ignoring the eyeroll. "Besides, stopping by every now and then isn't a bad thing."

"But falling for you when I already called dibs is."

"I still don't get how that works. You didn't want to share me before but when she decided to go with the Astral Express, you were all for sharing."

"Because she wouldn't be around as much."

"You love that girl just like me. No fooling anyone there."

"I have no clue what you're talking about." She shrugs.

"You literally fawned over the idea of naming her after the date we found her on. Yeah no, that one ain't working."

"Tch, fine. I'll admit that I miss her… sometimes."

"That's more like it. Too energetic for you still, right?" He chuckles.

"Having you can be headache-inducing enough. When it was the both of you… ugh. That year together felt like playing Sekiro blind. Stressful regarding literally everything."

"We were not that bad." He scoffs though her glare begs to differ. "I think."

"The thanks we get for saving her from that block of ice. Hmpf. Your luck is beyond bizarre. Finding a girl in a block of ice is one thing but naked too?!"

"Why do you keep bringing that part up?! It's not like I wanted to see!"

"I was literally watching you." She says, her soft pout shifting to a deadpan. "Your eyes were glued to her!"

"I feel like we're getting off-topic now…" He sighs. "Can I at least know what brought this on?"

"Didn't I already answer that?"

"The actual reason."

"You think my reasoning isn't solid enough?"

"It's not that. Just feels like too little of an excuse. It's been just us for the last 13 years so to suddenly want more company just 'because,' that doesn't exactly seem believable."

At this, Silver Wolf goes quiet.

"Because…"

"No. We're not doing this." He lightly chops her head. "I'm saying no until you tell me." Now it was her turn again to glower at her lover. "Are you gonna tell me or not?"

Returning her gaze to the handheld device, he could tell her focus wasn't at all on it. He learned early on one of the easiest ways for Silver Wolf to think was to focus on something else aside from the point of interest. This case being Relon himself.

To think it would be so difficult to claim the catalyst behind this spur-of-the-moment declaration… It left a part of him worried.

"You're always going out." She begins regaining his immediate focus. "On your own, I mean."

"Yeah and? That's what we've always done. You cover me and if things get rough, I make a break for it."

"And if you can't?"

There it was.

Silver Wolf is literally his world. Her worries were his worries. Her joy was his. Their bond's numerous ascensions from strangers to inseparable friends to lovers held many learning experiences and cherishable memories neither wanted to let go of. Neither wanted to see the worst happen to the other. The sheer thought of the possible pain made his heart ache.

Falling onto his side, the slight thump of his body gains her attention. Looking at her best friend pat the open space in front of him, she doesn't hesitate in discarding her game before moseying over and spooning the male from the front.

Due to their upbringing being absent of parental figures, both held a strong need for physical touch. The sensation of skin contact has always been a remedy. Relon openly showed and admitted it whereas Silver Wolf would give more subtle gestures. Hand-holding was the common norm for the two in public with cuddling being a more sacred art both did when alone.

Trailing a hand along her spiral hair, he lets out a silent chortle at the girl inching closer. Just from being close, without looking, he could feel the little tension escape her body.

Cuddling was the ultimate cure to anything. That was something he'd argue over any day of the week.

"You know that won't happen so easily."

"Still… I've been having those thoughts again…"

The feeling of being helpless, only capable of watching as the worst possible outcome happened right before your eyes was an ill sensation he nor Silver Wolf ever wanted to experience after what happened…

The planet Uni was a rather small, quaint homeworld. It took only hours to travel across the entire planet. Not to mention its bountiful ecosystem and small human population made it easy to thrive for years to come.

If only that had been the case for them. Due to the conflict between two Aeons, literal dimensional Gods, the planet became poisoned per se. Like radiation, their very energies seeped into the planet's core, and slowly without any ever realizing it, Uni became poisoned. The fact that it held on for as long as it did was a miracle by itself. Alas, not all life could be saved.

Those aboard Uni's emergency vessel had suffered damage from a monster the two young fighters were fending off. Into the planet's very core was where it crashed. It scarred both severely but Silver Wolf was much worse. She was only a small distance away as she attempted to save the innocent lives on board. That became a leading cause behind her "scar" so to speak.

Too frightened to enter the field herself as the memories of her past haunt her, she honed her craft and abilities supporting Relon. Ensuring that no harm became of him while hating herself for having him go solo.

It was a wound that needed time to heal as well as the proper remedies.

Only on small trips such as shopping, dates, or to a Black Market did she physically get out. Sometimes pushing herself for Relon's sake and other times for her own. He believed one day Silver Wolf would join him out there without restraint. Only time would tell.

Noticing her turn over to bury herself in his chest, his arms instinctively wrap around the girl.

"We don't need to make a family. I can join a guild or something." He mumbles, tenderly tracing her spiral. "Maybe team up with March and her friends."

He knew what scared her the utmost was the unknown. It was one of the few things she couldn't access despite her skills and powers. That was easily the number one most frustrating thing. Aside from his own stubbornness at times.

A shake comes in response as she lifts her head up.

"I refuse to trust randoms. Both in-game and irl. I want you in a party with people who I know are skilled."

"We both know March is skilled. If she is, her friends likely are as well."

"Still…"

Giving a brisk peck to her forehead, he hums in a relaxed manner. It was humorous how dire the conversation, Silver Wolf always incorporated gamer slang somehow. It also meant a lot that she was trying to break out of her shell.

"You don't need to say it, Eina. I gotcha. Let's give it some time and explore our options. Not like we're in a total rush, right?"

In response to his words, the minor tension that had begun to return vanished in an instant.

"I suppose." She breathes snuggling into his embrace. "Cuddles are nice."

"I know right?"

Ding.

Twitching an eye irritably, both look to the other. Silently, they discarded their phones.

[Lucinance Household Chat]

March: Hey guys :D! Wanna meet up?

Blinking dumbly, a famous trait of Lucinances, both look to the other before back at the text.

"Well, that's quite the coincidence."

"No, your luck is bizarre like I said."

With a few clicks followed by a pound on the send key, their next plans were locked in.

Eina: We were actually just talking about something like that.

Relon: Just tell us where, March. We'll see you soon :D

March: Really?! Yay! Come aboard the Astral Express! See you both soon ()/!
